"On top of it, our society is more divided...." That part pains me most. All because of political fanatism blinded by politics of hate for opposing political parties. The youths who are supposed to mend this are the ones even fueling the hate politics. Sincerely, this is arguably the most dry Christmas I've seen in Nigeria. Very dry. Ok let's take a quick poll. Click like if you think Christmas was better under Jonathan Click share if you think Christmas under Buhari is better. |
Let's settle this once and for all. Click like if u think Lai Mohammed is an unrepentant lair. Click share if u think otherwise |
Lia Mohammed may be an exceptional opposition spokesman, but as minister of information, he seems to be acting like minister of lies. See how people responded to his comment this morning
|
I'm sure some gods chose Jonathan before the presidential election. All these things don't work. When the election comes, it's either David mark wins as a result of higher number of votes cast in his favour or Daniel Onjeh wins as a result of higher votes cast in his favour. The kolanut facing up or facing down doesn't translate into election victory for anyone. |
Nothing to say until I see the news in a more reliable media outlet. I don't believe any news that says "unconfirmed reports" |
Tinubutoto:U don talk am finish. Dakuku is paper weight , he only has Amaechi as his backbone, ND unfortunately, Amaechi doesn't have that much love among his people. Even lulu Briggs standing alone would defeat dakuku any day any time not to talk of Wike. Nothing for Dakuku |
To be sincere, I fear for Nigeria. Everything seems to be going wrong at once all because we politicise everything. I remember what el rufai tweeted when the military killed 3 Shiite members under GEJ. Right now under el rufai's watch, the military has killed over 50 Shiite members. Nigeria is sitting on a keg of gun powder and it seems only God can save us, as this government seems to be insensitive to some of these issues. Shiite on one corner, IPOB on one corner, boko haram on one corner, the militants are also warming up to take over their own corner. Add that to the likely protests we'd have when govt removes subsidy, and the protests we'd have when govt starts laying off workers to reduce overhead costs, and you'd see that slowly Nigeria is getting to an unpleasant point. Dear PMB, please show some sensitivity in some of these issues, stop acting like a man who in trying to quench a fire from a log of wood, he throws the wood into a dry bush. A word they say is enough for the wise. |
The truth is, our politicians across parties are all the same. All this about the arms gate is coming out because PDP is no longer in power. I'd like to see a situation where APC leaves office and PDP takes over again to tell us how APC did thier own part of the looting. I'd also like to know the source of funding Buhari's campaign. We've heard how Fashola and Amaechi misappropriated funds, but no one would touch them, that's because the fund went into funding Buhari's campaign. Youths should stop supporting these political parties. Let's keep changing govt every 4years, only then would we have proper accountability,. |
This is where we get it wrong. We personalise government a lot that's why rather than insist on good governance, we make it look like we're personally fighting the individuals at the top. If she was really interested in fighting for good governance, her fight wouldn't have ended after Jonathan left office. Boko haram is still killing, more people are still being kidnapped, fuel has suddenly turned to gold, power supply has gone from bad to worse, the naira has lost anything that looks like value., the economy is a calamity. But madam Oby is not saying anything. Year she wants us to believe her fight then was for good governance. If I hear. |
See who's talking. The ruling vindicated Victor Umeh not Chris Ngige. This is not about party, it's about who would provide a better representation for the people of Anambra central. The people once voted for Ngige under ACN. What kind of representation did Ngige provide? How did he reach out to the people. He simply stayed in Abuja. Meanwhile Uche Ekwunife is a grassroot woman, loved by the people and very popular, she has contributed to the development of anambra central. Yet some people sit in Lagos and just expect ndi anambra to vote for Ngige simply because he carries a broom and dines with Tinubu. This is not Lagos central where people keep returning a dormant oluremi Tinubu. This is anambra the home of the most intelligent people according to WAEC and NECO. When the election comes again the winner would be either Victor Umeh or Ekwunife. |
banki:I share your view. I'm not been bias here. That's why I stated in my first paragraph that Ben Bruce unfortunately, can't cope in Bayelsa politics. Dickson is coping because he can also fight rough and tough. |
Ben Bruce must have been surprised. He plays American politics. I'm sure he thought his charisma, gifts and tweets would have been able to swing things in his LGA, but this is bayelsa, Silva and APC would use militants, thugs and the military to move things. Dickson is fighting though and fighting well. PDP should even be commended for maintaining the lead despite all of Silva's rigging and militancy. Any observant person would know the APC grand plan. First their e-warriors wanted the internet world to believe Silva is the most popular candidate. Then thier master strategist -Tinubu relocated to Bayelsa. On election day, their e warriors started dishing out fake results while the military and militants were rigging for them. But Dickson na man. He's showing them the real stuff he's made of. |
Senator Ben Bruce has expressed his displeasure about the Bayelsa election. https://mobile.twitter.com/benmurraybruce/status/673590203882205186
|
Agbaletu:That result can not be correct. It is fake. APC can't defeat PDP in any polling unit in Sagbama same way it would take a miracle for PDP to win any ward in Nembe. U should know a result from #Bayelsadecide is fake when it is coming from a certain Damola who is sitting in a room somewhere in Lagos. |
FOLYKAZE:Those results are from Nembe (that's if it is true). Silva is a Nembe man. Even GEJ and Dickson were not expecting Nembe people to vote for PDP. Nembe is fully for Silva. If you go to Ogbia, Amasuma, Otueke, you'd see PDP winning with a high margin. Overall, it's a 50-50 election. Too close to call |
From all indications, APC and PDP would go head to head, the winner would take the day by a small Margin. It's a case of two evils, but unlike Kogi where Audu achieved a lot in his first term, it's hard to say what Silva achieved in his first term, apart from increasing the crime rate, and empowering thugs. Most of the Voters in that state only know how to thumb print for the umbrella of PDP. After a careful analysis and looking at things on ground, I think Silva would come very close, but Dickson would win. |
The following facts should be noted. - David Mark didn't rig his election into the senate. The price for rigging election is loosing the seat with the runner up being declared winner. No where in the judgement was it said that David Mark rigged the election. - There were no irregularities in the conduct of the election. This is according to the judgement. No where in the judgement was it stated that the rerun was being called for because of irregularities. - The court called for a rerun on the ground that the result was announced while voting was still on in some areas. This is not the fault of David Mark, this is the fault of the INEC "REC" in the state. - Before the result of any election is announced, all parties concerned gather at the collation centre to sign the result before the announcement is made. Didn't the APC agent approve the result ? - According to a radio program today, the REC mistakenly signed 28th of match on the result sheet instead of 29th which was the actual day the result was released. Is that David Mark's fault ? Please take note of the above mentioned points when commenting on the Issue. |
The following questions should be asked. Where did El Rufia get his figures from? Why didn't he respond after one of GEJ's men responded with figures lower than his? Why do youths believe people based on party affiliations without weighing if the allegations are true or false? |
Youths are the biggest problems with Nigeria. These are two visionary governors seeking to drag foreign investment to thier state, therefore advertising the country. There's nothing wrong with that. Everyone in PDP doesn't have to be like Metuh or Fayose. That's even the good side of the PDP. |
The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has won the Borno Central senatorial bye-election having polled 75 per cent of the total votes cast, according to results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. The APC candidate, Baba Garbai beat his closest rival, Kaka Bolori, of the PDP who polled 20 per cent of the total votes cast. The total number of votes cast in the election held on Saturday was 159,998. Mr. Garbai was declared to have won with 120,639 votes, while Mr. Bolori of the PDP scored 32,346 votes. The Kowa Party candidate got 1042 votes; APGA scored 334; NCP got 207; PPA got 136; PPN 79; while SDP scored 660 votes. Professor Muhammed Fannami, who was the Senatorial Returning officer for the bye-election declared Mr. Garbai winner having polled majority of the votes cast. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/regional/nnorth-east/192474-apc-wins-borno-senatorial-bye-election.html |
When people celebrate the personal victory of these politicians, I just bad. The way we're going in Nigeria, we'd keep having strong men and strong political parties rather than having a better Nigeria. A man is facing charges, and some people decide to back him based on what their party would gain. Now some others want to bail him out because he was instrumental to them becoming ministers. Some others want to cover the matter because he's now playing ball like a loyal member of their party. The question is, how does all these affect the common Nigerian who just needs good governance from his government and who wants things to work in his country? Where's the interest of the common man in all this ? |
And this is what happens when you politicise issues of security. In the GEJ era, APC used every boko haram attack to score political points. They made boko haram look like Jonathan's problem. They acted like a doctor who has the antedote to an ailment but wouldn't share because the ailment doesn't affect him. What stopped Buhari from attending national council of States meetings under Jonathan, to advice Jonathan on how to stop boko haram? Buhari never did that. What stopped Lai Mohammed from issuing press statements advicing the government of Jonathan on how to stop boko haram? Lai never did that.. Now the table has turned. I hope and pray we win this war. |
TonyeBarcanista:irrespective of what people say about you, I believe you're arguably the most grounded political analyst on nairaland. It's also a good thing that PDP has someone like you. But on the contrary, PDP didn't lose. They've won something important which is unity. The PDP no stands as a united house. - Saraki controls the house and whatever he says when he hits the gavel is final. - the PDP senators stood for him and followed him because they realise that Saraki has to remain in that position for Ike to remain DSP. - now that Saraki has breached that agreement, it is now time for the PDP to look for other ways of protecting ike. - posterity has recorded it that PDP stood for what is morally right yesterday, while APC stood for what is morally wrong. Keep the flag flying bro. |
handie:No where in the judgement was it said that they rigged. The judgement called for re-run on the ground of irregularities. The irregularities could have been INEC's fault, and not the fault of the candidates. In the case of Wike, it was based on the card reader, that one is INEC's fault. |
barcaboi:That's why I started by saying as expected. We all knew it was a sham |
soundtruth:Whoever said the tribunal would give it to Wike wasn't being sincere considering what we saw during the elections. There are a lot of things on ground in that state to make anyone who knows that terrain sure that Wike would win. Wike is a grassroot man like Fayose just that he's more rugged nd talks less than Fayose. There's even the fear of voting against Wike amongst some people who are Dakuku supporters. Amaechi wouldn't have been governor without Wike's rigorous campaigning for him. Wike was his campaign director. If there's one rivers man who knows how to get votes it's Wike. |
agabusta:Simple answer. To show your opponent that he's no match for you on the field and in the rigging room. To pass a silly message across to your opponent |
As expected the court has ordered for fresh elections. As an ardent follower of south south politics, I can boldly tell you that PDP is firmly rooted in that region, and somehow most of the grassroot people of Rivers tend to see Wike as more of their person than Amaechi. In my opinion, Wike would be re-elected, though with a small margin this time. Dakuku would get most of the Riverine vote, while Wike would get most of the upland (ikwerre) vote, and he's also get some riverine votes. Dakuku has won where he can win ( the tribunal) except APC and Amaechi rig the election, Wike would be re elected. |
It is a very simple matter. Akpabio should simply use the famous "I didn't sign cheques" as governor of akwa ibom and he would be exonerated. It worked for a certain baba fash. |
aresa:Your last paragraph is the reason I don't comment on Nairaland. That I don't agree with your point of view doesn't mean you should be aggressive towards me by asking me to shut up. I could be your friend or relative in reality. You don't need to put insults and use harsh words to drive home your point. Maturity lies in realising that other people are entitled to their opinion. |
aresa:The two groups (CACOL and Rivers PDP) have always reiterated that they have submitted petitions to the EFCC regarding both men. EFCC has never denied receiving the petitions |
