Gandollaar:Yoruba Nation need to shoo Nigerian elections away from our borders. Thats why you see my advocacy here against the election. Follow me for more action on the issue. |
zionmde:Igbo put the country in its current dillema. Igbo greed backfired and marginalized Igbo. Others did not ask Igbo to plot coup, kill military and political leaders. |
mrvitalis:He is forcing himself on Nigerians. Yoruba no force am. We need a king over us, not over other people. |
mrvitalis:God bless you! Yoruba Nation on my mind! Referendum is what we want, not wayo election. |
mrvitalis:Tinubu will not even dare ask for it. Is he drunk? Of all the greatly qualified people to lead Yorubaland, Tinubu? He will probably be a policy consultant to Federation of Yoruba Commonwealth, but not a President. |
tamdun:There are six regions in Nigeria. Three are above river niger. Obi will not make even a ripple above river niger. Okupe, his deputy will help him with votes in Sw but APC will sweep SW. In SS, PDP will sweep that region. Obi can only win SE. By May 29th, I expect a fresh lamentation about being cheated and marginalised. A new agitation for 2027 to be given to them to rule. |
dignity33:We comment on current affairs. We did not dictate on what kwankwaso demanded, we only react like everyone else. Why, do you wish we ignore him? |
Yoruba Nation on my mind! |
On June 9, following a closed-door meeting, the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) issued a public statement that the Igbo-dominated southeast should be allowed to secede from the Federal Republic of Nigeria if it was necessary to avoid a civil war. NEF spokesman Hakeem Baba-Ahmed said “the Forum has arrived at the difficult conclusion that if support for secession among the Igbo is as widespread as it is being made to look, and Igbo leadership appears to be in support of it, then the country should be advised not to stand in the way.” His statement continued that secession was not in the best interest of the Igbos or of Nigerians. Rather, all should work to rebuild Nigeria. But, blocking secession “will not help a country already burdened with failures on its knees to fight another war to keep the Igbo in Nigeria.” The statement also suggested that northerners subject to harassment in the southeast should return to the north. There was no reference to secessionist sentiment in Yorubaland, in southwest Nigeria, to which former President Olusegun Obasanjo has referred. The former president said that Yoruba secession, too, would be unwise, but that maintaining unity should not come “at any cost.” Though there is no specific reference to it, clearly animating the NEF statement is the memory of Nigeria’s 1967-70 civil war, successfully fought by Nigerian nationalists to keep Igbo-dominated Biafra in the federation; it left up to two million dead. It, too, involved massive population movements, with Igbos fleeing to the south a northern pogrom and fewer northerners leaving the southeast. In the civil war, northern elites strongly supported the nationalists. Current Igbo disgruntlement has its roots in defeat in the civil war and the belief that they are marginalized from the upper reaches of the Nigerian state. (There has never been an Igbo president of Nigeria.) Such feelings of marginalization are exacerbated by Nigeria’s nationwide epidemic of violence and economic malaise. The NEF, for its part, has responded to rising insecurity in Nigeria by calling for President Buhari to resign or to be impeached. Resignation or impeachment is a reversal of the NEF’s support of Muhammadu Buhari’s presidential candidacy in 2015. It should be noted that the NEF statement in support of allowing secession had two caveats: that there be widespread support for it among the Igbo but also among their “leadership” (not further defined). While secessionist advocates will argue to the contrary, prima facie evidence for both either way is thin. Do the views of the NEF matter? How representative is it of northern elite opinion? Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media Femi Adesina responded to its June 9 statement by dismissing the NEF as “a mere irritant” that hardly exists beyond its convener, Ango Abdullahi—a distinguished, former vice chancellor (president) of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. According to Adesina, the former vice chancellor is a general with no troops. Indeed, the influence of the NEF is hard to judge. But, its public statements attract widespread media attention. As with former President Obasanjo’s comments on Yoruba separatism, at the very least the NEF statements is an indication that rising insecurity is leading at least some of Nigeria’s elites to rethink the basis of the Nigerian state—and of the consequences of its civil war. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cfr.org/blog/nigerias-northern-elders-forum-keeping-igbo-not-worth-civil-war%3famp

What do you think kwankwaso meant when he said he cant be VP to Obi, but Obi can be his VP in an alliance? He is speaking Northerners viewpoint in how they see Ibo. If kwankwaso accepts to be Obi VP, thats end of his career in Nigeria. |
Gandollaar:I dont have candidate. Reno is an opportunist, not different from FFK. My own opportunity lies in Yoruba Nation. |
ajekpaks:I dont have a candidate. Im just social commentator. Yoruba Nation is on my mind. |
nameo:Stop your nonsense. Abi you think you are talking to little boys. Obi is politically deficit in his home state Anambra. Which person could be bigger in Anambra politics than Odumegwu Ojukwu, founder of APGA? Are you saying Obi is bigger than Ojukwu? Obi was afraid of PDP and its leader, Obasanjo. Ojukwu used APGA to shield Obi. Even with that he was still not man enough to stand on his own and fight off the legislature. Dont talk nonsense here or I bring out a whole more skeletons from Obi's cupboard and give to Kwankwaso people in NNPP to use to whip him. |
nameo:Im not a Tinubu follower. Left to me Nigeria should conduct referendum, not this gaddem election to continue swindling people. If you are going to make noise, make it to get results. You Obidients are just shrieking and offending eardrums. Yes, you get our attention but your principal, Obi has no trailwork of accomplishments in parity with Tinubu. Tinubu is not his mate. You should compare Obi at Kwankwaso level, not Tinubu level. That reality will dawn on you in February when results are announced. Do you know how long Tinubu has been at this job of winning elections, even for people with un-winnable prospects? Since 1998. Now, that's just in Nigeria.....don't let me add his electoral victories for clients in Gambia, Guinea, Mozambique. |
Obi supporters are just making noise, and the decibel of their noise is very high...but that's all there is to it, noise. High pitch noise! Think for a moment how a baby gets attention of its mother. It cries, the louder the shriek the better and faster mother's response. The cries gets response but doesn't translate to results most times. In Nigerian political space Obi is a baby. They called him youth corp governor back in 2007 when he was impeached. Some of you have been told that Obi was impeached because of his integrity and refusal to bow to corrupt politicians in his state. Really? How did he win the election to begin with, was it not the same corrupt politicians that brought him in? And why did he return to government house when invited back by same clout of corrupt politicians? What a bull and cock story about integrity. No legislator can impeach a governor without some godfather and powerful politicians that bankroll elections making it possible. The godfathers in Anambra kicked Obi out and they brought him back in. Governors get impeached for abuse and mismanagement, not for integrity. By claiming he is the only single person with integrity Obi is clearly indicting Anambra State as a corrupt State. The deputy Governor is corrupt, the state legislator is corrupt, the judiciary is corrupt. Nigeria is corrupt at moment and we have a NASS that is also corrupt. Perharps Obi should stay clear of Presidency, his integrity will not be tolerated and he will be impeached again. While he was weak and incapable of fighting against his impeachment in Anambra, the hercules in Lagos called Tinubu had taken the beast, Obasanjo, face on and fought to rescue himself from the clutches of the Federal dragon. Tinubu fought this dragon for four years. Atiku, who had to work side by side the beast in Aso Rock, also stood up and rescued himself from the gigantic dragon. Atiku battled the beast for six years. Obi could not even fight a small state legislature and rescue himself from their grab. He succumbed after just seven months. Obi does not have the gut, nor the spirit of a fighter that the Nigerian political landscape calls for. Tinubu is a seasoned fighter. Every election cycle since 1998 he has had to fight to get his own victory, or for his surrogates to win electoral victory. He has battled and defeated opponents with huge political machineries. He is a fighter, does not make noise....stealth is his weapon. He demonstrated this fighter spirit recently at APC primary. Despite obstacles meant to slow him down and even cut him down he fought to finish and cliched the trophy. He truly earned that flag and legitimate right to raise it high. Atiku is also a seasoned fighter and has accumulated experience and mileage in electoral battles. He has fought two beasts, Obasanjo and Buhari on the campaign and electoral circuits. He is no stranger to political gimmicks and intrigues. Obi has never fought any political battle beyond state level. Even at state level he is a weakling. He succumbed to legislature and allowed them to chase him out of government house. When he faced obstacles in APGA he defected to PDP. Then returned to APGA. He again defected to PDP...and now left PDP to Labor. This is a person who runs the other direction when opponents put obstacles to block his path. He did not even fight to prove himself in Labor, money got him the flag. Unlike Tinubu who earned the flag with his own negotiations and sweat, Obi raised a flag purchased from Labor. The cries of the baby is very effective in getting mother to respond but it is ineffective for obtaining results. The effectiveness come when the baby grow to speak and tell what it wants, or perharps independent to get it on its own and not bother mom with cries. Obidients need to stop crying and start telling the electorate how Obi will rescue Nigeria without succumbing and giving up. |
Dorwadora:I never took notice or cared how my meals were made growing up but after I became husband I shared in responsibility of household meals and became knowlegeable about cuisine. I was at first skeptical when my wife would buy iru and cook with it. The taste of her meals made me a believer. Iru is an agent, it makes all the difference in a sumptuous dish. Thanks for this thread! ![]() |
cocolacec:Im still preaching a division of Nigeria ever since. my spirit remains with Yoruba Nation. |
The current mainstream court system, i.e. civil courts, are foreign traditions of resolving civil disputes. When colonists met us here they found us with indigeneous traditions of resolving civil disputes. Both traditions serve the same goal...resolve civil dispute. Whiteman did not remove the indigeneous court system. He called them customary courts. The only difference between foreign civil court and customary court are language and certain ceremonies of appearance...like gown and cap and gavel. When a lawyer choses to practice in a civil court system then he respects the protocol of that court. I remember also a similar controversy about a student from Ilorin that was called to bar and would not remove hijab for the new court regalia. The judicial council need to put its foot down and force compliance on court appearance for licensed attorneys. |
OP, Nigeria is sick! Very sick. Yoruba Nation on my mind! |
plaindealer:I love Yoruba all days of my life. I dont love those who love Yoruba half-heartedly. Tinubu loves Yoruba for self goals. I worship Yoruba Commonwealth, not individual Yorubas. You are free to worship Tinubu, I will not. |
.Asiwaju was exonerated in the House of Assembly’s report because Senator Afikuyomi said he filled the form on his behalf then,” campaign spokesman Bayo Onanuga said in a statement to the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday.Same question Ive been asking. We know who submitted the document into records, it's Afikuyomi. We know who was seeking elective pffice, it was Tinubu. But who signed the submitted papers? If Tinubu signed the papers then his campaign and supporters have done great damage to him by continuing to talk on this issue. They need to stop talking about it. It's in court and there is gag order, nothing can be discussed or disclosed in fear of contempt. Period! |
![]() Southerners live by the constitution while Northerners live by their Shariah. Divide this country. Yoruba Nation on my mind! |
LegendHero:Very good. So let's go back to 2000. Buhari was a private citizen, not President of Nigeria, but he went to Oyo State, in tow with Buba Marwa, current head of NDLEA, to confront democratically elected Governor of Oyo State, Lam Adesina. The purpose of the visit was to speak in defense of fulani herdsmen that were killed in Oke Ogun for causing unrest in the town. Of course Adesina rebuffed him. Thats what a leader does. You speak when you believe your people are improperly treated. Even when their killing was justified, Buhari stood up to register his grievance nonetheless. Till today Buhari continue to stand up for his people. We dont want to wait till Tinubu is there to see what he can do. The truth is he won't do different than he was seeing doing. He questioned what youths were doing at toll gate as a justification for their massacre. He questioned why there were no cows around where Mrs Olakunri was gunned down. He remained silent and incognito on both Igangan massacre...and even Igboho illegal invasion and persecution. In pursuit of his ambition he keeps selling Yoruba to fulani and disguising it as Yoruba interest. How is it in our interest to be second class and slave to a minority? How? I dont mind you support him but acknowledge and accept that I will not. Dont see me as unpatriotic or sell out. Tinubu is the sell out and his patriotism is to Nigeria, not to Yoruba. One love bro! Yoruba Nation on my mind! |
plaindealer:You talk like a teenager in here. Dont force me to start ignoring your posts. Restrain your emotions and use brain to interact. Go through Nairaland on any Tinubu topic and check out my posts on him pre-Igangan. |
plaindealer:Im glad you found these pictures of Tinubu bowing to Ooni. Please post the dates. I will refer you back to an event in 2020, coronation of Oba Gbolahan as new Oniru. Ooni made entrance and Tinubu saw him but remained sitting. Ooni had to tap him before he acknowledged the Monarch. The outrage from that event taught Tinubu how to greet Ooni. The pics you show are post that date in 2020. Try again. |
Beremx:Berem stop it! ![]() One of the memorable US Presidents, Franklin D. Roosevelt, popularly called FDR, was a war President. He served three terms as President. His leadership made the difference in World War II and saved Western Europe from the clutches and military domination of Germany. Mr FDR was a paraplegic. |
