8months is not a long time. I’m in my 7th month without a ppr response. Mind you I have families in Canada. My mom & elder brother have gone & return. I earn good salary. Sent several mails to them but they keep telling me my application is still in progress. The last response I got from Ircc was that they are prioritizing Express entry & Student visas. That was when I decided I won’t be bothered no more. Ircc just act like the visa is a privilege not a right.

You are selectively ignoring the good advice kind folks here are giving you. The boy has age in his favour, he can plan carefully for Express entry(Learn French/do a tech course for STEM/find a job in agric and get invaluable work experience) but no, it’s the seemingly easy and fraudulent route you’re pushing him to take.

An honest question- What skill does he have that will make an employer consider hiring him ahead of several folks with PGWP and PRs?
The agent obviously told you he will claim asylum when he gets to Canada, what will be the basis for a 20s asylum claim from a country not at war??

Can you please go n check google for cost of accommodation wherever he plans to live and stop spamming this thread.
The boy in question should be able to do that simple search if there’s any chance of surviving in Canada.

You’re probably better off paying for & doing another biometric as Visa wil be issued either by length of biometric validity/length of passport expiration whichever is less.
So even though u have brand new 10 years passport but with 3 years biometric validity left from
Previous application. You’d only get 3 years visa.
But if u do new biometrics you’d very likely get 10 years Visa. Reason am

I applied for visit visa in 2018 and I did biometrics which is valid for 10years ...after 6years I'm now reapplying again for visit visa which means my biometrics is still valid...Now after I paid visa fee my biometrics dint come up after some days ..wats the way forward..hope this is clear enough!

@larrixauto2017 You’ll need a formal trade schooling from an institute of technology in your target province and a trade/journeyman certificate before he will be allowed to touch any vehicle. For example in Edmonton, he will have to attend automotive service technician course among others at NAIT then start his journeyman with an auto repair shop to gain hands-on experience.
His previous experience and certificate from Nigeria may help easily get journeyman spot perhaps but definitely not qualify him to just start touching people’s vehicles in Canada.
In fact he needs the certificate and experience before he can register an auto repair business!!!

IMO,

It doesn’t hurt to send the documents again & a compassionate msg in seperate webforms to CIO/Accra/Nairobi. Not just asking for update.
You can even go one further and send a compassionate email to RROC(ircc.in-rroc-corr-ri.ircc@cic.gc.ca) stating how the delay has been affecting you (emotional&mental health) & how you look forward to reuniting with your wife and new born.
RROC has been known in the past to help follow up on Citizens/PRs pending family reunification applications.
Some folks even send webforms every week to their visa office until their visa is approved!!!

Hello house, I have a sponsorship application for my wife ongoing. we had a baby in September and we sent a webform immediately to let the IRCC know….

I sent another one to the Accra office on Friday and the response was we got from them was "Regarding your daughter, you were advised to contact CIO to add her to the application.". This has been done since November.

I am really confused as to what is going on, and if we sent the files to the appropriate office. what can I do please?

Until you are married, he/she can’t add you.
After ‘partner’ gets invited & submits a complete application, you’d have to be legally married 1st before she can add you. Some folks do just court wedding first to collect certificate and add their spouse, then plan naija big wedding later.

Since you have experience in tech, you may have slightly higher chance IF IRCC continue their dedicated tech/STEM category invitations this year as the CRS score is lower, make sure the NOC you choose is one of the listed though.

Are you a single male/female? You could explore starting a SERIOUS relationship with one of the people you know in Canada if they are single too & PR/Citizen😁, let time & the ‘heart’ do the rest before you know it you’d be so in love he/she will rush to Nigeria to marry you. Canada can be lonely for single folks & most Nigerian will rather avoid western marital dramas. Just kidding but it’s an option😉😊

Uncle K, a potential visitor/tourist is not an immigrant? An immigrant is a permanent resident & a visitor/tourist is simply a visitor as the visa category says. You should probably take some time to carefully read about how LMiA works and the visa category change policy you alluded to.

I remember last year when this whole VV getting LMIA was a hot topic, some folks here took their time to explain how it works and how difficult it is. But they were called several derogatory names for providing intending travelers with the truth.
Most of the people that travelled last year couldn’t get a job within 6 months, if anyone successfully got one pls correct me with proof.
A lot of them claimed asylum, taking advantage of a system designed for countries currently experiencing war or severe natural disaster.
While I understand that Nigeria is probably somewhere no one wants to be currently with the harsh economic realities and terrible government policies, it’s always better to japa legitimately.

You have spoken well. I have said it before that Canada was the cause of asylum seekers with VV because their policy of seeking employment on VV gave room for multitude without any proactive measures to cushion the effects on immigrants.

What’s required is just return ticket and passports. Even travel insurance is optional except for SuperVisa. No more arriveCAN nor Covid test.
CBSA will ask your parent(s) for your address when they land & pass thru immigrations.

She has nothing to lose if she calls especially if she’s an Authorized Representative in your application(I imagine she is). The IRCC call center people can’t provide good enough updates on applications processed outside Canada though.
Better still your wife should send a compassionate email/webform to Lagos, Abuja and Nairobi. Explaining how the distance and separation from you negatively impacts her mental health, how settling in Canada without her spouse has been difficult blah blah.
She can go a mile further & even reach out to the MP of the ridding where she lives. They can help make inquiries on behalf of a PR’s spouse.
P.S: I personally know 3 PRs that did this and approval came within a week for their spouses.
I did same for my MIL and PPR dropped the following week after 3 month delay. All the best!

We got another email from them yesterday which is procedural fairness stating that I refused to declare my us refusal and I have the opportunity to explain, my husband sent an email explaining and we attached the refusal letter. To God be the glory, woke up this morning to the ppr for my daughter and I.

2. I’d suggest he apply for both of them, the invitation letter from his family should be for him and his Brother/Sister’s Niece/nephew(your child).

3. The family member can pay from Canada and he can send the naira equivalent to him/her.

4. In addition to the invitation letter, his Sister/brother can send her/his Canadian statement of account if he/she is cool with it stating she will co-sponsor.

5. Reach out to vfs via chat/email/call for accurate information

2. My spouse also wants to reapply (we applied same time last year but he was denied, I was granted) is it better for him to be the applicant for our child, or me seeing as I already have the visa. Bear in mind it is his financial documents that will be used as the proof of funds (just as it was the last time we applied), and he's the one that has family inviting us too.

3. Pls how can one make payments as I'm seeing from a few posts back that naira cards are no longer going through?

4. What additional documents will be beneficial to submit asides the regulars?

5. Also saw a few posts back that transmission fee is required for those already with biometrics if this is not going to be their first submission. How true is this? And if true, pls how do we go about it?

Just curious, why do you feel a need to explain money she transferred from herself to herself after you have applied?
Say I’m the processing visa officer, I’d ask myself that too when I see the webform & perhaps I’d more meticulously review the application.


Should you decide to go ahead, explaining the lump sum from the other account won’t be enough, how the lump sum was saved up over months(statement of account) for the other account should also be provided if your ultimate goal is to explain source of money clearly.
Keep the explaination simple and clear with documents to back it up if you must.

Visitor visa is not an ‘immigant’, you’re a visitor. spend the next ‘few weeks’ to research on provinces/cities with jobs in ur current experience/career and cities that you can afford. Filter the jobs to see which offer LMIA. When you get to Canada you’d have to do a lot of self-research to get by, you might as well start already.

But baba shey you know say LMIA visa is employer specific AKA Closed Work Permit, so the only way he will likely find if the work conditions are unfavourable is back to Nigeria.
That’s why minimum wage LMIA offers is not advisable cos the person will likely be stuck at min wage for years before you can get enough experience to transition to PR if the work experience n education will even qualify the person for EE. #JustSaying

A question for you- So is it that you’re planning to apply to FG jobs or u have interview pending already.

I have a friend that works with Federal government(CRA) & some friends working with provincial government (Finance Division). They didn’t need to do any elaborate security checks from Nigeria I think.
I imagine the CBSA security checks during PR processing should be enough. They only needed to do criminal background check from RCMP, & it’s not only government jobs that require this.

Another angle- PRs can now join Canadian Armed Forces if qualified. There’s no condition of ‘pending security clearance from home country in the requirements’ before they can be employed. I imagine CAF should have stricter security concerns. Just saying.

Please does anyone know of a Nigerian here who works with the Canadian Federal Government as a Permanent resident?

I ask because I know that to work with the FG as a non-citizen of Canada, a security clearance is required from your home country. And I recently learnt that the Nigerian govt never responds to the security clearance request. Someone I know says he was turned down at the interview stage when they learnt he's Nigerian and they gave him the reason "it's very difficult getting security clearance done for Nigerians" but this was many years ago.

I've tried to ask around and haven't been able to find anyone who knows a Nigerian who's successfully done it recently. Those I found had become Canadian citizens before getting into the FG jobs.

So I'm starting to believe the guys who say it may be a worthless venture applying to those roles as a PR with Nigerian citizenship. *phew

Did you find out what the accommodation plan/arrangement is?
Cos rent is pretty expensive in Ontario and a company paying $17/hr in addition to payin ur high rent seems unreal.
Make sure u see a lease agreement in ur name before u leave Nigeria pls.

My personal experience: after I got PR some years ago, I got a really good supervisory job in Toronto while still in Nigeria. Job offer was signed & sent with promise to sort out my accommodation for few months after Landing. Company has condos they said.
Two weeks after landing, company couldn’t find accommodation. I tried to find accommodation myself too but was too expensive for suitable accommodation(+2,000$). I told the company I won’t resume without accommodation sorted out. Thankfully during the wait I got a better offer in Edmonton and within 2 days I sorted accommodation myself in Edmonton. Na so I take become Mayor for Edmonton 😁
Sent mail to the company that for family reasons we decided to leave Toronto, hence I can’t resume the job- No love lost!

Lesson Learned: with hindsight , why should any company pay my rent even as a supervisor talk less an expensive rent.
Make sure any verbal agreement is written down & signed.

You can actually have two invitation letters from both brothers.
There’s a question when applying ‘has someone else invited you’ click yes. One can state he will be the major sponsor while the other co-sponsor.
In my opinion, having two siblings that are citizen invite him gives him higher chance of approval.

A question, has your husband met his baby ‘in flesh’ yet? If NO, then I’d suggest you (1)add an emotional appeal LOA with your application stating family re-unification, emotional and mental support from your spouse who is yet to meet his newborn as reasons. And (2) Husband should send letter of invitation for the baby also appealing that he can’t wait to see his daughter/son and be reunited with you his wife as that will help his settlement in Canada and his studies.
Other documents you’ll need will appear in the upload section.
You will also need to attach ur SOWP and husband’s Study visa. I strongly believe the processing will be faster.
Feel free to ask for help here at any stage of your application, I’m sure others will kindly help with accurate informations too.

Errm. My husband is already there. I just had the baby. So I’m looking to start the baby’s application as soon as the passport is ready.

So in the interim, I’m looking at what documents to gather and how to go about a visitor’s visa.

If your uni/college resumption time is pretty close, you can attach an LOE explaining the obvious urgency+Evidence of nearness of resumption. That could help fast track the processing.

As ur plan is to put fear in people by showing them the ugly part which we know to be true due to lack of accommodations at the moment, please also share with them the good news of the ones taken by Red Cross with accommodations and payment of more than 700 CAD monthly. Don't just be a prophet of doom always happy and ready to escalate bad news. Try to share good news too!

Theres always stopover(s) depending on the flights(Air France/Paris, KLM/Amsterdam, EA/Dublin/Ethiopia Egypt Air/Cairo Lufthansa/Frankfurt etc). If the stopover is in US, you'd need a US visa.
The general trend is the farther the flight date is the cheaper the air ticket potentially. I usually just play around the dates for fun🙈🙈
