http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/ohanaeze-youths-demand-special-polling-booths-for-displaced-igbos/199248/

By Emmanuel Ugwu in Umuahia

With the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) contemplating the establishment of special polling units for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the North-east, the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), the youth wing of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has demanded such facilities to be set up for Igbos and other southerners fleeing Boko Haram insurgency.

Thousands of Igbos resident in the troubled North-east of the country who fled home stand the risk of being disenfranchised having been registered in their former places of residence before relocating.

The National President of OYC, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, told journalists in Umuahia on Wednesday that the group was worried about the discriminatory nature of the planned special polling units, saying that it should equally be extended to Igbos displaced from the North-east.

He argued that the existence of IDPs was not confined to the North as those fleeing the insurgency and returned to their states of origin deserve to be given special treatment in the voting arrangement just like those the IDPs in the North.

“Ndigbo will not accept this latest plot by Jega and his team to disenfranchise Igbo returnees who have been forced to flee from their place of residence by Boko Haram for no fault of theirs,” he said. According to Isinguzoro disenfranchisement of the returnee easterners in particular and southerners in general would work against the electoral fortunes of President Goodluck Jonathan.

The Ohanaeze youths leader called on the federal government “to closely monitor the activities of Jega to avoid derailing the current democracy through some ill- advised and jaundiced policies”, saying that the plan was aimed at giving the North undue electoral advantage over the South.

He said INEC and its chairman, Prof Attahiru Jega, should be told point blank that “what is good for the goose is also good for the gander” hence the electoral body must be compelled to  establish special polling units in the southern part of the country for those fleeing insurgency from the North.

The OYC president alleged that “Jega by his actions so far has shown he is biased and not ready for a credible 2015 election” otherwise he won’t be creating special polling booths for IDPs in the North without considering those fleeing from the war zones to their home states.

OYC therefore, gave Jega a seven- day ultimatum to correct the imbalance or resign, saying that the INEC boss had been involved in a lot of controversial policies in the recent times.
PoliticsRe: Possible Outcome;2015 Presidential Election In Yoruba States;an Analysis by MayorofLagos(m): 5:49am On Jan 15, 2015
To the person giving Lagos to PDP, not while Im alive!

Lagos State is the arrowhead of APC and the power grab....Obanikoro is politically more ambitious than Agbaje, he is tenacious and rash. Someone like that with a thuggish demeanor are unpredictable as a firebrand and so you eliminate them early on. Thats why Obanikoro did not get the primary, PDP did not work against him.....APC eliminated him!

Agbaje is not going anywhere.

APC - 68%
PDP - 27%
AD - 3%
UPN - 1.9%
APGA - 0.1%

This is the result the dailies will publish. Go ahead and earmark it as a breaking news!! grin

You are missing it here sir! As much love Ibadan people have for Ladoja, much more they have for Buhari. This is not a party thing but a desire for change that people believe in. I don't have much to type here but I assert with every conviction that Buhari will defeat Jonathan if not in states like Katsina, Kano and Sokoto but definitely in Oyo state, particularly Ibadan!
Buhari used to be the GOC there back when he wore the starched uniform. What was he record in Ibadan? He should resurge his footprint with Ibadan elites back then to awaken sentiments to his camp. This is do or die!! Ibadan politics is raw and dirty!!
PoliticsRe: Picture Of Oludapo Osinbajo & Aisha Buhari: What's Wrong With The Pic? by MayorofLagos(m): 5:20am On Jan 15, 2015
Hey OP, dont worry about how Mrs Osinbajo is looking in that picture for now. We were ready for this...we knew it would happen before this picture was taken. The Northerner shores up his power with regal drama...so we foresaw it.

In fact if you look in the picture you see her guard also dressed in traditional clothe and waiting to receive her. Its hard to tell if thats Mrs Osinbajo's guard behind her or not but if he is thats ok too.

We are putting out message and warning the Osinbajos handlers again. I had a post on this already....in position of authority the full African regalia must be adopted, with head cover, for man and for woman. You are not in market...this is a throne and the appearance must match the seat of power.

This is notice again to their handlers to dress them appropriately, or like the OP say you start to wonder....

How long since Ibo states have been getting Federal allocation? ......... You had something you just dont have people who know what to do with what you had.

Going forward we will pick governors for you from the list of qualified Ibos who had sojouned in Yorubaland and know how society works.

PoliticsRe: South West Leaders Are Hypocrites- GEJ by MayorofLagos(m): 12:09pm On Jan 14, 2015
If it wasnt for the selfless struggle and sacrifice and bravery of NADECO democracy would not have been firmly planted and an otuoke canoe builder would not be enjoying the values of it.

GEJ, foolish as usual, mis-identified and mis-fired. He gives honors to thieves and he debases heroes of society. His rise to Governorship alone, not to mention VP and then President should be credited to the struggles fought by NADECO to displace military rule and establish civilian rule.

Gej is sorrounded by Ibos, naturally he thinks and speak like them. He then wonders why not a single Yoruba Oba is interested in him.

Your response is an emotional one.

Read the article again and respond to the issues raised by the author.
Such as spending not been commensurate to other airports, the lack of proper international airlines using the airport, the lack of proper equipment as found in other international airports. Is the renovation work at Enugu airport budgeted for in 2015?
[b] Let's be analytical please.

My brother, this is the problem I continue to have with Yoruba! Yoruba need to learn to discriminate, our attitude and brand of justice and fairness to all need to change. In social interaction with Yorubas no one demands reasoning, there is no need for it because it issues naturally as part of cultural ethos in our relationship with ourselves. We extend these ethos to others in the philosophical belief that "we must do unto others as we want them do unto us", which is an admirable quality out of the omoluabi creed. This is what makes us a fair and just and orderly society.

We truly must identify with those who were groomed in similar ethics and treat them as our peers. Those whose cultural society was not organized and ordered like ours and have apathy to our ethics and omoluabi creeds do not belong in same circle of social heirarchy as Yorubas, therefore we must discriminate. Our society was not structured by constitution but by culture and customs. We are not peers with Ibos....they are subhuman to us, therefore in our interaction we must not demand reason out of them or ask for analysis, they are not Yorubas and are not benevolently gifted with a capability for reasoning.

You talk to Ibo the same way you will address a donkey.....you tell him what you need to say and influence his response, if his response is rebellious, as most likely it would be, then you flog him into submission. He respects those who use force to subdue him...he sees rebellion and force as a perfect mix and calls it bravery. He does not respect persuasion and grace, which Yorubas are known for, and is why he calls us cowards.

You have spent two, almost three pages trying to get a donkey to accept what you are saying....and on the third page you are still calling for him to apply (analytics), a value that has no meaning to him whatsoever. Where is your whip to beat the freak into submission? grin

Cheers bro! cheesy cheesy

Really? The girl isn't even considered all that in US. There girls a billion times better looking than that up here. Even 40 years old women that are better looking than her exist. So trust, no American would go goo gag gag over her. Talkless obama.

The fact Nigerians are uplifting this girl as the most gorgeous woman on the planet says quite alot about beauties in Nigeria. She's cute yes, beautiful, okay gorgeous, heck no. The way Nigerians act over girls on this website makes me wonder how many beautiful girls actually dey in that country? From una behaviors, they must be limited.

Lmao!!
Instead of planning an exit strategy, Tompolo is facilitating meeting.

Is he not taking hints from Asari and Oritsejafor?

Oritsejafor has secured an exit already and planning to soon sell the jet so he is not forced into defending controversies sorrounding it.

Even Asari has seen the writing on the wall! He is giving up citizenship and will more likely end up in a country that does not have fugitive extradition treaty with Nigeria.

So who is Tompolo?

Newsflash.....steam turbine energy > coal powered energy > oil powered energy > alternative power!

you see a trend?

Enugu still have coal, but what use is it? It lost its economic value. Oil is getting there......then what relevance will Ijaw have?

PoliticsClaimants To Abuja Are Speaking Up. by MayorofLagos(op): 1:19am On Jan 12, 2015
As the nation embarks on the 2015 general elections, natives of the nation’s capital, Abuja, under the banner of Original Inhabitants Development Association of Abuja, OIDA, have asked the two major presidential candidates, President Goodluck Jonathan of the PDP and Muhammadu Buhari of the APC to campaign in their villages or lose the critical “one-quarter of the votes cast at the election in each of at least two-thirds of all the States in the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja” as stated in Section 134(b) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

The OIDA President, Danladi Jeji disclosed this at the 3rd FCT Heritage Day celebration and launching of N200 million naira education endowment fund of the nine indigenous tribes of the Federal Capital Territory held in Kuje town during the weekend.
He said: “as the nation embarks on the 2015 general elections, we call on all presidential candidates, especially of the two biggest political parties, APC and PDP to proceed from Abuja city centre to our indigenous towns like Abaji, Kuje, Bwari, Karu, Zuba etc to campaign vigorously for votes. Unless the two top contenders, President Goodluck Jonathan and General Muhammadu Buhari step into our indigenous communities to tell us what their governments will do for us, we shall have no choice than to cast our votes elsewhere, thereby depriving them of the critical one-quarter or 25 percent of the votes needed in the FCT to guarantee their victory.”

Mr. Danladi also reiterated that a situation where the entire country will be voting for governorship elections on February 28, 2015 with FCT-Abuja left out of the election “is unacceptable to us. We call on the Federal Government and National Assembly to ensure all constitutional amendments that will allow FCT natives and residents to vote for a Governor, Mayor or howsoever called in the 2019 general elections.”
Urging Abuja natives and residents to ensure the collection of their Permanent Voters Card (PVC), OIDA also admonished them to vote for only those Senatorial and House of Representatives candidates that promise not to misuse the mandate of Abuja people.
“We are tired of the indolence of our representatives while other federal legislators are championing the cause of their people in the National Assembly. This is the time to vote wise and accountable federal legislators. We can’t have the National Assembly in our backyard and still be taken for granted by the national parliament and Nigerians.
“We need a vibrant, loud, accessible and people-friendly Senator and House of Representative Members that will redefine the campaign for the constitutional amendment and democratization of governance in the way Abuja people are governed. Those lucky fellows that will be entrusted with this mandate on February 14 should be prepared for a new phase of constituents-legislators dialogue, as we shall no longer be quiet or pushed aside again.”
Also speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to President Jonathan on Ethics and Values, Sarah Jibril, identified with the struggle of Abuja natives for the restoration of their constitutional rights to vote and be voted for like other Nigerians. She commended OIDA leaders for building a community based organisation and urged the group to team up with her office for the establishment of a microfinance bank tailored towards granting loans to small and medium enterprises owned by Abuja natives.
The president of the association also said the group recorded huge achievements in 2014 which marked it out as a credible voice of Abuja indigenous people.
“OIDA wrote a memoranda to the National Conference which led to the approval of the following recommendations by the body for Abuja indigenous people: Mayoral status for Abuja; One (1) Ministerial slot for FCT; Two (2) additional Federal Constituencies; Two (2) additional Area Councils; an FCT Commission for indigenous people and the National Conference also asked the Federal Government to accelerate compensation for owners of seized lands in the FCT. We ask the Federal Government to immediately implement all these recommendations.”
While reminding President Goodluck Jonathan of his promise to grant FCT indigenes one ministerial and one permanent secretary slot which was made during a visit by the delegation of FCT traditional and political officeholders to the presidency, OIDA pledged to support the Federal Government’s development efforts in the Territory.
The association also asked the FCT Minister, Bala Mohammed, to restructure the land swap and other land use policies of the FCTA in such a way that will accommodate the demands of Abuja natives for equity, resettlement and compensation of seized lands.
“We plead with the FCT Minister to reconsider the demands of OIDA and other FCT stakeholders for the restructuring of such land swap agreements to include 30 per cent ownership for the Project Affected Communities through legally signed documents.”
The group said the FCT Heritage Day is designed to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the nine indigenous tribes of the Federal Capital Territory namely: Amwamwa, Bassa, Egbura-koto, Gade, Ganagana, Gbagyi, Gbari, Gwandara and Koro. The guest speaker at this year’s event was Barrister George Koce who spoke on the annihilation of FCT natives and the consequence of such actions by the Nigerian government. The event had top traditional rulers like the Gomo of Kuje, Agabe of Gwargwada and many prominent Abuja natives in attendance.
