A Chinese woman who live-streamed herself trying to eat a live Pacific octopus ended up screaming in pain after the marine creature used its suckers to attach itself to her face.

The young woman, who goes by “seaside girl Little Seven” on popular Chinese video platform Kuaishou, was allegedly planning to eat the octopus on camera, although the video begins with the creature already stuck to her face. She can be heard calmly telling her fans “look how hard it’s sucking” before realizing that she can’t actually remove it without pulling on it really hard. At one point, it looks like her left cheek might come off as she struggles to detach the octopus while screaming “painful” and “I can’t remove it”.
When the octopus finally lets go of her face, the Chinese vlogger notices that she’s actually missing a small piece of skin on her cheek, and says “My face is disfigured”. Holding the octopus in her hand, she remembers the original plan for her video, telling her fans “I’ll eat it in the next video”.

Police in Florida were stunned after a woman pulled an alligator out of her pants during a traffic stop on Monday. This is a strange move that might just rank on the state’s list of odd reported crimes.
Ariel Machan-Le Quire, 25, was in the passenger’s seat of a vehicle around 3:30 a.m. in Punta Gorda when she was pulled over, the Miami Herald reported, citing an incident report from the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.

The department said that the woman was asked if she had anything else in the vehicle, and then “proceeded to pull an alligator out of her yoga pants (about one foot in length) and placed it into the bed of the truck.”

Machan-Le Quire, along with 22-year-old driver Michael Clemons, claimed they were trying to collect wildlife from underneath an overpass. Investigators said the woman also had 41 small turtles inside of a backpack.

Trash talking someone in Binalonan could see offenders literally picking up trash under a new local law designed to make people take responsibility for the things they say. First-time gossipers risk a fine of 200 pesos ($3. and three hours of collecting garbage in the streets, while repeat offenders would have to pay up to $20 and put in eight hours of community service. The law isn’t very clear on what qualifies as gossip, but mayor Ramon Guico cited peddling rumours of residents’ relationships or financial situations as examples of punishable offences.

A young man who mistakenly swallowed his earphone pooped it out, washed and tested it to discover it still worked. The young man became popular online after viral video showed him searching his poop to pull out the earphone.
The Taiwanese man, known online only as Mr Hsu, went viral this past week, for reasons someone should never become famous. He gained attention online after filming himself sifting through his poop, reports India Times.
Hsu says he fell asleep with the earphones in, and couldn’t find the one for his right ear when he woke up. The ‘Find My AirPods’ feature indicated the earphone was still in the room with him, but he couldn’t spot it anywhere. “The map showed that my AirPod was at home, and I could hear the ‘beep, beep’ sound, which seemed to follow me around the room,” Hsu wrote on social media.

Copa Ataúdes or Coffin Cup, a yearly futsal tournament hosted by the Peruvian city of Juliaca, has been dubbed the world’s most depressing sports competition for offering coffins as prizes to the three best teams, reports Oddity Central.

The Juliaca Coffin Cup is a competition between teams representing the twelve largest funeral houses in the Puno Region of southeastern Peru, so it kind of makes sense that the main prizes be something representative of the funeral business. Still, fighting your heart out on the pitch for an expensive casket you have to share with five other teammates doesn’t exactly sound worthwhile. That didn’t stop the winning team from parading their $1,300 luxury coffin on their shoulders and singing “Olé, olé, campeon!” at the end of the final match, though.
Even the names of the teams that participated in the competition are as depressing as the competition itself. The 12 teams competing in Coffin Cup 2019 chose names for themselves, such as “Last Goodbye”, “Eternal Dream”, “Rest and Peace”, “Los Angeles” or “Road to Paradise”.
The top prize for the winning team was a luxury coffin valued at 4,500 soles (about $1,300) while the second and third place teams received cheaper models. Organizers declared themselves proud of being the first to offer coffins as prizes in a sports competition, and promised to put even more expensive ones on the line next year.
“I want to thank God. Never at an international level has there been an inter-hospitality championship with coffins as prizes,” a Coffin Cup official told reporters.

‘This means that the petition is successful and the Peterborough parliamentary seat is now vacant,’ she added.

A church that allows members to smoke cannabis during services to ‘meditate and uplift their spirit’ has recorded membership surge as 6,000 people have joined in just a month. The church says it uses marijuana as sacrament.

The church, the Lion of Judah House of Rastafari in Madison, Wisconsin, opened a month ago.

Church leaders Jesse Schworck and Dylan Bangert say that while cannabis is illegal in Wisconsin, members are allowed to smoke during services under the US Freedom Restoration act.
“This is a non-profit church,” Schworck told Channel 3000.

“We all use cannabis to meditate and also for the religious purpose for uplifting our mind and our body and our spirit.”

Schworck says he hopes the new members are sincere in their faith.
He said: ”We just want people to be sincere in that aspect of the religion.

“We don’t have to agree on everything. We are open. We are all denominational so you can come as you are. Be yourself, share your stories and the things you know.

“We don’t have a monopoly on knowledge or anything like that. We just try to encourage people to talk and have fellowship together and break bread.”

To join, new members have to fill out an online form. Schwork says the church welcomes anyone who wants to learn about the Rastafari religion, read books on the religion and meditate.

It’s unclear who long the religious boom will be allowed to continue. There are legal moves afoot to close the church down.

Madison Assistant City Attorney Jennifer Zilavy said: “They are claiming to be a church.

“I have not seen any documentation or anything that supports they are, in fact, a church. Even if they are a church, marijuana is illegal in this state. You can’t sell it. It can’t just be 24/7 and you can smoke weed and that’s our religion.”

Lord Beric Dondarrion, head of House Dondarrion, led the Brotherhood Without Banners resistance group and after he died and was brought back to life by the Red Priest, he adopted a belief in the Lord of Light and grew close to Melisandre.

Beric was stabbed to death in the crypts during the Battle of Winterfell by the White Walkers when he and The Hound went to save Arya. “The Lord brought him back for a purpose, and now that purpose has been served,” Melisandre said to Arya and the Hound after Beric died.

While some of Beric’s past choices were questionable, mainly concerning his belief in the Red God, he died defending Arya Stark and fighting for the greater good, which is admirable.

A Filipino Catholic man playing the role of Jesus Christ in a yearly Good Friday reenactment of his crucifixion has been nailed to a wooden cross for the 33rd consecutive time last week.

58-year-old Ruben Enaje, from the barangay of San Pedro Cutud, in San Fernando City, has been volunteering to get nailed to a cross on Good Friday since the 80s, but recently announced that next year will be his last impersonating Jesus Christ. He is currently looking for a successor willing to have four-inch nails driven into his hands and feet and get lifted on a large wooden cross for about five minutes, every Good Friday. He also wants that person to be humble and not brag about their special role.

“I want to only do this until next year,” Enaje told Reuters. “What I’m looking for in my successor is that he serves as a good role model in his community and a person with good manners and values, not someone who would boast about the role or be too proud.”

The tradition of reenacting the crucifixion of Jesus Christ in San Pedro Cutud dates back to 1962, and is believed to have been inspired by the a play written by a local playwright. It has become one of the most popular religious festivals in the Philippines, attracting thousands of Christian onlookers every year. However, it’s also a very controversial event.

The Australian government is to tackle its wild cat problem by preparing a delicious ‘last meal’ for the cats and garnishing it with deadly poison. This move has enraged animal rights activists in that country but the government says the wild cats have caused serious problem to the animal landscape in the country and intend to kill about 10 million by 2020.
Poisonous sausages are being airdropped into the bush to kill feral cats as the Australian government pushes to cull two million by 2020, reports Daily Mail.

Shooting and poisoning are methods used to kill wild cats across 10 million hectares in a move that has sparked outrage among animal rights groups.

Direct Action Everywhere (DXE) has criticised the government for not using methods like sterilisation.

Cats kill 377million birds and 649million reptiles per year, which makes the soil less fertile and productive.

A Indian woman contesting election in that country on the platform of the ruling BJP has been mocked by opposition party for claiming she cured breast cancer by drinking cow urine.

Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi mocked the BJP on Thursday over Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur’s claim that she cured her breast cancer with cow products like urine. He is the President of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, a political party in India.

Owaisi pointed to a newspaper report that said oncologists in Mumbai had refuted Sadhvi Pragya’s claim.
“Looks like BJP has found its candidate for Ministry of Health, with additional charge of Science & Technology!” Asadduddin Owaisi wrote on Twitter. “Unfortunately, soon-to-be former Prime Minister Modi won’t be getting a chance to see it through,” he said.

A telegraph dubbed “Hitler’s suicide note” containing a defiant final message from the Nazi leader is expected to fetch up to £70,000 (about N32,620,000) at auction.

The historic memo was sent just days before Hitler’s death to one of his favourite commanders, Ferdinand Schörner, who had urged him to flee the besieged capital of the German Third Reich.
It states: “I shall remain in Berlin, so as to take part, in honourable fashion, in the decisive battle for Germany, and to set a good example to all those remaining.

A photo has emerged of what a park ranger claims to be a selfie with two gorillas in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Ranger Mathieu Shamavu says the picture was taken at Virunga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
A spokesperson for the park told Sky News the pair both lived in a specially designed unit which cares for gorilla orphans who have been victimised by poachers or animal traffickers.

Mr Shamavu described his captivating composition as just “another day in the office”.

The atmosphere within which the press operate in Nigeria reflects growing incidents of brutality and harassment of journalists and media houses creating a disturbing picture of freedom of the press in Nigeria. The infamous quote of former military ruler of Uganda, Idi Amin “There is freedom of speech, but I cannot guarantee freedom after speech” may not yet be entirely a reality in Nigeria but whether the nation’s media landscape is sliding towards that part might not be completely disputed. There is no certainty of freedom for journalists in the country especially after reporting on subjects that are deemed sensitive, depending on who is angered by such report.

Nigeria is among the worst 70 countries to practice journalism in the world. The 2019 edition of World Press Freedom Ranking has shown that Nigeria is still among the most unsafe countries to practice journalism. The country’s ranking dropped to 120 from 119 it was placed in 2018. This is out of a total of 180 countries ranked in the survey.

The world press freedom index is published by Reporters Without Borders, also known as Reporters Sans Frontieres (RSF).

A total of 180 countries were captured in the survey with Norway ranked as the best country in terms of press freedom, and Turkmenistan, the worst, reports icir.

The survey noted that Nigeria, “Africa’s most populous nation has more than 100 independent newspapers and yet covering stories involving politics, terrorism or financial embezzlement by the powerful proves problematic”.

“Journalists are often threatened, subjected to physical violence or denied access to information by government officials, police and sometimes the public itself,” the report read.

The “unprecedented level of disinformation” spread by officials within Nigeria’s two major political parties during the 2019 general election was also cited as one of the reasons Nigeria dropped to 120th position.

A report released by Reporters Without Borders (RSF) captured the difficulty experienced by journalists working in Nigeria. “In Nigeria, it is difficult to cover stories involving politics, terrorism, and financial embezzlement by the powerful. Journalists are often threatened, subjected to physical violence, or denied access to information by government officials, police, and sometimes the public itself…. The all-powerful regional governors are often the media’s most determined persecutors and act with complete impunity,” the report said.

According to the RSF survey, Nigeria is ranked 35th in Africa behind countries such as Congo Brazzaville, Mozambique, and Angola.

Ghana lost its spot as Africa’s best in terms of press freedom following the murder of Ahmed Suale, an investigative journalist working with Anas Aremeyaw Anas, Ghana’s popular masked investigative reporter.

Namibia, ranked 23rd on the list, is now the best-ranked country in Africa, followed by Cape Verde (ranked 25th in the world), Ghana (27), South Africa (31) and Burkina Faso (44).

The top ten countries where the press is most free, according to the survey, are Norway, Finland, Sweden, Netherland, Denmark, Switzerland, New Zealand, Jamaica, Belgium, and Costa Rica.

The case of Jones Abiri was among terrifying developments that may have contributed to Nigeria’s worsening press freedom index as observed by RSF. On March 30, 2019, Jones Abiri, the editor and publisher of the Weekly Source newspaper based in the Bayelsa State capital, Yenagoa, was reportedly arrested a second time by the Department of State Services (DSS).

A Wisconsin man, Steve Ruppel, who has gone to see “Captain Marvel” 116 times since it was released, has broken the world record for seeing a single movie.
Ruppel’s valiant efforts did not go in vain. He did it in order to break a Guinness World Record.

“I thought it was the most insane thing ever, I thought it was impossible. I wasn’t even sure why it was even a record, but I thought after a while, ‘I should probably do that’,” Ruppel told WSAW.

Every single time he watched the film, he did it at the same place — the Marcus Cedar Creek Cinema in Rothschild, Wisconsin.
“The amount of time that it takes, I’ve had to take time off work, I would take long lunch breaks to accommodate watching an entire movie in that particular time frame. And then just time on the weekends where I’m not doing other things.”

Ruppel has seen the film seven times in one day — the most in one sitting.

That breaks down to 14 hours and 35 minutes.

A general admission ticket costs $11.61 at his theater. If that’s what he paid each time, Ruppel spent about $1,350 for the experience.

In order to verify he actually had seen the film as much, Ruppel had to take pictures at the theater and present written witness statements.
