RomanceRe: Dear Women, Men Don't Like You. by Michael820(m): 10:02am On Feb 05, 2022
Ladycewhy:
Yes you heard me right, men don't like you, they like your biological makeup ,they may like the fact that you have a vagina , womb and breasts but as a fellow human being , they don't like you.

Let's look back at history, in the days of old, Virgin girls were a thing for sacrifices and blood gift to the gods, then came the snatching of babies frome their mothers all in the name of twins was an abomination, then there was the selling of their daughter all in the name of bride price and the only time she was allowed to return to her father's house was in a body bag.

Still in doubt if men like you as a human first?

Ok then came the widow maltreatment, then there was a concensus to mutilate the vagina of women just to keep them under control, then came the refusal to allow them go to school. Still in doubt?

Do you still doubt the anti women campaign going on in this forum and even on the streets? Have you checked the ratio of ritual killing and see that women are the most victims?Have you heard the phrase " daughters of eve, fish brain, after devil fear women?" Well I am sure you atleast get the picture .
while you made some excellent point, there are a lot of flaws in your arguments, I totally agree that woman have not been treated fairly in the past but things are definitely improving and not admitting that is a deceit

You mentioned that virgin are used as sacrifice, while that’s true for Nigerian culture in some cultures men are there prime human sacrifice, the Aztecs for example. But This as almost been eradicated in today society.

Snatching of babes is a weak point too as we both know this twins gender does not matter, unless your argument is that the father of the twins does not feel the pain of losing his twins to sacrifice? And if that’s your argument, then are you saving men are unable to care for anyone but themselveshuh?

Bride price is a cultural thing which is paid by the woman in some cultures, while I agree that people should be allowed to leave any unsatisfactory union(which is a thing today), this is not a testimony to woman hatred it’s mostly a cultural thing as woman are seen as a thing of value and the groom should pay for having such a privilege of getting it..

Mutilation of vagina is absolute garbage as men get circumcised too.

About the school thing, it stems from the belief that girls are married off to her husband and whatever investment on her will be reaped by her new family and not the parents, but people are now realizing that this thought process is wrong and it’s mostly ladies that take care of their aged parents not necessarily the men.

And all this issue of equality stems from the role society led out for us, not generally an individual or genetic problem as you want us to believe. It’s just like saying men hate men because man send men to war to die. And I hope you don’t think your dad hates you just because of gender, and looking around and seeing a lot of happy family is also a testament that men love women, Infact our whole life is dedicated to showing this love.

While I don’t want to take anything away from woman struggle and abuse in the hands of men, I think “hate” is a strong word to describe how all men feels towards woman, i for one love woman and envy them sometimes.

What was the review exactly? Was it online or in a forum or word of mouth?

I am not sure you have another accredited test centres in Ibadan apart from UCH... Whether they do a fit to travel or PCR or could deliver result in 48 hours - I don't know?

Let the Forum know how you got on, so others can learn
I saw the review here https://www.nairaland.com/6342475/anyone-recommend-other-covid-19-test.

I have taken my test with them today though, there is no other alternatives in Ibadan.

Finger crossed.

RomanceRe: Uneducated Men Who Sponsor Ladies To School With Intention Of Marriage by Michael820(m): 10:29am On Dec 17, 2020
tobechi74:
Help anyone achieve her dream . But she does not owe you anything in return. I have heard cases of men insisting their wife paid them half of her salary because she sponsored her education. That mindset should be abolished. She does not owe a guy marriage because he sponsored her education.
If she no longer finds him suitable for marital commitment, she can bail out at any time. She must not marry you the guy as payment for debt owed.

If you want to invest in her, draft a contract first and state the terms and conditions. Then enforce them in a law court. Then, this is a contract and not done out of love.
I like the way you think, very factual and concise.
Let everyone know what they are getting into. I really don’t believe in love though, I believe it’s mostly because of the benefits we get from the other partners that make us love them. The benefit could be little things like their sense of humor, beauty, yansh, brain power etc. human beings are innately selfish, it’s just who we are.

PenuelFarms:
Most Christians, outside of the US, supporting Trump began after his election having learnt that he got there through the support of the Evangelical Christians.

In the US, majority of voters are objective, including Christians. Aside the constant disagreements with the Democrats regarding some Biblical beliefs which they hold as sacrosanct, Trump had to organize a meeting with them where shared his beliefs and manifesto which they readily bought into. And that was it.
Well some valid points there, but they should stop making it a religious decision and more of personal conviction

If the church had supported Atiku in 2019, Nigeria's situation would not be this precarious.

God can use anything. God called Kings Darius & Nebuchadnezzar 'My servant" but they are Babylonian Kings.
I know, but can’t God also use Biden too?

That’s not even my problem, my issue is the way they carry him like he’s the messiah and the prophesy must be fulfilled that bothers me.

Most pastors didn’t even do this much for Nigeria politics, they would rather not be involved then why change of heart this time.

Hi guys.

I will be sponsoring my study by myself, I am wondering if there is any questions I should be prepared for so I don’t get caught off guard. Most of the approval stories have seen so far had someone sponsoring them.

I got GA, so I only have a deficit of 2.5k.

Any contribution will be greatly appreciated.

Hello house,

I have a some question as regards visa appointment, I recently filled the email notification form someone shared for Lagos NIV so as to get notified of new appointment in Lagos Embassy, but when i saw some open spaces for application at abuja embassy i decided to change my venue to Abuja so i could pick the earliest date and request for an emergency appointment.

Now here's my problem, I just got a mail from Lagos Niv that they have schedule an appointment for me for oct 20, but when i checked my portal i can only see my abuja appointment for march 3rd.

I am just very confused right now, should i cancel the abuja appointment and go and repay the application fee or the application fee can still be used for the Lagos Appointment.

Thanks

The people before all of us have kept these visa threads alive and it been a rich source of information. It best to keep it that way
While i understand your point very well, i think the issue(booking visa) we are having now requires some sort of instant messaging so that applicant could easily get information about visa opening. this is the second time i have missed an opportunity to book appointment and i cant be refreshing nairaland every seconds.

Nairaland GeneralRe: Computer Sci With Economics Vs Computer Engr by Michael820(op): 7:41am On Aug 04, 2020
Since I am now a graduate of computer science with economics, and nobody gave enough f*cks to reply my question 5 years ago I think it's left upon me to answer myself.

Dear Mike,

The simple answer to your question is that it doesn't really matter which of the course you decide to take though computer engineering is more difficult than computer science with economics due to the fact that you take more engineering courses so be sure to be prepared for that.

Both of these course have their merit and challenges, I will start with the economics option, with the economics options you get to see the world from two different angles, on one part you get the problem solving skills of computer scientist and you also get the efficient resource management of an economist which seems cool but then these two knowledge hardly intertwine and often feels like you have your head stuck in between two worlds as both have different requirements and grading style.

For computer engineering you are more grounded in the rudiments of how computer works and even how to build one from the scratch, and you also get to have lots of knowledge of other engineering Field so that you can fit in anywhere but this also posses some challenges as it's much more difficult and you have to take alot of other engineering courses which you may find irrelevant.

So if these two courses are so different and offer different knowledge and challenges how can I say it doesn't matter which you take, well this is where the Nigeria factor comes in, nothing works as it's supposed to be and most of the things you need to know or that are relevant still needs to be learnt by you. What do I mean? Most(not all) of what you learn in the classroom will be useless or irrelevant once you leave the four walls of classroom and even the one that are relevant are not even well taught.

So my advice is to take anyone you are comfortable with, build a network of smart friends (bookwise and techwise), learn programming you can start with python, build interesting project, join and be active in programming communities, take algorithm and data structure seriously and finally fall in love.

Kind regards.

Truth is that exchange rate isn't a determinant of how good an economy is. For instance, Ghana cedis exchanges higher than the Chinese currency and Korean won and that doesn't mean Ghana has a better economy. Another example is the Kuwait Dina which exchanges for almost $1000/dinar. During the said time, very few people can afford to buy a car even when it sold for #4000. But we have folks buying used cars today for tens of millions.

Having said the above, it's undeniable that Nigeria didn't have potential back in the day. It's just that we had lots of petrodollars and less population and the government then was able to do her job without borrowing like today. Forget all the glorious tales our parents told us about how quick you can get jobs. That's because there were fewer graduates then. We need total overhaul of this country
God bless you man..I was having a the same argument with a friend some days back..our parents exaggerated the past too much..na why we vote for buhari and except a miracle

You need to understand how things work. Those patients DO NOT want to be shown on TV.. Would you announce your positive status if it were you? They know how ignorant the society is and the stigmatisation that may follow.. The tests cannot be manipulated by anyone. I've former colleagues at both NIMR and 54gene and I'm a microbiologist. These analysts overwork themselves and report what they see. Let's stop all these please..Imagine sacrificing your rest period for overtime in the Laboratory and you hear people calling the figures a scam.
We are killing the spirit of the frontline workers. The government partnered with 54gene and Lifebank to conduct these tests and these are reputable organisations who will not alter results. Why will any government play politics with a disease that killed the COS to the president? Why are Nigerians like this?
Thanks for sharing this...an average Nigerians thinks the government is lying to them...while this is understandable but let try to our own research before coming into conclusion..we have a bad govt but not everything they do is bad I wish people understand this

by the way today's results came in late

If you think Yahaya Bello stands to gain something from standing his ground that there's no case of Covid 19 in Kogi state but think the Federal Government doesn't stand to gain anything from inflating the figures of cases recorded per day then you're a bloody hypocrite and not to be taken seriously on nairaland or anywhere for that matter.

Did Kano reduce their testing capacity or what? They've recorded just 15 cases in 3 days meanwhile Edo state that has 3 times less the population of Kano have recorded twice that in two days.

grin grin

Stay safe my people
You are just spewing trash, and it's just sadden coming from someone who acclaimed himself has a bookworm, did you even read what you wrote.

So let me follow your logic, if FG is gaining something by inflating the number don't you think kogi will want to inflate his own numbers to gain this something too. Or you are saying govt gain something whenever they are dishonest irregardless of the lies.

And back to Kano not number not going up, test in Nigeria is not done for everyone but for people with symptoms, so population does not matter, china has over a billion people and had only about 80k case, us has 300mill and has almost 2mil cases, so what does that tells you.

Now let's go to what govt is gaining from covid cases inflation..the economy is in disarray, these so called politician that you think love incrementing the number can't get out of the country to go and enjoy their money, their local business are hurting cause or the economy downturn.... everyone is losing in this way against corona.
Some more than others though.

Salary earners who have not lost their jobs yet, single people who work online, essential workers, etc, will vote yes. Most others would vote no.

A lockdown is the most brainless way to fight the Coronavirus. Our leaders need to use their wits and imagination to figure out better, smarter ways.

We cannot afford to wreck the economy by locking it down. If we wreck the economy then where will we get the money needed to fight the virus?

Yet, we cannot afford to allow lots of people to get sick and be killed by the virus. The fear of being infected is enough to wreck the economy.

The only way forward is to use face-masks and enforce science-based infection minimization rules to protect lives and also protect the economy.

It is crucial to understand that, as a poor country with a large population, we don’t have the luxury of choosing between saving lives and saving the economy. We must get people back to work, and we must keep them safe.
if there are no people, then there is no economy..you see while it's true that the lockdown will harm the economy but have you ever consider no-lockdown can cause even more havoc

1. if we allow the virus to ravage our population we start to lose a big part of the working population which are the driving force of this economy which you want to save.

2. if people are dropping dead on the street in large numbers do you think people will still go to work, do you think its because of excessive force in Italy that's making people stay indoor or the fear of there lives.

3. this is a new virus that has no cure or vaccine, and we just getting to know how deadly it is.

don't you think trying to reduce its spread as much as possible is a wise decision?
