TheSoothSayer: The fact is habitual/addictive use of your 'cool earphone can lead to ear challenges in future.
Even myself gave more excuses than you in the past when I was told; but no problems, do what you feel is right for you.
The beauty of forums such as nairaland.com is that years later, a simple Google search can still lead anyone to my post. If only one person learns, I'm satisfied.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend brother
I'm almost sounding like a broken record at this point, lemme give it one last go and I'll let it rest. MAKING USE OF EARPHONES AT MODERATE VOLUMES AND NOT FOR EXTENDED PERIODS POSES NO HARM TO YOUR HEARING. The issue is the decibels at which a user listens to things. Strictly speaking, it is loud sounds played through earphones or headphones that damage hearing.
Check out some of these studies on the use of personal music players (PMPs) on hearing loss. Particularly pay attention to the results and conclusions.
TheSoothSayer: I love how civil you were in your reply. I have been different in ear / over the ear audio devices for more than a decade now. I had a close shave with deafness in December.
Forget generator and other external noise. I'm talking about having it directly in your ear for hours on end, there are limitations to volume, but how many of us really pay attention to that? Music/bass is sweetest at higher volumes; even at lower volumes, what about infection?
How many of us bother to disinfect our devices?
Using earpiece/headphones damages ear hair cells, which is irreversible.
A lot of us now hear less than we did when we were kids. I dare you to go to an audiologist for an ear test to check your ears
We all lose our hearing as we age, earphone or not. I still prefer my cool earphone to a loud sound generating device.
TheSoothSayer: I know this won't go well with a lot of people, especially audio system vendors. Anyway, I promised to come here and say this. Using earphones, headsets, earbuds (anything that plays directly to your ears sha) can damage your ears. It starts with tinnitus (ringing in one ear or both ears) that NEVER goes away, and gets worse with time. Ear infections are also a thing. In extreme cases can also lead to complete deafness.
Imagine using hearing aids at the age of 40, that's where you're headed to now with your constant use of headsets.
Get a quality Bluetooth speaker with good sound production if you're an audiophile like me.
You have been warned.
Every earphone user should know to use it at reasonable sound level. If you listen to good sound at reasonable volume, I highly doubt you'll ever develop any hearing defect.
I once had a tinnitus scare (some years ago) after a one time prolonged exposure to a loud generator.
Most Nigerians are constantly exposed to very loud noise (eg those street music vendors, our normal loud street market vendors, very loud horn-riddled traffic, obnoxiously loud generators, etc) and run more risk of hearing damage than any average earbud/earphone user.
FYI: not an earbud/earphone vendor, I just want to add to this conversation.
1. lights - About 6hours during the night. (232W total but it would probably be about a third of this over the course of the day) 2. Four ceiling fans - 2 running from 6pm-6am (300W total for the 4 fans) 3. TV with decoder - 7pm-11pm (85W) 4. Refrigerator - 7am-7pm (200W) 5. Chest freezer 7am-7pm (110W) 6. Water pump - 1 hour during the day (1.5hp) 7. Possibly an AC in the future - 6pm -11pm (Considering a 1 or 1.5hp system)
Just wanted to add something here, you can significantly reduce your energy need by running the freezer and fridge from 10am to 3pm (5 hours). A good freezer would've done a lot of cooling in this five hours.
ceaser: I can't argue otherwise. I regretted my investment in one drone like that. The camera was even wack and then it keeps getting out of balance when flying.
I don dash am to the kids to use as toy. Nonsense manufacturer.
Yeah, hard to see a good cheap/decent drone that is not by DJI that performs well enough to be worth the cost that it's been sold
Nadingo: But would you advise someone to buy the ones you call toyish drones just to use and learn how to fly it before purchasing a DJI? What affordable but quality DJI can one buy here in Nigeria that one won't regret? Thanks.
Hard to see that type of drone for sale in Nigeria
You just have to order it. I saw a lot of vendors selling this E99 drone (see attached Jumia screenshot)
But after watching this YouTube video, I arrived at the same conclusion with the YouTuber
But if you don't mind any of these that happened in the video, you can always risk it and get one.
I learnt to fly with DJI, it's easy, but you can always buy all these cheaper types with all kinds of quirks: laggy video, difficult to control, bad video and picture quality, very poor flight time etc to learn to fly with.
I understand it may be pretty scary to start flying with with a higher end drone, just go to a very open space (never fly under a tree or powerline as a beginner) and do your thing.
As for DJI to buy in Nigeria, check Jiji, you can either buy a DJI Spark, or DJI Mini (1,2 or 3).
Fieryblaze: People of God please I am about to make order for a drone of $200 on Aliexpress and I need it delivered in 3 weeks max, please this Chinese holiday thing will it affect delivery? This ₦760/$ no easy, please advice
If it's not DJI I'll recommend you don't buy it. It'll be a waste of hard earned money to buy the subpar drone that is almost toylike at such a price.
Hybrid600: It MAY just be a new policy that has been implemented. Same for a distributor shop I get things from, they just recently changed policies in regards to bulk purchases and no more one one single purchase.
My friend made a purchase this week. Unless the change was from today.
zacwale: High 4 my side e cheap... Because few company in China send phones and laptop on time... Dis one I am using na 7-14dayz you will get your goods

What's the name of this logistics company?
You buy laptops in China? Thought it's only phones people buy.
It's just a matter of days, UBA and STANBIC will also stop their naira account from $ transaction. This election, vote like your life depends on it because it DOES.
