So my brother has this ex that actually left him because he use to be broke.... bro has started making it gradually tho grin

he was driving his Camry pencil jeje when he sighted his over ambitious ex struggling for danfo, he parked and offered her a lift..... the girl entered and as they were moving, my bro started laughing, the girl asked what was funny and then he said

"really, with your nagging and complains about me being broke then..... I actually thought I should be seeing you in a range rover but instead you were struggling for a local bus"

she asked him to park and got off..... how I wish things like this happen to me, my own go pass bro own..... me dat love feeling myself be4 grin
Your bro is just not nice. Am sure the gal won't have any regret for leaving your brother. Your bro ought to have kept quiet and listen to the conversation his ex would have brought up. For a girl he had probably slept with several times, that was embarrassing to say.

All my exes still care and miss me. Wait! And you said your bro car is pencil Camry! Hian!

Thanks for your input. I am already studying MIS, which is not so popular like electrical. More than 90% of US Colleges offer electrical engineering, i have an electrical background and I am open to switch to electrical if i get funding there.
Again, I switched school because i didn't like the course i was offered at UALR and the school had no funding for a 5-year Phd program.

My course adviser said i will only be eligible to apply for GA after 2 semesters. I don't see myself surviving for 2 semesters without funding.
MIS is even more lucrative than electrical. Anything computer is lucrative here. The world is about computer now. In fact obama is trying to introduce code writing to elementary pupils

My friend who applied to renew his visit visa through a dropbox was later called to appear at the embassy for interview, when he got there, they asked him why he spent 5 months instead of then intended 1 month hetold them at the interview, he explained to them them that on arrival to the US, he got an admission to do a masters programme and he then applied for a change of status to a student visa and when it was not approved, he had to return home at the 5th month. He didn't want to overstay.
Now, the VO asked him to come back for his passport in 3 months time, by then his visa would have expired. What could be the problem pls for holding his passport that long ?
Are you sure it's not 3 days he heard. He should check his status online

morning guys, just joined nairaland officially today though have been a bit part reader 'cos of work and other time consuming activities....please i need a kind and honest response with reasonable suggestions....i have tried my best and i have saved up 3 million naira will this be enough for tuition ONLY in schools in USA or Canada........if No i should be looking at minimum of how much? otherwise any kind hearted person can suggest a good affordable school

Thanks
Welcome sis. You have quite a lot compare to some folks here. Sincerely, schools in Canada are cheaper. You are allowed to work both on and off campus. US is only oncampus which you may not get. If you decide to bring ur spouse here, they won't be eligible to work. He go dey sit down look you but it's not so in Canada. spouses are allowed full time work.

Another way you can fund your education is to contact faculty members before applying. Provide then intelligent letter on their research interest and ask for available funding. GPA and GRE determine a lot on funding. So you may want to prepare well for that.

However, you will be exposed to series of funding once you have finished ur first semester and did very well. If you check the international student website of any school, you would be amazed on the series of funding you are opened to but we never do while in naija.

Lastly as a woman, you are advantaged by gender as there are many scholarship body that provide scholarship for women in developing nation. What is your course of study? If I had time, will provide u some links.

One other thing, how were you able to save up to 3 million in Naija work?

The problem is that my course advisor said i am not eligible to apply for GA until after 2 semesters.

I already went to financial aid, them tok say no money for now. That is why am looking for a way out...

UNO have no plans for international students, they focus more on their citizens. Whites are like 95% in this school.
Oops! Am sorry for your situation. In that case, I will recommend my school. They are quite helpful with funding. There are also available on campus job but the weather is quite harsh. Extremely cold and extremely hot.

Like your school, it's dominated by white but they respect and fear black because blacks here have protested severally. Blacks dey kolo for here. Everyone is cautious of being called racist.

It's university of Missouri, Columbia.

Dear Friends and Gurus,

I urgently need help with a candid advice. i have not really been following this tread but i bow for gurus here.

I started applying for USA graduate schools in Oct 2015. I wanted to resume in Jan 2016-Spring, so i only targeted schools with very late application deadlines.

I did all the GRE, TOEFL and VISA interview stuffs and succeeded getting admission in 3 schools.
1. UALR- University of Arkansas at Little Rock - Phd (Integrated computing)
2. SIUE- Southern Illinois University Edwardsville - MSc (computer science)
3. UNO - University of Nebraska, Omaha - Msc (Management Information Systems-MIS)

The decision from UALR came so quick so i presented their i20 at the embassy and got the visa. Though i preferred the MIS course at UNO, but they did not decide on time. I Applied for funding in UALR but didn't get anything. Also some old naija folks at the school strongly discouraged me from coming..Finally, my admission at UNO clicked on Jan 6, I got into US on Jan 8th and decided to transfer from UALR to UNO. The transfer went pretty easy and i flew to Omaha.

On arriving here, i discovered the situation here was worse than i ever imagine, even though i got the course i wanted to study, i couldn't get any funding, tuition is very high, black population here is negligible, and the cold here na die. I have not figured out how i will pay the tuition yet, but i pray i will scale through this semester.

I plan to complete one semester and transfer to another school. Which school can i get guaranteed Graduate Assistant ship or funding?
If i loose my status in this school(i don't pray for that-worst case scenario), can i possibly apply afresh again in another school since i am already in the usa?
Who knows the possibility of transferring credits from Management Information Systems to a course like electrical engineering?

Any valuable input will be most appreciated. Thank you
I am sure if you sat up, you gonna come top of the class in MIS at Nebraska. That will put you in a good stead for UNO graduate assistant. You hardly get GA or TA at the beginning of your studies except you presented an excellent result and had criticized faculty research papers. Remember you have your studies from Africa which oyibos think is sub-standard. I would advise you to schedule an appointment with the financial aid office. Give them your story!

Except otherwise you are already frustrated with UNO. No where is actually good when you are without money in the US. Guess white are even more friendly than black-americans. Or you want where they speak ibo. That will be PhD in UNN. na joke oo.

I could see your confusion. What you have described here is not TSA but IPSIS - centralized payroll system introduced by GEJ govt to check the issue of ghost worker. It has nothing to do with TSA and was fully implemented during his regime.
hehehehe. They all work together. These were measure thought out to block leakages in governance. The money withdrawn using IPSIS comes from TSA. BVN is merge with the integrated payroll system. TSA makes sure all ministries maintain only one account.

During his last few years, GEJ was the most criticized and hated president even by Abati's admission. GEJ came, saw and fumbled.

Where is this latest admiration coming from? Even with all the rot being excavated on a daily basis? He conceded an election in which he had no chance of winning and so he is an overnight hero. Give me a break! I still maintain that Buhari is the wrong choice to lead Nigeria in this fast-paced world. But to say that Jonathan has any functioning brain as a leader is an assault on common sense.
In summary, Nigerians are comfortable with life in squalor which is why they keep electing one mediocre leader after another. Nigeria will be great but Nigerians are not ready for that great Nigeria yet. Let the fumble continue. APC, PDP, or whatever acronym, is being run by the same cabal in different uniforms.
/
I agreed with you. GEJ isn't good for leadership. He may be a good man but lacked the wellwithal to transform a nation. It was Business as usual. He couldn't grow the Treasury at a time of surplus due to corruption. His many good intentions were below par. Like many past presidents, he failed to lead Nigeria out from mental slavery.

Like Gej, so is Buhari who is incapable of planned emancipation of our country from poverty and slave mentality. His lack of skill in communications cannot excite a change on the way we do things. But his strong point is corruption fight and the fear of him. If he skilled mentally, that platform would have taken us to the pedestal of development.

Our hope can only lie on who is to come. I just wish we stopped voting for mediocres

Can you educate us about the relationship of BVN with TSA? Since you have been operating TSA on Remitta platform, how many times have you had to supply your BVN?
Many people in Nigeria has same firstname and surname. Having then in same ministry or different one is not uncommon. So you cannot use names to say this is one person because they bear same name.

Moreso, somebody can have ghost workers in their office. They open many accounts with different names but in actual life, this is one person. He connives with the bank to do this just so to earn 10 persons salary.

But BVN is identified with finger print which it attached to ur account. If you have 10 Bank account, with or without different names, ur finger print for one will reveal other accounts owned by you. In civil service, u can only receive salary. The system will delete 9 accounts and choose the smallest salary.

Or the system will flag it and not pay you at all and you will probably be sacked or arrested for earn more than one salary even if you are truly working in these places. You are not suppose to work in anoda place. Civil service law does not even permit civil servants to do business or politics.

However. U can still beat the system if you truly put a real ghost workers' names that are not in government jobs. But na the person go collect the money. He will then decide whether to pay you or not. Lol.money dey cause fight o

As to the boldened, it is not true, TSA did not start in Jan 2015, it was since 2012 or thereabout, the problem was the political will that was lacking to enforce it. Even System specs , owners of the Remita software alluded to the fact that the political will of the government enforcing TSA was missing.

Below is the view of MD systemspecs , the admin of the REMITA software about TSA
You don't get it. Yes TSA started 2011 still by Gej/Noi, but it was streamlined. The idea was to be collecting revenue for FG instead of unaccountable counter payment processed in the MDA. It was an e-payment. No physical cash. It opened the government's eyes to how much they have been losing.

This didn't stop ministries from having many hideous accounts. However, genius Ngozi thought that widening the objectives of TSA, would help naija when crude oil crunch set in. So government drew a policy and deadlines for ministries to merge their accounts. This idea is worth a billion dollar especially for Nigeria ridden with corruption of government money.

Feb 2014 was the first deadline and many others were to follow. This is the deadline buhari is following.

He had no clue why he even initiated it in the first place.
You are not serious, are you? Ngozi Iweala proposed and executed TSA when oil started being unprofitable. He canvassed and orientate the populace on how it will stop leakages in government.

That idea only is monumental. No one would have thought TSA was a possible feat. Gej government draw all the white paper on it. And dates and deadlines were set to fully transit to TSA . Those are still the deadlines your Buari stuck to. Till now, not all MDA are TSA compliant. No wey it could hv been forced before Jonathan left office. Its a process.

Buari should comment that life-saving idea of Gej government. BTW, Gej knows why the TSA was birthed as he knew why fuel subsidy should be removed that you all resisted.
