Do you have a background in USA banking?
The value of the deposit in her account doesn’t match her income.
Bank staff are trained to watch for things like this and report it.
I’ve had my accounts frozen on numerous occasion because of things like this.
She doesn’t have to commit a crime to trigger an audit.
You could try to learn a thing or two for future discussions. Do you know how many people in US have bank balance over $10,000. Ive had a bank balance over 50k with an investment in a ROTH account around similar figure and at end of year they sent me capital gains distribution statement. Never had an audit, never had a probe. No be everybody for nairaland be mumu now. Eehn?? |

I stand by my original response and you are free to continue to disagree.
Have a nice day. Im not saying what you wrote is wrong. Your response is accurate but it has zero reference to what I wrote, which is on target with the case reported. Not only is your accurate statement unrelated, but you even said my statement is false. Consider that these people have had the money in there for years. So going by your rule their bank would definitely have been reporting the balance to authorities all that time. Why are they just coming after them? Something new triggered the probe and initiated cause for legality. You might be a banker....but Im an analyst! |

EgunMogaji2: This is patently false.
Your source of funds is always paramount to US Banks. This is due to the money laundering acts.
I worked for 10 years at Bank of America.
Any deposit over $10K gets flagged. Then the audit starts which will eventually involved the IRS. I think you got over excited without understanding what I wrote. Probe or interrogation is a initiative to question legality and motive. Law enforcement come after you. Bank report is a mandate. There does not need to be a motive...it is done for everyone who meets the limit. Totally different. This General is being probed. |

There is something missing in the story.
If you like put 5billion dollars in your account US will never interrogate where you got money from. Never ever ever!
You have to do something illegal with the account first, which will then give cause to probe.
The wife must have done something illegal from that account first which set a trigger. ...and all they are doing is following the odour to see who rubbed shit for body. |

ImperialYoruba: So I continue with the exercise of tying Yoruba and Arab together as one consistent link of culture separated by civilization, one the originator, the other a successor.
There are two prominent markers for Arabs.
1. The pre-Islamic deity worshipers in the North.
2- the post-Islamic dynasties in the South.
The pre-Islamic was identified as Koreish, also called Quraysh or Quraishi or Koreishi.
The second, that of dynasties is identified as Qahtan and tribes of Adramit (Hadramaut) and their settlement of Oman and the Hijaz. I will discuss these people when I get to talk about Ado and Adimu and all that.
For now lets inspect KOREISH. This is a marker for those known as a people that greet or reverence or give obeisance to ORISHA.
Ki orisha Ki oreish K'oreish Koreish
The Koreish occupied and controlled Mecca. The Koreish were descended from the lineage of Kinana, the same lineage which Sultan Bello and Ahmed Baba recorded when they described Yoruba as Banu Kanaana, the tribe of Nimrud.
Progenitor of Koreish was Adnan, son of Ad.
The Koreish controlled Mecca and vicinity, Kaaba included. Inside the Kaaba they had an altar and also carved images symbolizing their deities (Orishas). To these images they will prostrate and give greetings and offerings to the Orishas who they will beg to intercede on their behalf before Almighty God, the one and only. The images served only as physical object to focus the service and meaning for their faith in the unseen and invincible Orishas. These carved images were called SIGIDI. This is already explained by metaphysical in one of the quotes from him on this thread.
When Koreish prostrate he will touch his forehead to the ground and implore his Orisha to bring him divine goodies and give him salvation and success in his material posessions and in afterlife.
This act of prostration exist in Yoruba culture as well. The Yoruba always has a altar in his household or in a shrine. The first act of the day is Ibori. He prostrates infront of his sigidi and pray to Orisha for his survival overnight, for his daily bread, for his family and material posession and then for his return home in safety and wellness. This prostration Yoruba call ISOJUDE.
A new world order then arrived and disrupted the normal and mainstream culture in Mecca. That new order was Islam. It came through Prophet Muhammad (saws).
Muhammad himself was a son of Koreish. He grew up in the ways and traditions of those who prostrate to Orisha. His practice in divine glory, through greetings and offerings to deities served as a conduit through which his consciousness opened and able to receive holy inspirations when Angel Gabriel or Jubril appeared to him. He became an awakener for his own people and a leader throughout the whole world. May his soul rest in everlasting peace, Amin!
He set many pillars around the practice of the faith. One of them is daily prayer for his followers, Muslims.
A muslim will first perform ablution to enter a state of cleanliness.
He will then stand facing Kaaba, the sacred Temple.
Next he will begin with an intent to clear his mind.
He will then say Allahu Akbar. Metaphysical explained this. He said this means God is the Greatest. He then gives its Yoruba cognate to be Olorun Al' Agbara.
He recites Fatiha (1st chapter of Quran) followed by another chapter and then bow over with hands placed on the knees. Muslims call this position Rukuuh. Metaphysical explains its Yoruba cognate as Orukun, which in the language refers to knee.
The muslim will come out of the bow position and stand upright, then immediately go into prostration and touch his head to the ground. Muslims call this Sujuud. Metaphysical explains this is Yoruba position for Isojude.
So it appears that certain aspects of muslim rites of prayer took origin from the practices in Kaaba where the Koreishi submit himself in prostration to greet and honor his Orisha. In fact the positions in those prayers coincide with similar positions observed by Yoruba when he goes before his altar to greet his Orisha. In addition, the muslim lexicon in the rite of prayer are cognates in Yoruba descriptive words for body parts employed or engaged in that respective action.
The Koreish were Aborisha like the Yorubas. They would enter Kaaba and give offerings on Wednesday. That's how IRUBO (ARBA) became a day of reckoning on their calendar just like it did for Yorubas Wednesday called IRUBO (Ojo Ru).
Yoruba and Koreish shared culture but were separated by civilizations.
When we talk of borrowed words, Arabic borrowed from Yoruba. I will show this more clearly when we do name attributes. That would come after discussion on Ado. I call this tying the knot. A powerful delivery! Looking back, I notice if I substitute in Allahu Akbar, remove the k and put g with an end vowel, I have Allahu Agbara....just like saying Alagbara! This makes me want to examine if individual Yoruba Oriki names are actually attributes of divine powers like for instance Orisha. Alabi Alani Alake Alamu Alade Alao ...and so on. If I can trace these names to divine attributes, it will hold true as well for others such as.... Abebi Abeni Aduni Aduke Adufe Akani Akanmu Ayinla ...and so on. |

To amend the constitution you need a majority at the National Assembly to pull it off and the North holds a large majority there. Of course they dont want to restructure. The ports and inland waterways are their own now and they are not going to leave.

Gandollaar: Even the O toh geh movement wouldn't have succeeded if it wasn't backed by a bigger financial war chest than the Sarakis. We should agitate for electoral reforms first. It's a low hanging fruit that has the capability to feed all to contentment. Are you aware the restructuring debate has been going on since 1964? Theyve not succeeded till date because we have been patching the defects with constituional and electoral reforms and refusing a wholesale backward-compatibly that many advisers had advocated. The 2014 confab was an attempt to reform. We need a flash switch. Yes O to geh was bankrolled by same political syndicate but it has capacity now to cleanse the rot left by the old institution. They will have their own baggage but it cannot be as bad as the one booted out. Similarly I do not expect pro-restructuring group to be without flaws...but it cannot stink like what we have now. Individual groups must take ownership and drive their own destiny forward. Nothing in the restructured prospect can be as bad as the best of what we have had in the unitary system. |

On matters like this I first allow few hours to weigh the situation before responding.
1. It is clear Kabiyesi is upset with his Queen.
2. I would beg him in name of ancestors to please calm and handle this situation with discretion.
3. Oba is a father to all, including his wives. Kabiyesi must talk to Olori as he would to his daughter if she had upset him beyond reasoning.
4. Kabiyesi should please stop typing any more responses to her.
5. Olori is a female gender, she is doing what females do when hurt. They talk and find solace. She is looking for support from other women and not necessarily targeting Kabiyesi. Her note shows a feeling of vulnerability and hurt. Allow her to pour out her pains and connect with her feminine sisters and get the necessary emotional support for herself.
I do not know the background to the story but I am truly shocked at the Oluwo Council of Chiefs and Priests that they allowed the Queen to be treated in this manner.
She left everything she knew to come with the King to Nigeria and has been a Queen for 4yrs. She has a child for him. When Kabiyesi rejects her, a comfortable abode should have been made available for her and her child, away from Palace and away from Town so she could have option of living and raising her child in Nigeria. To kick her out of palace and hand a travelling ticket and hotel key to her is a bit of a stretch. It could have been done more decently and her dignity protected from public humiliation.
We have not heard the last of this drama.
When Olori arrives back in Canada book and movie brokers are going to bombard her with unimaginable offers for exclusive rights to publish and air her experience as an African Queen. They will portray Oluwo with a bottomline for dollar....with no respect or honor. It will be their story, not his!

"R" is one such letter, so
"Abd-al-rasheed" becomes "Abd-ar-rasheed"
And "Abd-al-salam" also becomes "Abd-as-salam"
But "H" is not one of them.
So "Abd-al-hakim" remains "Abd-al-hakim"

Gandollaar: I admire your optimism for the emergence of a truly egalitarian Nigeria. But I'm afraid we don't have enough truly altruistic citizens be they activist or not.
Those you call activist are a bunch sponsored by the same politicians you seek to retire.
Nigeria lacks that strong middle force required to fight and win the battle using the sheer instrumentality of dialogue.
You must have enormous financial war chest to win people to your side in the present situation.
Then show me one Nigerian today that possess such financial capability without having to have gone through the system to become rich.
And as soon as he rears his head, the government of the day will dig up his dirt.
At the end of the day, it's self-preservation first before the desire for a truly prosperous society where everyone can live and enjoy.
If Nigeria cannot afford a break up, it should at least reform it's electoral processes to truly reflect the wishes of the people. Very deep and insightful. Thanks. I read an interview by Prof Wande Abimbola after he finished serving as Senator Leader during one of the transition segments between 1992 and 1999, and he outlined the expectations awaiting him when he got back into town. During his tenure as Senate Leader his constituency expected him to act in the accustomed way of Abuja politicians and flood town with money and contracts. This did not happen. They were really furious at end of his legislative service that he returned to them in same way he had departed to Abuja. He did not enrich himself! People in his town shunned him and thought of him as a disservice to their pride. There is nothing in what you say I will disagree with...i just wanted to share that to give real life account on its own scale. We are in trouble when a community expect a Chief Priest (Araba Agbaye) to steal from public treasury. This idea of uprooting and displacing unitary system and its pool of custodians is not a fix-all approach. Change comes with pains and failures preceed success. Anyone looking for a smooth and painless transition is a dreamer, reality is those who want to displace the financiers and bankrollers of political rot must come prepared in all aspects of readiness. Forcing a change through electoral process is first step. Look at O To Ge in Kwara, who would have thought a small band of guys could force a revolutionary change in Kwara and displace a political institution? There are people willing to bankroll a restructure of this country if they see elements on the ground they can bridge to make it happen. |
