Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing great. Please I have a question and I would appreciate it if someone could guide me appropriately. I am a graduate of a Master's degree program in Canada and I got a job offer. When I created my EE profile, I didn't get points for my job offer. I am currently on my post graduate work permit and my score is 457. I don't know if I am doing something wrong, please. I would appreciate any form of assistance for clarification.
IELTS score: L-8, S-8.5, R-8.0, W-7
I have a sibling who is a PR
Job offer in Engineering: Process Engineer (Metallurgy)
Age: 31

I am planning to rewrite my IELTS exam to improve my writing. Also, my Post graduate work permit expires in March 2025 and I just started my new job in March this year.
Hi,

Do you have work experience back in Nigeria in one of the FSW NOC before travelling to Canada for your MSc?
A quick CRS simulation shows your CRS should be way higher even with your current IELTS score if you have foreign(Nigeria work experience) in addition to your job offer & Canadian education. Could you be unwittingly leaving a detail out perhaps?

I’d suggest you run the numbers again before writing another IELTS.

Here’s a link to job offers that qualify for EE-https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/documents/offer-employment.html

I guess it’s whatever works for each person.

Personally I think mortgage documents and car reg/insurance docs is surplus to requirement….especially when you think about the fact the even super-visa doesn’t require those. Again, whatever makes intending applicants have a ‘strong application’.

I’ve had family members get TRV with a lot less document too.

House34:
Firstly, there isn't a detailed list of documents required by the visa officer for a visitor visa application to Canada. It's up to the applicant to present a strong case. I see nothing wrong with including your tax return in the visa application; to me, it's even better than a bank statement, which is what I used to invite my family. Then I added my mortgage papers and car documents, along with a support letter stating they're coming for a visit. I own a house and have a car to drive them to tourist centers, so they won't have to pay for food, accommodation, or transportation. This is usually well-received, and they often get the visa. So, personally, I think the documents listed are ok and acceptable.l even invited my uncle and he didnt even add his own bank statement but l added my tax return as proof of finance.

One thing that jumped right at me from the start is how narrow your data point is. Brampton may be all you say it is and perhaps even worse, but it’s just Brampton- a very small part of GTA which is a very small part of Ontario, and Ontario a small part of Canada.
I lived briefly in Richmond Hill years ago, and it was nothing like what you and others have said about Brampton. I’d wager folks in Toronto and other parts of GTA will say it’s different too.
Yes there is probably a larger Indian population in Toronto/GTA/Canada than other immigrants some dating back several generations. But to generalize based on a very small area off me.
Perhaps your post is a sign that it’s time you should move to other areas/province and really enjoy Canada😁😁

P.S:
Alberta is Calling

colored:
What do you guys think of the way Indians are taking over Canada in massive numbers? Brampton's demography is 80% Indian. And it's not like they are assimilating into the Canadian culture, they are instead forming their own parallel society within Canada, posing a threat to Canadian values. Canada is appealing to me and to many not just because of her economic opportunities but also because of her values of freedom and egalitarianism.

Diversity isn't importing immigrants from only one part of the world, it is balancing the immigrants who are coming in so that diverse countries can be represented. The US understands this very well which is why Nigerians are no longer eligible for visa lottery because they have taken in over 50k Nigerians, exceeding the threshold they set for Nigerians.

If WES evaluates it as equivalent to a 2 years diploma.
YES, as it doesn’t matter if it’s same field as ur Bsc or not.

FrostyButter:
Hi guys,

I have a question regarding one of my educational qualifications. During the last 2 years of my undergraduate studies, my uni allowed us take a course that would eventually result in a seperate diploma certificate in addition to my Undergraduate certificate.

I recently submitted this diploma certificate for my wes evaluation. Kindly note that this diploma certificate is management related , while my undergraduate studies is engineering.

Can I submit this as a diploma in my pr process for the additional points?

Hey, why not do a research on AAIP (Alberta PNP).
https://www.alberta.ca/alberta-advantage-immigration-program
You’d find out the requirements firsthand.

Can someone please explain Alberta PNP to me?

I have created my express entry profile
I am still confused on where to apply for Alberta provincial nomination.
I have a sister (canada citizen) in Alberta which I noted when I was creating my EE Profile and I chose I will love to permanently reside in Alberta.
Do I just wait for notification of interest?
Or do I need to apply for the PNP? If yes, how to go about it?

First off, how did you raise the initial money in the savings account before gift deed top-up?
Anyways, you have to show&prove the financial trail with explanation AFTER you’ve moved the money back to your savings account from fixed deposits. Good thing you have been given a chance to explain it.

In my opinion, something like this:

‘Dear Visa Oficer, I appreciate the opportunity you’ve provided me to prove that the money in my proof of funds is accessible to me blah blah blah….as evident from page 1 of the document I uploaded(or attached to this letter), I had #xxxxxxxxxx in my account save up (or initial gift deed) for the purpose of my immigration to Canada by 12/03/1900 when I submitted my application. However, as a result of the instability of foreign exchange I received an additional gift deed from my xxxx so that my proof of funds can meet the current Canadian dollars valuation in naira on 10/03/1900. This is shown by the money deposit & gift deed in page 2 & 3.
To ensure the said funds remain exclusively for my immigration purpose, I however made a fixed deposit for xx days on 11/03/1900 evident from the transfer from my account to the fixed deposit account on page 4.
To prove that the fund is accessible to me, I have transferred the money back into my savings account on 13/03/1900, a current statement of account and reference letter from my bank is shown on page 5(include a new bank reference letter with recent date)’.
I appreciate your diligence and fairness in processing PR applications.’

Tweak the above as applicable to your situation…
The key I believe is to be convincing and proof you have access to the money.

P.S:
The above won’t work for ‘arranged’ POF, as you won’t have financial trails to back your claims.

Tonto30:
Hello Seniors,
Please I need help... I got PFL for POF.
I had money in my savings account that I initially used for POF but when naira declined and lost value, I topped up with a gift deed then did a fixed deposit investment with the new funds. The PFL reads that money in the fixed deposit is not accessible so the VO says he is not accepting it, can I break the investment and send the funds back to my main account, I hope I am on the right path by doing this?
Then submit an updated statement of account?

Her medical was probably extended. If the visa officer wanted a new medical he/she would have requested for a remed easily as is the case with other applicants.

I don’t think the CBSA(immigration) officer checks your medical upon arrival. He mostly checks COPR validity and authenticity of your Visa. Never heard/read of medical slip requested upon arrival.
So you guys should be fine.

Msticks:
Hello everyone,

I have a question.
My wife and I just got our passport request today. My wife's medical expires on May 22nd, while mine is still valid until march next year.

We plan to travel for a "soft" landing on May 20th (provided that we get back our passport before then). This is because, I have some work commitments that will not allow me travel until may 20th.

Will my wife get any issue at the border since her medical will have just 1 day validity as at the time we will be landing?
TravelRe: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant Part 2 by MayorOfEdmonton: 9:01pm On Apr 02, 2024
You should probably start shopping around for Hospitals close to where you’d land especially since delivery is about a month after you guys arrive. So you’d know the potential cost and prepare for it.

Most health insurance brokers will treat it as pre-existing condition and may not offer coverage for her even if u are willing to pay the annual premium, you can reach out to different insurance brokers to be sure(Bluecross/Manulife/Sunlife/CanadaLife etc).

In any case, you'd likely be busy with school + helping your wife with the newborn and she prolly can’t work for next 6 months. Suffice to say you’d need plenty of funds

leksite120:

I agree with with you. Thank you for offering another perspective, it was enlightening.😊😊
The visa officer can’t simply reject an application because of employment requirements in NOC code not met.
If he has any reservations, he will simply ask for proof.
Thanks for the good work you keep doing here. All the best🙌🏼🙌🏼

GraciousWords:
Thanks for bringing up this important point.

Black Bold - IRCC has told us that we do not need to satisfy the education requirements of the NOC we choose, which we both seem to agree to, in general. Bone of contention is medical field https://www.nairaland.com/6081746/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/537#101136249

Purple Bold - You may be right especially with the doctor example, which is valid (edited Page 1 to read "except you're a doctor or pharmacist"..... to be fair IRCC asks for a special body to evaluate the ECA for those 2). However, I think (could be wrong) there may be some medical jobs that one can perform competently without a previous degree e.g. auxiliary nurses, where they learn on the job.

A VO is free to ask for ADR during his assessment, however even for medical job, I'm not sure he is free to reject an application because the applicant did not have the education requirements for said job/NOC, provided the applicant actually did perform the duties and can prove it (as your friend did with evidence of training or some other person with a medical job could do with evidence of having learnt on the job).

This would be a good one too see a judicial review judgement on...like the law, professional degree WES matter smiley

You make very valid points, nothing beats studying/research. It Has been saving lives since 1900

I however feel the bolded general statement below depends on the work/job in question especially if it’s medical related.
In my opinion, you can’t have a degree in economics and have work experience as a doctor/pharmacist/Medical Lab scientist, I believe there’s a reason why the employment requirement is stated on the NOC code description.
Understandably an engineering graduate can switch to IT or banking or barber😁, infact I know a guy couple years ago who got ADR to explain the switch from Engineering to banking officer. Thankfully he had firstbank banking school completion certificate, he just sent it. Whilst most people usually don’t get such ADR, Medical related professions however is specialty job that only a formal schooling qualifies one to practice/be employed.

The op has a degree in biochemistry and worked after formal(on-the-job) training as a lab scientist. both are related in my opinion.

GraciousWords:
In my early days of pursuing EE. I read a PPR story here...part 5...that highlighted to me the importance of reading and research….

I've seen people's apps rejected for small/minor things like PCC obtained before leaving one's former country of residence or ECA done was not for immigration. The one wey dey pain pass na lost opportunities...like when someone misinforms a prospective applicant that their work and education must match. Or that your NOC must be for your current job......Or that if your POF no complete for 6 months no even bother to apply!

Anyway sha...wetin I wan talk be say make we dey try dey study small.

Is your daughter a US Citizen? If yes she doesn’t need TRV to visit Canada.

If No, which visa office sent your wife PPr? raise a webform to that visa office and ask for update on your daughter’s application and how you’d appreciate that they help process it too.

Educhopper:
I applied for a TRV application for my baby girl and wife from Peru on the 5th of March. On the 20th of March, PPR for wife was requested while baby's processing is still ongoing till now. It's 5 days now. How can I write IRCC to ascertain why the delay? Any advice? Thanks
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Worker Program - Connect Here Part 11 by MayorOfEdmonton: 9:39pm On Mar 21, 2024
Hey,

Check the NOC code more carefully 31101 is specialist in surgery, are you a surgeon? is that what you did in your 1st year of employment?
Check out 33101 and 32120, they are the closest to MLS. If the employment requirement of the NOC code says you need a diploma/degree, usually it’s best to have a diploma/degree in that field though with convincing proof in the reference letter(initial formal training) and a close enough/related course some folks in the past did not have issue.
So what field was your Bsc?

If your end goal is Healthcare category based ITA, kindly note that the Medical laboratory assistant/technologist experience is expected to have been within the last 3 years to qualify. This should be reflected in your reference letter.

Employment letter is not a requirement only employer reference letter is- as proof of work experience, some applicants choose to submit employment letter anyways. You can choose not to submit.

Cheers

Guys please want to switch to the NOC code 31101 medical laboratory assistant.

My NOC code is biologist and related scientist(21110). I worked my first year in the lab as a medical laboratory scientist and the next 4 years as a biologist in the same organization. My employment letter carries the name biologist and my masters program is in biotechnology( NOT MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE) my supervisor is willing to give me a reference letter for the time period i worked as a medical lab scientist , but my employment letter still says biologist.

My Questions are?

(1) submitting a reference and employment letter with different job description, is it not a red flag?

(2) Must my masters program be in the NOC code ( medical laboratory science)?

Please help me, i do not know what to do.

I think a good question will be how did they send for other students in the past? Most schools already have a working system.

To send official electronic transcript(not student copy) to WES, I think the school needs to create an account with WES and the email has to originate from registrar’s/Exams&records dept(e.g registrar@unilag.com NOT xyz@yahoo.com)

You can reach out to WES to be really sure.

Hi,

For PR purpose, he will need a marriage certificate from the registry.

For category based healthcare pathway, he only needs at least 6 months as Pharmacy technician/assistant the other 2years 6 months or more can be as a pharmacist/pharmacy assistant.
So he can use the 2 years pharmacy technician /assistant experience he has in addition to 1 or 2 years as pharmacist. He should be fine.

Also he is a pharmacist. I saw that a pharmacist does not qualify for the healthcare category…BUT pharmacist technicians or assistants do. He worked as one for two years before he was able to his license in Nigeria (backstory, his pharmacy degree was from UK but moved back to Nigeria and worked as a pharmacy assistant for two years before he eventually got his license to practice in Nigeria) . So can he claim that even tho he is a pharmacist right now? Thank you

The government spend so much on false asylum claimants…. Most Canadians believe it’s a misuse of tax payers money.
A tourist from a country not at war gets to CBSA and in his first few sentences he claims asylum.

Why did the said Citizen say otherwise? Just curious…

Here’s an excerpt from IRCC website:
Eligibility for the transport occupations category
To be eligible, you must

have accumulated, within the past 3 years, at least 6 months of full-time, continuous work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work experience)
in a single occupation listed in the table below
in Canada or abroad”

A quick check shows Flying Instructor (NOC 72600) is one of the occupations, so if he can get more than 6 months reference letter showing he does the tasks listed in the NOC requirements in addition to reference letter(s) from other employers he meets the requirements stated on the website.
He should try and do some research himself and not rely on what citizen said.

Here’s the websites:

TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by MayorOfEdmonton: 10:12pm On Feb 27, 2024
Whilst you made irrefutable points, would an application be rejected because pictures showing two siblings together were not uploaded? NO
Would seeing picture(s) influence a visa application approval, I strongly believe NO, however good it makes the applicant’s claim look. Visa Officers though human are guided by the regulations/requirements of the visa category and not sentiments.
One could add pictures of birthdays from year 1 to year 25 together(sentiment) and still be rejected if the visa officer believes there’s no financial/family reason for the applicant to return to their home country after the visit(visa regulation).

I’m a proponent of submitting documents that makes you feel confident in your visa application, so if pictures will make an applicant less anxious about what-ifs…shoulda…woulda…coulda…please add as many as you deem necessary.
I just dey reason am from another objective angle😁😁

slimmsyyetty:
In my personal opinion, it is important to note that proof of relationship may not be limited to BIRTH/MARRIAGE CERTIFICATES alone. Anything you know that can FURTHER SOLIDIFY your proof of relationship, submit it! You may still show you have a very strong bond with your siblings aside sharing parents through birth certificates. Why do people further include marriage pictures, regardless of the age of the union if they feel or believe marriage certificate is sufficient to show one is legally married because they would like to make the application simple?

Though, I am not against making one's application simple, BUT just making an application simple may not be applicable in all cases. Sometimes in some cases, the more evidences you show, the more you solidify your reasons to be approved.

Thanks and Shalom

No need to explain anything, if reference letter says 10 months then use 10 months.
If it says 12months then use 12 months.
Good thing Nicole has +2years experience from another company so she’s fine.

Profgordons:
I understand your dilemma about your NYSC, you can claim full one year for it. Explain the first month was orientation and the last month was statutory earned leave. That gives you your full one year
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by MayorOfEdmonton: 8:50pm On Feb 27, 2024
Pictures are surplus to requirement if we are being honest. It’s usually best to keep visa applications simple.
Birth certificates of both siblings suffices as it has the same father & mothers name (except for step siblings), that’s all the visa officer needs. Besides in your PR application few years ago, you listed him as your brother. They will likely visit your previous PR file to confirm name and DoB u inputed.

Remember to add yourself as authorized representative so you can call ircc on his behalf if the processing is taking longer than expected.

More importantly don’t forget to add your proof of status(PR Card/Canadian Passport as applicable). Some add a couple or so recent payslips in addition to bank statements as proof of financial support.

I believe the invitation letter should be signed and dated from the person…... The invitation letter must mention the visitor’s ties, too. This implies that as your sibling, you will need to submit the birth certificates of both of you and pictures (if possible as little children to teenagers and not adults alone) as evidences

Loud am abeg for people at the back😁😁

A visa is always a privilege, not a right. You may have a visa and still not be allowed into a country at the border. As long as you are not a citizen of that country, a visa just grants you the privilege to enter another country without getting stopped at the border. And in fact, it may be withdrawn at any time, if they like. Read up on it here

But it is a privilege na 😁😁

Meanwhile your sibling in Canada should reach out to ircc(call/email) or their MP.
While that doesn’t guarantee anything, historically it’s been know to help ‘dust-off’ digital files.
Cheers

8months is not a long time. I’m in my 7th month without a ppr response. Mind you I have families in Canada. My mom & elder brother have gone & return. I earn good salary. Sent several mails to them but they keep telling me my application is still in progress. The last response I got from Ircc was that they are prioritizing Express entry & Student visas. That was when I decided I won’t be bothered no more. Ircc just act like the visa is a privilege not a right.

You are selectively ignoring the good advice kind folks here are giving you. The boy has age in his favour, he can plan carefully for Express entry(Learn French/do a tech course for STEM/find a job in agric and get invaluable work experience) but no, it’s the seemingly easy and fraudulent route you’re pushing him to take.

An honest question- What skill does he have that will make an employer consider hiring him ahead of several folks with PGWP and PRs?
The agent obviously told you he will claim asylum when he gets to Canada, what will be the basis for a 20s asylum claim from a country not at war??

Can you please go n check google for cost of accommodation wherever he plans to live and stop spamming this thread.
The boy in question should be able to do that simple search if there’s any chance of surviving in Canada.

We can take care of his accommodation and send some Nigerian food when he enter.
