PoliticsRe: Forgive Akiolu And Move On, Buhari Tells Igbo by Marvin67: 12:31pm On Apr 08, 2015

Point of correction, 'U' n nt we wld vote 4 agbaje. Am Igbo n am voting ambode n I forgive d Oba already cos we r all humans n we say tins we dnt mean to say. I won't throw away my yoruba frnds cos of 1person. So let's dump dis issue n move on.
When I say "we" I don't mean all igbos. I mean people like me who have already decided since the start of the year, nd I said that cos Buhari was referring to igbos. Besides, what makes you think it's only igbos who would vote for Abgbaje? I also have lots of yoruba friends who voted for Buhari, but who have always maintained that they'd vote for Agbaje. Perhaps you could explain to me how voting for Agbaje would make one lose his yoruba friends. Remember that Agbaje is also an "omoluabi" he's 100% yoruba. He's not igbo.

barcanista:
Make them go abeg. We are expecting more exit from the party. People like us will take this as an advantage to rebuild, restructure and rebrand the party.
I agree with you on this one. This is the time for young people you have Nigeria at heart to join PDP and convert the party into a formidable opposition. Without an opposition, a government goes to sleep. I believe PDP is loosing all her fair-weather friends. The real men still remain in PDP. I listened to David Mark yesterday when he said even if he's the last man, he'd remain in PDP. This is the time for us to team up with David Mark and Muazu.

On this woman's defection, anyone who knows abia politics well, would know that this woman became irrelevant after her son left office. T.A Orji made her and her son irrelevant. Her brand of politics called "mamacracy" no longer works. The Abia governorship race is between Alex Otti (APGA) and Ikpeazu (PDP). Irrespective of who wins, this woman remains still irrelevant, and I don't see her being relevant in Abuja also, cos APC already knows the ones who would be relevant at that level. So Mama's defection, is simply to make headlines for newspapers. It doesn't carry weight.

We hold no grudge against him. We decided before he said those words, nd we're standing by that decision. We'd vote for Agbaje.
PoliticsRe: Former Edo PDP Guber Candidate Gen. Charles Airhiavbere Dumps PDP and joins APC by Marvin67: 10:09pm On Apr 05, 2015
And that's how they'd covert APC into another PDP. Politicians are the most selfish people in Nigeria. APC should be careful with some of these people, when a house becomes too big, meeting the needs of people become a problem and the disgruntled people would start cracking the walls of the house. APC should be careful, some of the people would create confusion in APC and eventually leave APC once they sense a crack.
PoliticsRe: No Going Back On Fayose's Impeachment - APC LAWMAKERS by Marvin67: 9:31pm On Apr 05, 2015
Fayose is loved by majority of the people in Ekiti. He's the original "people's governor" because of how connected he is with the people. With all these impeachment threat, these lawmakers are just giving the people more reasons why they'd be voted out next saturday
PoliticsWhy Jonathan Is The Father Of Modern Democracy In Nigeria by Marvin67(op): 11:48am On Apr 05, 2015
Let me start by taking us down memory lane. The beginning of this change started the day Jega was appointed as INEC chairman. I remember when Jega was newly appointed, I read an article somewhere. The writer was focused on how Jega would change the face of elections in Nigeria. He ended the article by praising President Jonathan for appointing Jega. According to him, a shortlist of men who could do the job was sent to Jonathan by top members of the PDP. The top members wanted the position to be occupied by a man who can play along the interest of PDP, but Jonathan thought otherwise. That move by Jonathan against the wishes of the PDP top men, was the beginning of the change we have today.

Jega came on board, we had elections in Edo, Anambra, Ondo, Ekiti, and Osun. All of those elections went smooth, with PDP winning just Ekiti. In the other states which PDP lost, Jonathan congratulated the winner. I remember after congratuting Aregbesola on his victory in Osun, Jonathan told Omisore to forget the elections and not go to court, but Omisore didn't heed his advice.

Fast forward now to 2015. PDP had issues with the card reader. People thought Jonathan would do the "normal" thing by using executive powers to either remove Jega or scuttle something. But he didn't. At every press conference Jega was asked if he was under pressure from the presidency and he kept say "no, I'm not under any pressure". In other words Jonathan gave Jega the free hand to do his job independently. Even when the card reader fumbled with his card, Jonathan maintained his calm before the press. Maybe some people are not aware that at that moment, the president could have said something, that would scuttle the whole process. And when eventually it became obvious that he has lost, he called the winner to congratulate him, thereby maintaining peace and stability in the country.
Jonathan is the real father of modern democracy, he has set a standard with regards how elections should go and how losers should behave in a democracy, and I'd continue to hail him for that. Jonathan is the man who preached transformation, but ended up delivering "change" and we must hail him for that.

Long live Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: How Jonathan Defeated Obasanjo by Marvin67(op): 10:18am On Apr 03, 2015
Baawaa:
For majority of those that think Jonathan willingly congratulate the people's general don't know anything, Jonathan was tamed like baby by African peace keepers to congratulate the people's general.
Pls don't take anything away from the man's golden moment. He had options. He could have remained silent nd said nothing. Was he tamed by Africa's peace keepers when he maintained his calm despite the whole card reader debacle on saturday? Was he tamed by Africa's peace keepers when he told his party not to contest the result at the tribunal? That you don't like him, doesn't mean he's not a gentleman. Everyone that has met Jonathan personally has attested to the fact that the man is a pure gentleman and a man of peace. Even Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, despite all his issues with Jonathan kept saying, Jonathan is a good man, surrounded by bad advicers. Pls join the whole world in celebrating this man.
PoliticsHow Jonathan Defeated Obasanjo by Marvin67(op):
I never understood what people meant whenever they said GEJ never loses a battle until I saw the outcome of the elections. The 2015 presidential election wasn't just a battle between GEJ and GMB, it was also a battle between GEJ and OBJ.
Everyone who knows Nigeria well, knows that OBJ spent his time in office, trying to create a name for himself in Africa. Eventually, he left office and became one of Africa's most respected former leaders. GEJ however had more issues on his neck while he was Nigeria's president, and I'm sure he almost had no time to think of Africa. But after losing the elections, GEJ performed an act that made him leap frog OBJ to being one of Africa's greatest. His singular act of congratulating the winner, made the whole world and all of Africa respect him. In some quarters he's been described as the father of modern democracy in Nigeria.

Even the APC which I never thought would ever use the name Jonathan and commend in the same sentence has this to say through Alhaji Lai Mohammed by that
singular act, which went a long way in dousing post-election tension, the President had snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.
It also noted that Jonathan had written his name in gold in the annals of Nigeria’s history and catapulted himself to a statesman.

Also, Mo Ibrahim a man who has never said anything about OBJ had this to say about GEJ; Thank you Mr President. If you are seeking a legacy, you have definitely achieved
it.”
If GEJ eventually wins the Mo Ibrahim award for 2015, then he'd definitely be smiling all over Africa, far more than OBJ is smiling. When the UN, AU, Commonwealth, etc looks for an African democrat to use an example, they'd definitely use GEJ, while OBJ falls into the category of so many former presidents.

Lastly, as my warri friend said "who God don bless, God don bless, Jona no dey ever lose. Him lose Aso Rock, but him win Africa".
PoliticsA Thread For Only South East And South Southerners. by Marvin67(op): 10:54pm On Apr 01, 2015
Today I speak as a true Niger deltan. As a Niger deltan with 50% South south blood and, 50% South east blood.
When the South southerners and South easterners went to the polls on Saturday, they showcased one thing; Loyalty. We showed the world that we don't sell out or betray our own. We stick to our man, and if he sinks we sink with him. Some say we're not wise politically, but I say we show brotherhood and loyalty no matter the consequences. The implication of our decision on saturday means we wouldn't hold any of the top six positions in Nigeria in the next administration, but we don't care. We fight with our man, and if he goes down, we go down with him. To me, that is the definition of Loyalty. We don't betray our own, if he's in the ring, we fight with him with all we have. All hail the South South. All hail the south east. All hail everyone who never betrays his own.

PoliticsMod's Please Save Nigeria. by Marvin67(op): 9:02am On Mar 29, 2015
I want to use this medium to call on the MOD's of this section to save Nigeria from trouble by closing or deleting any thread with any election result.
From most of the results I've seem on this page, It's obvious some people are just spreading fake results. Some people do not know that a polling unit has a maximum of 750 voters and no polling unit ever records 100% voter turn out. At this point it's also impossible for anyone to know the total result in an area or an LGA, because collation is still going on in INEC offices nationwide, while in some areas voting is still going on.

Please MOD's save nairaland from being a lie spreading tool, and Nigeria from chaos by deleting any thread with a result. Except that thread is from a credible source like vanguard, guardian, or channelstv.

PoliticsRe: Whats Going On In Otuoke by Marvin67: 9:36am On Mar 28, 2015
This is very embarrassing. Some people are laying the ground for trouble. Buhari had his accreditation without any hitch, now Jona is having serious issues with his. I think this is a coincidence, but it's a coincidence that some people would read meaning to. How can Mr. President spend over 12minutes to get accredited? Jega should be shaking now.

Common guys. Let's reason. I don't speak in favour of any party nd I believe both PDP and the new PDP(APC) are the biggest problem Nigerians have. If we must move forward, we should flush out both parties

Down to the issue. No common man would leave his house or business and start washing the streets after the president's visit. That washing move must have been engineered by the APC chieftans in that state, and don't also think the people would do the washing without any pay.
PoliticsWho Is The Best Or Worst Governor In The South South. by Marvin67(op): 8:13am On Mar 18, 2015
We've had a poll for the South East and South West. I think it would be right for us to have a poll for the South South.
Who (in your opinion) is the best or most performing Governor in the South South region? Please give reason for your choice.
Who do you also think is the worst governor in the region?

Let's be sincere to ourselves. It's not about us. Rather it's about them. Politicians decamp for their selfish interests. Everyone wants to feel important, and when they feel party A is not making them feel relevant, they jump to party B. I usually tell youths that if you celebrate any politician decamping, you're just being decieved.

PoliticsRe: We’ve Not Received Court Papers On New Party –INEC by Marvin67: 7:42am On Mar 11, 2015
Again, Nairalanders are showcasing their ignorance. This is a complex matter.

If INEC carries out Elections on the 28th without having YDP on the ballot, that would only prepare the ground for YDP to return to court again and legally have the election cancelled.

The court injunction may get to INEC on the 27th, if it gets to them by that time, then INEC would realise how big a mistake they've made

I like Jega, but he's threading wrongly on this one. Except he's secretly working for the cancellation of the election.

PoliticsRe: Court Orders INEC To Register Young Democratic Party by Marvin67: 2:51pm On Mar 04, 2015
If we're sincere with ourselves, here's a party every youth should be interested in. Both PDP and APC are both from the old bloc. Both of them have players who one way or the other have contributed into plunging Nigeria into this deep mess we're in now.
Imagine if all the youth throws their weight nd vote behind this party. That way, we'd get the genuine change we've always wanted. Not a change from the old PDP to the new PDP.
I think Nigerian youths should learn from Greece, where a 40years old charismatic, vibrant and unconventional young man, was elected as prime minister.

GEJisBOKO:
He was in Lagos last week and here he is again. Where was he during the Ebola crisis in Lagos?
.

Come on bro. I'm non partisan, but the truth has to be said. This is an election period. GEJ has to campaign personally, and rigorously also considering how loud the opposition is. On the ebola issue, the minister of health then (Onyebuchi Chukwu) was obviously on top of the situation, I'm sure the president was getting feedbacks daily. GEJ also wasted no time in giving the Lagos state government N200 to use in the fight against ebola.

What would you say abour GMB who has never attended any council of state meeting when issues such as health, education, insecurity etc are to be discussed, but when the council was to discuss elections (which affects him directly) GMB attended the meeting.

That's our traditional wear. It's called "akwa-ocha", and it's also very expensive. Please bro, show some respect for other people's culture the same way GEJ has just done.

PoliticsHas Barcanista's Porting Crippled APC On Nairaland? by Marvin67(op): 7:00pm On Feb 21, 2015
I don't believe in online politics or propaganda, but one thing I find funny is how APC's noise on nairaland has suddenly reduced following barcanista's porting to PDP. Unlike before, when even the smallest "sai Buhari" gets over 300 likes while the most reasonable post about GEJ struggles to get 50likes. These days, I'm surprised to see a pro-GEJ post get over 400likes. Please did barcanista take APC's magic wand with him to PDP?
