Can you provide a reference please?

AFAIK, all certifying authorities that issue code and regs agree that multiple ground rods reduce the effective resistance and therefore increases the effectiveness of earthing. The trick is to space the sunken rods apart 2 to 3 times their depth.

What is frowned upon is isolating the ground rods hence all earth installations in a facility must be bonded together - this is primarily for personnel safety as the ground between two unbonded rods could become a conductor and kill persons or animals caught in the line of fire - apparently this used to happen a lot in the U.K and North America on farms and so on.
Thanks for the clarification. I understand what you meant is you can have multiple earthing rods, but once it is tied together they act as one massive earthing rod, with earthing connected to the nearest rod.

What ojesymsym referred to, is also correct, based on your explanation. Some people use multiple earth rods, which are isolated from each other in the same building, which I understand is what this literature say is "wrong".

In this particular setup, I decided to use 28.2 degree as my primary lnb.

So without adding anything yet, I tracked 28.2 joy tv position.

Then it was time to slot in the coolant tube pipe

This is awesome and very innovative, I have been trying all these years to attach additional LNBs, even bought multi-LNB holder from China, it didn't fit properly. The Chinese Multi-LNB holders are not that suitable for Nigeria elevation.

Thanks once again and remain blessed for sharing this very important idea. wink

WaytoGo:
Thanks so much. You are very much appreciated.
Yes, I got that as the screenshot below confirms what you said. Thanks for that.
Hello WaytoGo, don't be confused.

Satellite signals behave like light rays, the dish face the satellite and the signals are reflected onto the LNB. Picture 1

Satellite signals also behave same as light by obeying the laws of reflection. (You first question)
The law of reflection states that when a ray of light reflects off a surface, the angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection. Picture 2.

To Install multi LNB on a single satellite dish.

Now when you move a dish away from a satellite, you increase the angle of incidence of the satellite signal, the angle of reflection also increases
In a nutshell, if a satellite signal comes from left of the dish, you search for the reflected signal on the right part of the dish. the same is applicable from top, i.e. you get Belintersat 1 at 51.5°E and moves the dish to NigComSat 1R at 42.5°E you have moved the dish up, which has increased the angle of incidence in which case you need to place your LNB above NigComSat 1R at 42.5°E to search for Belintersat 1 at 51.5°E to receive the signal, not below .

Hello, if you are installing Nigcomsat as primary on the dish, once you hit green on DSTV. change to the Nigcomsat frequency and move your dish down and to the right a little, while standing behind the dish. You should pay close attention to your signal bars. if you see a slight increase at any point, blindscan, not successful move the dish again when you see the slight signal increase. try it again.

You can also skew you LNB in little increments, sometimes just 1-degree can make a big difference. wink

Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by microgiant:
ceaser:
The TCL that consumes 135w at full blast may be okay on only one condition: if it has "energy saving" option. With that option, once activated, the consumption may drop to as low as 25 watts depending on the size of the TV. 55 inch Hisense smart that is 125 watts at max consumption drops to around 25 watts at highest power saver. I use 60% power saver and that consumes around 30 watts. The remaining 100 watts can better be channelled to powering other vital appliances instead of just wasting it on TV alone.

PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE THAT TV (ANY TV FOR THAT MATTER) WITHOUT BEING SURE OF THE POWER SAVER OPTION. Better still if you have a wattmeter handy at the point of purchase to determine the consumption at different scenarios.

I know most large screen LG, Samsung and Hisense have that option. But I can't tell for TCL since it is a new brand trying to penetrate the Nigerian market.
I believe it should have, my search on google showed it among the least power guzzlers in test done

55" 4K UHD Smart TV | TCL C6 Series |
I read it is more energy efficient than the previous C5 series.

What can you deduce from this specs

Power Consumption (TV On) 140W
Power Consumption (Standby) ﹤0.5W
ECO Energy Efficiency Yes
Backlight Adjustable Yes (0~100)

It is the cheapest, others - Sony and Samsung are between 30% - 50% higher in price

Also TV is on J U M I A so going with a watt meter to test is not possible.

Good day ladies and gents,

Advise needed, I want to buy a tv, did some research and found TCL 4k Android Smart UHD Edgeless TV which meets my spec and budget. It consumes about 135w at full blast. Is it advisable to purchase it considering I plan to install 5KW inverter.

Also I had in mind to purchase an inverter friendly fridge, but unfortunately the LG fridge model JUO mentioned he bought for 80k and consumes 30w is currently out of stock. In fact, after he mentioned it I searched online and found it on jumia around 130K, but when I was ready to purchase, it was out of stock on jumia and konga. Please advise next possible option.

It seems many people are following this thread silently, and acts on any information posted here. grin

Nigerians can never allow the country function normally without creating avenues for extorting.

solar generators/Water heaters (inverters, water heaters) is 5% Import duty, and VAT Free.
Solar cells in panel form or modules is import duty and VAT free
Yet custom charges duties.

I the case of my my small chinese inverter the cost price (Price + Shipping) was even inflated to charge a higher duty & VAT.

I was charged 20% duty with 5% VAT and another charge of the whole amount, that was before VAT was increased to 7.5%.

Australia’s first mid-air crash in more than a decade claimed four lives yesterday when two light planes on training flights collided high above central Victoria, tumbling in front of bewildered eyewitnesses.

Emergency services staff found wreckage from both planes in separate locations on the ground near Seymour, about 120km north of Melbourne, with the victims trapped after the twin death spirals.

Police Inspector Peter Koger said people had seen the planes fall from the sky after colliding at 4000 feet, with two killed in each plane.

The Startimes dish is still going strong. But the unfriendly Warri weather damaged my H-H Diseqc motor. I have lost about 3-LNBs to the Dec-Feb rain that comes with storm and lightening.

No time to track other sats yet. I plan to attach three more LNBs for Astra 2F at 28.2°E, Eutelsat 16A at 16.0°E and any other.

Second dish is dedicated to Eutelsat 7 West A at 7.3°W for the MBCs. Although I have the MBCs on Nigcomsat, These are stable and always on, plus it has EPG. cheesy

Hello everyone. Please which are the best available FTA sats for 80-90cm dish?

Please guys I need help on this.

This image below is the screenshot showing the eutelsat 36A/B and the only three transponder values that are available I.e 12624/6200/V, 11109/3407/V and 11221/30000/V. I can't seem to be able to input and search other values than these three.
Dewze, while you are on that screen press the red button on the remote control. You will get to satellite list where transponder can be added or deleted.

After you get Nigcomsat, try reading few pages back on how to attach a second LNB to get Astra on 28.2E. Also a third LNB can be attached on top Nigcomsat to get the TSTV channels. happy hunting.

On second thought, you said your dish is facing DStv, then you shouldn't concern yourself with tracking it but input the Nigcomsat Transponder and adjust accordingly.

There are channels for action movies, telemundo, Nollywood, cartoon. Only entertainment your family will miss is football, bbnaija.

Do you mean 6 panels connected in parallel?
What exactly is this 6s1p?
It means the 6 panels are connected in series. You need more than one to connect in parallel.

1S6P means all panels are connected in parallel no series. xSxP is standard tech acronym in solar for battery and panels connection configuration. It is how I understand it from following this thread.

I don't think your 12v lithium is designed to be connected in series to get multiple values. The BMSes usually don't work that way except maybe a recent development sha.
T
He best you can do with those nominal 12v lithium batteries is connection in parallel and you can easily do that with the different charge and discharge cables that come from the battery.

If you require 24v lithium, you will have to go for Lithium already manufactured with a 24 volt nominal and 24v BMS.
Dishtech is already using the same type of batteries in series and charging with solar using PWM CC. The PWM CC has user programmable parameters.

Your batteries are Lithium Polymer batteries. I think that calls for more stringent charging conditions which that SCC may not provide, except if the charging parameters are user customisable.

I think you should avail the forum the voltage of your lithium battery, if it has in built BMS (an uploaded picture of the rating on the label might suffice enough info) and also if your SCC is customisable.
Thanks for your input. Please see attached pictures.

As I mentioned earlier, either use two from the new ones to get 24volt or buy another one new one to make 2s2p, or confirm that both batteries have the same voltage level by charging them to full capacity and leave them for 24hr or more if the new is the same with the new then you are good to go.
For connecting with the CC I will sketch
The sketch is for regular batteries, which i already know from reading this thread.

Please, see sketch attached, as you are aware the LiFePo4 brand has discharge and charge lines separate discharge lines are in series, giving 24V which is clear to me.

My question is should i connect the charging lines to the PWM CC parallel as in my sketch or I also have to connect them in series like the discharge lines.

Note the batteries comes with separate lines unlike regular batteries with only one for charging and discharging.

Thanks for your response.

brother,
long time indeed. it's been a while.
so talking about this setup of yours, is there any particular reason you're choosing to go this route of used battery and
new battery combo? also the pwm option seems rather strange especially for a lifepo4 charging regimen.
personally i believe anything worth doing at all is worth doing well. i would rather advise a serious rethink on your part
and possibly (if it's not too late) plan to purchase new batteries of similar specs and a proper mppt cc that will give you
rest of mind.
I never intended to go this route, some pages back I posted how I came about 4 LiFePo4 batteries (3-new, 1-used). The batteries were forgotten somewhere until dishtech responded to a post about the same type of batteries, being charged with solar.

In fact after acquiring the batteries and it didn't fit the purpose, I made extensive research online (solarpaneltalk dot com & others) without any positive way of safely charging it with solar. Dishtech is using PWM CC with solar to charge successfully for sometime. So, I had to revisit the forgotten batteries and see how best to utilize it. grin
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by microgiant: 7:03am On Sep 08, 2019
Dishtech:
First how many battery do you have?
Secondly what is your inverter voltage?
You can use the ups which I think is 24volt but must attached fan internally on the MOSFETs and should not exceed 600watt load on it because most ups you see are over rated and are designed to handle load within a short period.
I mentioned 4 earlier and asked if it can be connected in series/parallel. You confirmed it can be done, which I believe is for the discharge line to make it 24V for use with a 24V inverter/UPS.

You also confirmed it can be charged with solar using a PWM CC which is why I purchased it (PWM CC). My question now is since the battery has separate charge and discharge cables, how do i connect the two batteries to the PWM CC? Note: I intend to connect in series for 24V output.

I also mentioned that one is a used battery which you also advised against using it, otherwise my initial intention was to parallel and series 2S2P.

Thanks for you support.

1. How do I connect the wires (a) parallel to the PWM CC, or (b) series? Note: batteries are LiFePo4.
2. Can I use a 1500VA MGE UPS?
