Ngwakwe:What are you saying? See how person dey craze? You really are trying to say several deceptive things here, but didnt know how to pull it off, so please, re-read the highlighted parts and re-write something more grown-up ode. |
I agree with you. Each region seems to be mobilizing for 2015, but let us wait to see the dust from the current political election settles. All this talk of 2015 is kind of premature and we should be focusing on 2011. Plus, in politics, 1 year can be an eternity, not to mention 4 years. That is why I agree with this message and we definitely need to change our topics instead of worrying about 2015.
LOL, wow you finally wrote something reasonable for a change. Maybe mother's day was great for you. Anyway, I agree, afterall, the victors in the last election have yet to be sworn in or trully scrutinized and yet the typical "Our turn 2015", has begun. Noisemakers. How about dealing with the last 4 years, that is, those who looted and telling the new crop that the people will persecute you here or even in Toronto. |
THE AMAKA:Shout Out to the good people of Imo State for sending the Warrant t/chief back to Ota Farm in Ogun State, where he can drink garri with OBJ. Remember what OBJ said, "promises made, promises kept". |
You dey mind them? What has the Yoruba gained from Obasanjo or Bankole?. What has the hausa gained from Yaradua or the former speaker?. What has the Igbo gained from Nanamani or the fat pig who was senate president[Pius something]?.
Can you compare the HOS with that of Speaker or Senate Pres? I agree that Legislative Positions are not all that important (and merely serve as symbolic importance--"Hey Look, the Speaker is from my LGA" ![]() I disagree with comparing them to the Presidency |
Sounds like this Speaker and Senate President shyt is all distracting. Like someone alreay said, what will Speaker of the House do for Yoruba people? Is the Speaker a speaker of Oyo State or the National Assembly? Is the Speaker not the first among equals? When Bankole was speaker for 4 years (when his counterparts have 2 year terms in yankee), what did he do to make himself the best Speaker Africa had seen? What did he do for the South, or the Western parts, or even his home state? Did he bring constant electricity or modern airport equipment or improve the universities? What did his collegues in the House say about him? Well, the people in his zone said hell no, we want ACN, and booted him out. You'll find that many instances, those areas that are working well in the country are run not by Federal initiative, but credible local leadership (i.e. Fashola, Chime, Imo Airport completion, ct.) |
BTW, what ever happened to Enugu Int'l airport? Even the one in Port Harcourt with the so-called renovations? |
There's no way Bankole will triumph, and in fact, I'm sure its PDP cry babies that are pushing him into further disgrace. As for OBJ's daughter, this will begin the second regional war of PDP vs. ACN |
Nothing has been confirmed as of yet. It's all gist from one corner to the next. In real democracies, it's rare for the ruling party to seed top legislative positions to the opposition, and instead, cabinet positions and their likes are often used. Furthermore, this story is typical of Naija journalism-subtle bias towards certain groups. Why would the nameless "top hierarchy" say that you must put a "Muslim from the Southwest", as if that's going to make Yoruba people or Northerners proud lol. Though the SE should not make Speaker/Sen. Prez a do or die affair, by virtue of having a significant number of PDP selectors/riggers, they definatley have a stronger case, unless PDP is after all, going to seed things based on ethnicity and religion. |
Beaf:Do you think it has anything to do with Islam? That is, the way it's been implemented in the North? Even the originators of the faith -the Arabs, have developed their societies (Morocco/Egypt/Dubai, the Kingdom of Saudi) |
emmke:And when that "little" finishes then you'll go to Italy to do aristo se'? People that dont want to progress and choose to stay the same, will eventually end up in oral tells. |
Areosapien:Amen! |
Ironically, I'm all for the building of a new airport in Lagos. Lagos population and importance, unlike Asaba, is comparable to places that have 2 or 3 major airports within their area (D.C.- Reagan/Dulles/BWI- NY-LaGuadia/Newark Int'l/JFK). After the fire that destroyed MMI domestic, the rebuilding of it by the state has made it better than the MMI inter'l, run chiefly by the feds. The problem here is the same old Naija problem- cheating. In soccer, academics, business, and politics. Others call it corruption. How can you allocate nearly $700 million on an airport? Even the Abuja stadium was over $300 million? Why? It's still not greater than Premeir League Stadiums or those in South Africa. Are we competeing to have the greatest airport of all time, or a world-class modern airport that will guarantee saftey and is equiped with modern facilities? So, Fashola, you've been doing it big, but let's have a public debate about Lagosian's money and their children's money when finalizing this great idea. |
Sun of god:And when your mumsi says she wants to register? Wetin u wan do? Nonsense |
Abia people arent serious. Period. Instead of organizing yourself to do one small task- voting out/removing all expired incumbent members of assembly, national assembly, governor, you instead allowed yourself to be taken as irrelavant again. Then you turn around and say Ngwa is being divided, exploited, no credible opposition, Kalu too strong, Orji could redeem himself, and nonsense. Meanwhile, the educated and serious people in Imo State, despite all the attempts to intimidate, bribe, rigg, and kill, stood steadfast and, with the help of real community leaders (Arch-bishop, community leaders) got the job done. In the SW, the party that has the people's interest swept the region, and the north has parties (ANPP, PDP, CPC) that they are the majority in. So Abia people, una get what you deserve. |
I go slap your face. Take this to romance or entertainment and fantasize about Geni there in the bathroom |
Peter Obi's Anambra state has been better than Mbadinuju's. Onitsha ia a heck lot better than it was 10 years ago. However, the police presence and violence in the state has increased simultaneously, and frankly, Obi seems to be swimming in a pool of sharks (PDP/NGIGE/UBAS/and local Anambra People). Obi also doesnt have the "Nigerian" political sense to increase your base- especially when you/your party is popular in the area, thus, the victory of PDP and even an election rigger Ngige, over almost every APGA candidate. Its too bad, and frankly, when his soon to come election comes, I won't be surprised that Chris Uba wins the election. |
SE doenst need speaker position. If they get it fine, but their focus should be on electing credible leaders and not the same old "it's our turn" bull. What did they do with the Senate Pres position? Nothing, because they selected thiefs to go to the Senate. |
By Olawale Olaleye 08 May 2011 A regional commission to accelerate development and economic integration in the south-west and Edo State in the south-south is in the works. The commission to be known as South-west Regional Development Commission (SWERDCO) is being promoted by the Action Congress of Nigeria, which has control over the area covering the old Western Region, presently comprising eight states in the south-west and south-south. Activities of SWERDCO, ACN sources revealed, will cover Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ekiti, Osun and Ondo States. Although Ondo is under the Labour Party, it will be included under the commission because the ruling party in the state has an ideological affinity with the ACN. The jurisdiction of the commission will also extend to Edo State that is in the south-south and is being ruled by an ACN-led government. Beyond geographical contiguity, Edo State was part of the defunct Western Region in the First Republic from which it was excised to form the defunct Midwestern State on August 9, 1963. It later metamorphosed into Bendel State from where the present Edo and Delta States were created on August 27, 1991. Delta State, however, would not come under the jurisdiction of the commission because the ruling party in the state is the Peoples Democratic Party. A decision to form the commission was taken at a meeting of the national caucus meeting of the ACN in Abuja on May 1. SWERDCO will perform functions similar to those of Oduduwa Investments Company Limited, a conglomerate that oversees the investments of the old Western Region inherited by all south-west states except Lagos. However, unlike Oduduwa, a source close to the meeting said SWERDCO would not dabble into investment initiatives that would incur debts for member-states. Rather, it will focus on stimulating development initiatives for the collective good of the region and its people. According to the source, the meeting which began on May 1 ran into the early hours of May 2, during which the party leaders and governors discussed the need for regional integration that would provoke vast and even development across the region. He said all the governors elected on the platform of the party and other national members of the party, including its chairman, Chief Bisi Akande and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, attended the meeting. He said the governors bought into the idea and agreed to work on the establishment of the commission after their inauguration on May 29. Also in attendance at the meeting was the presidential candidate of the party in the just concluded presidential election, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu. At the meeting, Ribadu informed party members of his intention to take up his UN job on anti-corruption in Afghanistan. He bade the party goodbye and sort their permission to return to his UN job, which he held before returning to the country to run for the presidency. He expressed satisfaction that the leadership of the party stood by him during the election and thanked them for their support. Among the foremost tasks to be performed by the commission will be in the area of infrastructure development, including railway and road construction, and agriculture services to increase food production and facilitate the establishment of agro-allied industries. Others areas will be in the area of commercial and social services such as provision of potable water, specialist hospitals, independent power projects, and ensuring the judicious utilisation of water under the control of the river basin authorities in the region. THISDAY gathered that an initial position paper on the development initiative was put together by a team comprising some former commissioners in Tinubu’s cabinet, bankers and some Nigerians in Diaspora. The party initially had difficulty selling the idea to Ondo State governor, Olusegun Mimiko, who was miffed with ACN over its attempt to take over the state. He was said to have taken offence at a statement reportedly made by the Ekiti State chairman of the party, Chief Jide Awe that Ondo would fall to ACN in next governorship election slated for 2012. Mimiko, the source said, had dismissed the possibility of working together with ACN if the ultimate plan is to take the state from him. The issue has since been resolved but the source did not disclose under what terms. The source said Ondo is critical to the regional relationship because the state has natural resources that could help the commission achieve its target. For instance, Ondo has bitumen deposits in commercial quantity, a major raw material for both road and railway constructions. The source said a steering committee that would drive the initiative would be set up soon after the inauguration of the governors. He said the composition of the committee would include members of cabinets of each member state such as commissioners for agriculture, works and housing, finance, and economic planning, among others. Some members of the private sector, who would be partners in the venture, could also be co-opted into the committee. The managing director or chairmanship of the commission will be rotated among member states. The source said the committee would also iron out the pattern of funding with its private sector partners. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/acn-plans-regional-development-commission-for-s-west-edo/90970/
Chei! Naija journalist. See how a rather interesting development has been covered by an amateur. What has the false and exaggerated part highlighted have to do with 2011? |
Sagamite:I read you stupid response ode. You aint sayn nutin. Have you seen Northerners abroad? Yes or no? Instead you are writing rubbish. Re-write your 'points', especially # 4 and 5. Holla back |
Abeg post on entertainment. This na political gist? Ode |
drpolitics:At last a shorter post of rubbish. Thank goodness. Like someone rightfully called you "Mr. Campaigner", you are exactly what I called you- A FOOL. Ohakim is in modern day terms a rogue, but I would like to grant him a chieftancy title- WARRANT CHIEF of Imo State. Did you know that I've been to Owerri or should I say Owere? Yes, the Omo Yoruba/Bini/Igbo Mens Dept. I have to admit, there's nothing world class about that township. Outside of it, the deplorable way of life is the same as it was 4 years ago, 10 years ago, and 20 years ago. You should be ashamed of yourself for posting rubbish on here about how Saint Ohakim the WARRANT CHIEF, is revolutionizing Imo State. I hope the god of the land will smite you and your entire compound. Onye 'shi |
How is the old Eastern region back. If Ohakim steals the election and is again re-selected like he was in 2007, then the only thing back in the East are the WARRANT CHIEFS!!! The SW and Edo can be seen to be "back", that is, back to serious 'politiking' in Nigeria. In the North, all the major parties there- CPC, PDP, and ANPP, are all MAJORITY NORTH, or in other words, Northerners-along with political victors in the election, are more than the SE and SS. Whereas the usually unserious "Easterners", remain a minority in a Majority party/PDP, a minority in an opposition party ACN/, and are now divided over whether they should prostrate for the Speaker or PDP Chairmanship by the end of the month. Where did they bury the Aba women of 1929? I know they are weepin for these latter generations. |
Sagamite:And your point is what? fayahsoul:Clearer point. |
Well Well, a flag for Odua eh?
|
drpolitics:Ah Hah!!! I see. You are simply a fool!!! Typical microscopic thinking African from the Nigg.a Area. Listen to yourself and see how you sound. When you do, you'll see that you sound like a complete FOOL. On Nairaland you are writing nothing more than rubbish about a well-known thug called Ohakim, and you think by your lengthy garbage people will say, " Ewoooh, Chei, Na De Ohakim be that". Nonsense |
The chairmanship of the party was originally zoned to the South-east in 2007, and was designed to last for eight years as other zoned principal government positions. It has rocked like a musical chair, with the last occupant, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, quitting in January this year in a most elegant manner. . http://odili.net/news/source/2011/may/4/512.html
Naija journalist and their yeye writing. "In a most elegant manner". seanet02:Exacto!!! See who and who has "won" in their states. People like Theo Orji and the entire same old fools from Abia state-across the board, from Senate to State Assembly. Every position they've gotten since 1999 has ended up in "a most elegant manner" lol |
You mean Buhari and Coup Plotter Club folks that posting market square pictures thinking it was revolution. Those in the Egypt and Tunisia did what you call real revolution, not posting of pixs |
LOL. Oyibo is teaching monkey how to catch banana. This tribute rubbish is just one of those "feel good" deceptions that at the end of the day, means nothing. WHere is the tribute to Nigerian FOOD |
Dora needs to keep fighting. People here are fearful of a strong woman that will shake the greedy men off their stools. This was the same level of hate that Kudirat was faced with on internet forums when she continued to fight for her husbands mandate. I'm sure most of the posters here are not even from Anambra state, and are simply haters who have never seen peace in their miserable lives. |
