Ono

Appologies and admitting my mistakes is one of the easiest things I do and I thank God everyday for that virtue.

But I also do not think you honestly expect an appology from me as if you do I can only feel insulted about that.

Ono I now have a policy to ignore your post and I ask you to please ignore mine and ignore refering to me.

I have told a lot of folks on this forum that we live in a troubled world and I do not wish to come online to make enemies but have fun and make more friends, but Ono if how I will earn your respect is to accept or swallow your false believe about my tribe I am afraid to announce to you that I do not regret having you as both a virtual and real enemy. (I will never mince words neither will I disguise it to sound politically correct)

Thanks and I hope this is the last time you will hear from me.

This has nothing to do with law, the success of EFCC is down to the will and conviction of the man Mallam Nuhu Ribadu not Law. There are loads of legislation that are not given any meaning in this country because nobody is willing to see them true. Any attempt to tame Ribadu by any guise should be resisted if we know what we want. At least until the orientation of Nigerians change a little.

This is not about law, this is about humiliating the symbol of Anti-Corruption.

This move was either designed to weaken the EFCC (forget ICPC, what is that?) or intended to douse
the argument that Ribadu is on a political witch hunt for Obasanjo and co. In any case, if it turns out
that it was truly intended to de-fang the EFCC , then Yar Adua may as well kiss his legacy good bye as
corruption is the number 1 killer of Nigeria today - not Oil refineries (or the lack of it), unity government,
Niger Delta crisis, or whatever populist agent he may have up his sleeves. We are watching. . .

To the Obasanjo haters, so what do you have to say for yourself now? I am sure you will find a creative
way to link Obasanjo to this new twist. This country will kill person if man pikin no take time jare . . .
Such a very brilliant argument, however there is an obvious indicator to which of the extremes you pointed out above the presidency might be heading to.
The EFCC had concluded plans to prosecute Ibori this week, if in the next 1 month Ibori is not charged to court then it will be clearer where we are heading to.

Nigerians were yelling for independent EFCC but this move has simply made EFCC more dependent than it was.

OBJ's action is commendable, I'm proud of him.

To the poster that said, OBJ would not be able to write an exam successfully because He doens't speak plush english, What do you mean by that. The man was Nigeria's President for 8yrs and you think he doesn't have anything upstairs? That's simply preposterious.

The fact that he is with technical tools, means his course requires them. You know the educational syllabus have changed, and truly theology students might be doing maths-related subjects. I learnt business students now do phyiscs and chemistry at the University.

I think the Baba is sure one Nigerian that is not bothered about what people say.

Bravo OBJ.
Absolutely spot, I did philosophy and Logic, Nigeria People and Culture, Business Studies as an Undergraduate Mechanical Engineering Student in Nigeria. People who are asking why OBJ had Maths Set have no clue what they are talking about. Do you know if the exam is Objective where he might need Shading and cleaning, or are people suggesting that He can no longer use a ruler to rule the heading of a topic if it is theory exam.

So tell me why a student who needs his pencil, cleaner and ruler should not take the whole maths set to the exam hall but the bits he needshuh??

OBJ does not care what the Media think about him, the man has done his bit for this country and has moved on. Nigerians should learn to move on and leave the old man alone.

He is simply great.

Look at the picture above, is anybody Stark Naked?

Even in Carlifornia if you go out stark naked you will be arrested and your head examined to ensure if you are sane.

If there is anything those ladies are not doing in their dressing, it is not tieing Hijab.
PoliticsRe: 90 Nigerian Women Arrested For Indecent Dressing In Lagos. by McKren(m): 11:23am On Aug 04, 2007
Afam

I honestly don't know why you think it is wrong for Government to arrest ladies who put on trousers when you approve of Government having dresscodes for the citizens.
A country like Nigeria with complex demographics can only work if it appreciates its secular nature, what is an acceptable kind of dressing in my culture is unacceptable in others. I do understand that but people must respect the constitution which gives me the right to practise my own culture. People should not use their office to impose dresscodes that conform to their religion on others.

Besides that I did not say Nigeria is useless, I said events like this make you think it is hopeless. I do not regret saying it.
May be you might like to check the dictionary definition of hopelessness
not able to learn or act, perform, or work as desired; inadequate for the purpose: As a bridge player, you're hopeless.
So tell me why a country where its secular status as provided in constitution is not respected, a country where a Police officer decides to disrespect the fundamental human rights of her citizens as provided in the constitution but chooses to uphold his personal culture or religion, a country where some States practice State Religion against the provisions of the constitution, a country where when power moves North it begins to lean towards the Middles East or Arab league but when power moves south it leans towards democracy (no common focus),  etc. can not qualify as a hopeless country.

Nigeria will not work as much as we continue to celebrate its defects in our quest to sound politically correct.
PoliticsRe: 90 Nigerian Women Arrested For Indecent Dressing In Lagos. by McKren(m): 10:23am On Aug 04, 2007
There is more to this than dressing decent oh, some ladies where arrested for putting on trousers while some guys were arrested for braiding their hair.

Now is there anything indecent about that, I honestly think I dont want to live in a country where some Government official sits in his office to pontificate on what my wife should or should not wear.

This is one of those times one can not help but immagine how hopeless this country is.

Yes they are both Muslims

Southern Politicians especially Senators are all cowards, they dont want to put their political future on the line by saying anything that will not be accepted by some sections of the country, even though it is clear the position of the constitution on this matter.

I will like to see Patricia Etteh's reaction to this, if she does not do anything about this she should consider herself a failure to herself and women.
PoliticsRe: Lagos Girls Versus Governor Fashola by McKren(m): 7:51pm On Aug 03, 2007
I don't think there are a lot of women who will willfuly have sex in exchange for money, what responsible societies do is to tackle poverty which could lead any woman into sex trade not to punish the act itself. Because as much as Prostitution is morally unnacceptable, it is not yet a crime and thus police have no right to arrest those ladies when armed robbers are roaming the streets.

And right now, I have a feeling that the Lagos State police command is not acting any different from the Hisbah of Kano State and they have to be stopped. If Fashola does not stop the police commissioner then he is responsible and the public may have no choice than to take the law into their hands.

2007 Nigeria should not be going through this in the Nations commercial capital and I must tell you it is a big shame.

Nigeria is not Saudi Arabia.
PoliticsRe: Lagos Girls Versus Governor Fashola by McKren(m): 7:39pm On Aug 03, 2007
Well if the picture above is anything to go by, I have not seen anything wrong with how those girls dressed.

I honestly think Gov Fashola and his Police Commissioner have more serious things to worry about than the dimensions of ladies clothes and how young boys make their hair.

Nigeria's first peace keeping started in Congo with General Olusegun Obasanjo leading it
Sorry that is not very accurate as even during 1960's Gen Jonson Thomas Aguiyi-Ironsi then a Lt. Col led a UN peace keeping force in the Congo. He was even reknowned to have flown a chopper into enemy rebel camp to negotiate the release of European hostages himself.

History has it that he was first African UN Force commander.

PoliticsRe: The VP - Goodluck Jonathan - Is Corrupt by McKren(m): 10:15am On Aug 02, 2007
Fifth Schedule of the constitution
11. (1) Subject to the provisions of this Constitution, every public officer shall within three months after the coming into force of this Code of Conduct or immediately after taking office and thereafter -

(a) at the end of every four years; and

(b) at the end of his term of office, submit to the Code of Conduct Bureau a written declaration of all his properties, assets, and liabilities and those of his unmarried children under the age of eighteen years.

(2) Any statement in such declaration that is found to be false by any authority or person authorised in that behalf to verify it shall be deemed to be a breach of this Code.

(3) Any property or assets acquired by a public officer after any declaration required under this Constitution and which is not fairly attributable to income, gift, or loan approved by this Code shall be deemed to have been acquired in breach of this Code unless the contrary is proved.
It is so shameful how politicians exploit gaps in our constitution.

Yes the constitution says a written declaration should be submitted, while I agree he has submitted details of his assets to Code of conduct Bureau I don't think he has declared his assets.

To declare means "to announce" or "to proclaim" or "to make public". He has not done any of these.
So Jonathan Goodluck should kindly declare his assets.

What is the essence of asset declaration if not for public scrutiny. Jonathan was not forced into public life, he has a choice of private life by simply resigning.

We are at a stage where we want to move forward by giving more meaning to the constitution.

If a people are agrieved and think they have no future in a certain country you have to give them a reason to stay economically, politically and otherwise through equity and fairness  not militarily or any kind of force as that is undemocratic and against the principles of justice.

Afterall Sebia and Montenegro recently voted to live together or part ways.
PoliticsRe: MASSOB Women Threaten To Curse Nigerian Men Over Ralph Uwazirike by McKren(m): 3:38pm On Aug 01, 2007
Let us talk about what stands in court.

In Law court references are made to previous court verdicts in determining later court verdicts.

While it is so true that in a law court you can not make an argument that an accused and arrested Mr. A should not be prosecuted because another wanted Mr. B (for the same offence) is still at large, it is not true to suggest that in determining the verdicts of arrested Mr. A & B which commited the same offence reference should not be made to the previous in determining the later.

Asari and Uwazurike were arrested for treason, fair enough. Different courts declined granting Asari bail and as soon as South-South Governors led by Jonathan went into meeting with Yaradua, he was granted bail by a court lower than the previous ones that have declined his bail on the grounds of National Security. Yet people claim Asari was not granted political freedom but legal freedom.

If it were a case of Uwazurike being arrested and Asari is not, some of these arguments you guys are making will make sense. But a situation where Asari, Uwazurike, Adams, Fashehun were all in custody, they release 3 and the fourth which out of hindsight could be argued as being the least violent is still in Prison custody raises a lot of question.

Like Lai Mohamed rightly pointed out, Government should find similar excuse to release Uwazurike.

Am gona be very honest with you, you might never be able to second-guess your boyfriend's intention and forums like this wont make it any easier.

What is of significance to couple A might practically amount to nothing to couple B.

But the fact that you are even suspicious of his intention means you are nervous, that sounds like the true good old sign of love
Hence my advice for you is play it cool, natural and keep loving your boyfriend.
