Jozzy4:You people are always quick to call others liars, meanwhile your governing body have been feeding you lies that will be replaced with another lie tomorrow when they can no longer defend it. Is that not what you call NEW LIGHT and PROGRESSIVE understanding of scriptures? |
Janosky:Kettle calling pot black.... I was at Jehovah's witness meeting earlier this year and I was shocked when members were told to never speak to police or any authorities about other witnesses involved in crime, in other words cover up for your brothers. JWs have been covering up a lot of iniquities for ages including rape, sexual abuse, theft etc. The only difference between watch tower and other churches is doctrine, they all have same modus operandi. |
baysol:I don't worship under pastors or governing body, they are one and the same. While pastors desperately want money, governing body of Jehovah's witnesses uses every trick to control the entirety of members life. And yes, watch tower predicted Armageddon in 1914 but it never happened... |
Maximus69:Speaking of fruits that prove who is doing God's will on earth today....that's a very tricky matter. The JWs family that tried to convert me is a case study. I don't want to generalise based on few witnesses I have met, but I have this to say: An average witness girl can easily commit immorality and take in, go for several ABORTIONS but will NEVER take blood transfusion. Do you want to know why? Its because within themselves they try as much as possible to keep the APPEARANCE of godliness. I am talking from experience! Several others will rather visit witch doctors than seek miracle through prayers, again this is from what I have seen. Its all about keeping the APPEARANCE! Everyone wants to belong. Again I don't mean all JWs are like that, but just that they care more about what people will say than living to please God. |
Maximus69:You always avoid the obvious questions with another spin of a coin... Instead of pitying others, direct it to whoever believes the watch tower have the sole power to interpret scriptures. You haven't supported your progressive understanding of scriptures with any scriptures, instead you have diverted to Jonah. I don't belong to those who seek signs and wonders, besides its still the watch tower that is obsessed with SIGNS of the last days. |
Maximus69:The point I can deduce from your response are two: (1) You claim JWs are the only group that do house to house preaching.... But that's not true. Long before Watch tower came into existence Christian missionaries brought Christianity to the most distant part of the earth including Africa. Today JWs are not the only bible preachers, the fact JWs refuse to adapt to modern communication technology in dissemination of the gospel does not grant them any approval. To make it clearer, JWs have a website (jw.org), a lovely mobile app, and use of projectors in kingdom halls, but for some reason unknown to many, they tactfully avoid use of TV stations, radio stations and newspapers just to stick to the door to door preaching? I call that hypocrisy (just like the Pharisees in Jesus's day who like to pray in street corners while putting on the appearance of godliness) because of the manner in which your preaching work is done, your leaders make every witness register the number of hours they go out there preaching, they even go as far as making it appear like a competition among members to show off by reporting many hours per month. These records don't end up in kingdom halls, they go as far as the branch offices and even up to your HQ in America. Why appraise people on earth for doing God's work when the bible made it clear in Revelation 22:12 - And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be (KJV). Is the governing body (a word that can't be found in the bible) now having to power to keep record of people's work to reward them in some way? That is the reason why your so called preaching work is an eye service activity to please elders and governing body and other members in order to appear godly and just. (2) the second point I can deduce is the idea of progressive understanding of scriptures. Can you at least support this theory with scriptures? And does this apply to only JWs and not others? Because since your understanding is progressive as you claim, how come you can't give non JWs benefit of doubt that their doctrines are also progressive? If you can't apply this progressive understanding to all doctrines then that's a double standard. |
Janosky:Falsehood and lies... that's what you accuse me of right? the same thing watch tower have admitted to severally and they call it humility... |
Janosky:at bolded, watch tower have no moral justification to accuse anyone of shallowness in understanding of the scriptures, not even you! Reason is because there's no guarantee your today's understanding will be regarded as truth 10yrs from now even within your organisation.... |
Maximus69:(1) John 8:32 reads: And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free [King James Bible] Mark the phrase “the truth”…. Which means truth cannot have versions, something like “NEW development” to the truth as you put it. If truth changes like you want people to accept, what then will happen to those who believed and died in your “former understanding”? You said “the Watchtower family have declared themselves as NOT inspired”, but they still maintain that they’re the faithful and discrete slave Jesus talked about, who provides spiritual meal in due season. If these same faithful slave(s) have been wrong in their previous understanding of the scripture which have necessitated the “new light”, how can you prove the current understanding is in fact the truth? (2) The generation doctrine has been “reviewed” more than 10 times since 1975, As early as the mid 1960's, the Watchtower had strongly suggested that the 1914 generation would end by the Fall of 1975, this is 2019 and Armageddon is yet to happen. Isn’t that enough reason to discard the whole idea that “That is why this case needed extra care to handle”? (Quoting your eloquence). Not all prophesies need human interpretation, especially the ones no one can predict, like the Armageddon the Watch Tower have consistently failed in all their predictions with regards to DATE. (3) World war 1 was never what Pastor Charles Tazz Russel predicted to happen in 1914, what he predicted was Armageddon – the end of the present system of things! Obviously that didn’t happen and when the war broke out, he and his fellow travelers quickly held onto it as a significant event to validate their publications and predictions. The world war war was a coincidence at best – it was equally followed by the more devastating world war II, why did the watch tower not make a big deal from that too? A gain notice how it was convenient for the watch tower to hold onto the acclaimed invisible presence of Christ in 1914 and the invisible ousting of Satan from heaven, why would anyone believe that when all predictions that eyes could have seen failed to occur? (4) The funniest fact about JWs is that everything they accuse “Christendom” of doing is exactly what they end up doing. You said “It's the additions that's causing confusion globally in all the religions claiming Christians, instead of them to come together to resolve what's causing the division (which is the added doctrines) these religionists concluded that they're all DIFFERENT DENOMINATIONS of the same religion” - Russell left the Presbyterian Church to join the Congregational Church, he ended up founding an entire religious organization that today claims to be the only “true Christians” on earth. Not to mention the failed predictions over the years which the watch tower says are the characteristics of fake prophets. (5) You said Jehovah's Witnesses are globally known for their house to house evangelizing, that much is true, but they are not the only group doing that – the following Christian group also do house to house preaching: • Bible Studies Fellowship, headquarters in San Diego, Ca. • Bible Way Publications, Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. • Christian Millennial Fellowship, Hartford, Conn. Publishes the New Creation magazine. • Christian Renewal Ministry, Saratoga, Ca. • Church of God of Abraham, Wenatchee, Wa. Publishes Notes for Bible Students newsletter • Dawn Bible Students, East Rutherford, N.J. One of the original splinter groups formed after Joseph Rutherford became president. All these are splinter groups from the watch tower organization. |
Jozzy4:The Watch Tower have a habit of stretching the scriptures to suite whatever plan they have, first they overstretched Nebuchadnezzar's dream to mean more than his 7yrs madness which landed the sect into the 1914 controversy, till date that has become their biggest error. Secondly they read more into Jesus's words (Matthew 24:34 [King James Bible] Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.) to the Jews concerning the Roman invasion that ended the Jewish nation in the first century, every bible student understands that to mean the invasion will happen while the generation listening to the sermon are still alive. The Siege of Jerusalem in 70 AD when the Romans destroyed much of the Temple in Jerusalem fulfilled Jesus's prophesy, but just like the Watch Tower read more into Nebuchadnezzar's dream, they also made same mistake twice by over stretching the scripture which always put them into thesame mess, which is: "the 1914 controversy" Revelation 22:18 says: [King James Bible] For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: Clearly the over zealous men in your organisation have added to the scriptures more than once which means they'll receive their plague in due time. The only defense most of JWs have to justify their doctrines is the fact they claim to be the only group going door to door to preach, but what good does it do for Christ to go house to house teaching errors? The Watch Tower checks all the boxes of a false prophet which is: consistently lying and trying to cover up with another lie |
Maximus69:Nothing happened in 1919, if you hold unto 1919 it means you are still holding unto the expired 1914 doctrine. See below why only ignorant fellows believed the ideas you pasted up there: Watchtower Society Redefines '1914 Generation' James K. Walker People alive in 1914 may not live to see Armageddon after all, according to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society's latest doctrinal revision. In the 1 November 1995 Watchtower, Jehovah's Witnesses abandoned their decades-long belief that Christ's. words "This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled" (Matthew 24:34) was a reference to the people living in 1914 (p. 17). Simultaneously, the Watchtower dropped all reference to 1914 from their Awake! magazine's "Why Awake! Is Published" masthead. The previous version read: "Most important, this magazine builds confidence in the Creator's promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away" (22 October 1995). The new version reads "Most important, this magazine builds confidence in the Creator's promise of a peaceful and secure new world that is about to replace the present wicked lawless system of things" (8 November p. 4). With those alive in 1914 being at least in their 80s, the Watchtower was apparently willing to concede that the time had expired on their 1914 prediction. Critics and former members had anticipated that the Watchtower's leaders would eventually be forced to make some change in the 1914 doctrine (See Expositor, Vol. 9, No. 6; Vol. 12, No. 3). George Weissman, who left the Watchtower in 1992, told the Los Angeles Times, "I've been waiting to see how they were going to wriggle out of 1914" (21 October 1995). Calling it a "more precise viewpoint," the Society attempts to salvage portions of their earlier 1914 doctrine while avoiding its obvious weakness (Watchtower, 1 November 1995, p. 20). They still teach that 1914 started the "last generation," but they have changed their definition of the word "generation." Rather than a reference to people who were living in 1914, the term generation now means an unspecified length of time that is relatively short "compared with the thousands of years of Satan's rulership" (Ibid., pp. 18-19). This new doctrine buys the Watchtower some much needed time. In a telephone interview with Watchman Fellowship, Malcolm Allen, a local Watchtower leader, could give no "biblical" reason why Armageddon could not be hundreds of years away according to this new interpretation. By solving one problem the Watchtower has created several others. Critics now have more opportunity to raise questions concerning false doctrine and failed prophecy (See related story: "A Watchtower History of 1914" p. 4). Even the Watchtower's staunchest supporters may have reason to be troubled by the new doctrine. Many loyal witnesses, quite naturally, have made important personal education and career decisions based on the "Creator's promise" that the end would come within the lifetime of those alive in 1914. It is easy to see how plans concerning children, savings, finance, and even life insurance would be greatly influenced by the promise that God's "peaceful and secure new world" would arrive during the life span of those alive in 1914. They would have every right to be upset or have doubts concerning their leaders after they announce this "more precise viewpoint." Similar reinterpretations led to hge losses in membership following failed predictions concerning 1925 and 1975 (Jehovah's Witnesses Proclaimers of Christ's Kingdom, p. 633). "Sheep and Goat Judgment" Also Delayed In a related move, the Watchtower has also announced that the current door-to-door work is not the sheep and goats judgment spoken of by Jesus. For decades the Watchtower claimed that knocking on doors and making converts was "separating the sheep from the goats" judgment foretold by Christ (Matthew 25:31-46). After 1914 failed to bring Armageddon as originally announced, the Watchtower had slowly reinterpreted their prediction claiming that 1914 was the year that Jesus "sat down in judgment" in heaven. Since 1914, the Watchtower had supposedly been helping Jesus with that judgment by "separating the sheep from the goats." The "sheep" were those who became Jehovah's Witnesses and supported the Watchtower while the "goats would be "destroyed because they fail to help Christ's anointed 'brothers' in their service to God" (You Can Live Forever in Paradise on Earth, p. 183). Apparently the Society feels that the judgment period has stretched too far. Its been over 80 years since the judgment began in 1914. They are now saying the Bible, "does not show that such judging would continue over an "extended period of many years" (Watchtower, 15 October 1995, p. 22). So the Society now says that Christ sat down as King in 1914, but he did not sit down as Judge in that year. "Although Jesus is now King of the Kingdom, his further activity mentioned in Matthew 19:28 will include sitting on a throne to judge during the Millennium. At that time he will judge all mankind. . ." (Watchtower, 15 October 1995, p. 21). So the sheep and goats judgment is not current since 1914, it is the future - during the Millennium. The importance of this doctrinal change is magnified by the fact that the Watchtower had in effect caled their old interpretation a revelation from Jehovah. They claimed that, "The Lord revealed to his people the meaning of the parable of the sheep and the goats, showing how the 'sheep' only would be spared by Jehovah when his wrath is expressed at Armageddon. All this information came not from or by man, but by the Lord God. . ." (Watchtower, 1 February 1938, p. 35). Obviously, their old interpretation could not have been "revealed" by Jehovah since they now admit that their old "meaning of the parable" was wrong. Moreover, how can only those judged as "sheep" be spared, and the "goats" be destroyed, at Armageddon, when the "sheep and goats judgment" does not take palce until during the Millennium, after - not before - Armageddon. Both doctrinal changes are seen by critics as delaying tactics, although the Watchtower denies this motive. "Officials of the Watchtower. . .deny that the leadership felt a generational pressure to change," says Witness spokesman Bob Pevey (Newsweek, 18 December 1995, p. 59). While these new doctrines may provide the Jehovah's Witnesses some much needed breathing room, in the end they may suffocate the Watchtower with the most damaging and conclusive charges of false prophecy to date. |
baysol:In that case you are d ignorant fellow here, u fell for some bunch of Americans who told u they were selected as faithful and desecrate slave in 1919 based on Jesus coming in 1914 which never happened. Who is ignorant here? |

For over 10yrs I associated with jw but the more I study with them the more I see how decayed their teachings are. The foundation is the most controversial and they base the core of their faith in 1914, a date that have proven to be in error with the passing of time. Right now I nolonger adhere to any religion because I see all of them as the same, with one thing in common, which is: to control others! |

THE funding positions of seven commercial banks are inadequate, the result of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) stress test released on Thursday, has shown. The financial stability report signed by CBN Director, Financial Policy and Regulation Department, Kelvin Amugo, showed that in the less than 30-day period analysis, seven banks were not adequately funded, while in the 31 to 90-day period, nine banks had funding gaps. The report, however, said the cumulative position for the industry showed an excess of N4.8 trillion assets over liabilities. The seven banks were, however, not named by the apex bank. Nigeria has 24 banks. The report, which covered the period ended December 2018, showed that six banks accounted for 82 per cent (N252.00 billion) of total placements and 86 per cent (N 266 billion) of total takings, of which 71 per cent (N190 billion) was provided by the top four placers of funds. The stress test result revealed that, after a one-day run scenario, the liquidity ratio for the industry declined to 34.69 per cent from the 51.87 per cent pre-shock position and to 17.55 and 13.48 per cent after a five-day and cumulative 30-day scenarios. The result also revealed that, under five-day and cumulative 30-day run scenarios on the banking industry, liquidity shortfalls declined to N1.58 trillion and N1.98 trillion. The results of the stress test of default in exposure to the oil and gas sector showed that the banking industry could withstand up to 50.00 per cent default as the post-shock Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) remained at 10.24 per cent. The results of the stress tests on the net position of interest sensitive instruments showed that the banking industry would maintain a stable solvency position to interest rate shock of up to 1000 basis points downward shift in yield curve as the post-shock CAR declined marginally from 15.26 to 13.41 per cent. The industry pre-shock assets and liabilities maturity profile at end-December 2018 revealed that the shorter end of the market less than 90 day buckets were adequately funded. Contagion risk from the unsecured transactions in the interbank market was moderate at end- December 2018. The results of simulated conditional counter-party default from unsecured interbank loans indicated low risk as the banks, except two, maintained post-shock CAR above 10 per cent. The Implied Cash Flow Analysis (ICFA) assessed the ability of the banking system to withstand unanticipated substantial withdrawals of deposits, short-term wholesale and long-term funding over five days and cumulative 30 days, with specific assumptions on fire sale of assets. The test assumed gradual average outflows of 3.8, 5.0 and 1.5 per cent of total deposits, short-term funding and long-term funding respectively, over a 5-day period and a cumulative average outflow of 22.0, 11.0 and 1.5 per cent of total deposits, short-term funding and long-term funding respectively, on a 30-day balance. It also assumed that the assets in Table 3.10 would remain unencumbered after a fire sale. Also, reported cases of fraud and forgeries by banks increased to 25,029 at end-December 2018 from 20, 774 at end-June 2018. However, the total amount involved decreased to N18.94 billion at end- December 2018 from N19.77 billion at end-June 2018. Similarly, actual losses declined to N2.21 billion at end-December 2018 from N12.10 billion in the first half of 2018.The total number of reported fraud cases in OFIs stood at 754 at end-December 2018, while the actual loss of N120.98 million was recorded during the same period. Automated Teller Machine (ATM) and mobile channels recorded the highest incidence of fraud. To tackle this trend, bank customers were continually sensitised on safe banking practices while banks were encouraged to implement strong authentication controls and carry out comprehensive infrastructure risk assessments. A total of 1,612 complaints from consumers of financial services were received in the period under review, indicating an increase of 173 complaints or 12.02 per cent over the 1,439 received in the first half of 2018. Of this number, 1,602 complaints or 99.38 per cent were against banks, while 10 complaints or 0.62 per cent were against OFIs. The complaints were in various categories, such as Excess/Unauthorised charges, Frauds, Guarantees, Dispense errors, Funds Transfers. A total of 1,496 complaints were successfully resolved or closed in the period under review, compared with 4,723 in the first half of 2018, indicating a decrease of 3,227 or 215.71 per cent. Total claims made by complainants during the period amounted to N7.995 billion and US$1.767 million, while the sums of N3.093 billion and US$1.724 million were refunded to customers. Amugo said the banking industry’s outlook is positive, given the expected enhanced capital base for most banks arising from the capitalisation of year 2018 profits in the first half of 2019. However, banks’ exposure to the oil and gas sector as well as the implementation of International Financial Reporting Standard 9 (IFRS 9) remains a threat to overall profitability. “The CBN will continue to collaborate with the fiscal authority and other financial services regulators to address the observed challenges towards ensuring that the gains made are sustained to reinforce financial system stability,” he said. During the review period, seven banks were categorised as Domestic Systemically Important Banks (D-SIBs). The banks were selected based on the D-SIB supervisory framework, given their size, interconnectedness, substitutability and complexity. The D-SIBs accounted for 63.80 per cent of the industry total assets of N35.10 trillion and 65.23 per cent of the industry total deposit of N21.73 trillion as well as 66.00 per cent of the industry total loans of N15.34 trillion. The examination revealed that the D-SIBs were largely in compliance with the regulatory requirements, including capital adequacy and liquidity ratios. The average CAR for the D-SIBs stood at 19.82 per cent, while liquidity ratio stood at 46.29 per cent. There was an improvement in non-performing loans ratio from 11.31 per cent at end-June 2018 to 9.82 per cent at end- December 2018. https://www.financialwatchngr.com/2019/10/18/breaking-seven-nigerian-banks-in-distress-n18-9b-lost-to-fraudsters/ Cc puskin dominique FOD naijacutee |
