My mother instilled in us (my siblings) the habit of not staying out late without permission or reasonable excuse. 8pm was late; which was the closing time of the state Library then (our official excuse in case you happen to stay out) but using that excuse one must show what one learned or read. Hahahahaha I would ever remember one night my elder Bros in his final year in university went for his department night out without informing anyone at home. We didn't know how to cover for him. He came back around midnight, sneaked into bed. At about 4am mum was doing the checks again and there was this body on a bed that was previously empty. we were woken by the thundering of cane on bare back. Imagine being beaten to wakefulness from stupor. Till date, as an independent adult, staying out late always rings alarm bell in my mind. My father never laid his hand on any of us. Mom, I miss you. |
Did Jesus say paying tithes would make us a better person or insure our souls? Everything rises and falls on love not tithing. |
SUPERPACK:That is an apt reply. |
abumeinben:That's exactly my thoughts. How can we benefit with the introduction of "suicide seeds" into our agriculture? In the long run it will still make us dependent on BBG foundation for more seeds to grow our food, what kind of help is that? I only wish our people can see beyond the $6m. |
santori:You dey mind them? Dasuki is prosecuted they shout witch hunting, now they want Saraki to be freed because GEJ administration freed Tinubu, albeit "in error". The way we think no follow logic. |
LegatusGlaber:This issue has been gone over several times and the fact still remains: it's not APC government that set Tinubu free "in error" and that case was closed and cannot be reopened according to our learned fellows in the house. Besides If the CJ said Tinubu was freed in "error" must we repeat the same "error" with Saraki? Come to think of it, is Saraki not an APC member and is being dealt with by APC government? Why are wailers wailing? |
lordizak:I am still on it. |
lordizak:Like.... weaning us off over dependence on imported items and unearned dollars to local production, consumption and export to earn dollars. |
lordizak:You know, "we" as adults were used to being bottle fed forex and PMB came, took the feeding bottles away and gave us spoons to eat Abakaliki rice, you reason na, is it fair? ![]() |
Melkizedek:Your comment begs the question: who is the Government? Is "he" the man from the moon? No! We are the Government, and if government has so far failed in "its" responsibilities to do those things you mentioned, it means we have failed as a people. |
So the west and owners/publishers of the economist love Nigeria more than Nigerians? The same people that ill-advised us not to complete Ajoakuta steel, that importing everything is better for us, not to save in those years of abundance are the same people advising us to devalue, how can that be in our best interest? Our problem is we refuse(d) to think as a nation and want foreigners to do that for us. Tough time calls for tough decisions, and PMB/CBN have done just that in the best interest of Nigeria. |
If this had been the gospel preached over the years we wouldn't be where we are now. Show me a developed nation without Philosophers (thinkers) and inventors? And many are not PhD holders. |
Angelberry:Hhhhmmm As educated as we claim to be none of us has ever heard of hermaphrodite, some are shouting witches, smh. |
MUMMYCUNT:As in it took you 5 solid years to finalize a transaction that ordinarily takes a few days? It indeed calls for celebrating. ![]() |
The former deputy governors present included Iyiola Omisore (Osun) and Etuk Effiong (Akwa Ibom). Please what year was bolded a deputy governor in Akwa Ibom? |
Randyhot:As we get older the above gets multiplied, perfected and ingrained by age. A grown up is just a child manifesting on a grand scale. As children, we used to steal pieces of meat from the pot, now we steal funds from the Federal purse. |
Mynd44:You dey mind some bigots that can't see any thing good about Nigeria? Even in my town, levies/taxes are paid on animals bought, which can be used to do the estimates. I wonder what "statisticians" are needed again when the transaction details are duly kept by the butchers association and is just a simple addition of the figures therein? We have lost sight of the real gist of this thread: the partnership between Lagos and Kebbi states. |
That's a good observation. why is he always predicting evil things happening and no preemptive solution? Is sport bet predicting above him? Why can't he predict when oil price would be $100/barrel? Or Naira appreciating in the forex market? |
Once upon a time there was only pure spirit beings until an experiment to create man (a mixture of spirit, Astral, mental and physicality) was conceived, created and brought to life by the "Gods". It won't be out of place for cyborg to be incorporated into the creation mix: And Man said, Let us make cyborg in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth and the Internet of things." God created man because He wanted to experience life in physicality, Man create cyborg because he wants to experience life in virtual reality/internet of things. ![]() Man is an organic computerized machine with programmable codes (DNA) created by the "Gods", Cyborg is an inorganic computerized machine with programmable codes created by man ![]() |
bright007:One carton of Orijin for you. You just summarized why our standard of education is falling. In those days that our standard of education is said to have been high, was there no discipline cum flogging of students? I have forgotten all my teachers and lecturers in school except those hard core disciplinarians and what they stood for; their names still etched in memory ring bells. |
The victim complicated issues. If she was ill why did she not stay away from participating in the work, only to use that as excuse when instructions were given? How come she dared the Prefect and returned the slap as ill as she was? She caused her problem. the Principal over did it by "over flogging " the victim. But how many strokes of the cane amount to "over flogging"? If the school can no longer instill discipline in students, why should we complain when our youths misbehave or act rude and by extension exhibit insubordination to constituted authority as adults? |
If PMB is insensitive to the plight of Nigerians how much more Pastors that live in superlative luxury at the expense of church members. He is right in saying the system is to be blamed, including the church system that failed to inculcate ethics and morals in Nigerians in their (church) quest for growth and expansion. |
Nairaland at times remind me of those days in school, when/where some people would never raise their hands to ask or answer a question in class but would form Mr Mighty/Miss Know-all in the play ground. Some of us are hiding behind the anonymity of NL moniker to spew and support all sorts of rationally, morally and ethically bereft opinions just to spite others wearing a different political party colour. |
Zoharariel:I concur with you: wailing wailers reason the way that guy you quoted do, and zombies reason the way you and I do. ![]() |
GooseBaba:so which is secular amongst the listed? you said i am wrong but you failed to include secular in your list; my question: is secular a religious belief? |
If it's cooked I guess it changes color to indicate when it's done. Imagine using that to prepare pap. ![]() |
GooseBaba:Thank you. What I meant is a nation with Islam and Christian adherents. Or Is secular a religious belief? ![]() |
i am beginning to suspect that CAN tried for 16 years to Christianize Nigeria and are afraid the Muslims would try the same thing. it is a fact Nigeria is an Islam/Christian nation, CAN should look for a common ground with the Muslim counterpart and work towards inculcating the mindset of peace and harmony, and stop creating fear in the minds of the people. Are we as Christians not commanded to love our neighbors as ourselves? irrespective if that neighbor is a Muslim? |
na wa for some people. @Op, what took an effort to do, humiliating and embarrassing the girl by undressing and caressing her only to turn and spit on her feelings? For your info, you had sex with her. |
Come to think of it, would this gender equality allow ladies to pay for and marry a man of their choice and not be on the waiting list of any man? When a woman contested for Governorship in Taraba state, did she get 100% support and vote from the women, even taking the contest even to the courts? in the civil service, what is the ratio of women to men employed? why are they using rape and domestic violence to argue their case? even in America such crimes do happen, and won't stop because it's included in any gender equality bill. as for a husband sharing his property to his wife, what is the function of a Will? |
iamrealdeji:We for starve or suffer malnutrition. Imagine, have you been to a slaughter before where cattle are "murdered"? Or where chicken "genocide" is committed so that you can walk into a fast food and have your shawarma and meat pie? Saving one bird does not make up for all the other animals "sacrificed" to feed us, domesticated or not. |
ladyF:Meaning what's good for the wild goose is not good for the domesticated fowl? I know that even though although all animals are equal some are more equal than others. ![]() |
