Before you can say "this or that is what Jesus taught" you must be prepared to present a group practicing it which definitely should be your own church or group but when you claim Jesus taught something yet you can't point to any group practicing it that is delusion! embarassed

So tell me what Jesus taught that i said the opposite and the group practicing it! smiley

PulsingPurple:
Was rushing to type.

Meant to say:

If we try to follow this idea of everyone being "sure" of what they were pushing about the other's religion, then to me you've said many wrongs about my religion, and I've said many wrongs about yours too.

That aside.

Let's focused on the bolded you typed.

The point I'm trying to pass is that if everyone follows that idea of being sure, then anytime you speak about Christianity, everyone true Christian will tell you:

"You are a liar, that's not what Jesus Christ teaches"

Just the same way to you:

"I am a liar, that's not what Jehovah's Witnesses teaches"

I don't know if you get the point now?

As for my religion and your conclusions, I don't even know what's the basis for concluding but we talked about all those in the past. 😅
I pushed to continue those conversations back then but I think you didn't reply as I expected so the conversation eventually ended. Some of those comments and replies I made on that thread, I later deleted them at some point and you got to know it later, if you remember.

I even went as far as inviting you to a new dormant thread to continue this talk about my religion (and people's religion in general) but you never responded.

These days I have only enough strength to say I'm a Christian. That's all. 😌

So yhh, back to the points we were making:
I misrepresent your religion. No offence but you can't really complain seeing that you misrepresent mine too.
That's been the norm for a while. It's awful.

(I took note of the correction you made sha).

Don't worry you're safe.
I think it's okay since it goes in the reverse as well.

If everyone tried to be be "sure" of what they were pushing about the other's religion, then to me you've said many wrongs about my religion, and I've said many wrongs about yours too.

We won't go there sha, we've been there before 😏
I don't want to say you are lying because the essence of pointing out what you said tthat's incorrect is to make you know so you won't say it before someone who will tell you:

"You are a liar, that's not what Jehovah's Witnesses teaches"

So please correct me in whatever i have said about your religion that's incorrect so i will never repeat it again because to me you don't have any religion! undecided

Okay, everlasting life for witnesses and everlasting damnation (aka burning forever in hell) for others. Nice 👍

Now please tell me (summarily), how or why did you become a member of the JW ?
And also, if you were born somewhere in the middle east to a devout Muslim parents, do you think you would still be a witness ?
Why not ask what the Bible says about the highlighted instead of concluding based on what other religions told you?

Well the Bible God has no intention of roasting people in fire that's what false religions teaches. Jeremiah 7:31
God said since we all have expiration dates only those who complied with His requirements will be spared from this condition as He will reward them with immortality! Psalms 37:9-11, 29

As for death God promised to erase it forever! Isaiah 25:8

Well you may be shocked to know that i was a Muslim and there are JWs in all Islamic countries throughout the world!

I really don't have the energy to respond to this now.
But just tell me summarily what do you stand to benefit as Jehovah Witnesses that other Christians or even other people will not have access to ? Or in other words, if I am not a Jehovah's Witness, what am I loosing or what will I lose ?
I love this because that's exactly what all sincere and honest hearted individuals are asking. So i will try to be as brief as possible!
Now let's go straight to the Bible and see the answer Jesus gave to one of his friends when the man asked this same question!

Jesus Kept talking about everlasting life and what those who aren't his disciples will miss so Peter one of his closest confidants asked Jesus:

“Look! We have left all things and followed you; what, then, will there be for us?” Matthew 19:27

Peter asked this same question because himself and others have left all things just to be with Jesus.

Jesus answered:

“Truly I say to you, no one has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for my sake and for the sake of the good news who will not get 100 times more now in this period of time—houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and fields, with persecutions—and in the coming system of things, everlasting life." Mark 10:29-30

So my friend, only Jehovah's Witnesses can connect with millions of people from different nations throughout the earth to make themselves one big and family of peace loving worshipers which God has always wanted and it's only those who made themselves part of this global family of peace that God is ready to give what Jesus called EVERLASTING LIFE! smiley

If it is this argument, after commending Max for being a fellow believer, I'll still join and bash the claims and as usual he might respond till we hit redundancy. 😅

All in all, the idea that about 144,000 people only will be saved means that a majority of the JWs will face the same fate with me.

Every body pushing true Christianity will somehow convince you to just love and contribute your best towards humanity, especially to those who might be at the lowest of lows (in the morally upright ways).

Combine this with the mindset that there's a loving creator somewhere and that he's reached out to you, and that's where most of us agree, and I'm sure we can gain some points for passing basic requirements, without needing to go into details of doctrines.
The highlighted is misconstrued!
Millions of people will be saved but only 144,000 will become Christ's corulers and he promised to take them to another destination {John 14:1-3} after Jerusalem has been profaned with the blood of God's prophets! Matthew 21:43; 23:37-38

So don't think it's only 144,000 people will be saved because even i that's talking to you am not one of the 144,000 and none of God's servants who lived before John the baptist qualifies to be part of that list! Matthew 11:11
Christianity Etc › Re: All ATHEIST Arguments Explained by MaxInDHouse(m):
AlbertNewton:
[1] What makes them the "true worshippers" ?

[2] Who declared them as such ?

[3] So you're basically saying that billions of other Christians don't know what they are doing ?
[1] The Bible God promised to unite His worshipers and make them go throughout the earth in search of friends of peace {Isaiah 2:2-4; Micah 4:1-3} by the time they gets to understand His word correctly among themselves the whole world will notice it because it will seem as if these people from different nations have started speaking the same language which means there will be understanding among them {Zephaniah 3:9} in fact people will start saying about them "don't mind that religion, they love only their members" because it will be so glaring that there is a strong bond permeating their gathering! John 13:34-35
So when Jesus of Nazareth said there is a kind of fruit expected of the only true religion {Matthew 7:16-18} many sincere people are now getting the sense that this fruit is LOVE! 1John 4:8 compare to John 13:34-35

[2] The true God declared it but you can't know if you refuse to study the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses. Before the year 1931 the whole world only knows Bible carriers as Christians though there are thousands of different religions with contradicting teachings and conflicting doctrines all claiming Christians which is an insult to the Bible God making Him appear like a confusionist {1Corinthans 14:33} but according to His Son all His worshipers supposed to have the same line of thought throughout the world {John 17:22; 1Corinthans 1:10} so after the Bible students association (formed in the late 1800s) got things right the Bible God fulfilled His promise by giving them another group name which makes them totally different from all others claiming Christians:
JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES! Isaiah 65:15
Today there is no country where these people can't be found in fact they are in the world's most racist nations yet they are united in faith and love with their fellow believers in other lands!

[3] That is obvious from what we can all see! You said the Bible God is bloodthirsty, tribalistic monster but you'll be shocked to know the truth about Him.
How can you call someone bloodthirsty when the only language ancient people back then understands is violence?
Imagine this God who claims He is the Creator of all things sending two feeble octogenarians to the world's first most powerful king in human history begging Him to release the descendants of Jacob by performing miracles to prove His powers only for this King to call out his own magicians to do the same!
Some people often say God hardened the heart of Pharaoh but they don't know what that phrase means it doesn't mean God is making Pharaoh to disobey Him rather it simply means God didn't touch the man in a way that he will fear.
For instance imagine if God wants to deal with the president of Russia for tackling Ukraine and what God did is to send someone to tell him "stop attacking Ukraine or you will die within seven days" of course the man will take it as a joke but what if he fell sick at the moment and the sickness is getting worse to the point he couldn't even raise his hands? Do you think he won't order his armies to retreat when he notice his condition keeps getting worse as each day passes?
Well that's what the Bible God meant as He allows Pharaoh to continue feeling he is still in control not until he lost his first son along with millions of firstborn in Egypt!
This thing God did to send a warning signal to all the occupants of Canaan that the most high God is coming with the Israelites yet the inhabitants of that land were planning to fight against Him!
Well the words of Rahab a prostitute in Jericho shows that they were stupid! Joshua 2:9-13
Is that the only person who feared God in Canaan?
No!
There was another tribe called Gibeonites! Joshua 9:3-15

Do you know a better way God could have handled the situation?

Simple!
“I believe in God but I have Him and won't give Him credits” ≠ Atheism.

There's only two definitions: “I don't believe in your own God“ and “Personally, I don't believe at all“.

The aggressive version of no. 1 is too popular on NL unfortunately.
The highlighted is correct!

Category A: "i don't believe in your God"
They are in different religionists claiming Christians, Muslims and Judaists.
What they are saying in essence is "do whatever pleases you and don't question what i too choose to do"
If you agree with them then they'll welcome you as their fellow worshiper but once you try to compel them to agree on the same standard there will be trouble!

Category B: "Personally i don't believe at all" This aren't atheists for real because they want to have a reason to believe in what you call 'GOD' so if you have what it takes to convince them they will yield.

But as for category A those ones just don't want to be questioned on whatever they choose to do even when you are willing to yield to a yardstick they prefer they don't just don't want to hear of any restraint! smiley
Christianity Etc › Re: Another Invitation To Critical Reasoning by MaxInDHouse(m): 6:54pm On Jul 22, 2025
The truth of this matter is that there are 98% of atheists practicing false religions while some believers are claiming atheists it's just 2% that are atheists and knows what they are doing.
The screenshot below explains it all!
PulsingPurple:
At this point it's just like someone telling me that water is liquid. I already know, believe, trust.
Those who don't believe, I can only try to understand them, even possibly convince, I don't gain or lose anything.
It's not even worth arguing sometimes. The very concept of a God is self explanatory in itself, the proofs are so obvious that people have to set up structures to worship they just can't hold the idea that all these is just some random coincidence in the middle of nowhere, by nothing. Science displays what can be interpreted as a hierarchy of ranking across all species, substances, plants, social ranking, name it, but people choose to say the highest tier in the ranking of the universe is some random dust that appeared from nowhere. Earth alone has shown us there's always a creator—creation relationship everywhere (look around you and point anything) but they choose the idea that whatever created this level of intelligence somehow has zero capacity of intelligence. To any atheist out there: Make this claim sound intelligent please.
Their fellow scientists are already adjusting, allowing space to attribute everything to an intelligent designer.
Reaching out to space hoping to hear they're not alone and that something more intelligent is out there. At the end of the day I think there's two main types of atheists: Those who just hate God from a personal perspective, and just like critics, they'll criticize every idea that aims to glorify their enemy. Take a cue from Messi vs. Ronaldo arguments, iPhone vs. Samsung... Arguments that could sound sensible but these category of people are just here to spew before thinking. (Same goes for religious people btw). There's the other calm group of atheists who just don't believe.
They're sensible enough to analyse all the points from both end but they can't convince themselves of God's existence. Those types are rarely seen on Nairaland 😂

Christianity Etc › Re: Is Idolatry Wrong? by MaxInDHouse(m): 5:58pm On Jul 22, 2025
lawani:
What I am addressing is what Christians and Muslims have turned it to. They are saying it is a sin against God. What does it truly mean with respect to JW?
No true Christian will tell you worshipers of Ṣàngó, Ògún, Ọbàtálá, Ọ̀ṣẹ̀rẹ̀màgbò or any other deity is commiting idolatry!

The Bible God doesn't accuse people who doesn't know Him as idolaters because they don't have His laws so it's impossible for them to worship what they don't know.

An idolater from the viewpoint of the Bible God is anyone who vows to keep the laws of a deity but goes behind to do something else, for instance an individual claiming Christian who is committing fornication or adultery or who trust in material possessions is an idolater:

Deaden, therefore, your body members that are on the earth as respects sexual immorality, uncleanness, uncontrolled sexual passion, hurtful desire, and greediness, which is idolatry. Colossians 3:5

Do you notice what the Bible called idolatry?

That's why Paul the apostle said:

I pummel my body and lead it as a slave, so that after I have preached to others, I myself should not become disapproved somehow. 1Corinthans 9:27

Because he knows what IDOLATRY truly means.

So to the Bible God a worshiper of other Gods who is sincere and honest hearted with what he knows is free of such accusations because that's what he knows:

For when people of the nations, who do not have law, do by nature the things of the law, these people, although not having law, are a law to themselves. They are the very ones who demonstrate the matter of the law to be written in their hearts, while their conscience is bearing witness with them, and by their own thoughts they are being accused or even excused. Romans 2:14-15

So the Bible God doesn't view people who don't know His ways as evildoers rather it's people who knows the right thing but chose doing the wrong thing!

It should be illegal for anyone to be saying publicly that idolatry is bad or that God opposes it. Nobody should be allowed to be saying the almighty father God is burning idolators in hell fire. All human cultures know what God opposes and that is evil doing. Nobody needs to be taught what is evil.
Religionists are just using the idolatry is bad argument to cause problems all over the world. Just like your earthly parents can not say do not greet other people, the almighty Father God too can not say do not worship lesser Gods.
The religionists are just using their mentality to cause problems worldwide and it is high time the governments of the world rose to stop it. A stitch in time saves nine.

Christianity Etc › Re: All ATHEIST Arguments Explained by MaxInDHouse(m): 3:50pm On Jul 22, 2025
AlbertNewton:
The bolded is true. And I think that's largely because the biblical god has become the most popular of all the numerous gods out there. Furthermore, there's a book, the bible, that's purported to contain accounts of the deeds and words of this god, providing disprovable grounds to argue for or against the realness or existence of such an entity. Through the omniscience and omnipotence qualities often attributed to it, the biblical god also comes the closest to what might "make sense" for a creator of the universe to be like. In a way, if it can be established that the biblical god is not real, then we can safely say that none of the other gods can be real!

I was raised in a Christian home, but as a result of the stupid and evil things that were recorded God did (and said) in the bible, as well as the ridiculousness of the idea of heaven and hell, I couldn't see the biblical god as real let alone as the creator of the universe. And because I can't find a better replacement for the biblical god, I ended up an atheist.
Since we are yet to fully grasp existence (the cause and the purpose of it), I'm all for the possibility that there could be some entity out there that actually created the universe, but I'm convinced it's not the blood-thirsty, tribalistic monster talked about in the bible.
The highlighted often amuse me because most of you never studied the Bible with the true worshipers of the Author! smiley

We're only human, pride won't let us... 😅
Meanwhile I'm looking for one serious atheist to come and continue a conversation that one of their friends couldn't hold together.
An individual may claim he is a Christian, Muslim, Traditionalist, Buddhist, Judaist, Hindu, Atheist, Agnostic or Freethinker one secret behind the title "GOD" that affects us all is the meaning of that title:

SUPREME BEING!

No matter what you claim to be the thoughts, words and actions of people around you will continue to affect you in one way or another positively or negatively.

But how do we come to terms on how to cohabit peacefully as one family?

Surely we need a source of guidance that's effective in this regard so that we can all live peaceably with one another.

Well that brings us all back to what most choose to ignore or avoid the importance of a supreme being who is not partial.

Of course we can't easily choose one as we all know that there are thousands of deities worshiped in ancient times till today.

That's why i believe the man from the city of Nazareth called Jesus that truly he is the Son of God because throughout history no philosopher has influenced mankind to the point of gathering people in their millions from different nations so that they are able to prove this man once walked this planet just as he predicted saying:

"You will receive power when the holy spirit comes upon you, and you will be witnesses of me in Jerusalem, in all Ju·deʹa and Sa·marʹi·a, and to the most distant part of the earth.” Act 1:8

What power could make individuals from different nations form a global family of peace loving worshipers {Isaiah 2:2-4; Micah 4:1-3} in a world that's filled with hatred if not the power from GOD who created us all?

So anyone can claim anything but one thing is certain Jesus of Nazareth has proved through the activities of his disciples today that there is one loving SUPREME BEING who is willing to unite people of all races! Zephaniah 3:9 smiley

What do you understand prophecy to be. It's foretelling the future events. This they have done several times and all have failed.
Go and search the Internet for their many failed prophecies.
Prophecy means saying what will happen in the future.
Jehovah's Witnesses have stick to what is prophesied in the Bible about the New Earth God promised and they keep on proclaiming it year after year just as the first century disciples of Christ were doing as their leader commanded them.

So if anyone say Jehovah's Witnesses are false prophets for repeating what John the baptist and Jesus of Nazareth predicted two thousand years ago then it means John the baptist and Jesus of Nazareth who started it back then were false prophets too.

Do you agree with that?

Because Jehovah's Witnesses aren't the ones who started it they are only following the footsteps of John the baptist and Jesus of Nazareth! smiley
