Revelation was written by John according to the revelations he saw.

So it's still Jesus who always speak in Idioms {Matthew 13:13} that sent an angel to show John in a vision which means John wasn't preaching rather he's only recording what Jesus sent his angel to show him!

Jesus talked about a time when so many things will happen simultaneously and concluded saying:
Truly I say to you that this generation will by no means pass away until all these things happen. Matthew 24:34
He was referring to the generation that will witness the composite signs of his presence when he is enthroned in heaven.
To fully understand what Jesus said the question you should have asked is why would have so many bad things happen on planet earth when Jesus begins his rulership in heaven? Revelation 7:7-12
