The Yoruba people are an ethnic group of West Africa. The Yoruba constitute close to 40 million people in total, found predominantly in Nigeria, where they make up around 21% of its population or roughly 35 million in 2012, making them one of the largest ethnic groups of Sub-Saharan Africa. The majority of the Yoruba speak the Yoruba language. While the majority of the Yoruba live in western Nigeria, there are also substantial indigenous Yoruba communities in the Republic of Benin and Togo. Comparatively numerous Yoruba diaspora communities are found in the United States and the United Kingdom. One hundred years ago a German researcher followed the trail of Atlantean Africa. Leo Frobenius, German ethnologist and explorer, a specialist in Yoruba culture, has written a major and rare book, "Atlantis, mythology and culture", from which are taken the following quotations: In every life there is that moment when one finds his sacred thread. For Frobenius, this was the meeting with a "Black from West Coast of Africa" who told him: "In my country, every man is, by seniority, a large stone." Suddenly converted, Frobenius grabbed his sacred thread that guided him through the ancient Yoruba culture. He collected facts, festivals and fairies. "It did not take me less than nine to ten years to fully understand this sentence", he confessed. Every man carries within him, unconsciously, the memory of ancient civilizations. Similarly, the rock is a fragment of the memory of the world." Carl Gustav Jung Leo Frobenius made an astonishing parallel between the Etruscans and the Yorubas. For him, Etruria and Yoruba country were two provinces of a very old "Atlantic civilization" he identifies with Plato's Atlantis. The Etruscans, a little known people, direct descendant of Megalithics and Atlanteans, were installed in northern Italy before Romans. The Yoruba country, the ancient gold coast, corresponds to the current Nigeria, plus Benin, and Togo. Frobenius stresses that the two countries, though far apart, share "this fundamental idea of the lightning spurting from the sixteen regions of the sky." He mentions this "lightning conception that the Etruscans transmitted to the Romans." The sixteen great gods whose homes are in the sixteen divisions of the sky,are common to Etruscans and Yorubas. That is why the cities were divided in sixteen districts reflecting the celestial homes and the personality of their sixteen divine occupants. "All this is the projection of sixteen archetypal figures: the sixteen figures of the Oracle of Fa, itself derived from the ancient geomancy." The Oracle of Fa does not refer to the music note but to the goddess Fa or Ifa, one of the sixteen Yoruba deities. Fa governs clairvoyance and divination through a ritual that is still practiced. The other deities of Yorubas remind of the Greek, Etruscan and Aztec gods : Uranus is Obatalla, the god of heaven; Hephaestus is Ogun, god of the forge; Zeus is Shango, the god of thunder and lightning, with his unique destiny: Shango hanged himself. Come on! Aren't the Yoruba gods immortal? The god Shango hanged himself, then he left this reality level to live his death, as the good spirit he was. Where is the problem? The gods are men like us. Remember that the Yoruba country knows the loas sorcerers and zombies: voodoo and macumba come from there. Here everyone is descended from one of the sixteen deities, according to his date of birth. All his life, he will worship his tutelary deity. But there is neither caste nor clan system, as the different children in a family may be descended from different deities. In this specific case, tradition is not a social obstacle, but an asset. Anyone can enrich his family with his own inner wealth, from his own tradition. It is the central orixá of the Brazilian Candomblé, which is found in voodoo under the name of Papa Legba or Exou, Esou, Exu, Bara, Legba, Elegbara, Eleggoua, Alouvaiá, Bombo, Njila, Pambou, Njila. It is found in Benin and in the ancient kingdom of Dahomey in Ondo, Ilesa, Ijebu, Abeokuta, Ekiti, Lagos. The Etruscans, for the little we know, followed a similar religion. Should we see here a true astrological religion based on sixteen signs instead of twelve? In any case, it is certainly a memory of Atlantis, homeland of the Etruscans and the Yorubas.

TWELVE CRITICAL POINTS TO BEAR IN MIND 1 - Fulani had knowledge of Yoruba far much earlier that the Dan Fodio Jihad in Hausaland. 2 - As a nomadic tribe their path through lands would naturally be along fertile banks of the River (Niger). 3 - Their migratory trek through these lands would be seasonal and expansive and also repetitive across generationst. 4 - As a result their knowledge of the georgrapgy, the lands and the people across Sudan will be of significance. 5 - The result of sojourning with the different peoples indigenous to those lands provides them priviledged access to oral history and customs across the entire belt. 6 - They had the tariqi (Yoruba - oriki; English - chain link or genealogy) of the different races along the river banks. 7 - They would have no knowledge of the forests people or the events, unless news of it is brought to them by the people of the forest belt themselves. 8 - Traditionally Fulani was not a State Ruler and in fact had no State Sovereignty, they were scattered nomads existing mostly as guests within States in the Sudan. They had pockets of settlements and camps here and there distributed under powerful Kingdoms and Empires. 9 - The political capital of Yoruba State in Old Oyo was North of Ilorin towards Jebba. Jebba is on the bank of the Niger. 10 - Fulani Jihad turned around in Nupeland and never entered into Yorubaland. 11 - Fulani did not have Kings and still do not. Sultan is a Islamic title, not an ethnic one. Emir or Amir (Yoruba - Aremo) is an equivalent of the English Duke, the heir to the Throne. 12 - The Sultanate is the throne but this throne is customarily an ethnic one called Sarki and belonging to Hausa. Fulani retained the symbolic power of Hausa Sovereingty and changed its name and succession order. 318. The people of Yoruba catch slaves from our land and sell them to the Christians so we are told. I mention this to stop people selling Moslem slaves to them, because of those who buy them. Harm will result from this. Sultan Muhammadu Bello ruled from 1817 to 1837. The Afonja rebellion in Ilorin occurred in 1824 and in the reign of Bello. Here it is evident the Sultan did not mind Yoruba enslaving his people he just abhors the point that they end up in Christian hands. He is talking from a religious perspective. The Jihadists creed forbade non-believers (Kaffirs) from catching or trading in Muslim slaves. So why were Yorubas exempted from the kaffir grouping? 317. Now in this country of Yoruba there are many wonderful things. Mallam Yoruba was a model society that intrigued and inspired scholarship. The Jihadists would attack and and bring ruin to those who their faith supposedly condemned. They reverred and looked up to those they considered of sacred Tariqi. Did Muhammad Bello and Mohamman Masani consider Yoruba to be a people of sacred order? 316. In the land of Yoruba are found the birds green in colour which are called ‘Babaga’ in Arabic and which we call ‘Aku’. It is a bird which talks and is beautiful. Muhammad Bello was informed through Arabic and Hausa languages. His audience are equally these two. As a ruler, his information feed would be supplied by a pool of believing (not kaffirs) scholars and elites. 315 and they travelled between Masar [Misr, i.e. Egypt] and Habash [= Ethiopia] until they reached Yoruba. It happened that they left a portion of their people in every country they passed. It is said that the Sudanese who live up on the hills [i.e. the Nigerian Plateau] are all their kindred; so also the people of Yauri are their kindred. The Sudanese who live up on the hills are the Jukuns, descendants of NOK civilization. Muhammed Bello extols Yoruba greatness and ties Jukun and Yauri to the Yoruba tariqi. It is noteworthy that he did not tie Bini people to Yoruba. Bini is in the forest....see point 7 above. 314 Now the reason of their having This explains many things. 1...Qahtan occurs in the tariqi of Arabs and so did Yarub. The genealogy or chain link of the Arabian people places Qahtan as their progenitor. 2...Oyo, Ijebu, Ijesha, Ekiti, Awori, Igbira, Egba, Owu, and so on, are the actual tribal camps that left Canaanite (which at one point was under occupation of the Babylonians) to settle in sub-Saharan Africa. They were not known or called Yorubas. 3...The event and the reason they vacated became the marker stamp (Yaarubu) to distinguish them from others. Yaarubu later became Yoruba. Example of this is not unique to Yorubas alone. The people called Arab themselves are so distinguished because of their descent chain from Yarub! Why were they not called Ishamelites, like Israelites, a people that were also distinguishly named from Israel? Yoruba is a component of assorted Hebraic roots, banded together under a single label marked by the history of our encounter with Yarub. There is a recognition of us belonging amongst the nations of the Holy Order. This may point to why it is okay for Yoruba to catch, own and trade muslim slaves but forbidden for the white Christian who the Jihadist consider kaffir. 313 The people of Yoruba are descended from the Kanaana The Sultan says "according to what we are told". He is the Head of the Emirate, no one shares power with him. So who is the WE? This had to be a recall, possibly of accounts of narration told to himself and other princes undergoing training and learning of the State protocols and reminding of powerful States they must maintain in relationship and diplomacy. But who is doing the teaching? The Sultanate scholarship is all about Arabia and Islam and therefore the teacher had to be a import from that land or from Mali, the paramount seat of Sufism in The Sudan. It is false to ascribe the claim of Yoruba root to Canaan and Nimrud as a bias originating from Yoruba muslims. Yorubas know more of Odu Ifa than they do the Quran and the traditions of Islam. Yoruba muslims do not posess the privilege and advantage Fulanis have serving as a human library for the history of West Africa and its people. This connection of Yoruba to Canaan and Nimrud is authentic and the broadcast of this knowledge did not originate from Yoruba but rather from the travelling Fulani and their Islamic scholars and Rulers. Also, Muhammad Bello did not teach Yoruba of its history; a version of what he shared existed with the Araba of Ile Ife and had been passed down generation to generation until John Wyndham took the dictates and published into a book called The Myths of Ife. In that book the ancients talked about crossing a river believed to be Jordan and then wandering through the desert wilderness into the forests. 312 Borgu and Gurma. Further recalling the teachings told to them about Kingdoms and States to hold in diplomatic alliance. b) [p.16] The country of Yoruba is extensive and has streams and forests and rocks and hills. There are many curious and beautiful things in it. The ships of the Christians come there. Again sharing the intrigues of Yorubaland and its modelling as a blessed land. It is believed in the Quran that those who Allah is pleased with he Blesses them and their abode is in paradise. Further highlighting the strong belief at the Sultanate that Yoruba is indeed a member of the Holy Sacred as proven by the magnificent of their land as a model of paradise, so much so that even the Christians (believed to be kaffirs by the Jihad creed) sail from far away and make a stop there. 311 These are Zamfara and Kebbi, Yauri, Nufi [Nupe], Yoruba, Outlining further the diplomatic circle and allies for security and political consideration.

Absolute, Ibaa o! My salutations to contributors. Guys, I bow in awe of your enlightenement and sacrifice. This is Great! I read the opening from Negro and at first it came to me literally but on second reading it began to reveal itself to me and then on the third reading it came out with clarity. If you truly want to appreciate what Sultan Bello said there you should read it from bottom up without the footnotes. I will re-format it to follow the bottom-up order. 318. The people of Yoruba catch slaves from our land and sell them to the Christians so we are told. I mention this to stop people selling Moslem slaves to them, because of those who buy them. xerxes2001:Xerxes, During coronation of current King what role in the long rituals did Ogiamien play? Also, in a council seating, between Oba and Ogiamien whose staff is positioned as flagbearer at the sitting? |
By the way, Im marrying into Offa, hometown of Moremi. Before anything else, let me pay respect and praise my in-laws. ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q30eNk0j4OI |
Now to put the puzzle of moremi together, the name comes to play: what secret is encoded in the name moremi? The word simply says 'child bought breath'. So how does this echoed in yoruba mytholology?Mmmm..... Rrrrrr.... Mmmm.... ------------------ Ma Me Me Mo Mo Mu Mi The 5th value - Mo ------------------ Ra Re Re Ro Ro Ru Ri The 2nd value - Re ----------------- Ma Me Me Mo Mo Mu Mi The 7th value - Mi ----------------- M is cyclic or reproduced life or energy (continuity) R is heavenly, deified, divine, mystery (veiled from eye) M is, again, a life or energy in continuity The vowels - o - e - i are qualifiers to the principal energy. o is cyclic and infinite element e is transcendental i is grounded. ![]() Do you see it? I am surprised Moremi was never deified in Yoruba Mythology. |
I see you cc'd terracotta. That's amusing. ![]() I read someone here some few weeks or so ago, asked question about the Aare Crown in coincidence with the celebration of Ooni appearing in public with it. The question related with Aare Crown and High Priest Aaron. I had not much data and was rationing the few left so I did not respond. I just checked, the question has still not been answered. It is very upsetting, Prexios, that those who profess expertise and specialty in Linguistics and History hide behind the screen and refuse the controversy on legitimate questions of shared history and language between Yoruba and Semitic. They all abscond when a self-evident truth pops out. They are back out to fight and extinguish theories that support and prop the truths for more revelations. It's a shame! Anyway...it is great pleasure to see my brother again doing well and in glorious blessing. May Edumare stretch the years of growth and wellbeing for you to las beyond lifetime, Ase. |
A repost.... Macof and 9jacrip, How old is the theory that Yoruba belongs in the Niger-Congo class of languages? Before the inception of that theory, which class did the language belong? |
I do not have much to say on this topic. It is instructive to know that after the uproar and rebuke following Ooni kneeling in Church to pray, His Majesty has not repeated that error. This shows that he listens to his followers and is responsive to their sentiments. I expect that he will self-correct and this mistake will not be repeated by him. It is pleasing to know we have a King that listens to us and conduct himself in harmony with what matters to us. We should let the matter rest now, please. ![]() |

We have to adopt a new mindset if we want to promote and project the traditional belief system and its arts and symbols. If the Chinese left Buddha to exist only in wood he might not have become the household name it is today. Same for Krishna. They present them with reverence using materials of value, like gold, marble, stone, and so on. They codify their use and placement and it becomes an institution. So you cannot just place a statue of Buddha anywhere that meets your fancy, NO. Placement is guided by a set of philosophy and principles of living and aesthetics. We should take note. |
Olori is very regal in all her facial expressions, in smile and in reflections! |
Man is a creature of God and therefore he depends on Gods power, on something superior to himself. This dependency on God is demonstrated through spiritual and action directed towards Olodumare. Such acts are those that originate from love, reverence, faithfulness, honesty, prayers, ritual, sacrifices, initiations and fasting. These are all actions that facilitate harmony, not only between man and God but amongst making in general. O, we see from this that it is through prayer and fasting we approach God directly. We need to develop holiness (i.e. cultivating iwa pele) so we through prayer and meditation can lift our mind and soul to connect with his supreme energy. Only in this way can our supplications, petitions and prayers be accomplished without hindrance or human made obstacles. God himself speak to us, through dreams, visions, signs and many other spiritual means. We have said that prayer and fasting is important tools for connecting with God and this recommendation is from the odu iretekanran that says: IRETE OKANRAN, LO DIFA FUN ORUNMILA BABA AGBONMIREGUN NI OJO TI GBOGBO AWO FI PADE SILE OLU-AWO, IFA SO WIPE KI ORUNMILA KI ONI ISERA, KI O GBAWE SULE LONI, KIO LE BORI OTA, KI O SI REYIN OLODI, ORUNMILA GBO, O GBAWE, OGBADURA, O SINI SERA, LOJO NAA NI ORUNMILA BORI AWON ONISE IBI TI O FE SEKU PA ORUNMILA, O SI REYIN ODI. The meaning of this Odu is: Irete Okanran made divination for Orunmila, Baba Agbonniregun on the day when all the sons of the secret (Babalawos) were gathering in the house of the chief diviner. Irete Okanran advised Orunmila to make a fast and engage in prayer the whole day, to not eat or drink anything at the gathering. He would do this in order to gain victory over his enemies and those adversaries conspiring against him. He heard the advice and did as prescribed. He fasted and prayed until the day dawned and as a consequence he conquered adversities and gained victory over his enemies. The fasting and prayer was directed to Olodumare and the 'Lord of Life'. It was Olodumare that came to Orunmilas aid and made it possible for him to gain victory. The tool used for making this possible was Ifá divination. By learning Ifá you will gain access to the ancient and solid way of communicating with Olodumare and all his divinities and gain insight in the solutions for bringing good fortune into your life. http://akamara.com.br/cosmology_id1.htm |
I did not bother to go through pages of responses to see and appreciate contributions from different quarters, for me the title alone says it all. What NONSENSE glorifying an ignoble race of people. Beside acting as proxies for Arabs to decimate and desecrate the glorious black cultures and their native roots, in what ways can we credit Fulani as contributors to the doctrines of African philosophies? , you need enlightenement on African history. |
Whoever reproduced this brass work is doing dis-service to the kingdom. This work originally is Yoruba sacred art from Ile Ife, because the thrones of Ife and Bini are related, I expect that what is found in the priesthood of one will, quite naturally, exist in that of the other. Because this art is connected with sacredness of the throne reproductions such as this must be regulated and only done through commission and for usage of the court. The grace and pride that would naturally attend to this art has been abused and where one should see virtue and reverence, instead we are treated to vanity and commercialization. Shame! |
Today marked an important event on the Bini soil, procession for funeral rites of an Oba, as well the march forward on the coronation of his successor. It is the transformation cycle of life and death, symbolically represented by an orb in perpetual spin around a 360 degrees pre-ordained pathway. May the soul of the Oba rest with his ancestors. May the reign of the new Oba be prosperous and a success for Bini. Ise e!! Oba gha to'kpe re e Ise e! |
No not at all. This isn't about agreements but to drill down and unravel more facts on the topic of origin, particularly using place names and oriki....which I know you are very good at. You have mentioned for me to talk about the Ogori/Magogo and connection with Ugari and Gog and Magog. I cannot jump to Gog/Magog without first laying foundation for who they are how their story was distorted and why Ogori/Magogo is the remnans of migrants from Ugari, the ancient city of Magog. So, no, not looking for consensus at all on the story of origin. Anyway, let's fast forward....do you happen to have oriki for Ogori/Magogo people? |
That's easy! The idea that the Lamurudu story started with Sultan Bello and then repeated by Johnson is false. I have pointed this out many times already. Sultan Bello was a scholar and a very important ruler in the Sudan, he could have assigned authority of the story to himself and get credit for it but instead said "It is told that....". In other words, the source of the story belongs elsewhere. We need to find where or who was the chain of communication in relaying this story to Sultan. In his time, who were the cultures and people that the Sultan would be in contact and exchange ideas with? Not only was he exchanging ideas, he also trusted the source, otherwise he would not himself have transmitted the story, considering the implication to his own leadership and position if the story was bogus. In addition to the Black Emperors in the Sudan, the Arabs, the Moors....can you think of anyone else the Sultan would have in his circle of exchange? There is no controversy in Ooni's palace, the seat of Oduduwa authority, about Lamurudu being the ancestor of Oduduwa. Neither is it disputed in Oyo palace, the seat of Oraminyan. The fact Lamurudu does not have a token in Yorubaland supports my position, and does not invalidate the theory that he fathered Oduduwa and the father remained behind while the son migrated out of Afroasia. If Lamurudu had migrated out he would have tokens all over the place. Luwa never migrated either but Ifa started with him and since Ifa was brought with the migrants we have the memory of Luwa. Ifa teaches uprightness, which is synonymous with the character modeled by Luwa himself. Not to digress from the point but I would like you to know that Ifa did not start on the soil of Yorubaland. It started with Luwa in Afroasia. The Ark is thought to be a physical structure , a boat built to house people and animals. That was a crypted message the true Ark is the Iroke. Some people say the Ark is Aroko. Ifa is survival, bottom line that's what the Ark is. So if Luwa is connected in Yoruba ancestry and Oduduwa is also connected, the link between the two of them, Lamurudu must be recognized as a valid link in the ancestral chain. Lamurudu was not donated through Islamic religion, in fact Islam itself borrowed from Yoruba culture. The rites of Ifa, which Yoruba had practiced for centuries before Judaism, Christianity and Islam, and which we still have today seeded many rites in the prayer habits or belief system of the Abrahamaic religions. They learnt about Lamurudu from Yoruba, not the other way around. |
Sorry if its a little bit disjointed, in a rush for time. |
Let us not worry about Yoruba yet, let us put focus on our progenitors. I list them as follows: Luwa/Lua Lamurudu Oduduwa In Yoruba consciousness the chain of descent is attributed up to LUWA/LUA. There is no account anywhere that he ever set foot in Yorubaland, but we know his Ark settled around river Euphrates. Lamurudu, who was also called Marduk and sometimes addressed as Sargon, had several children, two of them Oduduwa and Inanna (Yam) will be the connecting dots between Nineve and Ile Ife. Oduduwa and Yam led allied tribes out of Afroasia into Yorubaland. Yam also was addressed as Sargon and was deified. The totem authority of the Sargons is the embodiment of the cult Asherat, which Yoruba call Ashe. I am not sure but I suspect that the Sargon authority and power is behind the 7 State dynasties established by Oduduwa, in addition to the Empires of Ife and Oyo. Yam Sargon, called Iyami Osoronga, owned the Imperial authority or "the Sovereign Ashe". I need to look deeper into whether the water deities Yemoja, Oya, Osun....all have roots in her. So to loop back to your point, unless we can account for Luwa and Lamurudu in Yorubaland, Im going to say no....Yoruba beginnings started in Afroasia. |
Where it pertains to the question of origin, one is pressed to find evolutions in the usage of root words, etymology of words and accents and transitions in lexicon. Take for example "origin" itself, which in Yoruba is "iregun", meaning a time marker. Which of these versions, origin or iregun, would have been in use in the time of Noah? Could "Lua" be the authentic name of the Ark builder, whcih in the course of recording may have been mispellled "Noah" due to the accent of the scribe? To find evidence of this flaws go to Lagos and inspect names of streets and areas left in error due to accent and misspelling by the Portuguese and British administrators of that colony. There is no letter C in Yoruba, so how did Dosunmu become Docemo? There is no double consonant in Yoruba, so how did Ebute Meta become Ebute Metta, or Ido become Iddo....how did Ota become Otta? Worse, they misspelled Ashogbon, a high ranking Chief in the tradition of Lagos and called him Acheambong! Is Agboniregun not the same as Aborigene? Which version was in use in time of Noah? Is Ile Ife not the same as Nineve? Which version would have been in use during Noah's time? Between Moremi and Maryam, which is authentic version? What the Assyrians called Hittite, the Egyptians called Isis, both are same deity figure. Is Isis same as Isise? Some deities have different names depending on the culture in which they are reverred. I found for instance that Oduduwa was known by different names depending on which culture was addressing him. Oduduwa - Yoruba Baal Hadad - Canaan Haddu - Ugari Dod - Assyria Adad - Akkadia Adodo - Ugari |
I have very strong evidence to believe the Ogori people are a part of the migration caravan led out of Assyria by Oduduwa. Does anyone have the Oriki of the Ogori people? If someone does please post it here for me. So far I have arts and even culture and names that tie the Ogori people with the ancient civilization of Ugari in AfroAsia region. The Oriki will help me clarify on some artifacts I am inspecting. Thanks. |
Lamurudu was a mighty man and a man of God, a descendant of Noah, through Ham, through Canaan. There are many atrocities committed by mankind and for which God's wrath was placed on them, not on their generations but just on the offenders. Matter of fact, for all cases of punishment in the Bible God's warning precedes consequence, and never was a people punished without first being admonished to change ways and fear God. The greatest oppressor of Children of Israel, Pharaoh, received several warnings and to even remove doubts the presence of God was dramatized to him in his palace. When his rebellion continued God started to punish in his own children and waited for him to repent before the next punishment is descended. So what gravity of wrong doing could Ham have done unto his father to call for such a curse that would last eternity in his generations through Canaan? No warning, no admonition, no call for repent, no forgiveness, no second chance....till date the so called Hamitic Curse persists. Is there truly a curse or did the chroniclers of the Bible played a fast one and bent truth and historical facts to displace a mighty people and race from power and dominion over the human race? Here is the account of the chroniclers as recorded in the Torah of the Children of Israel. This is the Children of Israel telling us what was decreed by Noah, a man of God. If God went through many corrective steps to turn people around....why is this man of God become ungodly in his response to an atrocity committed by his own blood and flesh? This should call for introspect, should it not? Note that not only was the curse documented as punishment but also that the descendants of Shem and Japheth were also elevated and apponted as "masters" over the descendants of Canaan and this role of supervision and superiority is legitimized as a decree warranted in justice to the wrong of Ham. 20 And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard: 21 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent. 22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the unclothedness of his father, and told his two brethren without. 23 And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the unclothedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's unclothedness. 24 And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him. 25 And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren. 26 And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant. 27 God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant. |
Hmmm...nice input! Lamurudu is an authentic Yoruba legend. My brother, no disrespect to Christianity but the Bible needs a review...it's missing certain historical facts. There are gaps in the Biblical accounts pertaining to certain individuals, Lamurudu is one of those individuals. The Bible contains two scriptures combined into one - The Torah and the Gospel. The Torah can be further sub partitioned into Laws, Deeds, Traditions, Cults and so on and so forth...it is much much older than any tribe of Israelite or their progenitor - Father Abraham. The first Law to mankind was the order to Adam on the DOs and DONTs in the garden of Eden. The first Deed of mankind was the conflict of interest between Cain and Abel. The first Tradition was the spiritual union between Adam and Eve. The first Cult of mankind was the formulation of the Ark and its corpus. Every one of these order is much older than the beginning of Israelite or the seeding of their nation. So considering this, how is it then that the theme and central most important figure in the Torah is "Children of Israel"? Why couldn't the Torah address all of "mankind"? There is another observation on this central theme sorrounding "Children of Israel". Any King or Mighty man that antagonized "Children of Israel" was demonized and malevolently portrayed as anti-God. |
Prexios, New discoveries to share on the topic of origin. You are invited for an interactive discussion to shed light and clarify on some unresolved questions. 1. The farthest we can go up the tree is Lamurudu. 2. History places him in Afroasia 3. Authoritative accounts connect Yoruba roots to him via Oduduwa. 4. Did Lamurudu ever set foot anywhere in Yorubaland? 5. If so where? 6. If not, where did he seed Oduduwa and how did the two, father and son, separate? Looking forward to a rich and lively interchange. |
absoluteSuccess: ![]() I remember making similar plea and so out of respect for you I will let it bounce. By the way, some of what is recorded by history for Kings names are actually labels for extolling their might. Example, Sargon and Marduk. In times past in Yoruba household a male child named after the head of the household, the father, is called by an attribute of physical appeal. It is considered disrespectful to call him by given name. The same is extended to female child by wives that came in the household behind her mother. We will talk more about this in the other thread when I retutn next week. Enjoy weekend! |
absolutesuccess, I appreciate your input. I am not reconstructing anyone's history. It is imoossible to accomplish such feat from a mere online writing unsecured by a scholarship or peer sponsorship. I am researching deep into Yoruba history and arrived at a point where it branched off into other cultures. I took note of that, not even intending to introduce it here at all. I have had this infornation since June 2015. If it was my intention to shape anyone's view I would long ago have opened thread to narrate my discovery. Between June 2015 and January 2016 I have seen you mentioned "Ebora" several times, I would have since taken liberty to mention that the Hausa spiritual "Bori" is an equivalent. I would have shared that Yoruba's "Arokin" has "Maroka" as the Hausa equivalent. These and many many more parallels between the two and none of these equivalents have anything whatsover to do with influence from Islam. I kept my mouth shut because I am not Hausa, my focus is on Yoruba. However, there is nothing too hard to comprehend on the structure and heirarchy of Hausa traditions. What brought about this thread was I saw another thread in which Yoruba and Hausa were going back and forth on who was noble and who was not. I only meant to correct the misperception. However, given the bad and arrogant attitude of the opponent Ive decided to do a more elaborate and broad narrative on Hausa beginning. The opponent has no capacity to stop it. He can make noise to his satisfaction, which I will ignore. |
