Yaasir: I can assure you most online adverts work but people don't really know how to go about it. It is even worse when you have to send CV rather than filling online form. I am a living witness of online job applications as well as many of my colleagues. There are simple rules which you have to follow strictly. You mind outlining some of these? |

engrkenny: I have been shying away from posting a reply on here since the topic surfaced earlier today, having somewhat found myself at this same crossroad since passing out of nysc two months ago, I didn't feel worthy to claim to have answers to the concerns raised by those two brothers. Albeit, mine tends to be a matter of ambivalence at the moment, wouldn't want to talk about myself here tho.
My two pence... True life story...
Last two days, I found myself inside a klimanjaro fast food, after a hot and usually exhaustive aptitude test somewhere in the southern part of the country, trying to cool off. Somewhere on the south wall of the restaurant had a board hanging, with a caption "OUR STORY" a short write up about how the klimanjaro most of us used to impress babes those days back in school was a brainchild of a few young Nigerians and bla bla, I bent down and asked myself, so why spend close to 5k on transport and almost sustained a hip dislocation on terrible roads just to sit for another frustration in the guise of a recruitment test? Coincidentally just this same week a cousin of mine quit her IT job at a local fast food place, her reason....stress, guess what, she works in the account section, on probing further she revealed this people make a subtle 900k a day, and it's just one of their many outlets, I smiled and told her she wouldn't understand, she's still in school and would definitely get cash for all her needs including hairdo by September.
Summary of my long story.......I have decided, no more job tests, no more unsolicited cv submissions, and don't mistake me, I don't despise salary jobs, I'll gladly accept to grow working for someone else, but am no longer going to beg for it. I join my voice to that of many young and knowledgeable young people out there to ask......hw can with all my numeracy, all my computer skills, all my analytical skills, good command of English, I am to be put through scorn in the name of recruitment and I have to be grateful if I get one at last?
I have decided to explore my inner self, does it mean with all I know I can't solve any of the problems I join every other person to complain about everyday? There must be something I can do to make some cash and invest same into acquiring some real hands on technical skills, which has always been my passion, while relying totally on God, the giver of all things.
Any like minded youngsters should start developing same mentality too, no matter how difficult that seems. God bless us all. God might grant you those qualities, not necessarily so you can work in a firm but rather to prepare you for their deployment in more critical roles such as in a personal business. If and when you go into your own business, you'll be at the top of your game... And I promise you that few years from now, you'll come back here (if you still remember) to give testimonies of how what you were jumping about looking for had been right in front of your nose all along. Think of what Adeboye's "wasted" years in academics did to his mental acuity in ministry. Think of what Apostle Paul's renegade and overzealous background helped in achieve in linking up and explaining in detail, the major books of the law and writing the longest epistles to his Brethren. Your's is different because, you're going into it in lieu of something better, not because you weren't good at anything else |

barbiesparkz2: But how can -3 + 3 be equal to 6 instead of 0? Type the equation in your scientific calculator and see if you won't get 12. No need for complicating things with the word problem either. I just explained it to him awhile ago |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: 2013 Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) Graduate Trainee by mickey45: 3:02am On Sep 10, 2015 |
dway4ward: 3 + 3 x 3 - 3 + 3
How many good oranges do you have if Dele has 3 and Tosin has thrice Dele's oranges with three of the oranges spoilt from transportation issues and 3 extra as bonus.
Can you all see there is no need to include any brackets? That is the root of the analysis mismatch. Mathematics never lies. Do not impose on it what is not. BODMAS 3+3 x 3-3+3 B- No brackets in the question O- No Of D- No division M- 3+ 9 - 3 + 3 A- 12 - 6 S- 6
I'll leave this thoughtline as is. Apparently 6 is the solution to the equation following basic principles, those with 12 as the answer solved from left to right like in the word problem I described above. This question is simple as we everyone'll agree, much as you quote BODMAS, there's a caveat to the order of operations and its that Whenever you have different operators of the same rank e.g + vs -, * vs / etc, THEN YOU SOLVE FROM LEFT TO RIGHT" Following that, BODMAS'll conform to Logic |

We need this Nigeria to be better and create great opportunities and enabling environment so that our best brains can deliver quickly. Cmon, 2 years recruitment process, that's too much. I learn't they're trying to put on additional trains. One wouldn't know if this could be why they seem to be foot dragging. Moreover, with the recent upheavals in the market, one does not know if that could've been a factor too. Not that I've applied yet though... |

Saifullah01: Nobody scammed anyone. The bailouts were not free after all. It was either a restructuring of existing commercial bank loans into government bonds, or outright purchase of FGN bonds, either ways u pay FGN back. It's left for the state assembly and people to ensure such funds r put to judicious use He shd've asked for money for the right thing he needs (if there's any) not ask for a loan in the name of unpaid salaries when his predecessor didn't owe the workers. After-all he's not going to be there when the loan's being repaid. |

WhiteTechnology: Until we build a strong military power that can produced its own advanced weapons in large quantities, we are at the mercy of Western politics.
That's why the Asians went into weapons technology to protect their sovereignty from Western politics
Me-thinks GEJ was towards the end of his second term leaning towards this philosophy as some of his comments after the elections (if seen in their right lights) pointed towards this direction. Might be why the yankees had to oust him however they could.
I think I'd go with reyginus' opinion here, I.e "control their control' yankees can't afford any renegade leader now, not when the dollar is on threat and definitely not from a country whose trade is almost entirely reliant on their currency.
Remember Ivory Coast. BTW, what do you mean, "remember what happened in Ivory Coast" |

So people on both sides know what they're supporting. Business › Re: Nigeria To Resume Oil Export To United States by mickey45: 12:17pm On Sep 07, 2015 |
989900: This is what I've always advocated for.
If countries with little or no crude like Japan and Singapore could be refining and exporting excess of 3million barrels/day, then WTF are we doing exporting raw crude for cheap?!
When we can be making many times more from refined products, quadrupling our foreign exchange earnings, improving the Naira, probably tripling our GDP while creating tons of industries and jobs.
Way back between 1990/1991 we were earning roughly $150m from refined exported products!
In a normal country, we should be doing multiple times that in 2015, but, hell we can't even refine enough for own use -- we import!
Don't mind them, let them be happy selling their land only to rent rooms from developers |
Business › Re: Nigeria To Resume Oil Export To United States by mickey45: 12:13pm On Sep 07, 2015 |
Mynd44: America's willingness to resume buying oil from us is good and all but not the what interests me most. That India intends to increase their oil imports from Nigeria to $50 billion is the real news here
That is great news And why is that great? Depressing/shaming is what I'll term it. If india which also have some oil has grown to the point of needing more to drive their manufacturing base. While we don't even have a market for refined products yet except, petrol, diesel and other fuels, then it's depressing just as will be equally depressing if the major data driver (don't have complete stats) in this country is social media. |

Reyginus: That's not rational. Whoever does that has self to blame and not Seun. Maybe it is cotton wool up there and not the grey matter for them. It'll to me be a myopic thing to do if one expects the owner of a school to be able to teach all the subjects in that school efficiently, or that the V.C of a Uni. shd be so vast as to be able to teach all courses. Ditto for this |
