Mass Communication is one of the courses most Universities in Nigeria want to offer from inception. In most parts of the World especially Western societies, this course is offered in the Media and Communication department, a title adopted basically to accommodate the dynamics of increasing sophistication of the society.

Whether the course is called Media and Communication, Communication and Multi-media Studies, Communication Arts, or related names, the fact is that this discipline has basic requirements which Universities should have before offering the course to the public. Joey Morris fell head over heels with RoboTroll almost two years ago after being drawn to his ‘satisfied smile’ and ‘popping’ pink hair.
The 29-year-old’s previous lovers include a lamp, a transformer truck and even a Halloween figurine.

A bride is getting ‘roasted’ online for insisting on strict wedding guests demands which have been branded unrealistic.

One her demands which has made social media users to brand her an ‘unreasonable tyrant’ is that wedding gifts must be worth $300 (about N108,000). Any guest who does not abide by the rules would sent out of the wedding venue.
The bride-to-be from the US seems to have let things go to her head, according to her sister anyway.

And things have gotten so intense that the sister no longer even wants to attend the wedding, let alone be involved with the planning, reports Mirror UK.

The unnamed sister revealed all in a post on Reddit, where she claimed to have just received a list of “attendance requirements” for the wedding.

Initially she thought the strict list of demands were a “joke” – but her mother soon confirmed they were very serious.

This list included some ridiculous rules – such as men will not be allowed to have facial hair at the wedding and gifts must be worth at least $300 (about £230).

The 2019 edition of World Press Freedom Ranking has shown that Nigeria is still among the most unsafe countries to practice journalism. The counry’s ranking dropped to 120 from 119 it was placed in 2018.
The world press freedom index is published by Reporters Without Borders, also known as Reporters Sans Frontieres (RSF).

A total of 180 countries were captured in the survey with Norway ranked as the best country in terms of press freedom, and Turkmenistan, the worst.
“Journalists are often threatened, subjected to physical violence or denied access to information by government officials, police and sometimes the public itself,” the report read.

The “unprecedented level of disinformation” spread by officials within Nigeria’s two major political parties during the 2019 general election was also cited as one of the reasons Nigeria dropped to 120th position.

Don’t let the name of the school distract you from the seriousness of the story.

Fire suspected to have been caused by electrical fault has gutted two blocks that housed six Guinea Fowl High School teachers and their families.

The school is located just outside Gweru, a city in central Zimbabwe.
This comes as a fire, also suspected to have started from an electrical fault, gutted part of Hatzell High School blocks in Mutare two weeks ago.

No one was injured in the Guinea Fowl High School fire incident which broke out at around 5PM on Tuesday.

Gweru City Council public relations officer, Mr Manford Gambiza told the Chronicle that the local authority’s Fire Brigade quickly responded and managed to put out the fire.

“We were quite responsive as it took us 10 minutes to go and put out the fire. There was extensive damage to property. We suspect an electric fault.”

The six teachers and their families have since been allocated temporary shelter in the school dormitories since they are vacant as learners are on holiday.

Midlands Provincial Education Director, Reverend Tedious Matienga said no one was injured in the incident.

The fire broke out at around 5PM on Tuesday.

Rev Matienga said they were still assessing the extent of the damage caused by the fire.

A woman has ended up in a hospital after attempting to remove fish bone stuck in her throat in the most bizarre way. She swallowed a spoon she was using to remove the bone.
Doctors in Shenzen, China recently performed an emergency endoscopy to remove a 13-centimeter metal spoon from a woman’s duodenum, after she accidentally swallowed it while trying to dislodge a fish bone from her throat, reports Oddity Central.
The patient, known only as Lily, reportedly swallowed the stainless steel spoon before the Qingming Festival on April 5, but didn’t bother going to the hospital until four days later, because she didn’t feel any pain in her stomach. She had apparently tried to use the metal spoon to remove a fish bone that had become lodged in her throat, but it accidentally slipped from her fingers and she ended up swallowing it.
The woman only went to the hospital to complain about her problem four days after the incident.
She told doctors at Shenzhen Nanshan Hospital last Monday what had happened, they ordered an X-ray and saw the large metal spoon stuck in her duodenum.

Professors, professionals and practitioners of communication in Nigeria presented new communication curricula to National Universities Commission (NUC). Proponents of the new curricula worked on it for over two years and have been advocating for its acceptance and adoption. They include professors and senior lecturers from the departments of mass communication/communication studies of numerous universities spread across the six geo-political zones of Nigeria.

Others that were part of the advocacy for acceptance of the new curricula are regulatory agencies such as the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) and Nigerian Press Council (NPC); professional bodies such as the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and Radio, Television and Theartre Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU); practitioners such as the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), print media journalists and the Director of Public Relations of the Nigerian Navy; and international development agencies such as UNESCO, UNICEF and the MacArthur Foundation.

If you are interested in studying mass communication in Nigeria or you are a graduate of this discipline, seven new courses would be replacing this degree. Here are the seven independent degree-awarding departments which the new curricula seek to establish in place of mass communication:

A man now living in Indiana is suing his parents after he says they destroyed his valuable porn collection.
The plaintiff is identified in this story as “Charlie,” as this is a civil case without any associated criminal charges.

The case dates back to October 2016 when, according to a lawsuit filed this week, Charlie moved into his parents’ home in Grand Haven after going through a divorce from his wife, reports Click2Houston.

Charlie apparently stayed for 10 months in their home, doing housework in lieu of paying rent. He was asked to leave after police had to be called to the house in August of 2017 for a domestic situation.

His parents allegedly traveled in November 2017 to his new place in Indiana to drop off possessions he had left at their home.

A deeply religious man is currently an internet sensation for choosing to abstain from food during Lent and focus on drinking only beer until Easter Sunday. Inspired by 17th century German monks who allegedly survived on a rich beer called doppelbock during Lent, an Ohio man has embarked on a 46-day beer diet, dropping all solid food until Easter Sunday.

Many Christians choose not to consume beer during Lent, as a way of abstaining for something they find pleasurable, but Dell Hall, the director of sales at Fifty West Brewing Company in Cincinnati, Ohio, is doing the exact opposite. On March 6th, he embarked on a 46-day beer diet, dropping all solid food and getting his nutrients only from beer and vitamin supplements. Although he admits the first few days were rough, Hall claims he now feels amazing and is 25 pounds lighter than when he started.

“Day two and three were pretty rough. I wanted to bash some Taco Bell after a few beers because that’s what we do,” Dell Hall told the Cincinnati Enquirer. “The last couple days I haven’t been hungry at all. I hope that’s going to be a good sign and I maintain this level of clarity.”

Although the monks that inspired his diet consumed a hearty type of beer they called “liquid bread” due to the high levels of carbohydrates it contained, Hall has opted for variety, drinking whatever beer he craves at that moment. Dell has his first beer at around noon, when the hunger really kicks in, and then a few more after work. He also drinks black coffee, unsweetened tea and sparkling water to keep himself from getting sick of beer.

A 45-year-old Kenyan man, Nicholas Muchami, has used a spade, a hoe and an axe dig a road through thick bush to nearby shops to alleviate the sufferings of his fellow villagers.

Muchami has so far cleared 1.5km (one mile) in six days - and has a short way to go to complete the road, reports The BBC.

It is on land officially earmarked for it, but attempts to get local leaders to build it have failed, he says.

He has been praised as a local hero for his efforts for Kaganda village.
Residents of the village in Muranga County, which is 80km north of the capital, Nairobi, had been using a longer 4km route to get to the shopping centre.

The BBC's Peter Mwai in Kenya says villagers had been upset because a shortcut to the shops, via a footpath passing through private land, had recently been fenced off .

This prompted Mr Muchami to take action.

"I have a lot of energy in me. I decided to volunteer," he told the BBC.

He said he had worked from 07:00 to 17:00 local time last Monday to Saturday as he wanted to complete the road before the onset of the rains.

People were incredulous that Mr Muchami, who usually earns his living doing odd jobs during the day and as a guard at night, had volunteered for the job.

Having only won two top-flight titles since 1966, Sunday’s draw against Tigre – which secured a third first division crown this century – was a big deal for Racing Club.

Two Arkansas men were arrested this week for taking turns shooting each other with a semi-automatic rifle while wearing a bulletproof vest.
50-year-old Charles Eugene Ferris was admitted to a Benton County hospital late last Sunday with a red spot on his upper chest. Doctors there notified police about the suspicious wound and in an interview with a deputy from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, the man tried to come up with a plausible explanation. He claimed that an “asset” had paid him $200 for protection and after they met with a third individual at around 10 p.m. on Sunday, a gunfight ensued. The 50-year-old told police that he had been shot several times and returned fire before escaping in a car. Luckily, he had been wearing a bulletproof vest, but the asset brought him to the hospital anyway. Unfortunately, Ferris forgot to tell his wife his version of the story, so she spilled the beans on what really happened.
According to Leslie Ferris, her husband Charles and his friend Christopher Hicks, age 36, had been drinking with Charles Hicks, 36, outside their home when gunfire erupted. She didn’t know the details, but after being confronted by investigators, Charles Ferris changed his story.

A man attempting to poach a rhino in the Kruger National Park was crushed to death by an elephant before being eaten by a pride of lions leaving behind his skull and a pair of pants, Daily Mail reports.

Three of the victim’s friends ran away after the victim was crushed by the elephant and rang his family.
The victim’s family contacted the park’s ranger service who launched a search on foot on Wednesday.

The Kruger National Park Air Wing also searched for the victim’s body but had to return to base due to failing light.

On Thursday, the search for the missing man was resumed.

According to Don English, Skukuza Regional Ranger, the man’s body was recovered near the Crocodile bridge section of the park.

According to Mr English: ‘Indications found at the scene suggested that a pride of lions had devoured the remains leaving only a human skull and a pair of pants.’

Glenn Phillips, managing executive of the reserve said: ‘Entering Kruger National Park illegally and on foot is not wise, it holds many dangers and this incident is evidence of that.

A woman has experienced the most bizarre ‘maternity’ story anyone can come across.

The 19-year-old woman from the UK went from having no idea she was pregnant to giving birth to a healthy baby girl, literally overnight, after going to bed with a flat stomach and waking up with a full-on baby bump, reports Oddity Central.
On the morning of July 17, 2018, 19-year-old Emmalouise Leggate got the shock of her life. She woke up with a baby where there hadn’t been one the night before. Alarmed, the teenager called her mom, who in turn contacted her grandmother Louise to see if she could make sense of the bulging belly. Louise could tell it was a baby bump the moment she saw it, so she drove Emmalouise to the hospital and had her wait in the car while she went in to find a midwife. Only by the time she came back, the teen had given birth in the backseat. She had only noticed the baby bump 45 minutes earlier.
The midwife came out thinking I was about to give birth and it was an unknown pregnancy. She asked how long I thought I had and was I timing it,” the 19-year-old recalled. “But then opened the car door and she was already there. I had already given birth to her.”

Except for missing her periods, which she assumed had something to do with being on contraceptive pills, Emmalouise had experienced no pregnancy symptoms. She had no morning sickness or unexplained cravings, never felt the baby kick and had no noticeable baby bump, so she never even considered getting a pregnancy test.

“I had no bump. I had put on a bit of weight, so my mum was suggesting we go out walking and do different things to burn it off because I kept going on about my weight,” Emmalouise said. “The weight was across my full body, more in my arms, legs and face than anywhere else. My stomach never grew.”

A student who can sometimes sleep for 22 hours a day has hit back at people who accuse her of being lazy. She is experiencing Kleine-Levin Syndrome, a condition that makes someone sleep non-stop for weeks, probably just waking up to eat, use the bathroom and fall asleep afterwards.
Rhoda Rodriguez-Diaz, 21, suffers with the rare sleeping beauty syndrome which, at it’s worst, has left her sleeping for up to three weeks, waking up only to eat junk food, drink and go to the toilet.

The condition got so bad that at one point she was kicked out of university for falling asleep during her exams, but has now been given a second chance.
She said: ‘Life goes on whilst I’m sleeping. Reality hits me when I wake up and realise I’ve missed like a week of my life.

‘I feel a huge setback when it does happen. I miss out on so much. That’s the hardest part of it. ‘It’s hard to explain to people where I have been. Because it’s so rare a lot of people struggle to understand.

A fearless little child is currently buzzing the internet with her crocodile-friendly hygiene show.

In the Indonesian city of Tangerang, the child was recorded brushing the teeth of a crocodile. In the video, a girl in a yellow bathing suit is sitting in a bath tub with the reptile.

She squeezes toothpaste onto a toothbrush, grabs the pet by the muzzle and starts brushing its teeth. The crocodile doesn’t move and seems rather cooperative.

In what has been described as one of the greatest security breaches in the UK parliament, some climate change protesters stripped and interrupted commons debate in a very bizarre way today.
Several of the 'Extinction Rebellion' group glued themselves to the window dividing MPs from the watching public in the biggest Commons security breach since 2014.
Labour MP Peter Kyle joked about the 'naked truth' as MPs' attention was distracted from his speech by the demonstration.Most were wearing only thong-style underwear which left little to the imagination.Shocked MPs including former Labour leader Ed Miliband glanced up at the group as they stripped off behind the glass screen that separate the chamber from the public gallery.
Some of the protesters were singing Nelly the Elephant while under the gaze of Parliamentarians.

Savannah, an English literature student from Ladbroke Grove in west London, was one of the naked protesters.

She said: ‘A bunch of people glued themselves to the window in the public gallery.

‘Everyone stripped and two people were elephants and had climate crisis written on them.

‘We were pointing at them as the elephants in the room of the Brexit debate.’

She added: ‘Personally I don’t care that much about Brexit.

‘I think it’s fine that people do but I think there are bigger things right now.

Utah Gov. Gary Herbert (R) late Wednesday signed a bill decriminalizing fornication, making it legal to have sex outside of marriage.
The law repeals the 1973 misdemeanor crime of fornication, or sex between people who are not married.

The previous law criminalizing fornication was included in the state’s criminal code chapter on offenses against the family, Fox 13 News reported.

Those found guilty could have faced up to six months in jail and a fine of $1,000. The law, however, was not pursued by police for prosecution and was not enforced.

Some conservative lawmakers in the state disapproved of the repeal, according to Fox 13.

“What is legally [right] is often far below what is morally right,” Rep. Keven Stratton (R) said when the bill passed the legislature earlier this month, according to Fox 13. “And I recognize our laws are not strong enough to rule a [sic] immoral people.”

Herbert also signed a bill earlier this week that decriminalizes adultery and sodomy among consenting adults, according to the outlet.

Yet the realistic cakes seeping fake blood and profiling severed limbs and lifelike faces have scared many online.

Tanya, an interior designer, has been forced to explain her creations are actually freshly Victoria sponge cakes.
But she was left mortified after online trolls branded her a cannibal and claimed the cakes showed real human body parts – and made them feel sick just to look at.
“I can get scared looking at them because my creations end up looking so lifelike.

“People’s reactions are hilarious – they either hate them and don’t believe it’s a cake, or love it.

“Some people have even called me a cannibal.

Police in Indonesia are currently investigating a man’s Instruments after his late wife’s dad alleged the unusually large size of the man’s penis was responsible for her death.

The police inspected the man’s “giant” penis over the death of his wife as her dad blamed the size of his Instruments during sex, Daily Star reports.

Nedi Sito found his daughter Jumantri dead in her bed at their home in Probolinggo, Indonesia.

The 55-year-old accused her husband Barsah of killing her during sex due to the size of his penis.

“Going to sleep at night, for all you know a snake might get in your shelter and you might not wake up the next morning.

“You can really step on a snake at any point and not know it, or hypothermia can get you.
“You realise: ‘Damn! This is how idiots die in the wild and are never found’.

“It was tough. Our bodies were cannibalising our muscle for energy just to stay alive.

“We wanted to do something truly inspirational and epic- once in a lifetime.

“You only live once, so you may as well do everything you can.
“We wanted to show that anybody can push themselves to the limit to a point beyond giving up in a primal situation.

The young man’s lodge is in an area where handsets are frequently snatched from students so he decided to be chaining his phone to his neck. He believes no one can snatch it and run away provided the handset is in chains.

A British woman had to go to the hospital after an intense impending orgasm triggered a stroke.
According to a new report from the British Medical Journal, the unidentified 44-year-old woman suffered a “transient loss of consciousness (TLOC)” while receiving MouthAction from her partner.
After the woman was unconscious for two to three minutes after the sex, her partner got nervous and took her to the emergency room at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London.

Once there, the man told doctors his partner’s body had gone stiff during their session. The woman told doctors she had a headache that she described as a 6 out of 10 on the pain scale, according to the The Sun.

At first, doctors believed, based on the symptoms, that the woman had suffered a seizure.

Doctors later learned she had experienced a blackout caused by a sudden lack of blood supply to the brain, also known a reflex-mediated syncope, according to IFLScience.com.
“On closer history taking, the patient reported nearing orgasm while receiving MouthAction from her partner before losing consciousness,” the authors wrote in their report for the BMJ.

A CT scan and a CT angiography showed she had an aneurysm, leading to a subarachnoid hemorrhage ― a kind of stroke.
The researchers said it’s not unheard of for orgasms to cause stroke.

The labor and delivery unit of a Maine hospital will be having a harvested babies soon where nine of its nurses will give birth to their babies around the same time.
The labor and delivery nurses at Maine Medical Center in Portland are all due between April and July.

“After each one of us started to say, ‘We’re pregnant,’ I think it was a happier kind of announcement each time, and we’re all there for each other,” nurse Erin Grenier told CNN affiliate WMTW.
The hospital announced its baby boom Monday on social media and congratulated the mothers. Eight of them were featured in a picture showing their baby bumps.

The hospital responded to some people’s concerns regarding having enough staff in the summer, commenting “Don’t worry! We have a plan.”

A man is still in shock after finding a dead mouse inside a can of Coca cola he had just finished drinking its entire content. What remained to enter his mouth was the dead rat.
The French man was shocked to find a dead mouse in the can of Coca-cola after drinking the entire beverage on his way home after work, reports Mirror UK.

Damien, 34, said he bought the drink along with a pizza at a restaurant near his workplace on March 7.

As he emptied the drink and about to throw it in a rubbish bin, the resident of Varenne-sur-Seine noticed the can still carried some weight.

He found a dead mouse inside the soft drink can, reported Le Parisien,
He said: “I immediately called Coca-Cola and they spent a good quarter of an hour trying to sort it.”

They are said to have offered him a six-pack of Coca-Colas as compensation.

Damien later received a letter from the company stating that it would be impossible for the mouse to have entered the can at any point in their production process.

He turned to the police but was told ‘to find solutions on the Internet’.

Coca-Cola requested Damien to send the can over for examination, but he refused, saying that it’s his only evidence that the incident happened at all, according to the report.

He is now storing the can in the freezer at his home.

A 32-year-old woman has died after having sex with a male partner for five consecutive hours, it is believed.
The woman known as ‘The Beast’, told her partner that she felt dizzy before going into cardiac arrest at a hotel in southern Cali, Colombia, reported La Republica.
Her partner called for emergency services but they reportedly took too long to arrive.

He then wrapped the unconscious woman in a blanket and took a taxi to the University Hospital of Valle.
However when they arrived the hospital, doctors failed to revive her and pronounced her dead.

Police officers learned later that the pair had taken drugs in attempt to prolong the sex.

It’s said that they had been having sex for five hours non-stop.
An investigation into the woman’s death has been launched to determine if the woman was a habitual drug user and if the substance had an influence on her death.
