ba7man: Funny enough, most of the hardship they complain about is as a result of dwindling oil prices and the unwillingness of past administrations to save.
Buhari took over Nigeria at its worst period......... but a lot of people are too shallow to realize this. how do you expect us to, when we were used to doing things the wrong way thinking it's the best way? now the tide is turning us in a different, (albeit the right) direction, rethinking our ways of life won't come without a price, collectively and individually. |

Spiritual enlightenment is not in church doctrines and traditions but a DIY experience with the Eternal Source.
Some pastors/churches have arrogated the role of God, blind folding the congregants who are glad to shift the responsibility of (individual) spiritual Awakening and growth to a pastor.
It's only an enlightened soul that can love a brother or see something good in him who is of a different religious belief, knowing that they are climbing the same mountain whose apex is their eternal destination. |

Mayflowa: These are genuine reasons bro but with Nigerians, trust to expect widespread financial shenanigans. That is the bane of our country such that high level economics doesn't work and Nigeria continue to defy theories that have successfully turn other mundane countries around.
What the CBN refers to are idle funds. These funds have been lying fallow for years on end. This amount is near the country's entire wealth and could stimulate development for Nigerians and the owners if invested. If you receive and keep funds in your domiciliary account with the intention of changing at black market rate at favourable times, you are as well guilty.
As a control during this harsh time, All forex earned should be converted to the Nigeria currency after 3 months. And you will see how our Naira will pick up both at the official window and the black market. The only reason foreign governments don't bother about their BDC, is because, there exist slight margin with the official window. BDCs are not profitable! so you don't find them anywhere except in airport maybe where they fleece travellers. Here BDCs are hugeeee (in Donald Trump's voice) business in which you sell currencies with no products attached. That is the beginning of a dying country. The bolded makes sense to me, as domiciliary account don't get paid interest (or does it?). any business transactions it is supposed to pay for would have been finalized within that period else it's kept for speculation or out of fear which drives the vicious cycle we are in. |

Before it was just among the older generations but the necessity to acquire more income is the driving force. Do u know how much boys get from this weekly? A dude won 880k for my eye. You dey mind them? Have they not noticed young boys are busy forecasting bets and making extra money thereby reducing crime in a way? A boy in my friend's neighborhood won #1.2m with a #100 bet. freecocoa: I certain haven't done anything this stupid for love, so I cant relate.
This isn't love, it's a sense of poor judgement. It doesn't have to be this stupid to qualify as brainwashing, it could have been a noble deed, but brainwashing all the same. I don't know which one I find harder to understand: is it because this case involves a Muslim boy from the north and a christian girl from the south or we are all morally upright and all that? In my locality I have seen many young girls living with guys, what I don't know is if the parents consent was sought. |

freecocoa: no doubt, stupid boys and girls elope but to just change your identity like that, well says a lot about the girl and her home than any other thing but you can't rule out the fact that she may have been brainwashed, given the region involved.
Jesus knows I'm no bigot, just realistic. Forget region. Love or infatuation is enough brainwashing on its own. Think of the things we have done for love or in its name. Lets stop castigating the northerners on this, for we are in this boat together, hate them or love them we have to live with them till death do us part or Nigeria breaks up whichever that comes first. |

This is a non issue. Who made it mandatory for brides to wear white and groom black?
What if the bride chooses to wear purple or pink?
There is nothing like humiliating the bride and groom going scot free, are they not "a couple"? The couple is humiliated.
The actual wedding ceremony took place two months prior, meaning the marriage is two months old from date of traditional wedding. If I were the groom I wouldn't even bother.
so the couple should abort the pregnancy because of wearing white gown? |
Politics › Re: Buhari: N5000 Payment To Unemployed Youth Is Not My Priority by menxer: 11:26am On Feb 28, 2016 |
tuale4u: Those promises were made at $100 dollar oil. Not realistic at $30 dollar oil. Leadership must evaluate its decisions at every moments. Kudos PMB. Yes it is a failed promise. But it is better to made d right decision even though it may lead to failed promises.
This post is not to defend PMB. This post is to support him for making the right decision. I never agree to the 5000 naira stipend to unemployed graduate. It would have be a waste. But 5000 naira for the most vunerable 1million nigerians (Mostly widows and physically challenge) is welcome if we can fund it. 5k to unemployed graduate is a no no no.
PMB did not deny the promise was made despite the fact that he never personally made d promise. He is only saying on his scale of preference, that is not among top priority. PMB is a firm and sincere leader. He speak his mind straight up. No president in the world including United State of America, have ever succeeded in fulfilling all campaign promises.
At every point in time, a leader must evaluate what he consider most important to d nation and make a bold decision. Leadership is dynamic. It is better to be criticise for not achieving a campaign promise than implementing a promise that is unrealistic just to save face. Even if it means losing the next election,or losing popularity, a leader must put the country first.
The funny thing is dat those wailers who never supported the idea, who said it will promote laziness, will still be the one to condemn and criticise him for not prioritising it instead of commending him for doing d needful.
I am living in governance mode. I dont care about what campaign promise were. I only care about good governance. Any campaign promise that is not realistic today can go to hell. For those who cares so much about campaign promises, you can use ur PVC in 2019 and vote what u want. For those who claim Buhari won the election because of 5000 naira stipend for unemployed are not saying the truth. More than 99% of people who voted for Buhari voted for him because he was seen as much better to fight corruption. Not because he promised 5000 naira. I am not even sure he got 100 votes because of the 5000 naira stipend promise.
Leadership is about optimising available resources for the best of the country. Not wasting it on project in order to look good and save face. You dey mind them? Any graduate asking for or expecting a #5000 stipend is not worth the paper his/her certificate is printed. I voted PMB for a changed Nigeria of accountability and probity not because he will pay 5k to anybody. Prosperity is beyond paying stipend, it's a state of mind, a conscious that we need to inculcate as a nation, not greed and bigotry. |
