Interesting! I don't know how to comment on this. Have u read the book 'The Biafra Story' by Fredrick Forsythe? I found it quite intriguingAt the begining of tis thread Angel101 made the above comment, to be honest I did not know about Fredrick Forsythe but right now I have ordered his book from Amazon. The fact that BBC sacked their own staff for telling the truth goes on to justify some of the things we know. I urge people to at least look up this name in wikipedia. Denex if all you want to believe is Ojukwu was all about his connection to Total and France, I should also expect you should fairly believe that Gowon was all about Shell and Britain. |
Big B1:Man this is not about me and how I feel, it is about the Nigeria I will leave for my kids when I die. Our fathers failed we can not fail our Children. The bad roads, poor Schools, unemployment must not continue while a privelege few continue to be world class billionaires at the expense of others. That is what this is about. |
This news only appeared in the Sun, Orji Kalu's newspaper. What else do you expect Trust me even if it happened they are a few rented crowd, true sons of Abia who traverse the death traps in the name of roads in Aba will not match on the same road to protest for anyone. How did they even protest? did they have their trousers folded to avoid being wet by erosion. I think say Orji been dey make gra-gra for Ribadu, May 29 don pass him they hope make the same people wey him loot their money protest his release. Only a misguided bunch can engage on such venture. |
Iyke-D:SMASHINGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT CAN NOT BE MORE EMPHATIC THAN THAT. |
those who also understand politics understand the politics behind your call for OBJ to step aside. when OBJ went to jamaica for holiday, IBB began fantasizing being Godfather and calling the shuts from Mina. The return of OBJ has thrown spanner in that wheel, that is what your campaign is about. |
Big B1:Like the evidence you have provided and prosecuted those who converted 20,000 naira to billions. Within split seconds you have justified Angel for saying you believe in double standards!!! Man your spin no longer works!!!!!! |

Ono You directly have my appologies if only you realise that we are partners in wishing a better tomorrow for southerners and Nigerians. Stop hating the Igbos, we have oil too and their is no way we will chase yours. Appologies man but grow up that is all I ask of you. |
ono:Great he is honest enough to admit his fathers sold his birthright, mine stood for my right, in case you don't know the answer to the question when you go home ask someone who should be more informed to advice you who should be ashamed of their past. If we were'nt living in a more civilized and global world the thieves you are arming to kidnap people for ransom would have been crushed like the thieves they are. You have no shame that is why you come here to type trash. My type can not be Nigerian President, who says am interested ![]() ?? What will I do with it ?? If that is your dream for not learning from the failures of your fathers it is not mine. I believe in equity and fairness not cowardice. When increment in derivation was debated in the NASS, the South-East senators where the closest allies to those of South-South, when Onshore-offshore dichotomy was debated it was same, in the run up to the last election the likes of Iwuanyawu and loads of South-East politicians were front line supporters of South-South Presidency yet you are not satisfied. Your pass times is to abuse the same people who support your course regardless of betrayals from your forefathers. You talk crap about oil, we are self sufficient. We have oil and loads of other resources to depend on. You will plot and blackmail the Igbos for another 47years yet you will not achieve anything. Shameless fool, your heroes have turned from armed robbers to peadophiles yet you come here to talk. They kidnap even their own toddlers when they lack money. Who knows a better definition of greed and desperation. |
I hope Ayman Al-Zawahiri, Alqaeda's chief spin doctor or propaganda master is not begining to have new converts in Nairaland. |
Ono Someone thinks you are a bad student of history, I dont think so. I think you are plane misguided and stupid. Sometimes I wonder if you are a 5 year old kid. Some people gave Your forefathers other people's properties which they aquired through hard work in exchange for your so-called birthright (oil). 47years latter you dont control your oil, you have sold most of those properties out of hunger, yet you have no peace in your hometown. Instead of regretting your forefathers cowardice and mortgaging your future just for peanuts which accounts for the crisis in your region today you come here typing loads of rubbish. If Nigeria decides to have a debate today for local control of resources in the NASS, the Igbo senators will be the first to vote for it. I think you should be ashamed of yourself that 47years after your fathers betrayed you, you are betraying yourself. |
@debosky let them use third term, 4th term or even Obasanjo's kid's wedding as their excuse for misappropriating funds, I don't careYou said it all, sponsoring third term which is not part of what the monthly state allocation was designed for is in itself misappropriation of fund and abuse of office. That goes on the buttress EFCC arguments that Turaki misused Government funds. Turaki can on his own provide evidence against OBJ to innitiate another court proceedings against him. If he has facts he should present them to court not Newspaper except he is looking to just blackmail someone else in the hope to stall his trial. |
FBS:my brother dont blame the newspaper, blame Nigerians for not standing up for their future. 80% of the media is owned by the same politicians facing probe what do you expect. Now Saminu Turaki thinks he spent part of his loot on 3rd term. If that is exactly what he did why not take your evidence to court, why go to the media. Their can only be one reason to go to the media, to blackmail and stall the corruption war. Orji Kalu thinks he is being persecuted because he did not support third term, Saminu Turaki says he supported it and sponsored it yet he is probed. Is'nt it about time the naive amongst us begin to reason that may be EFCC is doing what is right for this country ![]() ![]() ?? |
BigB1 / Degoat You can not fool me, the harder you try the more convinced I am that you are one and the same person. At th appropriate time I will post my proof here. Cheers! Whatever diversionary tactics you choose will not erace the contents of my earlier post. Engaging you in senseless debates and letting you repeat yourself everytime repeating things that don't comform to common sense is hardly what I have time for these days. I know what you beleive in and I understand how useless it is to try to change it especially if you make fortunes from them. ON THE ISSUE OF SELECTIVITY |
Degoat May be this is the right time to tell you this, over time I have seen you come out of the blues to defend BigB1 using his choice of words and a part of me feels degoat is just a proxy name used by BigB1 to unnecesarily prove that someone shares his views. BigB1 or Degoat or whatever hundreds of names you choose to adopt, no matter the number of times you choose to duplicate your posts it will not take out what generality of Nigerians think. |
ON THE ISSUE OF SELECTIVITY For the records, the act setting up the EFCC requires the organisation to investigate cases of Economic and Financial Fraud and then charge the accused to court (where facts have been established) for prosecution in accordance with the law. Their modus operandi shows that investigations are triggered by petition. It is not in any part of their job description to take inventory of who the friends/enemies of the President are or who is in PDP or Opposition. So expecting the EFCC to find a balance between those who we consider as friends or enemies of the President simply does not make sense. Good a thing we have a Judicial system that have seen the Goverment loose cases and thus we can say they are fair. Hence anybody who thinks there is someone who should be probed that has not been probed must have facts which the EFCC does not have, it is their duty to take the person in question to court or remain silent and allow EFCC to do their job. It is that simple. |
Big B1:Engaging you in senseless debates and letting you repeat yourself everytime repeating things that dont comform to common sense is hardly what I have time for these days. I know what you beleive in and I understand how useless it is to try to change it especially if you make fortunes from them. But the point is, if you honestly care about what our country is and what our country should be or might be, you will understand that the call for perfection should be chanelled against state executives (who recieve billions of allocations monthly yet our roads, schools, hospitals, energy are in sorry state) not the corruption watchdog. Your talk about selectivity and perfection is diversionary and you must be ashamed of yourself. BigB1 I dont know who you are and I dont care to but am very convinced that you benefit a lot from the pariah state that Nigeria was and will continue to be if drastic steps are not taken. Look am not one of those naive fellows who have no clue how politics and the bussiness of Governance works. I am not one of those who freelance talking about politics without getting to the nitty gritty of the position of the law on issues. People come here out of frustration/naivity and start abusing Ribadu. The first group are frustrated because Ribadu has thrown a spanner on their money making wheel, the second group are outrightly being naive and they are the ones I care about. Because this group of people do not benefit from the system but have been brainwashed into hating OBJ and thus any person doing his constitutional job may easily be blackmailed as being OBJ's loyalist expecially if his line of duty threatens the interest of the hawks. For the records, the hawks never wanted the war against corruption fought. But they obviously can not come openly to attack the policy itself hence they choose to attack the process thus the word selectivity and perfection as BigB1 will have it. The only unselective thing Ribadu would have done in the last administration is to probe OBJ, when he does that he becomes an immediate prey on the hands of NASS most of whose members had scores to settle with the President. When the President OBJ is removed, Atiku would have taken over and trust me one of his first policies would have been to silence the EFCC. THAT WILL SIMPLY BRING CORRUPTION WAR TO AN ABRUPT END. How difficult is this to understand ![]() ?BigB1 if there is any integrity in you, you will agree that in a country like Nigeria where poverty reins what we should be calling for is perfection on the part of those who manage our resources not those who are trying to keep the executives on their toes. BigB1 I dont know what you are benefiting from the sorry state of our country but the fact remains that if the corruption in our system continues and people get disillusioned Nigeria is at risk of becoming another congo. It does not matter what part of the world you and I live, our Immigration Status will not even matter because it will not take away the psycological fact that we will be refugees who can not show our children their ancestral herittage. |
It is interesting that those who are quoting Sunnews and what US thinks about April elections are the same people who on this same Nairaland campaigned vigorously after the election that we should bury the hatchet and accept Yaradua. They did that because they thought they had secured a deal with Yaradua not to probe or fight the corrupt. It looks like Yaradua has reneged on the deal and they have renewed their campaign of Illegitimate elections. You know what Election everywhere in the world always have flaws and establishing flaws during the election will not prove anything. They can only achieve anything by proving that their candidate was more popular at the polls and would have won the election. This idea of using illegitimacy to coerce the President into not doing his job is outdated and has failed. |
Some of us are shameless Even when it is obvious that their media campaign of calumny is not working they keep talking trash. These Governors should stop sponsoring such people and start compiling money they will return to the EFCC. |
people should stop politicizing issues like this, if he led his state honestly he would have improved the lives of Abians and no one would have been chasing him arround. It is as simple as that. He should go to jail if found guilty so that others will learn to do the right thing and thus not need to be friends with the Presidency to stay safe. Chidicris I thought you were smarter than that, a man will loot his people dry when called to account for his stewardship the same people he looted will come out shouting selective justice. Have you been to Abia recently? Look at your reason for firing Ribadu, so that the new administration will have what you call their own new joker. Ribadu is going no where. |
Tell that to those who dont know what you stand for. |
BigB1 Who between us was building castles in air ![]() ![]() ![]() ??.50 days was not too long a time to compile dossiers on any case. Nigerian ex-governors are chargedhttp://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/6897668.stm I hope you will be man enough to admit that you goooooooooofffffffeeeeeeddd!!!!!!!!. Sorry your plot and media calumny failed woefully. |

sorry for my earlier post I meant to say "while it might be too harsh , " |
Well may be the man who started the thread should tell us if he meant fraud by the true sense of the word or advanced fee fraud ?? (419).I for once will do anything to defend Nigerian interest to a non-Nigerian. But amongst Nigerians we must face the fact. The solution to any problem starts from recognition of need, this is not about patrotism it is about knowing what aspects of our lives we must drop if we must get anywhere as a Nation. While it might be too harsh to say the average Nigerian is fraudulent, there is hardly any Nigerian at the age of at least 30 who will say he has never gained any advantage in life in a dishonest way. |
May be we can only change our country and change who we are when we actually understand who we are. The answer to this question in my view depends on how we want to define fraud. the dictionary defines being fraud as fraud /frɔd/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[frawd] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA PronunciationIn a country where most parents will lie about their children's date of birth to get them into school on time, most students copied at either secondary or high school, most people depend on who they know to get into work not merit, most people got contracts not because they are qualified to handle such contracts but because they are connected, most banks give loans to freinds without collateral, a country where queue is meant for only those who have no voice. Most Nigerian students who go abroad to study signing an undertaken that they will be home on completing their studies when they know they have no plans to do that. All the above amount to fraud, their can hardly be any Nigerian who is free of all these. While the truth is that our system leaves us less choice on dos and donts. It is important to get our records straight. However the choice of how we see ourselves is up to every individual. |
We need to get it clearly how the EFCC or such organisations operate. Their duty is to investigate cases of financial crimes and charge the accused to court if credible evidence is found against them. Their investigation is initiated by petition and in the cause of investigation it is necessary to hear the arguments from the accused person. Thus the accused is either invited or arrested depending on the nature of the offence and the individual's criminal records and whether he will honour the invitation or see that as a tip-off to elope. The ex-governors were able to secure respect during investigations from President Yaradua on the grounds that they will not flee but co-operate with the EFCC. After due questioning they were let go (if stories in the media were right, they surrendered their travel documents). So investigations are ongoing. Orji Kalu and Saminu Turaki on the other hand refused to honour the invitations thus leaving EFCC no choice but to arrest them. Orji even went as far as securing a court order to prevent arrest, that is simply an attempt to re-write the constitution as our constitution only grants immunity to Presidents and Governors not "EX". Thus that court order simply does not stand because it is inconsistent with the laws of the land, besides that EFCC may have gotten another order nullifying that of Kalu from a higher court. However note that, the fact that they are being arrested does not mean their case is being taken more seriously. They are only being forced to come forward for questioning since others have been questioned. Their future in this corruption investigation is still same as those of other Governors. These two governors may even go home before monday. |

This guy is definitely worth more than this. He has simply gone to acquire asset declaration (certificate of good character) since their claims can not be verified. Remember Ribadu accused him of "looting without a third party and that he was the first Governor to approach him with bribe inspite of his noise about Sharia". Well why should I doubt him, he is meant to be eulogised for following suite. |
Dis guy QuoteSorry but not sure how accurate that is, section 147 of the constitution gives the President the right to appoint his Ministers provided it is done in respect to Federal Character and the person in question is qualified to contest House of Reps (which basically translates into him being over 30 years/ a citizen of Nigeria/ Not a lunatic etc ) So Yaradua did not need to delegate his appointment duties to Governors all he needs to do was to ensure every state is represented in his cabinet. im sure he didnt make the list himself Gordon Brown's cabinet is made up of Labour members, yaraduas cabinet will mainly be members of FeeDeeFee; its somewhat inevitable that they'll be recyled old imcompetent money hungry politicians.Sorry Labour did not choose Browns cabinet, The Prime Minister of Britain on assumption of office recieves full authority from the queen to form a Government. While consultaions are made, the final call is the Prime Minister's that is why Blair loyalists like John Reid, Magarett Becket and Patricia Hewitt had to resign. Let it not be that am once again being harsh or impatient with the new President, but what makes me sick is the illusion that as President of Nigeria you will please everybody. If you are able to please everyone then know that you have simply avoided the tough decisions that will move the country forward. So the whole talk of Listening President, reconcilation, Government of National Unity simply makes me sick. He should get on with the job and stop wasting time. |
Iyke-D:Do not expect Ribadu to be popular, the children of looting politicians and Yahoo boys will obviously not like him |
Alongside the freedom of information bill (FOI), a bill should also be enacted to ensure that any editor who releases concoction of lies to missinform the public should be prosecuted. PM News is simply getting reckless. |
