It doesnt take much in Nigeria for promising careers to suddenly hit a barrier but those who assess their position and are able to patiently wait for opportunity to cross over the barrier are true heroes....many are consumed in their rush and obstinate self-drive to tackle the barrier head-long that they end up forgotten.
Ali Ndume is risking his career in the APC. |

lexyking: Why would Lagos government respond to such a stupid question. Yes I called it stupid because they are 36 states in Nigeria, and except punch can confirm that they know how much is been paid to former governors of each of the other 35 states then the focus on Lagos and on Tinubu will not be tolerated Lagos should not respond to it. I want punch to go to court to enforce the FOI. Punch has lost meaning and interpretation of Freedom of Information. They should take it to court and seek ruling so they can be taught why this does not fall under FOI. |

jomoh: This case should not be settled at the table of sentiment.
If the president accepts his resignation, then he has set a precedence that will send a message to the NJC and other judges that they can always get a soft landing from the president if found wanting and it will transcend the presidents own regime to an unforeseeable future. It will also send a bad signal to the world that corrupt judges can get away with malfeasance in Nigeria. A very bad message about country claiming to be fighting corruption if we think about it.
But if he refuse, it will send a message of seriousness about the fight against corruption and set a precedence that corrupt judges CAN and WOULD be dragged through the mud. It will also create fear that the EFCC is really watching.
Yes there may be free chest beating and few political grumbling but that will only be for a short time while the effect/precedence set good or bad will last for a very long time.
I think I am for the rejection and humiliation to set an example that no one is too big for the law to deal with. The problem we face is multi-layered. For a long time the Executive arm of Government was operated as a mafia cocoon with exthortion and racketeering practices left and right. We should congratulate ourselves for doing the right thing and rejecting Atiku and PDP. We are on a long stretch to clean up Government and as Buhari expose and terminate each corrupt egg and replaces with spirited and conscentious citizens we will be able to arrive a point in which corruption is very negligible and is not bold. APC has mounted a crusade of discipline for the 9yh Assembly and we should give them helping support with our voices to clean Legislature so that ordinary citizens do not have to struggle and toil ungainfully just to get basic needs of life. |

bixton: Were they not chest beating at the initial time? I still wonder how can the CJN who is a carreer civil servant be playing his job like he's a politician. He ought to know better that the judiciary has a precedence to keep about her officers. I'd expected him to fight to the logical end since he said he is innocent. Can anyone spot the difference in his case and that of Justice Salami? I think we in the SS should put our thinking caps in the right position. You know, the governors were the first out of the block to accuse Buhari, and even tied in APC, of bias and dictatorship. So you are right they have lost the voice of reasoning and capacity to act as peacemakers on the case. The best way out for the CJN is to recruit the AG. Onnoghen's character is whats questioned, his judicial capacity is not in doubt, he is still a career judge. Therefore The AG, Mallami, can act as a professional witness to catalogue and brief the President on the career path of a lawyer and a judge, and why coming to a compromised deal might be better than a dead-end ruling. Another option will be for Onnoghen to seek support from SANs in SW. I say this because Yoruba Lawyers command great respect and reverence from Government and SW is a partner in the Administration. Both options will pay off greatly. By all means Mr Onnoghen should please put his ego and self to side for now and think about his family. This case could end with him going to prison. It will devastate the family. If I had capacity to speak influentially on his behalf I will do so for sake of his family. He appears to be a loving husband and father, he should be punished for his errors but he should not be condemned totally and denied his entitlements. We want criminals to learn and adjust from their lessons, if we are cruel in the sentencing the chance to make correction will be lost. |

Kinikini: If you want this country to make progress, you will want to support the total humiliation of all corrupt people most especially the judges to deter corruption that has led the country to this abyss. If the revered judges who we run to for justice in the face of oppression and tyranny sell judgment, the country becomes a jungle where the highest bidder procures the juiciest judgment. You may claim they have nothing to prove his corruption but he cannot provide verifiable sources of the money found on him and the burden of proof is on him to prove the money is not from bribes. Absolutely! I agree. Onnoghen took advantage of Lady Liberty's blindfold. I do not want to take the pain of finding out if Onnoghen had sat as a judge and decided election trials in the past. If this Onnoghen case happened in US lawyers will revisit cases ruled by him and resubmit briefs to get their clients out of prison or awarded some relief if the penalty was monetary. |

Ambode just did a prelaunch of FTZ and foreigners and Nigerians are already buying interest and ready to get to business. People are lined up to snatch up space at more value than you can afford and these are not Ibos. Yorubaland is known historically as a land of milk and honey. The Arabs came to it to trade, Malians came to it, Ashantes, Syrians, Morroccans, Lebanese, Hausas, Tapas, Kanuris, Binis, Europeans, Fulanis, Urhobos, Itshekiris, Ijaws....no problem. You came behind everyone else and became nuisance. I think you suffer from withdrawal symptoms. People behaviorals can dramatically change against norm where their dependency on a particular substance has been curtailed and or is no longer available. Ending cannibalism and your dependency on human meat for protein has resulted in a negative outward behavior. |

In the era when Yoruba merchants were spread across West Africa, North Africa, East Africa, Europe, Arabia....Ibo was still in darkness, laying ambush, kidnapping and trapping his fellow man for meat. Their presence everywhere in this era is forced on them due to improverished and deficient resource. If he is allowed to resign as the CJN he can remain in practice as a lawyer until retirement and his entitlement kicks in. If his resignation is rejected he can opt for early retirement but if that is also rejected then he is in deep trouble. An indictment will de-bar and de-robe him, his entitlement is canceled and he could be sentenced to prison.
Its important that SS Governors lead a team to Buhari to concede Onnoghen's error and plead for mercy on him. |

Tinubu added that he had to intervene when the popular ASPAMDA market and other markets dominated by the Igbos were faced with threats of demolition.
The party leader said he took the step to save the markets to protect the interests of the traders who are mainly from the South East.
Tinubu said the party would be monitoring election results from Igbo-dominated areas like Amuwo-Odofin, Ojo, Ajeromi-Ifelodun, and Surulere in anticipation of votes for APC by the people of the South East in the state. |
