Seriously, you should know not the most popular wins election. With direct primary, ballot paper or votes can be manipulated because you are dealing with 192 locations as against one in indirect primary. But it is time INEC standardize primary election in Nigeria. This is the root of bad governance. INEC should be in-charge of primary election and it should be direct to allow all party member choose their candidate rather than selecting a few persons to do choose for the whole.

By the way, I have seen where one of my uncles here in Nigeria had to bail another uncle out in the UK by sending him money. We know its not easy, we know your rent is scandalous, we know that for those who aren't in lucrative sectors like the health sector, it could get really hard especially if you do not have a partner to share your bills with. We know all about working at least 2 jobs to make ends meet.

However, we also know that your par capital income is higher than ours, lifespan is longer, healthcare is either free or expensively better, junk food could be cheaper, your govt bail you when unemployed,..etc.

I honestly would never understand why friends and families make demands on people both home and abroad. Better to know where your responsibilities to the extended family or partners(spouses/spouses to be) lies and put them in your budget. Eg, monthly allowance to your parents, they shouldn't have to ask before you send it. As per friends asking because you're abroad them no well. EOD.

When I am in government, I am going to look for you to lead my critical projects. The guy meant no harm but adding flesh to what the OP has said. Or are they not wanting Nigerians to speak on their perspectives from Nigeria? I study in US. There are rich Nigerians here for those working with graduate degree in health and quantitative sciences, including accounting and statistics. But there are also tons of Nigerians living from hands to mouth.

Overall, it is easier to survive here even if you do menial jobs. Some people complain to much because they were asked money. If you don’t have, say you don’t have. But it will be absurd to think you won’t support your parents or siblings in Nigeria. Sometimes, some people who refused helping others benefitted the most from families and friends on their way up. For me, I prefer to send opportunities their ways. How they will take the necessary test or application for schools so they too can be here. I try to support by contributing to the test fees. Truly, I have helped a few people, family and friends, this way.

1. Your Uncle and Aunty really tried for you. They collectively did more than your parents did so you should be very grateful to them. Get this and stop being bitter about it, it will help you further release yourself and them.

2. Comparing yourself to their kids shouldn't even happen...they weren't your parents, they were nice people who took you in. I understand how you might have felt differently though...thank goodness it was in the past. Everyone is running a different race...you apparently still think you and your cousins are still on the same track hence your conscious and subconscious comparison. Free your mind...move on and you will stop seeing their mother gossiping in your dream.

3. In your hearts of heart you still think you didn't quite do enough for them, hence the reason you kept dreaming about her. Free you mind, talk to a therapist if you have too or pray and speak with her in your spirit. You did nothing wrong... Have that conversation in your mind, believe it and move on.

I want to study in Canada so as to link art with technology because I am a practised artist with science background. This is purely taken out of context. In the United States, you can apply to 20 universities in one year. He was sending applications to different medical schools. His mom ask him to include John Hopkins which is one of the best in US. Thankfully, it was only the John Hopkins that gave him admission.

Take note, he spent $300,000 to go to this school. But this usually come in form of federal loan for a residence or citizen of United States

My children is also very important to me, I don't plan for their sufferings at all.

Our fight now

Since day 1, I do tell him to do this and that. I really hate company works, so I would tell him to have savings, and be building something sideways where he works. Also, I wanted him to do Masters, since he said he would love to travel out, he's always saying he hates Nigeria bla bla bla. His dad also wanted him to do Masters, but he's in the crew of Masters is a waste of time, and he can't do Masters in Nigeria bla bla bla

Baby try this business, he would say he doesn't have money, he needs 2 million to start a business etc.

Meanwhile, he doesn't have money to travel out of the country to do Masters, nor 2m to start any business. So I would tell him to manage what he has first, and that would propelled him later, but he likes to talk like illiterates that Masters is meaningless.

Meanwhile, while that is true, those things are just like investment, you don't know when you will see an opportunity to use your Masters certificate, and since he studied computer science, I told him that it can even help him get a job outside Nigeria when he leaves, that it can be useful there. I understand the situation of the country, but not having masters doesn't mean you will get a job as well, so why don't you just have it.

My bf would shut me off, and also his dad, the dad even asked him to take job at the federal university where he works, but my bf said he can't work in that place, this is a federal government job o, he would say the salary is too small and people there already knows him, because his dad is in a big office in the university.

So it won't seem like I'm disturbing him, I went quiet, but might chip it in in discussions, but I don't fight him on those things. He works in a small company, and he rose to the position of a Manager, he spent all his time in office, the little time to waste with his friends. It's a good thing but I'm not comfortable with that, the pay is about 90k, which is not enough for his expenses, also he's the first born.

Fast forward to last year, his dad died, it looks like a film trick to him, he now have to take care of his siblings and mum (mum is nurse, but retired long time ago, her pay is little because it wasn't normal retirement). Everything I was telling him finally came to pass.

He rented an apartment with His friends, he later hated it, and said he wants his own, he went to rent an apartment of 600k (he gathered it from different places and he borrowed), which I really hate and we fought on that as well. Because he could have used the money to secure his life in a better way, since his complain when I told him to start a business is that he doesn't have money bla bla bla

He will not apply for better jobs as well
He's practically doing nothing to grow, and would say he hates Nigeria and he would like to leave, but he can't even apply for scholarships or even google schools.

So this 2020, Jan 1, I started fighting him, that I'm not going to continue with him like that, that he should go apply for MSC, start a business or just do something. He now started saying that he has responsibilities which are his siblings, I told him this is the nonsense, he would do till the year ends, we will fight and later resolve it.

He won't even talk about it, or get reminded, he makes me feel Hus boss is using him. I have told him several times how he would be used and dumped, in fact, he makes me say negatives sometimes, and that's because I have seen people that get dumped while working with companies and they fall back to grass, my mum won't even accept him because he works in a company, small company, not cocacola or big companies. My mum hates company works like shits because we've heard and seen people falling to zero due to company jobs.

The problem
1. He says I'm disturbing his life, and not allowing him to rest

2. I'm not happy with him living that way, with no future, no investment, hes not building himself while working, hes not doing courses, not learning any skills, and I think its too risky.
His current salary is not enough for him, not to talk of me collecting part of it. But he gives me money though, has not been more than 1k, 2k and data subscription which I really appreciate.

3. I can't introduce him to my family because I want him respected. Truth is I don't know what he would say to impress my parents because I'm not even impressed with him. And I want him to be superloved and respected. I believe in first impression would last very long. He has introduced me to his family and all friends

4. He never ask me about my own life, aspirations, advice me etc, I'm always the one to do that. Yesterday he had the gut to tell me I'm not caring because of just two days of not showing care

5. Corona has turned his company outside down and he's highly affected. Just like all what I was telling him finally happened, and he has nothing to fall back at. He has a car,

6. I can't marry him or anyone this way, and I'm getting old, though and I want marriage next year. He said he wants too, but I can't marry him like this. And I don't want to get to late twenties, and he breaks up and I start looking for husband, people would be thinking maybe I have a problem that is why I'm yet to marry, they won't know that its him that caused my delay. Plus I have a very high esteem, so I would hate to be desperate for marriage with a man or be the one to be wanting marriage so much in a relationship

7. Right now, we have temporarily break up, so I'm asking if I should break up or make up? Because he was saying rubbish last night

Note: I'm not a fan of dating and rubbish, I love him very much and I don't want to leave him at all. I don't think there's any man I can date as I do not like dishonesty at all and 95% of men are dishonest. My BF is very honest and good I'm every other aspect

I hope you know there is a chance if he goes abroad for his MSc, you might not see him again. Lots of relationships have been altered this way

The appeal court may award court cost in addition to the 10m if he goes on to win at appeal. The money would be raised to N20m. DSS would also be paying lawyer to go to court for them. And lawyers will always charge DSS bigtime. So these are the trade-offs

True. No bank will pay that all over the world. 250k will be the amount he will get in one full year at 5% rate fixed deposit. He can't earn more than 25k per month on N5m. In western part of the world, fixed deposit rate is 2-3%. It is least risk-free investment any investor would do.

I agree with you. Why will anybody be given a choice between N5million and a salary of N100k? You can get an instant treasury interest of N600k from N5m for a single year investment. Your N5M will still be intact. He can use the money(600K) as error and trial business. If the business failed, he can still get another 600K interest from his N5M to try another business until he finally succeed. If he wants to grow his money without looking at any business or taking risk, he can divide the interest into halves and add one half of 300k to the N5M investment. The following year he can get 640K interest while his capital would be N5.6million in one year with an interest of 620k. With N5m, your money can work for you risk-free.

Your story is likely 99% falsehood. As a PTDF scholar since 2010, I can tell you PTDF does not support education in GREECE. They were only involved in UK for many years before they started branching out to China, France, Germany, Canada, US and Malaysia in recent years. Secondly, Greece doesn't use pounds. They previously used drachma before transiting to euro in 2002. So sending your money to Nigeria would have been in Euro(€) or dollars for obvious reason. Thirdly, it is very unlikely a student is able to make £125,000 as savings. The entry salary for most graduate is about £15 - £22k a year in the UK. In Greece the amount is about 1200 euro per month. I know this things because I did my master in UK. You would be a superstar to be able to save €500 from your salary monthly as you will have to pay monthly rent of not less than €700. Won't you eat? transport or buy clothes?

So it is unlikely you can raise that money in 20 years! You are obviously deceiving yourself. You want people to think you are rich? Even white rich people don't have that kind of money in Canada or US. You probably don't know GREECE as a country have been in recession for many years receivig bailout money for European union and Germany.

I just want my countrymen to be safe and be able to eat. Gov. Umahi of Eboyi has ordered a compulsory mask use in public or face arrest. This is the very essence of my post. Our lockdown may result in more infections. The current market operation for 4 hours without ordering the use of masks by buyers and sellers sets off a perfect storm for community spread of the virus. The virus is transmitted mostly by people at a time the carriers do not even know about having it. So it makes sense for anyone stepping out to protect himself and, most importantly, protect others should they have it. We have seen how impractical a lockdown could be because people still need water and food. Many Nigerians don't have access to tap water. Because we don't have a foodbank system like in the advance country, the mobile food bank is a conflicted spot, as we have seen. And how sustainable do you think the practice is? Remember, our states can move about freely, so people are moving from Lagos, Ogun, Abuja to other non-lockdown states. There must be a strategy that fits all citizens and all states. Reduce time of movement but with strict mask law.

A country lockdown ought to be the most effective way of fighting coronavirus pandemic. I am afraid this method would not work for my country, Nigeria. Why? A country needs a lot of economic power to be able to implement lockdown. For example, the US provided $2 Trillion stimulus package for businesses, including a direct check to individuals and children. Other countries have provided billions of dollars too for their citizen. Nigeria cannot provide this sort of money because we of our population. We have a meager $40 billion in our treasury. For a country recovering from a recession, the lockdown will spell doomsday for Nigeria.

Already, small businesses, the lifeblood of the nation that employs more than 80% of working populations, are locked up. How will Nigerians survive? Millions of Nigeria live off their daily wages from market sales or labor. Restaurants, Hotel and other private businesses will certainly not pay workers at this time. With no savings for food consumption, people will almost certainly break the order to find survival, increasing the risk for the virus spread. Housing is another talking point. Think about the millions of families that live in a single room apartment. They share their accommodation with other families living in the same obnoxious situation. What makes matters worse, there is little supply of electricity to provide lighting, entertainment, or even to charge phones. All these do not make lockdown achievable, except you are thinking of exterminating the poor. Of course, when the going gets tough for Nigerians, they will push back, resulting in chaos and anarchy. We do not want this type of counterproductive effort.

I am going to recommend an alternate way to the Nigerian government. It's a trade-off, but when appropriately managed, the incidence of infection will not overwhelm our healthcare while the economy keeps functioning. Our government should embark on partial restriction and encouraging social distancing. Movement of people should only take place from 8 am - 6 pm or less. Schools, churches, mosques and public offices should remain closed down. Every Nigerian must wear masks compulsorily while in public or arrested. Czech population is currently wearing masks, and there is little transmission since they started it. Right now, scarfs and handkerchiefs can be converted into masks. The case against mask as an ineffective preventive technique for stopping the virus is partly to allow enough masks for medical workers. Up till now, masks are still in short supply in US hospitals. But let's take an objective look at the issue of masks. Many doctors protect themselves from the virus with masks, even when they are directly exposed to the virus for more than 8 hrs daily while treating highly contagious patients. This is a practical demonstration of the effectiveness of masks. The federal government should immediately begin mass production or order of masks and make them available to every Nigerian.

Another area of concern is the astronomical rise in the prices of food and goods. A rubber of Garri previously sold for N700 is now N2000. Of course, the law of economics comes into play whenever there is a scarcity or increased demand for goods. While Prices of food will definitely go up, it is the responsibility of the government to see irresponsible citizens do not take advantage of scarcity or fear to gouge prices. Fortunately, the US government has legislation to forestall price gouging. The National House of Assembly must put in place a price-gouging law to disallow unfair food price increase.

A Lockdown ought to be very good practice but from recent happenings, we need to be careful to see that its implementation does not endanger the very citizens it seeks to protect with more community spread of the virus when the populace begins to defy the lockdown. I am even more afraid for the task force who are exposed from maintaining order and sharing food while being crowded by non-protected people.
