Oladoyinipede: please value your life and don't go to a crisis ridden area like Jos.if some areas in Jos are safe, won't you need to work,to visit places,to feel free and have peace of mind.
Osogbo is a very peaceful place to live..the cost of living here i.e feeding, housing and transportation here is relatively cheap... transportation fare within Osogbo no dey pass #50 at worse #80.
crime rate here is at the lowest, there is nothing like religious crisis and the night life too is not bad if you know your way. Most importantly there is peace, alot of it actually.... Wonderful. I will put Oshogbo on my radar then. I have been thinking of a city to relocate to lately. I have always thought of the first security of the place (crime rate), power supply, affordable housing. So, in essence, will you truly recommend Oshogbo for someone like me as per my mentioned concerns? |

Oladoyinipede: if what you say is correct then Osogbo is cheaper by far..a 2 bedroom self contain's average cost here is about #150k and electricity here, especially in some areas like okefia, oshogram, etc,is supplied for as much as 18-20hrs. Tell me about their houses there. Hope they have modern houses with P.O.P not those old houses with ceilings o. |

ocelot2006: I respectfully disagree with the OP...at least to some extent. I'll advise anyone, irrespective of background, to study a professional course that will enable them stand on their own when the jobs are not there. In my opinion, Medicine & Surgery, Pharmacy, Accountancy, Engineering, Computer Science, and Law are very good choices. I'll even go on to add the Agricultural Sciences.
With respect to the OP's point on Engineering, he's absolutely right though about Electrical & Electronics + Computer Engineering. Information Tech and Communication is key now. Equally throw in IoT, Electric Vehicles, Autonomous systems, Artificial Intelligence, SMART grids and cities. Add to that microelectronics is making a MAJOR come back with the present shortage of chips globally and the ongoing battle for supremacy between east and west. EE engineering, Compt Engineering, and COMPUTER SCIENCE will play major roles now and into the future. As for Petroleum Engineering, frankly I think the course is a dead one, especially when countries are now dumping fossile fuel for other forms of energy (solar, geothermal, wind, etc). You only have to look at the trend now globally with IOCs selling off their assets, plus the job cuts. But I respectfully disagree on Civil and Mechanical Engineering as they both remain OVER-RELEVANT, especially with the dearth of infrastructure in the country (roads, ports, airports, bridges, power dams, housing, etc), and the urgent need to provide these. I encourage young ones to delve into these courses, irrespective of their economic backgrounds as they will definitely pay off. Just avoid courses like Chemical Engineering, Textile, Materials and Metallurgical, or any course that restricts you. Nice one but remove Chemical Engineering. That's a very broad profession. They fit in all industries. Don't be deceived by the name Chemical. They don't handle chemicals as most people reason, going by the name. But they design and control processes for industries. All industries have processes. They are the ones that will tell you how to improve systems performances to maximize profit for the firm. It's not a restrictive profession, far from it. They fit in all industries being construction, manufacturing, cosmetic, food, pharmaceutical, production industries and so on. A chemical engineer is also responsible for making estimations for firms that want to embark on any projects (cost estimations) from the start of the project to the completion and all what is involved. They also fit into procurement sector. You need a chemical engineer for the procurement of equipments for the establishment of any firm. Without a chemical Engineer, many things will go wrong in an establishment. Lots of persons have the notion that Chemical engineers deal with just chemicals. Far from it.Chemical engineers typically do the following: •Conduct research to develop new and improved manufacturing processes • Establish safety procedures for those working with dangerous chemicals • Develop processes for separating components of liquids and gases, or for generating electrical currents, by using controlled chemical processes • Design and plan the layout of equipment •Conduct tests and monitor the performance of processes throughout production• Troubleshoot problems with manufacturing processes • Evaluate equipment and processes to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations • Estimate production costs for management |

get my fact right! physics is not a profession while engr is. never compare the two in terms of employment opportunity. True fact! No one should compare a professional course to a non professional course. There is big difference. |

The only outdated Engineering course I can think of right now is Petroleum Engineering, others are still very relevant.
Funny enough, EEE is very competitive. |

wisestman: There is no issue as far as I'm concerned. 2 out of 3 is very fine. That's how I have been using my names. Only 2 almost all the times, use the 3rd one which is my middle name only rarely. Op, he is right. He said it all. I have 3 names. But I only use 2. I meant, my surname and first name. All my documents bear just those 2 names. I only answer my middle name but it's not on my documents. As far as two of the name correspond to what's on your documents, you have no issue. Modified: But you can swear an affidavit if you think it will cause any issue. That's why I have always sticked to my 2 names to avoid these type of things. Any time I am filling any form, it is just those two names I use. I don't fill my middle name. I just answer my middle name only. Adiob200 |

OP don't listen to people telling you, age is not on your side. People relocate even at 40. Some persons you see today, got wrong information that made them gave up on their plans even without trying.
People will always discourage you with different wrong information. If you yourself don't plan things out solely and go on to listen to every naysayer, you will absolutely be discouraged and give up your plans.
Try and make a little research on your own and plot your map well. While doing that, avoid all forms of discouraging words from people who always believe you can invest that money and make billions in Nigeria. |

Goldbw122: The same way men spend for alcohol and drugs.. that is why it is difficult for them to save, you are right. Ride on. Exactly. Their are many things men should cut down on to be able to save. If they can identify those things and moderate them or stop them, they will be able to save. Once I know something is becoming a habit that always suck money from my pocket, I stop it instantly before it becomes an addiction. |

Skyfornia: You are a bad spender...two things that gulp money in Lagos are transportation fare and rent...if you are not paying rent then half of your problems is solved. With 80k salary as a single guy, who is not paying rent in Lagos, you supposed save atleast 40k every month. Womanising is one thing that is draining most guys pockets. No self control. With the rate of ladies doing runs these days and men that can't control their anacondas, it's quite hard for most to save. If they tell you how much men spend carrying girls up and down, your mouth will be wide opened. Imagine carrying one girl today, and tomorrow carrying another one. Next day same thing. It becomes an addiction. Most won't admit this. But that's the true reality of most men/guys. They spend everything on carrying girls. In this era, every man needs to discipline himself if not, they will work for years and nothing to show for it. My advice to young guys aspiring to have a meaningful saving is they should be wary of the type of girls they date. Dating a materialistic lady will drain a guy. Dating a girl that has no money management skill can wreck a guy. And those running after runs girls should do it with common sense. All the like of hook up and the rest. While I won't condemn it, but as a guy, it should be done with moderation. Meeting up once a while. It shouldn't be regularly. Some guys hookup 4 times a week. And they spend nothing less than 10-15k in every meeting. That's bad for a guy finance. Guys should wise up. |

Romance › Re: Single People How Do You Cope With Being Alone by Mcslize: 7:24pm On Aug 07, 2021 |
I stay alone and I have never been lonely. Maybe it's because I love my own space. I really don't like that clinginess nature. That's why I find it suffocating when in a relationship. My longest relationship I have had so far lasted 1 and half years.
If I marry today, this is one aspect of me I will like my partner to understand. There are times when I just love being on my own.
I might adjust after I settle down though. But I will still let my partner to give me little space to meditate. Yes of course, I will spend enough time with my partner, but I will still love to have my special room met for only me where I can go to and spend time alone, even if it is 2 to 3 hours.
It's just one's nature.
The reason why you feeling so lonely is because you tied your happiness and good time with spending time with people. Such that, if you don't see people around you, you feel lonely.
But you just have to learn how to find joy in being alone most times. With time, you will grow to get used to yourself.
It's just a mindset. |
