I'm a proud member of RCCG, and I trust my G.O (Adeboye), not to get involved in this our dirty politics of endorsing candidates. Pastor Kalejaiye was expressing his annoyance in the state of the Nation(which didn't start today or under GEJ). Pastor Kalejaiye may not even vote in the elections. The church should stay away from politics. Religious leaders should remain spiritual leaders. They should realise that their main calling is to win souls and not to canvass for politicians. My pastor can complain about the present situation of things in Nigeria but the day he stands on the pulpit and starts canvassing for a politician, would be the last day I worship in that church. |
Let me explain something here. Politics is all about who gets what, when and how. Political parties are just interested in getting power. PDP realises that the only candidate that can shake Amaechi's APC in the state is Wike. Gone are the days when a gentleman who is not connected to the people wins an election. Elections in Nigeria now, is how connected are you to the grassroots and how much you can present your case(talk). That's why Omisore lost in osun, that's why Fayose won in Ekiti, that's why Jimi Agbaje was picked ahead of Obanikoro, and that why Wike has been picked by PDP. Wike would challenge Amaechi word for word and even defeat Amaechi in the talking game that Amaechi knows how to do. This election is not PDP vs Peterside. It's PDP vs Amaechi. |
utumunta:This is the best post I've read this year. True talk. 12 corpers were killed in 2011, by supporter of Buhari who were incited by a statement made by Buhari. Up till this moment, Buhari hasn't apologised for the actions of his supporters. Instead, the body language of his party men and Campaign director is that of violence. They're already threatening us again. By saying they'd refuse to go to court if they feel the election is rigged, they are indirectly saying they want to be a player and a referee in their own football match. These politicians are desperately deceptive. When they succeed in making the country boil, they'd all take the escape route to their safe place. Until Nigerians realise that the problem of this country is PDP and APC, we'd not move forward. Until we realise that these people would go to any length to get power, we'd not move forward. Be wise my friends. Be wise |
The first thing I did after reading this news was to look at the source. If it's not punch, Vanguard, Guardian, Nation, Channels, Sahara reporters etc, then it's not reliable. I don't believe the part of the people shouting sai Buhari. The issue here is greed. If the Fayose is giving out rice and Chicken, it's supposed to be for the poor, not for everyone. I don't see any reason why people would drive their cars or spend 1k on transport just to collect something they can afford. Let's praise the good and condemn the bad. Fayemi left Ekiti in a mess, cleared the state account, owed salaries for 3 months, was far from the people, and didn't look at the immediate needs of the people. Fayose has paid up all the outstanding and is only owing for half of december. I think he needs to be commended for that, considering that some states are yet to pay for november. Fayose didn't say he won't develop the state, development would come, but the people would also be fed while the state is being developed. |
Lies and propaganda everywhere. Here are some points worth taking note of. 1. People (especially here on nairaland) celebrate and believe every propaganda thrown out by whichever party they support. 2. APC realises that Buhari has a religious stain on him, and they're trying every possible means to take off that stain, which includes picking a pastor as his running mate, etc. 3. Who are the northern pastors that endorse Buhari? So if (let's say) 20 pastors of some (small) churches in the North endorse Buhari, it now means the entire northern pastors are endorsing him? 4. I thought APC said religion doesn't count, but now they seem to have even gone more religious than the PDP, yet the same APC supporters who openly condemned PDP for being religious, are praising APC for doing the same thing. 5. Elections are never won online in any part of the world. If it elections were won online, Fayose wouldn't have emerged governor of ekiti, and Bush wouldn't have won a second term in office. |
harthonder:Thank you and God bless you for the information you just shared. Did they tell you any other thing apart from that? Like give you a form to fill? |
Lies. Everywhere. 1. 80% of the Igbo's are for GEJ 2. The igbo's don't throw around money like that. Infact, most yoruba's accuse igbo's of being stingy. 3. Who are the igbo's that donated? |
stint:You made some important points, but let me highlight somethings. 1. This is not the military regime where the head of state sits in his office and orders soldiers to flog people who perform corrupt acts on the streets, roll them in muddy water, and draws up a list of top officials to be arrested. 2. This is a democracy where institutions are empowered to act. The president can not order the arrest of somebody as he's not the police or the EFCC. 3. Corruption is everybody's battle to fight. Why are we all complaining of the president? Why isn't anyone saying anything about the senators? Let a senator from the opposition present an anti corruption bill, let the house or senate pass it, and let me see if GEJ wouldn't sign it into law. Everyone has a role to play here. Let the EFCC make one high profile arrest, and let me see if GEJ would stop them from trying the person. 4. The insurgency we are seeing in the North today, started because our past leaders neglected the North. They refused to educate the people as they were benefiting from the high level of illiteracy in the North. None of our past leaders built an islamic school where the children can learn islam and normal school work. Now GEJ has built 125, but it looks like the schools are coming a little too late. 5. If Buhari wins, there'd be violence in the south/south. Militancy would start all over again. If GEJ wins, there'd be violence in the North, and in some parts of the south/west. Either ways, 2015 would be hot. BH may stop, but another form of militancy would start, some people are already getting warships. 6. God help Nigeria. Let's all pray for a better nations. Our politicians (both PDP and APC) are selfish, desperate, and full of deception. I think we need a third party in Nigeria, and a third candidate. GOD BLESS NIGERIA |
Yeye dey smell. This man performed extremely well as a PDP governor, then decamped to the APC and was more interested in fighting the president than he was in developing rivers state. See the amount he's shamelessly saying he allocated as contract to build classrooms. Shameless politicians. Rivers people have gained nothing from ur marriage with APC, the only people who have gained from that marriage is Tinubu, and Buhari, yet you still expect rivers people to vote APC. You better go to the southwest to contest elections, because that is where you are seen as a hero. Not here in rivers |
I open this thread because I know that some state governors are owing salaries. Please tell us if your governor is owing, and also how many months is he owing. This is not about political parties. It's just an eye opener. |
20pounds:You have spoken well. The people voted Fayemi in the first place because they had expectations from him, when he wasn't meeting those expectations, they voted for a tested and trusted grassroot man. A man who would go to the market, dance with the market women, and give them something to prepare dinner with when they get home. Every society is unique and has it's own problems. Ekiti is not Lagos. The people wanted to feel the government that was why they voted Fayose. Ekiti people didn't want a governor who takes orders from one baba in Ikoyi, Lagos. |
Sometimes I ask myself who is wise and who is fooling who in Nigeria today. There's a big political divide in Nigeria, a divide that makes me fear for my nation. In today's Nigeria, you're either in the camp of PDP (GEJ) or in the camp of APC (GMB). Those in the GEJ camp look for every reason to disbelieve anything positive coming from the GMB camp, they castigate everything that's connected to GMB and no amount of convincing can make them change their stand. Those in GMB camp, also castigate GEJ so much that they see nothing good in his administration. They look for every reason to attack anything that has GEJ on it, and just like the GEJ boys, no amount of convincing can make them change their stand. My fear for this nation is that the politicians are at it again. All sorts of propaganda will keep flying from both camps until the big two parties decide to (miraculously) mearge one day. Have we ever sat down to ask ourselves these question; If Buhari decamps to the PDP today, will the party still call him a religious bigot? If GEJ decides to decamp to APC today, will the APC reject him, and stop referring to him as an incompetent president? Fellow nairalanders, please open your eyes before you jump into this political war that the politicians are dragging everyone into. Can't we see a trend gradually coming up in Nigeria? The south southerners created trouble, and didn't stop until their man got the seat of power. Now there's trouble in the north, which looks like it wouldn't stop until a northerner gets into power. With the elections close by, some people from the south south are already preparing battleships just incase their man loses out. If you know the creeks well, you'd know that if those boys decide to make that rejoin ungovernable even for Barack Obama, they can do it, because they no one knows the creeks in Bayelsa as much as the militants do. Is this how Nigeria should continue? I personally think Nigeria is ripe to have a vibrant president (in the mould of an Obama) who can talk the talk, work the work, and who has the charisma to inspire Nigerians. A knowledgeable president whose speech alone can inspire a turn around in Nigeria. With due respect to GMB and GEJ, both of them are capable of boring someone to sleep with their dull presentation of speeches. Please fellow nairalanders, be wise. Don't jump into one side of the divide. Politicians are politicians. Do not believe all you read online. God bless Nigeria. |
The first time I saw that thread, I wondered why a church like RCCG would fall into the trap of Nigeria's muddy politics. Now the general overseer of the RCCG, has distanced himself and the church from the twitter account. He also gave the genuine twitter account of RCCG. https://m.facebook.com/PastorEAAdeboye?_rdr |
Wait o! I'm a member of the rccg, and I follow rccg on twitter and facebook. I believe my G.O wouldn't publicly declare his support for any individual so as to avoid getting involved in the dirty water called Nigerian politics. I don't know how the RCCG has gotten itself somehow wrapped up in the politics of Nigeria. I just hope someone in the RCCG hierarchy realises how much this simple "let somebody shout halleyah photo" can do to smear the reputation of the church. |
cramjones:Here we go again. You people keep kicking the igbo's for deciding who they'd support. There's an atom of selfishness in everything a person does. The west (Tinubu nd co) know that Amaechi is not trust worthy, that's why they can't make him Buhari's running mate. Now they want to use his ruggedness and doggedness to win the elections, after which (if they win) they can dump him. When the igbo's supported Yar'adua, no one complained of bigotry. When they supported Obj, no one complained of bigotry. Now back to the issue of selfishness. I dare you or anyone else to tell me the president or head of state that has done more for the eastern rejoin than GEJ has done. The igbos obviously do not want a president from the SE, but a president who would develop the SE. I don't see why anyone should have a problem with that. As I always say, let igbos support who they choose to support, let yorubas support their choice, let hausas support their choice. At the end the most popular candidate wins. Pls don't antagonise the igbo's for not going with your choice of candidate |
koboko69:Gosh! Guy did you have to go that way? This is not about APC or PDP. This is about insanity that happens on a major road. I live at the alaba express axis of that road, and I can tell you that there's an average of 3 accidents weekly on that axis alone. We know how intellectually sound the lagos state governor is, and how loud the APC is, and I can tell you that there's no way the FG or Police would be doing something against the will of the lagos state government that the lagos state government wouldn't scream out for the whole world to hear. When the law was being enforced it was being enforced by the police under the directive of the lagos state government, and kick against indiscipline (KAI) officials. The FG or PDP has nothing to do with the bike men on apapa - oshodi expressway. |
As usual, we miss the base of the issue and look at just the surface matter. Why did those lawmakers jump ship? The reason is simple. They lost the primaries in PDP, were assured they'd get the ticket of APC and had to move for their own selfish reasons. Does getting the APC ticket guarantee them a return to the house? That's a big No. There return to the house depends on their popularity, some of them, if not all of them are inactive legislators. If GEJ joins APC today will the party reject him? Big no. They'd suddenly start singing his praise because the most important thing for them, is to have their man in power. |
aresa:I've listed the projects already in this tread, you can dig it up. I also listed some of the ongoing projects in the east. If you want, you can travel down to Abia state to verify those projects I later listed, or you can ask people the state of owerri-onitsha road before GEJ came in, then travel on that road by yourself to see the present state. . If you go to the Alafia bus stop on Lagos - badagry road, you'd see that a toll center is already there, even though the road is yet to be completed. I'm not saying tolling has started on the road, I'm just saying tolls would be collected on that road whenever it's completed. Lagos state has arguably the highest tax rate in Nigeria, yet you don't see any problem with the Lagos state government collecting tolls from people plying a road that was constructed with their taxes. Lagos state government collected a significant amount as loan from the world bank to finance the lagos - badary road as well as other projects. The federal government reached an agreement with JB, FG is paying part of the money, while JB pays the other part. If you don't see a problem with Lagos state collectiing loans from world bank to construct roads, and still collect tolls on the road despite taxing the people heavily, then why should you see a problem with JB funding part of the 2nd Niger bridge, and eventually collect tolls on it? If the previous administrations of IBB, Abacha, or OBJ had decided to award a contract on that the same way this contract has been awarded, we easterners would have clapped for that person the way we're Clapping for GEJ now. Let the west support who they want to support, the east has decided where to pitch it's tent. I'm still waiting for you to tell me the administration that has brought as much federal project to the east as GEJ has brought. |
I successfully submitted my application, but my passport isn't showing. I've opened the aknowledgement slip, but there's no passport there. Pls what's the way out? |
Please I need to be clear on something here, who are those re-taking the test? Cos I did mine yesterday with the second portal and scored 91%. Any need retaking the test again? |
aresa:My guy as I said earlier, leave the east to support who they want to support. You keep hitting on the bridge. Ok, so Lekki road belongs to Lekki concession company and not to the people of lagos. Work is still ongoing by CCECC (a chinese company) on Lagos - badagry expressway, if you get to alafia, you'd see that a toll centre has already been fixed there, so are you saying we should stop giving the lagos state government credit for the road, because the chinese guys would eventually collect toll on it. The tolling on the 2nd Niger bridge is not even a confirmed issue yet. Let's even leave the bridge aside. Please tell me one ruler that has completed or started more projects in the east than GEJ. I've listed many of the projects started or completed by his administration earlier in this tread. If you want, I can list them out again. Go to isukwato in Abia state, you'd see a beautiful modern secondary school built by sure-p in ovim, and another school renovated by sure-p, you'd also see that the road to okigwe from akara, is under construction (there's a big gully there, which the contractors are fixing). Also, the road from ozara to ebonyi through acha is also ongoing. All these are in one isiukwato local government o. Please don't sit in lagos and say GEJ duped the east. For the first time, there is federal presence in the east |
aresa:The same way Fashola duped lagosians in the lekki toll plaza and Ikoyi link bridge abi? |
My dear westerners, please don't blame the easterners for supporting GEJ, if you don't like him, the igbo's like him. If you're wondering why they like him, please tell me the ruler (either military or civilian) that has brought as much development to the Southeast, as GEJ has done. I remember the days when late Sani Abacha brought down Ibeto to uplift Dangote by making him the sole importer of rice. These are some of the developments GEJ has brought to the east; Enugu airport, ongoing second Niger bridge, on going road project from head bridge Onitsha to enugu, esterblishment of Federal university in Ebonyi, Ongoing Enugu Aba Port harcourt road, Ebonyi rice processing mill, ferlizer plant in Abia and Anambra, Onitsha-owerri high-way was completed by GEJ, renovation Imo airport, supported our business men and women (innoson has gotten huge support from this govt. Now we see innoson motors all over nigeria), the good work done on benin ore road (which OBJ spent billions on but couldn't deliver) has made travelling to the east less hectic. Please mention one ruler that has done more for igbos than GEJ has done. Westerners love Okorocha because he's an APC man. If Okorocha was PDP or APGA would the west like him? How many westerners even talk or commend the humility and achievements of Peter Obi as governor? Are westerners aware that Okorocha employed graduates as teachers in imo state, promised to pay them 20k monthly, but is owing them for up to 5months now? Are westerners aware that Okorocha reduced the school fees of Imolites in IMSU, and also reduced the number of imolites who get admitted to IMSU yearly? Please westerners. If GEJ didn't favour your rejoin, he favoured the east. Leave him for them. |
edozieh:Do any of the above. No fear. When they said your score has been recorded, they mean your name and score has been recorded in the list of people that will be contacted at the appropriate time. |
evenytually, i suceeded. after missing a wedding reception and burning time and money in a cafe. i eventually suceeded. score=91% |
Davidbee:who tell you that one? |
lol. very funny . another reason for lai mohammed and co to blame GEJ. i've bought another 1hr. i wont give up till 2pm. i dont want to end up saying "if i had' |
ok . I leave a wedding i'm attending, rush to the closest cafe by 12;02, request for 30mins, afterall, the test would last for just 5mins, I said to myself, in 20mins i should be done, and i'd return to the wedding to join my friends, but here i am still sitted in the cafe, with 2mins of my 30mins remaining, and site neva even open. |
site is not loading . |
santori:GEJ is hated in edo? Uncle u can lie o! In the voice of an edo man," na oshomole we sabi o, we no dey follow hausa, nothing concern we and hausa" |
I ask this as a result of something I noticed this afternoon. I came online, went into the politics section, and saw an interesting thread - 30 achievements of GEJ as president (or something like that). I said to myself, "wow! For the first time, something about the achievements of GEJ on nairaland. I was surprised that one could list up to 30 achivements of a man as disliked as GEJ, before now I was used to seeing different anti GEJ posts. However, I couldn't read it then cos I was busy, I return to nairaland later in the day, and to my greatest surprise, I couldn't find the post, all I saw were the usual threads chanting GMB songs. So please guys, do think nairaland is biased towards a particular party or candidate? Please note; I'm a neutral and may not even vote because I don't believe in the present set of politicians we have. I don't believe in either PDP or APC or GEJ or GMB. I just feel things should be balanced. |
Hello. Pls I'd really appreciate if someone can forward the past questions to marvinodih@gmail.com. Thanks. |
