To be fair to those parents, it is women's nature. Just as I explained in the link I mentioned, women are hypergamous (a global phenomenon), and as their education and earning capabilities soar, so do their aspirations. Even for men, it is the same. Beauty isn't just a factor these days, but a woman's educational qualifications and earning capability (even though most men aren't necessarily interested in a woman's money). So, times have changed, but women have maintained their hypergamy steadfastly. The issue for women and policymakers (as referenced in that link) is that there are fewer men who have the profile that these women desire. This is why even though there are more men than women anywhere in the world, there are more marriageable women than marriageable men.



Only Islamic countries would be able to withstand it. The women empowerment movement has sailed and the world isn't returning to the '60s. Women sef no go gree. But what I presage is an abundance of single women in advanced ages, men deliberately being single, a significant proportion of the population having children outside marriage, a rise in divorce cases, alternative marriage arrangements etc. The West (North America & Europe) are already there. Na for parts of Asia, Africa and other parts of the world to catch up. It is inevitable.



No wonder. Lagos is an anomaly (not a bad meaning) in this analysis as it is cosmopolitan. So, Yoruba women there will adopt values different from their kith elsewhere in the region. It is the same with Igbo women. Those based in Lagos and Abuja differ from those in the East. People in cosmopolitan areas tend to be more opinionated (largely because of the financial power) and liberal. Sometimes, they tend to be aggressive because of the fierce competition for scarce resources. A way to check for this is to compare educated women working in civil service in, say, Ekiti vs those in Lagos. There would be differences. Islam on its own already tames feminism, so we focus on Yoruba Christians.

Yes the southwest would have been infiltrated with the feminist ideology if there have been no islamic presence. I agree the religion has a positive remarks on this.
Most educated parents has this sense of believe that their daughters are entitled to marry someone with higher level of education, even without no job o they believe miracles will happen somedays. Compared to someone with lower educational background and a trade skill already making a life for emself they'll choose the former.
If they ended up choosing you as a skilled labor/ trades man then you've agreed to step up your education qualifications.

So, does this mean that there is a rise in divorce cases amongst educated women whose husbands aren't as educated as they are (women)? Also, if you note the cultural differences between the East and West, parents go ahead with blind dates for their children; I doubt that is possible with Eastern women, especially as the children are scattered across the country more than women from the southwest. For instance, there are more Igbos in the southwest than Yorubas in the east (both genders). So, maintaining control isn't that easy.

Some houses have became divided and both couples divorced but those avoiding social backlash ended up living in same house as strangers.
In some cases the husband ends up submitting to the wife cos she's earning more.
Other times it becomes some kind of competition whereby the the wife secures properties without the husband knowledge.

This are my observation around most places in lagos which is just one part in the southwest, in context when i mention the southwest.

Which brings me to another research question: Which ethnic groups in Nigeria have the highest number of unmarried women above 30? And what could the reasons be? Nigerian ethnic groups with the highest rate of single mothers? Why? What are the factors?

Yeah, that is one of the reasons being peddled largely because of limited economic resources resulting from the Civil War. It is happening in the West (abroad) too. Another reason for Igbos' own is the adoption of the Western version of Christianity and its corresponding values, both good and bad. Western values promote freedom of thought, speech and ideas. The complete adoption of those values without factoring in cultural differences is a recipe for disaster.

I was having a conversation with an igbo man, he's older than I am, and I reasoned with his point.
He said one of the factors is exposure to education at an early age for the ladies meanwhile the men on the other side are often expected to travel out to the city to hustle, leaving the women with an advantage over the men in terms of education, at the end of the day the men after making it comes back to pick a wife and the both parties doesn't interest each other anymore sighting the imbalance between them, so the dude looks for a feminine young lady to marry and sponsor.

I don't know if you notice this has been happening here in the west too, the parents spends ridiculous fees to sponsor their female children to school whereas the male counterpart is on the street hustling his life some even ended up becoming nuisances and at the end of the day the lady won't want to marry down and ended up becoming one bitter feminist. In some case, the parents finds a partner for their kids through blind dates and after having more than one kid they divorce cos the lady is claiming the role of an alpha.

I attend once in a while, I realized at some point having personal relationship with God is the real deal, any church or organization are just there to use you, reprogram you till you become worthless worst of all you're forced to follow the crowd cause you're scared of being alone or shunned out of the social structure.

See my post above. Actually the government just said, let's stop wasting resources trying to artificially hold up naira (with the attendant round-tripping, corruption, black market, hoarding, and speculation) and just let the market decide it's value with everything transparent.
No way it can be a bad thing in the long run.

Until when did they start to implement the floating of the naira, I guess it's not up to two weeks now.
Which means the government has been deceitful all this while, somehow the government was still using some means to purchase the dollar at cheap rate through banks until lately the official rate matches the parallel.
So it's right to say the government has not been transparent whatsoever.
All the methods adopted to build the economy up to this moment is one sided and detriment to the live hood of the citizens and no investor will want to risk their funds into a temporary and fluctuating economy.

Assuming it's the president, that means he can print money and buy whatever he wants, e.g Biden printing billions and sending to Ukraine.
He can PRINT any amount he likes and easily become the richest man.
There will be loss of productivity because no one will be willing to work for money that can be easily printed at will hence its crucial that money be scarce and difficult to counterfeit, money must be decentralized to establish trust.

I don't think that's what he meant, he never meant each individual should print but the arms of government that execute the printing
