Old testament said, God said, let US create man in our image. That US alone and the many other places including John 1:1-3 suppose make you relax. Jesus is the creator of the world. How then is he not God according to those scriptures I listed. Or are you trying to say angel Michael created all things? Jesus asked the Jews: which is easier? To simply say be healed or to say your sins are forgiven? But that he said it so that the Jews can know he has the power to forgive sins. Bible says Jesus was the creator, jesus forgives sins and that jesus seats in the very right hand side of the father- what does that tell you? It tells you that the father and Jesus are co-rulers pending when the future earthly kingdom is handed over to Jesus.

First let's talk about the word "REPENT"

It connotes a turn around which means Jews already has an inheritance from their ancestors but they have left it now the word REPENT has to do with their going back to their root.
So back then in the first century when John the baptist utter this word the Jews listening to him were caught to the heart knowing fully well they had turned aside from the covenant their ancestors had with the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Peter undoubtedly reechoed the same word to make them see how far they have derailed from God's promises to their forefathers.

That's what abuse of the scripture means. Content and context has nothing to do with any elder.

Application of scriptures is what we remind one another of. Remember Paul once reproved Peter for walking disorderly {Galatians 2:11-14} so if Paul could reprove Peter surely elders can do likewise to readjust our thinking on what the scriptures teaches to maintain orderliness in body of Christ.

So Paul can only show gentiles how to apply the law of Christ not teach what is contrary to the decision of the Governing Body in Jerusalem!
