Mazaje,
There's nothing supernatural about after death experiences. Why issue yourself a headache over stuff that wasn't meant for you? Most of the after death experiences here were of atheists lol. I find it fascinating that it happens irrespective of religious belief. I find it fascinating that smarter atheists than you who actually underwent the experience found atheism impossible after what they saw. I put two experiences of atheist university professors there. Maybe you should go tell them it's their brains. It seems not to have occurred to them. How easy that must have been for you to say, though that's long been debunked. Attaboy. Sherlock Holmes has saved the day again! How do you do it, Mr Holmes? There are millions of the stuff. Everybody who dies goes through it. We have these stories only because they returned, a minority among the dead, as most do not. They were simply people who died. When you die your spirit will leave your body and see stuff, and you can tell yourself whatever it is you want to tell yourself then. 'Don't panic, Mazaje. It's the brain under duress.' See how that works for you then. If your dismissal does something for you; validates your beliefs in some way, by all means treat yourself; dismiss away.

@mazaje

I find your complete dismissal a tad extreme. It appears you are being as dogmatic are the religiously inclined whose religious views you dismiss for being dogmatic.
I said I wasn't disputing all the accounts but I believe that NDE's are mostly based off of the culture of the individual. . . . . . .These 'NDE's are also triggered by acceleration (i.e. centrifuge chairs). Are we to believe that the Gods who snatch up souls are fooled by spinning people around a bit?

http://www.skepdic.com/nde.html
http://www.google.com/search?q=NDE+centrifuge

Or perhaps it's just that a hypoxic brain that's misfiring produces all kinds of effects and side-effects on an 'altered consciousness' mind, which are great fodder for hallucinations in suggestible people.

Heightened brain activity? Nope. Scroll back and read the experience of George Rodoniah.
Read objectively. This professor was either telling an elaborate lie he cooked up while sober or he actually went into some cosmic realm. Heightened brain activity is simply impossible here. Comparing NDEs with the physical body lifting a car does not cut it. That is a case of the body exceeding its capacity to achieve an imperative goal. The brain does the same when you are in trouble. In NDEs, it appears the experiences are, for the most part, not brought about by a burning desire to achieve anything. That desire only comes after the fact. That is, it is when mazaje dies and finds himself surrounded by lights that the first thing that drops into his mind is: How about God? Could he really exist?
I am very sure that the guy is lying because no body that has been clinically certified to have been dead for 3 days has ever come back to life. . . . .Here are just a few points I'll like to point out. . . . . .

1. Hearsay is not objective evidence.

2. Even if given the benefit of the doubt; the shear number of random occurrences guarantees it to be indistinguishable from simple abstract constructions of brain chemistry. We would no more be able to decide which NDE is the 'correct one' or that they occur with enough significant statistical probability to warrant anyone over another.

3. We already have a significant understanding of the processes in the brain during death; including those processes that would induce similar experiences as claimed in supernatural NDEs'.

And the question of whether they were really dead is debatable, since in many of the cases the doctors believed they were and cleared them for burial. I am not saying I take these experiences as proof of anything. I am just trying to show you that your grounds for dismissing them don’t stand on solid ground.
The Real Question: Is it possible to believe NDEs are 'supernatural' after all of these years of research, study, experimentation, etc. that shows it's all in your brain?. . . . . . .

What is it with this NDE brouhaha?. . . . . .

Here is a Muslim NDE from http://www.near-death.com/muslim.html

As she headed for shore, she realized that she was too far out to make it back. She began to struggle and swallow water. Finally she slipped beneath the waves. I went under for the fourth time, and my body went limp and I wasn't aware of it anymore. It was at this point that I saw a beautiful white light. It was so bright and yet it had such a calming effect that the more I looked at it, the calmer I felt. To this day I can't really say what that light was. In my religion (Muslim) there are beings called angels who are made out of pure white light. Maybe that is what I saw.

Anyway, while I was underwater, I heard a voice say, "You are not to die like this." Suddenly I felt this energy shoot through me from my feet to my head, and at the same time I seemed to be propelled out of the water. It was as if someone was physically bringing me out of the water, but I can swear that there was no physical being there.
She saw Muslim angels.

How about this website with 11 NDE's from Thailand. http://www.shaktitechnology.com/bkknde.htm

Go look at it. Almost all of them mention Yamatoots, which are servants of Yama, Lord of the Dead. This is just more evidence that NDE's are completely based off of the culture of the individual.

Here is a Native American one. http://www.near-death.com/elk.html

When Black Elk was a boy of nine, he collapsed with a severe, painful swelling of his legs, arms and face. He lost consciousness and lay in his tipi dying. He was called by two men coming from the clouds, saying, "Hurry up, your grandfather is calling you." He was raised up out of his tipi into the clouds, feeling sorry to leave his parents. He was shown an elaborate vision oriented around a classic Native American mandala: the circular hoop, the four directions, and the center of the world on an axis stretching from sky to Earth, numerous neighing, dancing horses, surrounded by lightning and thunder, filled the sky at each direction.

He was told to behold this, then to follow a bay horse, which led him to a rainbow door. Inside, sitting on clouds, were six grandfathers, "older than men can ever be - old like hills, old like stars." The oldest grandfather welcomed the boy and said: "Your Grandfathers all over the world are having a council, and they have called you here to teach you."

His voice was very kind, but the boy shook all over with fear now, for he knew that these were not old men, but the Powers of the World.

Each Grandfather gave Black Elk a power. The first Grandfather gave him the power to heal. The second Grandfather then gave the boy the power of cleansing. The third Grandfather gave the boy the power of awakening and its peace. From the fourth Grandfather the boy was given the power of growth. The fifth Grandfather, the Spirit of the Sky, gave the power of transcendent vision. The sixth Grandfather, a very old man, incredibly grew backwards into youth until he became the boy, Black Elk.
am not saying NDE's don't happen. But to say they are evidence of the afterlife is pretty foolish, given the fact that the people are not actually dead when they happen. The only thing NDE's show is that we don't fully understand how the brain works when it is placed under extreme duress. We know the body can do amazing things when under severe stress (lifting cars off children, etc). And that's all natural. Why can't the brain do the same thing?

It's all cultural. If all NDE's were the same, regardless of culture and beliefs, then you might have more evidence on your side. But a few Christian woo experiences doesn't lead to the belief in the Christian God, any more than 11 Thai experiences makes me believe in Yamatoots

Pls stop visiting Christian apologist websites and copying lies. . . . .I will try and debunk some of your entries that I have been falsified by many sources. . .I wil begin with The ark of the covenant?.

Many people have said to have discovered the ark of covenant but how can that be true when the book of revelation says that it is no longer on earth?. . . . . That aside there are many people who have made many claims to the arks discovery but the one that draws the most attention is the claim by Ron Wyatt. . . . . . .Ron Wyatt is NOT an archeologist and has been shown to be a fraud even by other Christian organizations who have open websites debunking his claims and showing his fraudulent ways some of which i have posted here on this thread. . . . .A simple reading of the bible will tell you that the ark of covenant is lost for ever according to the bible. . . . . .

Jeremiah 3:16 strongly suggests that there is to be no reappearance of the Ark of the Covenant, either: ‘And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more.’

Here is an entry from Answers in genesis with regards to his claims about the discovery of the Ark of covenant. . . . .

The Wyatt/Gray ‘track record’ of false claims on other subjects (see main text) makes it easy to dismiss these current claimants to finding the Ark of the Covenant, along with all their ‘reasons’ as to why no one is conveniently allowed to access any hard evidence.

The Ark was probably lost or destroyed when the Babylonians sacked Jerusalem in 587 B.C. and destroyed the temple. If Jews had hidden it, the Ark would surely have been used in the Second Temple, which Josephus says it wasn’t (Jewish Wars 5:219).

An additional reason for skepticism, which would apply to any future such claims by others, relates to God’s dealings in fulfilling the Old Covenant system via the New Covenant in Christ. God forcefully demonstrated this with the destruction of the Jerusalem temple in AD 70, predicted by Christ four decades earlier (Matthew 24). There were to be no more animal sacrifices once His designated ‘Passover Lamb,’ the Lord Jesus Christ (John 1:29, Rev. 13:cool, had been slain ‘once for all’ (Hebrews 10:10).

The Wyatt/Gray claims are truly astonishing (see Amazing claims). Unfortunately, reputable Bible-believing archaeologists and other experts willing and capable of giving an objective assessment are never able to check out the claimed artifacts. There is generally a plausible-sounding story as to why that is impossible, or why the time is not right. The alleged finding of the Ark of the Covenant (see also The Ark of the Covenant—could it even be found?) is associated with claims of supernatural intervention, photographs mysteriously getting fogged or vanishing, and ‘Men in Black’ style government cover-ups.

Are the claims true? If they are, such a staggeringly impressive list would mean that Ron Wyatt had been almost as miraculously assisted by God as the patriarch Moses.4  If, however, a careful examination of just one or two of these claims reveals them to be false, fanciful or fraudulent, the ‘divine leading’ option evaporates, and it is clear that Christians are being seriously misled.

http://www.answersingenesis.org/creation/v21/i2/ark.asp
So the claim of the discovery of the ark of covenant is false since the bible it self says that the ark of covenant is no longer on earth. . . .

philip0906:
Saint Luke

I decided to start with the writer known by many as Saint Luke, because that's where the archaeologists and historians seemed to start. Also, Luke wrote about one-quarter of the New Testament (the Gospel of Luke and the Book of Acts), so, for me, that was a big enough chunk of text to start testing the veracity of the entire New Testament.

Starting about 150 years ago, scholars in Europe started rejecting the historical records of Saint Luke. These academics declared that there was no evidence to support the existence of several locations and leaders mentioned in Luke's writings, and therefore, they rejected the entirety of his account. However, I discovered that archaeological finds during the last century have revealed that Luke was a very accurate historian and the two books he authored were absolutely authoritative records of history!

One of the greatest archaeologists of all time was Sir William Ramsay. He studied under the famous German historical schools in the mid-nineteenth century, which taught that the New Testament was a religious treatise written in the mid-200s AD, and not an historical document recorded in the first century. Ramsay was so convinced of this teaching that he entered the field of archaeology and went to Asia Minor to specifically find the physical evidence to refute Luke's biblical record. After years of field study, Ramsay completely reversed his entire view of the Bible and first century history. He wrote:

Luke is a historian of the first rank; not merely are his statements of fact trustworthy, he is possessed of the true historic sense, in short, this author should be placed along with the greatest of historians.1

Luke's accuracy is demonstrated by the fact that he names key historical figures in the correct time sequence. He also uses the correct, and often obscure, government titles in various geographical areas, including the politarchs of Thessalonica, the temple wardens of Ephesus, the procouncil of Cyprus, and the "first man of the island" in Malta. In Luke's announcement of Jesus' public ministry, he mentions, "Lysanius tetrarch of Abilene". Scholars questioned Luke's credibility since the only Lysanius known for centuries was a leader of Chalcis who ruled from 40-36 BC. However, an inscription dated to the time of Tiberius (14-37 AD) was found, which records a temple dedication naming Lysanius as the "tetrarch of Abila" (Abilene near Damascus). This matched Luke's account and stunned the liberal scholarship of the day. 2

In the Book of Acts, Paul was brought before Gallio, the proconsul of Achaea. Again, archaeology confirms this account. At Delphi, an inscription from Emperor Claudius was discovered that says, "Lucius Junios Gallio, my friend, and the proconsul of Achaia . . ." Historians date the inscription to 52 AD, which supports the time of Paul's visit there in 51 AD. 3

Later in Acts, Erastus, a coworker of Paul, is appointed treasurer of Corinth. In 1928, archaeologists excavated a Corinthian theatre and discovered an inscription that reads, "Erastus in return for his aedilship laid the pavement at his own expense." The pavement was laid in 50 AD, and the term "aedile" refers to the designation of treasurer. 4

In another passage, Luke gives Plubius, the chief man on the island of Malta, the title, "first man of the island." Scholars questioned this strange title and deemed it unhistorical. Inscriptions have recently been discovered on the island that indeed give Plubius the title of "first man." 5

Elsewhere, Luke uses the Greek term "politarchs" ("rulers of the city"wink to refer to the leaders in Thessalonica. Although it sounds inconsequential, this was another hit against Luke's credibility for centuries, because no other Greek literature used this leadership term. However, approximately 20 inscriptions have now been discovered that bear the term "politarch," including five finds that specifically refer to the ancient leadership in Thessalonica. 6

As a final example, Saint Luke calls Iconium a city in Phyrigia. Who cares? Well, this was also a major rub against the credibility of Luke for centuries. Scholars, going all the way back to writings from historians like Cicero, maintained that Iconium was in Lycaonia, not Phyrigia. Therefore, scholars declared that the entire Book of Acts was unreliable. Guess what? In 1910, Ramsay was looking for the evidence to support this long-held claim against Luke and he uncovered a stone monument declaring that Iconium was indeed a city in Phyrigia. 7 Many archaeological discoveries since 1910 have confirmed this - Luke was right!

When reviewing the research and writings of Saint Luke, Famous historian A.N. Sherwin-White declares:

In all, Luke names thirty-two countries, fifty-four cities, and nine islands without error. 8

For Acts the confirmation of historicity is overwhelming. . . . Any attempt to reject its basic historicity must now appear absurd.
http://www.allaboutthejourney.org/saint-luke.htm
.i copied and pasted this  If u have link dat refutes this claim, let me know
In two thousand years, Danielle Steele novels could also be taken as "Historically Accurate". After all, the people live in places like New York, Los Angeles and when future archeologists find those places, the "Unabridged Gospels according to St. Danielle of the liberation" will likewise be "proven true". . . . . . .I'll give you one word philip0906:

"Troy"

The "Odyssey and the Iliad" dealt with a city that was supposed to be a myth. It was found. Now because it was found, does that make Athena, Poseidon, Odysseus, Circe and the other Gods, monster and people real too? So what if Luke uses the names of real places?Writing about places is one thing, writing about people is something else

While some archaeologists leave open the possibility of a Semitic tribe coming from Egyptian servitude among the early hilltop settlers and that Moses or a Moses-like figure may have existed in Transjordan ca 1250-1200, they dismiss the possibility that the Exodus could have happened as described in the bible.[19] A century of research by archaeologists and Egyptologists has found no evidence which can be directly related to the Exodus narrative of an Egyptian captivity and the escape and travels through the wilderness,[8] and it has become increasingly clear that Iron Age Israel - the kingdoms of Judah and Israel - has its origins in Canaan, not Egypt:[20] the culture of the earliest Israelite settlements is Canaanite, their cult-objects are those of the Canaanite god El, the pottery remains in the local Canaanite tradition, and the alphabet used is early Canaanite.

"And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided." (Exodus 14:21)

The Hebrew Exodus from Egypt is in scope the most miraculous event ever to be recorded by man.  It's historicity though has been challenged and reduced to mere mythology by many religious theologians and biblical archaeologists until recently. In 1978 Ron Wyatt, a biblical archaeologist without formal training, confounded the opponents of biblical historical accuracy by discovering the true "Exodus Red Sea Crossing" in the Gulf of Aqaba (Red Sea) at Nuweiba, Sinai Peninsula.

The authenticity of Wyatt's claim has been validated with the discovery of the remains of ancient Egyptian army chariots lying at the bottom of an underwater land bridge connecting Sinai to Saudi Arabia. Many coral encrusted chariot wheels, and a gilded four spoked chariot wheel were found.  Fossilized human and horse bones were also recovered, but carbon dating was not possible.

The Hebrew name given to the Red Sea crossing site was Pi-hahiroth (Hebrew: פִּי הַחִירֹת). The Hebrew name "Pi-hahiroth" has been translated as "mouth of the gorges," descriptive of its location, where the mouths of two rivers (wadis) combine at the point of entry into the sea.  The Nuweiba peninsula fits this description exactly.  The historical significance of the Nuweiba site as the site of the Exodus crossing was also known in ancient times.  This fact is attested to by the discovery of "commemorative inscriptions erected by King Solomon" on both the Sinai and Saudi Arabian sides of the crossing.

In 2000 Dr. Lennart Moller, a research scientist from Sweden, headed an expedition that retraced the footsteps of Wyatt.  Soon after the expedition, it's Swedish backers produced an excellent documentary video and book supporting Wyatt's claims as well as adding extensively to the archaeological documentation.  Archaeological research is ongoing, with a new documentary due in 2008.
http://www.messianic-literary.com/chariots.htm
I have told you to stop going to Christian apologist websites and copying already debunked fraudulent stories. . . . .Firstly Ron Wyatt is NOT an archeologist, he has been shown to be a fraud on so many levels,

""
Wyatt was a nurse anesthetist (now deceased) who claimed not only to have found Noah's Ark, but to have found virtually everything in Biblical archaeology that might be important to Christians - Noah's Ark, the exact place where the Red Sea was parted to allow the Israelites to escape Egypt, the true location of Mt. Sinai, the Ark of the Covenant and, most ridiculously, the actual blood of Jesus Christ!
This last one is the most amusing of them all. He claims  to have found the Ark of the Covenant in Jerusalem in a secret cave under the actual spot where Christ was crucified, and it had Jesus' blood all over it (the blood had dripped down from the cross).

Whilst in the chamber, Ron noticed a dried, black substance in an earthquake crack in the roof, above the Ark of the Covenant. He noticed that this black substance was also on the lid of the cracked stone casing. Obviously, this substance had dripped from the crack in the roof, and provision had been made for it to land on the Ark of the Covenant, as the stone lid had been cracked and moved aside. Ron wondered what substance could be so sacred, that God made provision for it to land on the Mercy Seat of the Ark of the Covenant. He remembered the earthquake crack at the foot of the cross hole, and suddenly an awesome realization as to what had happened, came over him. Ron traced the earthquake crack, and indeed it was the same crack as the one at the cross hole. The dried black substance in the crack was tested and proved to be blood, apparently the blood of Jesus Christ. The Bible says that when Jesus died there was an earthquake and the rocks were rent (Matt. 27:51). A Roman soldier speared Christ in His side in order to make sure He was dead, and blood and water poured out (John 19:34). Ron discovered that this same blood and water poured down through the earthquake crack and fell upon the Mercy Seat of the Ark of the Covenant.

Since the blood was dried, he had it rehydrated and then, allegedly, had it tested (where are those tests? No one seems to know - surprise, surprise). And here's the result:

Human cells normally have 46 chromosomes. These are actually 23 pairs of homologous chromosomes. In each pair of chromosomes, one of the pair is from the mother and the other member is from the father. Therefore, 23 chromosomes come from the mother and 23 from the father. In each set of 23, 22 chromosomes are autosomal and one is sex-determining. The sex-determining ones are the X chromosome and the Y chromosome. Females are XX, so they can only contribute an X chromosome to their offspring, whereas males are XY, which allows them to contribute either an X or a Y. If they contribute an X, the child is female, whereas if they contribute a Y, the child is male. The fascinating finding in this blood was that instead of 46 chromosomes, there were only 24. There were 22 autosomal chromosomes, one X chromosome and one Y chromosome. This evidences that the person to whom this blood belonged to had a mother but no human father, because the normal contribution of paternal chromosomes is missing.

You really can't write comedy like this. Needless to say, he brags of all these fantastic scientific tests that never see the light of day - but trust him, he's got em! His assistant, Jim Pinkoski, is quite an amusing fellow. He'll show you a piece of genuine petrified wood from Noah's Ark. And when you point out that this "petrified wood" has no rings in it, he'll tell you - with a straight face - that that's because trees didn't have rings before the flood. Burial Box of James, the Lord’s Brother found!

The inscription on the top reads, "James, son of Joseph, brother of Jesus."

Photograph supplied by the Biblical Archaeology Society. Top: The actual inscription. Bottom: The burial box.

In one of the most spectacular archeological finds this century, the burial box of James the brother of Jesus has been discovered. All the details have been reported in the November/December 2002 issue of Biblical Archaeological Review. Technically, the burial box is referred to as an ossuary. The ossuary slightly trapezoid in shape with dimensions about 20 inches long, by10 inches wide, by 12 inches high. On the top of the box the inscription reads, "James, son of Joseph, brother of Jesus." The paleographer at Sorbonne University in Paris (École Pratique des Hautes Études), Andre Lemaire, dated the empty box to 63 A.D.

What is significant about this find, is that it is the only artifact of archeology in existence to connect the names Joseph, James and Jesus. Until now, all references to the three men have been found only in manuscripts.

From 100 B.C. to 70 A.D., it was the custom of the Jews to leave their dead in a cave and come back one year later to retrieve the bones, which were de-articulated and placed in the ossuary. The box itself is one of hundreds that have been found in the area. The Geological Institute of Israel confirmed the inscription is written in a form of Aramaic used during the middle of the first century A.D.

The burial box is currently in the hands of private anonymous Jewish owner. We can only wonder why such an artifact of breathtakingly important value would have been hidden from the world until now. The story that the Jewish owner did not know what the inscription said, seems unlikely. Obviously, if you are "Israel's largest private collector", (as rumors say) you would certainly want to know what the inscription said. The 15-25 year delay, therefore, only hinders authentication of the artifact.

After the box was shipped to Canada for a museum display, it was discovered the box was damaged in transport. This was due to no fault of Canada or the museum to which it was shipped. The owner had not used qualified "museum trained" packers, who if used, would have packed it properly.

Pls stop going to Christian apologist websites and copying already debunked stories, the Jame brother of Jesus tomb has been shown to be a fraud. . . .Here is an entry from time magazine on the fraudulent story. . . . . .

Fraudulent Relics and the Brother of Jesus

https://img.timeinc.net/time/daily/2008/0810/ossuary_1014.jpg

When the James ossuary toured Canada in October 2002, it attracted thousands of the curious and faithful. Some visitors kneeled in quiet prayer. But back in Israel, police detectives, along with a growing posse of biblical scholars, were growing skeptical of the ossuary's authenticity. After a two-year investigation, police in December 2004 charged the antiquities collector and four others of forgery, alleging that the James ossuary was a clever fake and that Golan had masterminded an international ring of thieves that over the past 20 years had duped major museums and collectors out of millions.

Put on trial, Golan denied the charges, and some experts and the pious rallied to his side. Nevertheless, one of the detectives insisted, "Oded Golan played with our beliefs, the beliefs of Jews and Christians. That is why it's the fraud of the century."

Believers and scientists alike were shocked by the accusations that not only was the James ossuary a fake but so were two other rare objects of biblical significance: an inscribed pomegranate and the gold-flecked Jehoash tablet, which both supposedly came from Solomon's Temple, destroyed by the Babylonians in the 6th century B.C. Those two relics are linked to Golan's workshop, say police. As Burleigh describes it, the debate over the authenticity of these sacred items pitted scientists against believers. She writes, "The faithful — those who believe in a higher, supernatural power that leaves a material record of itself for man to literally hold and behold — must also confront and grapple with the painful presence of doubt."

Like any other Holy Land story, it's a potent mix of religion and politics. As Burleigh writes, "Where historians seek clues to the puzzle of the ancient worlds, evangelical Christians seek proof of the literal interpretation of the Bible and nationalist Israelis want evidence of ancient Jewish inhabitation."

http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1850111,00.html
The relics are mostly fraudulent, as the time magazine entry states, most of the Jews just go around digging up places and making things up while looking for or trying to justify ancient Jewish in-habitations, while Christians just go about making things up to either get money or other things. . . .

philip0906:
Archaeology is an important science that confirms the historical accuracy of the Bible. Since the Bible makes reference to hundreds of cities, kings, and places, we would expect to find evidence from on-site excavations. If we did not find any such evidence, we would highly question the Bible's claim of inspiration and tend to view it as myth and folklore. We would regard the Bible as the product of human imagination rather than a divinely inspired record about real historical events, about real people living in real cities.
This guys just keeps making spurious claims one after the other, your archeological find that supports any of the major events in the bible is what? The archeological evidence that supports the Exodus from Egypt is WHAT?. . . . .

At the turn of the century, skeptics viewed the Bible as myth rather than real world history . For example, the Bible makes over 40 references to the great Hittite Empire. You see, 100 years ago, no archaeological evidence had ever been found to prove it really did exist. "Just another Bible myth!" skeptics charged in an attempt to destroy our faith in the Bible. This, however, cannot be said today, for in 1906, Hugo Winckler uncovered a library of 10,000 clay tablets. These ancient records fully documented the long lost Hittite Empire and confirmed the reliability of the Bible. Later excavations uncovered Boghazkoy, the capital city of this "mythical" empire.
So the bible talks about the Hittite empire which has been discovered, Ok good, I want the archeological evidence that points to the occurrence if any of the major events written in the bible, like the exodus out of Egypt and the conquest of canaan, where are the tombs of Abraham, Moses, Issac, Jacob, Jesus, Joshua etc. . . . ,

These discoveries not only authenticate Scripture, but also illuminate many aspects of biblical culture. Abraham's purchase of Ephron's field records the following: "So Ephron's field, which was in Machpelah, which faced Mamre, the field and cave which was in it, and all the trees which were in the field, that were within all the confines of its border, were deeded over to Abraham for a possession in the presence of the sons of Heth." (Genesis 23:17), This reflects the standard Hittite real estate procedure of counting the trees involved in any purchase or sale of land. Note also that the witnesses to Abraham's purchase were the "son's of Heth" -i.e. the Hittites.
Did the archeological find provide any evidence to show that Moses was a real person as described in the bible?. . . . . . The city of Troy that has long been thought to be a mythical city was also discovered, so that proves that Zeus was real, no?. . . .  .

Today, so many Bible cities, names and events have been unearthed through archaeology that the Bible is considered the single most important historical document in existence. Many lost cities have been located using the Bible as a road map. So startling and impressive are some of the finds that one archaeologist was compelled to say, "They are digging up Bible stories!"
Stop copying and pasting the lies you copy from christian apologist websites, the assertion is false, which of the major biblical event has been unearth though archeology? Who told you that the bible is the most important historical document in human existence? Why is the bible not used in history classes?

Skeptics once rejected the Bible's claim that the Hittite Empire existed until they saw the evidence with their own eyes. Today, skeptics reject the Bible's claim that God himself exists or that the Bible is a divinely written book. Perhaps the only way they will believe in God is after they have seen him with their own eyes when they stand before Him in the judgment day. Only, then it will be too late!
Who are the skeptics that once rejected that the Hitite once lived?

For many centuries, the Old Testament stood as the lone historical record of numerous events, places and people of the ancient world. Many of these records were once publicly ridiculed by skeptics of the Bible as being inauthentic and incorrect. It was reasoned that since no mention of them had been found in any other historical writing that this proved once and for all that the Bible was incorrect. Recent archeological discoveries, however, have proven the Bible to be correct in great detail and those who opposed it to be false.
Where are the archeological finds that support any of the major events recorded in the bible?

In Genesis 11:31, for instance, Abraham (Abram) is said to have lived in the city of your. The existence of this great city was often scorned until, recent archeological diggings uncovered its ancient ruins. Temples, houses, and even the king's and queen's tombs have been discovered.
And was Abraham's tomb also discovered?. . . . .When you read up Harry Potter you will see that real a real city called london was used, names of real places were used, if people are to read harry potter in 5000 years to come does that mean that the fictitious novel  and its characters will suddenly become real just because some real cities and town were mentioned in the novel?

The ancient Egyptian city of Pithom has been uncovered and storehouses fitting the description of those built by the Israelites have been found, the lower portion containing brick with straw and the upper portion containing brick without straw. (See Exodus 1:11; 5:7). The mummy of Neneptah II, widely believed to be the Pharaoh of the exodus, has been discovered. A hymn to him mentions Israel and the inscription tells of the death of his young son, possibly the one mentioned in the last plague (Exodus 12:29).
This statement is just a pure LIE, Even bible schlars are yet to agree on who the pharaoh at the exodus was. . . . .Pls where is the hymn that to the king that mentions Israel? Provide it if you want to be taken seriously. . . .You just go to christian websites and copy the lies of christian apologist and their baseless claims. . . . ,

The evidence presented here is just a tiny portion of the proofs available to establish the divine origin of the Bible. Yet, they are more than sufficient to prove the inspiration of the Bible. There will always be men who scoff at the Bible. You, however, can be confident when you read your Bible that God is the author, for it is written
Which part of the bible did God write. . . . .

who does the Tanakkah point to? who does it lay emphasis on?. . . God.
if u cannot understand that the centre/focus of the scripture is God then u cannot understand the emphasis on faith and prayer. That the bible is used as an historical reference does not mean that that was what it was intended for.
All I know is that the ancient Jews have been using the BOTH as a historical and a spiritual book of guidance for ages. . . Mordern knowledge is what completely changed that line of thought, a simple reading of the OT will tell you that . . . . . . .

Its unacceptable to suggest that apostle Paul was writing letters to the romans to serve as a historical tool for the jews. . .were the romans jews?
I was referring to the OT. . .

2. The big bang is not scientifically or intellectually plausibel, unless u are being dishonest. how cn u explain to a 5 year old kid that the intelligent existence of this universe is an accidental occurrence? . . .that sounds quite dumb to me.
Where does the big bang state that the existence of the Universe is an accidental occurrence? It seems you are just making stuffs up and running commentary on them. . , .The big bang model is scientific and it has scientific evidence to back it up. . . . . .

3. The two accounts of Genesis are one and the same. Genesis 1 explains creation for God's point of view and Genesis 2 tells us from human point of view. An objective analysis of the two accounts will give a plausible illustration as to the manifestation of the works of God.
Where in the bible does it say that genesis 1 explains the creation in God's point of view and Genesis 2 an explanation from man's point of view, If that is the case when did God create the stars in genesis 2? Where did he create light and when did he create the sun in genesis 2?. . . . . The FACT of the matter is that both creation accounts are different, they were written by different people over different periods, in fact most scholars agree that genesis 2 was written before genesis on and genesis 1 is a priestly commentary on genesis 2

4. and what observable evidence does the big bang have? am I missing something?

2. what explanation do u have for the rootless polystrate fossils . . .  .until u give me a plausible explanation that contradicts the need for a global flood to transport these fossils and the notion of the world being as it is now in the days of Noah. ,   .my take is that Noah's flood is scientifically plausible. . . .can u prove me wrong?
We have been through this before, from I got this geological explanation for the formation of polystrate fossils from wikipedia. . .

In geology, such fossils are referred to as upright fossils, trunks, or trees. Brief periods of rapid sedimentation favor their formation. Upright fossils are typically found in layers associated with an actively subsiding coastal plain or rift basin, or with the accumulation of volcanic material around a periodically erupting stratovolcano. Typically, this period of rapid sedimentation was followed by a period of time, decades to thousands of years long, characterized by very slow or no accumulation of sediments. In river deltas  and other coastal plain settings, rapid sedimentation is often the end result of a brief period of accelerated subsidence of an area of coastal plain relative to sea level caused by salt tectonics, global sea level rise, growth faulting, continental margin collapse, or some combination of these factors.
We don't even have to go into any scntific explanation at all, HISTORY disprves the Noah's flood because there were civilizations in places like China, India, Egypt and other parts of the world that were thriving during  and after the period of the so called global flood. . .

3. The Jewish resurrection was a spiritual context. your attempt to make literal meaning of it is jejune. where is the holy city mentioned in that scripture? is it a physical city or a spiritual one?
Why do you keep shooting yourself in the foot, where is it written in the story that the Jewish resurrection is a spiritual context? If that is the case then the alleged resurrection of Jesus is also a spiritual context and not a literal event. . . . .Was the massacre of the innocent that is recorded in the bible also of spiritual context, or what the census that was conducted also o spiritual context? what about the trial of Jesus by the Sanhedrin is it also of spiritual context? How do you know what is of spiritual context and what is not? This assertion is yours not that of the writer, a simple reading of the passage shows that it is not a spiritual narrative but a literal narrative, I will only take your claims seriously if you provide evidence from the text that supports your assertions. .  .

Christianity Etc › Re: Does The Christian God Actually Exist? by mazaje(m): 4:26pm On Aug 29, 2010
philip0906:
Now let me help u guys. . .
There are both internal and external evidences that the Bible is truly God’s Word. The internal evidences are those things within the Bible that testify of its divine origin.
Beside the lies of the authors what evidence do you have to show that the bible is of divine origin? Why the bible alone and not other religious text that have made similar claims of divine origins?. . .  .

One of the first internal evidences that the Bible is truly God’s Word is seen in its unity. Even though it is really sixty-six individual books, written on three continents, in three different languages, over a period of approximately 1500 years, by more than 40 authors who came from many walks of life, the Bible remains one unified book from beginning to end without contradiction. This unity is unique from all other books and is evidence of the divine origin of the words which God moved men to record.
This is very FALSE because a simple reading of the bible shows that the authors had  very different views and conception of what God is and how he operates, that is why the bible is FULL of contradictory nature of who God is. . . . .

Another of the internal evidences that indicates the Bible is truly God’s Word is the prophecies contained within its pages. The Bible contains hundreds of detailed prophecies relating to the future of individual nations including Israel, certain cities, and mankind.
Pls can you tell us about JUST ONE biblical prophecy that has come to pass, what is the prophecy regarding Israel?. . . . .

Other prophecies concern the coming of One who would be the Messiah, the Savior of all who would believe in Him. Unlike the prophecies found in other religious books or those by men such as Nostradamus, biblical prophecies are extremely detailed.
Again what are the prophecies that you keep talking about?. . . . .I can list 10 false prophecies in the bible, if you want me to I will be willing to oblige you anytime. . . .

There are over three hundred prophecies concerning Jesus Christ in the Old Testament. Not only was it foretold where He would be born and His lineage, but also how He would die and that He would rise again. There simply is no logical way to explain the fulfilled prophecies in the Bible other than by divine origin. There is no other religious book with the extent or type of predictive prophecy that the Bible contains.
This statement is FALSE because the Jew that own the old testament say it aint true. . . . . .

There are also external evidences that indicate the Bible is truly the Word of God. One is the historicity of the Bible. Because the Bible details historical events, its truthfulness and accuracy are subject to verification like any other historical document. Through both archaeological evidences and other writings, the historical accounts of the Bible have been proven time and time again to be accurate and true. In fact, all the archaeological and manuscript evidence supporting the Bible makes it the best-documented book from the ancient world
Another VERY false statement, I will like you to pls provide JUST ONE archeological evidence that supports any of the major events in the bible, like the exodus from Egypt or the conquest of Canaan, pls ONLY one archeological  evidence to support any of the major biblical events will do. . . . .If the bible is the most documented book from the ancient world why then is it not used as a history book in universities and colleges around the world? Why do people study  and rely other historical documents other than the bible?

The fact that the Bible accurately and truthfully records historically verifiable events is a great indication of its truthfulness when dealing with religious subjects and doctrines and helps substantiate its claim to be the very Word of God.
Historical verifiable evidences like what exactly, stop copying and pasting baseless assertions from people that don't know anything about what they are lying about. . . . .What are the true events that the bible records that has archeological support? We can start with the exodus out of Egypt, WHERE is the archeological evidence that supports the exodus myth?

Throughout time, skeptics have regarded the Bible as mythological, but archeology has confirmed it as historical.
Where is the archeological evidence to support this lie of yours?. . . . .

its veracity and impact on lives is unmistakable. The accuracy which has been preserved despite every attempt to corrupt, attack, or destroy it is clear testimony to the fact that the Bible is truly God’s Word and is supernaturally protected by Him.
Its veracity has been discredited by itself because of the many contradictions that abound in it. . . So your God protects the bible , eh? How so?. . , .

U ignorant minority that call your selves "free thinkers",none of u can discredit d Bible and God.your "bosses" have tried but failed. Many Great men have tried 2 discredit d Bible, but they r all gone and d Bible still remains. . .If u continue 2 discredit d Bible,u 2 will turn 2 dust one day and d Bible d most "read book",will still remain.
The bible has already discredit itself even christians pick and choose what parts to accept, many of its teachings and moral tenets are outdated and if you are to practice some of its moral principles in a civilized and rational society , you will be arrested and put in prison. . . .

I still quote this passage 4 u Heaven and Earth shall pass away, but my word will never pass away" Mark13:31 who amongst u can disprove and discredit dat passage?Anyone that does, will definitely have "won d day". . .
What word is that exactly? The words written in other religious text that predate the bible are still around and will continue to be around to, no?. . . ,

Here u go.Go do your research well, everything said in your Bible is happening and will still take place b4 your very eyes.Ignorant mind,The Bible was written many centuries ago(atleast everybody agrees with dat) wether it was authentic or not.
The bible was written long ago but the FACT is that most of its authors remain UNKNOWN and it was written mostly after the events it was talking about. . . . .

But tell me which "book" ever made perfect predictions of our present day?The Bible u claim 2 have rea, didn't u come across d passages that talked of War happening in rapid succesion?Didn't your Bible tell u dat Earthquakes will happen in "these last days"?Didn't your Bible, tell u dat evil will abound in these last days?Isn't it happening right b4 u?Ignorant soul,YES OR NO?
Mr man are you kidding me? Let me tell you something, wars have drastically reduced presently, we don't even fight wars now despite the fact that we have nuclear weapons, back in the days people live in walled cities because of how barbaric their life styles were, when you visit places like Greece, Turkey, Syria, Isreal etc you will have an idea of what am talking about the chances of been killed by another man now has greatly reduced compared to like 3000 years ago, when killing people and sacrificing them to Gods was the order of the day(even your God encouraged people to kill others and offer them as burnt offering unto him according to the bible). . . .There is less violence now compared to 3000 years ago, when things like slavery was the order of the day, democracy and freedom of living where things that were non existent 3000 years ago. no? Earthquakes have been and will continue to be a part of the earth, your evidence to show that there are more earthquakes now compared to 3000 years ago is WHAT?. . . . .NOTHING you have said is true so pls try again. . . .

The Bible tells us of "increased knowledge in d "last days"". . .Isn't it happening right b4 u?Mind u,even Mohammed,"recognised d Bible and Jesus".READ THE KORAN. . .  What of d many discoveries made dat proves dat indeed,d Bible is "MASTER OF ALL".Were u lost when even many non-christians,were finding "tombs" and "death places"? Ignorant Soul. . .
Even the people back then knew that knowledge increases with time. no? WHERE is the discovery that shows that the bible is master of anything?. . . .I am not interested in platitudes when you make claims make sure you have evidence to back them up . . . .

I laff. . .isn't it your fellow "thinkers" who told us dat they have discovered everything "hidden" under d sun? They told us dat we had 9 planets and yet they r discovering more and their discoveries which began ages is yet 2 be completed?Psalm 145:3 is only being confirmed.Cell theory, propounded by who?Humans like me?Isn't it these scientists that update their research work, when they falter?MY BIBLE HAS NEVER BEEN UPDATED :DLol. . .u then have not read d Bible u claimed 2 have read or u simply do not understand it. . . .Man,I told u 2 be more adventerous, praticalise,u'll get your questions solved.Don't let your little brain blind u in2 trying 2 know d truth. How d'u know beans is bitter without tasting it?
Who wrote the bible, Ignorant humans that thought the sun revolves around the earth, no? Who wrote the bible? people that thought it was right to kill others that do not worship their God and offer them as burnt sacrifice unto him, no?. . . . . .Your evidence that any God inspired the bible beside the lies of those that said so is WHAT? Saying that the bible is the word of God without bringing or providing the God to come and speak for himself says you are lying, no? Beside was it not humans that sat down and voted on which books to be included in the bible?. . . . .Was it not humans that wrote all the mythologies and lies that are found in the bible?. . . . .You talked about your bible not being updated, its very clear you know NOTHING about the history of the bible because it has been edited and updated so many time. . . . . .

All these is your little brain "working" here. . .your whole life,is even more mythical than u actually think God is.Only if u could reason and think, your whole life is shrouded by mysteries which u can't even explain. . .your world is shrouded by mysteries which u can't explain and u know dat. . .But 4 sure, your doubts will be cleared some day.Opps i 4got,u talk about d Bible?Read dat Bible well,it promised of a day when everyone will INDEED face that God we'r talking of.A wise man, would say. . ."Let dat day come first"
So because the bible makes a claim then it must be true, eh? I am not interested in false and ridiculous claims that have no evidence, am only interested i claims that are verifiable and have evidence to support them, Since the bible has been shown to be FALSE(a lot of biblical claims have been shown to be false) with regards to some of its claims that I can check and verify, why then should I trust it with regards to things that I can not verify like eternal life?. . . . .All religious books have claims about what will happen after a person dies, I just want you to show that your own religion assertions is true while that of other religions are false, so evidence to back up our religious claims pls. . . . . .

Lame attack. . .U can't give me evidence about a whole lot in your life,though u claim 2 know them.If u could think.I could try 2 disprove all d theories that I had been taught in school,but y? U looking 4 evidence?My Bible is my evidence. . .What proof d'u have?your brain?your brain dat tells u 2 move 2 d other side of d way,only 4 u 2 meet your death?
Ok, go ahead and disprove the cell theory or the theory of gravity and the theory of relativity and lets see how far you will go. . . . .The bible is NOT and will never be an evidence for anything, the bible is only full of ridiculous claims, so many of which have been shown to be false(creation account, global flood, Exodus form Egypt, Conquest of Canaan, some of the events surrounding the life of Jesus etc) . . . . . By the way the bible also contradicts it self because it is FULL of contradictions and copyist errors. . . . . .At lest I use my brain to critically analyze things, I just don't accept things because I was forced to accept them since childhood or because the society in live in blindly accepts them. . . . . . .Am happy for my brain because it functions better than that of so many other people. . . . . .

Many have claimed and testified 2 the Bible promises being fulfilled in their life. . .But your "lil brain" won't tell u 2 go find out if its true and c if it could work in your life.U should be more adventerous,u'll get answers 2 many of your questions
What particular claims are you talking about, list them and lets examine them closely, by the way you just said that people have claimed, people always make claims, and people are also known to lie for their religions all the time, take a look at the Church and its history, it has always been one lie after the other, by the way muslims also claim and testify to the promises of the koran in their lives, no? When you look around to you see Christians faring better than non christians? Do christians recover faster from sickness than non christians? Are christian better protected from harm than non christians? Are christians richer or happier than non christians? The answer is a big NO, so what the heck are you talking about? What exactly are the biblical promises that are been "fulfilled"?

People die all d time?lol.God confounds u all.U want God 2 strike u dead now?But he smiles and says, one day u'll still die.
I will die out some day, Your evidence to show that there is a God smiling and saying that I will die someday is WHAT?. . . .Saying things about some God without allowing the said God to talk by himself is fraudulent, no?. . . . .When men were primitive and without much knowledge of how things function, it was written that their God was addressing all of them through public speech, now he suddenly disappeared when we have videos and cameras to record him, or is it only in man made mythologies that your God can do anything?. . . . . .

The thief on d cross mocked Jesus prolly expecting Jesus 2 strike him dead if he was indeed d son of God,Jesus must have said,no need,u'll die d next minute grin grin
What is this? Your evidence to show that any of this things happened beside your belief in the story is what? This is just like me narrating a story from the hathdith of how the prophet of islam divided the moon into two, no?. . . . .Am talking about reality and you are busy talking t me about stories that never happened. . . . . .Beside your belief what evidence do you have to show that the story is true?. . . . .

My brova,Get dat copy of d Bible out of your house,u don't need it.U atheists,r yet 2 come up with a compilation of "book" 2 discredit anything, all we have is theories dat even contradict themselves. . .I'll show u my Bible where is your own proof? grin grin
When have you ever shown or provided any proof or evidence to show that any of the major biblical claims are true?. . . . . .It seems you don't even know what you are talking about. . ,
