If you want to list Ministers, nobody said you should not list ministers. But you tell me how many Hausas have been governor of Lagos or Calabar while they were the Capital city of Nigeria. Forgive me if I'm wrong too but I don't know any.
Just saying this for the records not that I subscribe to the argument under which this thread was formed.

It looks like President Yaradua's dad was Minister of Lagos.
PoliticsRe: Alamieyeseigha To Regain Freedom On Aug 9 2007 by McKren(m): 3:42pm On Jul 27, 2007
2007 Nigeria is not 1999 Nigeria

People went to court defending their eligibility in last election, that did not happen in 1999.
PoliticsRe: Alamieyeseigha To Regain Freedom On Aug 9 2007 by McKren(m): 3:37pm On Jul 27, 2007
It is possible to fake the location of their imprisonment or any other part of the sentence.

But what nobody can fake is the fact that Alams is an ex-convict of corruption, he simply has no political future in this country.

That alone sets precedence.

Nigeria does not need Oprah's help, all we ask for is to show us some respect in her show.

Our thoughts, speeches and actions today determines our tomorrow. Our tomorrow may not be too different if we wallow in politics of selectivity and refuse to support those tough decisions that will guarantee a better tomorrow.

Yes a lot of people's past time is Igbo bashing, I have always risen in passionate defence for my tribe that I love so much. Defending the Igbo is one of those times I loose my sense of diplomacy and have no appologies for that.

But brother you are simply giving credibility to their actions by this thread, I ask you to withdraw it or ask seun to help you do so.

Whatch out for the selective spin doctors

they will ask why Alams was given 2 years and Tafa had just 6months, as if their cases was determined on the same day by the same judge.
PoliticsRe: 'All Nigerians Are Corrupt', Says Oprah Winfrey by McKren(m): 3:22pm On Jul 26, 2007
Nope the Nigerian Government will only be dignifying Oprah by reacting to what she says, she is a nobody.

Nigerians in US should ridicle her on the internet using what they know of her,

It could be anything
PoliticsRe: 'All Nigerians Are Corrupt', Says Oprah Winfrey by McKren(m): 2:57pm On Jul 26, 2007
Hardly does any month pass without Oprah talking about Nigeria, was she jilted by a Naija boy?

Boys in America should research if this is the case and publicise it so as to silence her.

You have not asked any question
PoliticsRe: A Sweet Wind Of Change Is Blowing In Nigeria! by McKren(m): 2:26pm On Jul 26, 2007
n-guage:
ask yourself this questions.
1. why did Turaki leave PDP
2. why did OBJ declare a state of emergency in JOS
3. Why did Kalu leave PDP.
The most important question is '' DID WE VOTE FOR UMARU? ''.
You have simply told everyone that you are not abrest with what happens in Nigeria

Saminu Turaki ochestrated the highest political mass movement in the world into PDP in the run up to last election, he sure claims to have funded 3rd term. So the question you are trying to ask or whatever you are insinuating is invalid.

OBJ declared a State of Emergency in Jos cause Dariye was tacitly supporting christains in the midst of the Religous crisis and thus OBJ needed to earn the trust of Muslims and to show he was on top of the situation, it was nothing personal or a PDP affair.

Orji left PDP to pursue his misguided Presidential ambition, after he lost the elections it is on record that his party was the first to agree in all terms with the PDP to form GNU.

So whatever you are insinuating does not make sense.
PoliticsRe: Agusto, Lagos Ministerial Nominee Not Confirmed By Senate by McKren(m): 1:49pm On Jul 26, 2007
The last time I checked the constitution has not made it illegitimate for a minister's son to school abroad, if that will be part of the next constitutional reform I will love it wholeheartedly.

But for now saying that a nominee who qualified legally and constitutionally is not allowed to go through because he told the Senators that their questions were so cheap is not laudible.

They swore to defend the constitution even against their personal wish, If the constitution has not disqualified Agusto then the Senators putting their convenience over constitution is against the ethics of being a lawmaker.

Trust me if you do a background search on some of the approved Ministers, you might be shocked to realise that some have other Nationalities or some have not done the compulsory NYSC. Our Senators did not do a thorough job to defend the constitution all they did was to stop a man who proved to know what the bussiness of Governance should be about.

Ou Senators should bury their heads in shame, for not being able to accept criticism.
PoliticsRe: Agusto, Lagos Ministerial Nominee Not Confirmed By Senate by McKren(m): 12:23pm On Jul 26, 2007
Yaradua must re-present Bode Agusto's name, democracy include telling people what they dont want to hear. Senators are simply hiding their medicrity behind arrogance.

If someone tells them their questions could be answered by an 8yr old, it simply means the questions are cheap and may be in future they should do some more background research so as to ask more credible questions.

If they can not say what section of the constitution disqualifies Agusto then they simply have no point, it is not their duty to determine whether a minister is humble or not, it is not even their duty to determine whether he distinguished himself in his previous job.
All they are required to do is whether he meets the constitutional requirements, which if he meets they must let him through whether they like his personality or not.

Our Senators are not democrats, they cant even take simple criticism.

Why is Rotimi Jacobs only EFCC lawyer?
Written by Bonaventure Melah
Wednesday, 25 July 2007
There is serious grumbling presently among senior legal practitioners in the country over what some of them have described as the dominance of Rotimi Jacobs over all the cases involving past state governors who are facing corruption and money laundering charges at the instance of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). They are even alleging that there must have been a shady deal between the EFCC and the legal luminary that some benefactors of the lawyer or the Commission may be benefiting from.
According to one of the senior lawyers who spoke to this reporter, the EFCC or Rotimi Jacobs should explain why he alone have been the lead counsel to the Commission on almost all the cases that the EFCC has taken to court so far, involving former governors. The lawyer who pleaded not to be mentioned described as very unusual and smacks of corruption itself, that only one lawyer is leading EFCC counsels in all the cases the Commission has taken to court.

To make matters worse, the lawyer said that Rotimi Jacobs is not yet a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and questioned what qualified him for that special contract when according to him, there are better lawyers in the country who can equally play the role of lead counsel in some of the cases. He said, “For God’s sake, I ask what is so special in Rotimi Jacobs that he is always in the courts as lead counsel. Is this not another corrupt practice?” Can you imagine? Every time I come to the court over these EFCC cases this man introduces himself as lead counsel, I ask, is he the only lawyer in Nigeria?”

The man who said that he is putting finishing touches to a petition he is sending to the EFCC and other relevant authorities over the matter said that there is no reason anybody can give to justify the preferential treatment being given to Rotimi Jacobs by the EFCC adding that the issue bothers on some deals that may not be transparent which he said cast aspersion on the integrity of the crime fighting Commission.

So tell me why having the same lead counsel on similar cases amount to corruption.

Please brother think before you post, we dont do blind loyalty in the east.

He is infact in recent times the new voice of the average igbo man with a strong political future
I find that as an insult to who we are, to put it short need I remind you that Kalu was not the Governor of Adamawa he was the Governor of Abia, an Igbo State, his State of Origin. He failed his people, God knows how such a person will translate into new voice of the people he stole from.

May be he is for you and your household but surely not for us.

I also thought your argument was weak, from the management dictum to your supposed new excuse for corruption did not hold water with me.

I did not want to reply your post but you having to scold someone means you think you were making a point, but I thought you were'nt. will tell you later why.
PoliticsRe: Agusto, Lagos Ministerial Nominee Not Confirmed By Senate by McKren(m): 2:09am On Jul 25, 2007
People should forget blame game and weep for this nation.

Bode Agusto was simply victimized for being brilliant at the screening. May be he will not subscribe to chop-I-chop.

This country is not a very serious Nation.

But no kidding why will Senators simply disqualify a ministerial nominee for undisclosed reasons. They must justify their actions in accordance with the constitution otherwise President Yar'adua should simply resend Bode Agusto's name to Senate.

I am afraid that Yar Adua is about to commit his first major blunder if he truly subscribes to this. In about a year,
these NNPC jokers will clean out and he will be left looking like a fool. I am still waiting on the Niger Delta master
development blueprint, NEPA state of emergency declaration. We will see.
Well having a National Petroleum Corporation works in countries like Venezuela, Iran and Saudi Arabia.
But for me I dont subscribe to the idea, though I am not suprised he chose such policy cause he is very left wing.
PoliticsRe: A Big No To United States Of Africa. by McKren(m): 12:48pm On Jul 24, 2007
Forget about Europe and USSR, when large organisations are failing you break them down into functional units and try to resolve their problems individually. What is the rationale for assembly failing units that have not beeen able to manage their internal differences.

From a Nigerian point of view, a United Africa is not in our best interest.

Yes we can sign treaties to encourage trade between African Nations, we can sign treaties that will compel developed Nations and industries sourcing its raw materials in Africa to establish factories in Africa or such materials will be sold at higher costs, we can sign treaties that will strengthen the AU force towards peacekeeping missions and bolden them to make decisive decisions like going into Sudan without the permission of Umar El-Bashir but on an African mandate (i.e. if necessary).

But talking about having one economy, one army, one sovereignty is pointless and Nigeria should never support it.
