What I am implying is that by checking the picture very well hope you will agree with me that if the dish is inverted the LNB arm of the dish will be approximately where the Intelsat20@68.5°E LNB is presently. Please take a look at a picture of an inverted dish and compare.

Bencoprof:It is possible, that is one of the experiments I want to embark on next. An inverted offset dish is used for low elevation satellites. The dish, for low elevation of the satellite above the horizon, would point to the ground if installed right way up. So you invert the dish, its been done and proven. But I'm not sure if any nairalander had tried it. In essence, that Intelsat20@68.5°E LNB was installed using the inverted dish principle, which I have also wanted to experiment but for time constraints. Sir Odilibe posted pictures of inverted dish on this forum. These Satellites all have KU-Beams covering Nigeria Eutelsat 70B @ 70.5°E, Africa Beam ABS 2 @ 75.0°E, South & Central Africa Beam Apstar 7 @ 76.5°E, Africa Beam. The only way you can receive the above beams with a KU Offset dish is by inverting, otherwise the dish would be pointing to the ground. I just need to get active TPs and create time for the experiment. |
4llerbuntu: I doubt if that's possible. the distance between lnb for daarsat and multitv is more than 5cm if done manually. the dual lnb is exactly 5cm gap for dstv and multitv. It's possible, I have installed one on a 60cm dish with stable signal. ![]() You should use Amos5 17.0°/Eutelsat16A 16.0°E as primary and Astra 2F at 28.2°E as the top. ![]() |
Bowofola213: Plz wich gud c-band satellite is gud dat i can recieve intresting channels except iribTry Intelsat 20 @ 68.5°E |
This info is for those interested in the Openview decoder. There are two decoders currently on sale, one is supplied Ellies (PTY) Ltd and the other is from Space TV. The elies decoder is like DSTV and doesn't accept other FTA channels, but the Space TV decoder can be used to receive other FTA channels. Imagine receiving 4E, 7E, 16E, 17E, 28E, and 68.5E for free. ![]() |
4llerbuntu: hello gentlemenI purchased mine online. You should purchase one with low latitude setting. e.g. from 0deg otherwise you are on a long thing. |
Sylvarresta: If PDP win they are flock of thief, if Apc win dey are group of Arm robbers, only God can help us..... Or make I suggest u vote 4 me just to go and see wat they are doing up there, I won't steal ur money... PROMISElol ![]() |
Those in Bayelsa the dual LNB is sold opposite Azikoro road by Ekeki Motor Park. ![]() But it is not discovery branded. |
4llerbuntu: strange request pls.11900 H 27500 |
Xpset: my ogas. Pls i just bought a 4 way lnb holder and i dont now which position to trade first as primary to get the following 4.5e 16/17e 28e 36e.Xpset, I don't know what you got. I took these pictures last weekend. The one I bought the holders are too short. So, it is difficult to install one on top of the other. First pix is my Bayelsa accommodation. The W3A/Sirus on a single lnb was off because the dish had shifted, While trying to retrack it the chair place on a table i was using as platform shifted to the edge while trying to come down one of the legs move over the table edge. In the process of jumping down I was entangle in one of the cables and that broke of the Primary LNB holder. To conclude I had to install only the two sats. Orignal plan was to install W3A/Sirius(primary), W3C/Amos5, Astra 2F Second pix i installed for a friend still in Bayelsa, after the experience of the first installation I had to order for the holder with longer arm separately. Funny, while I was there had to help some people as installers are having a field day ripping people off to insert new code for MultiTV. Installers are charging people N2K and in some instances also go with decoders that they need to use special equipment to insert the new code.

nerodenero: I am very sure that it is the bursary department that is gutted by fire. Warri no dey carry lastThe fire was closer to the tank farm than the office area. |
The fire had been put out and refinery shutdown as at the time of typing this post. Lil vicky: Everything is under control now thank God but u need to see the way all d oga's were doin formular 1 with there various car every1 running for safety.me self run shaWho no go do fornula 1, when the fire dey close to the tank farm. ![]() |
4llerbuntu, I bought those LNB holders, very flexible to set. downside, it's short and lengths are are the same. |
@4llerbuntu, hazard1759b already posted the TPs @tmichael, You can get the dish cheap in Lagos. I'm in Delta State. |
loluc90: Pls what's a Down Converter? sorry if my question is absurd.Down converter is the antenna used to receive Over the Air Cable Transmissions. The picture below shows an antenna with an inbuilt down converter. The down converter is housed in the white part attached to the antenna. Down converters can also be standalone, as in second picture. In this case the antenna plugs into the down converter . Whichever down converter used it is usually powered by a 12volts DC adapter.

tmicheal: guys am totally new here,my brother just bought a dstv so I took the hitv 4922,wat channel can I view and how do I go Abt it. Sori 4 bringing d the tread baktmichael purchase a 90cm dish, then check 4llerbuntu's post and replicate same to enjoy free channels from 4 satellites, football, movies-foreign&Nollywood, news, documentaries, music non-stop, etc. Where is your location? |
@4llerbuntu what you have done is great, but you are missing the critical point. So, I will repeat it again: 1. Track MultiTV as the primary LNB, then get a maximum signal of 97% or at least above 90%. How to do it? after getting the signal, adjust you dish little by little, up/down, right/left while watching you screen to see where the signal increased and decreased, i.e. if you have 60% and move the dish up, the signal should increase, but if if decrease, try moving it down, to see if it will increase. If moving up and down the highest signal you can get is 60% leave it at that point, then try moving it left and then right, checking also the point at which you get increased signal. You can still try the up and down movement at this point also to see if the signal increases, then tighten your dish at that point. The next step is to loosen the LNB holder a bit and turn the LNB clockwise and counter clockwise (this is called skewing) signal will increase or decrease, tighten it at maximum signal. 2. Search for the DSTV signal, when you get signal repeat what you did before, i.e. up/down, left/right and finally skewing to get the maximum signal shouldn't be less than 80%. 3. Search for W3C, and repeat the process again, fix and tie at the maximum signal. NOTE: You shouldn't adjust the dish again after getting MultiTV, for DSTV and W3C you only adjust the LNB (i.e. UP/DOWN, LEFT/RIGHT, turning LNB CLOCKWISE/COUNTERCLOCKWISE(Skewing). Hope this helps? ![]() |

@4llerbuntu, You don't need to move your dish. The procedure is track Astra 2F @28.2E (MultiTV) after getting maximum signal, tighten the dish screws, then track Eutelsat7 @ 36E, fix the LNB at maximum signal last track Amos/W3C Alternatively, you can use Amos/W3C as primary, Astra 2F comes on top Amos/W3C, then Eutelsat7 comes on top Astra 2F. |
I have used one of your previous pix for illustration again. I hope your dish is the bigger DSTV dish not 60cm, because getting Amos/W3C on 60cm requires a lot of practice and patience. First Align the Dish properly on MultiTV to increase the signal. Then you can search for Amos/W3C. Remember to use the strongest TP 11881 v 27500/11024 H 03333
|
@4llerbuntu You have made good progress ![]() 1. You didn't state the size of dish used. 2. Since your primary LNB is MultiTV naturally elevation of dish will be higher than DSTV 3. Your signal is low, because even on 60cm dish MultiTV should be above 90% as the Primary LNB. Once you increase the MultiTV signal the DSTV will increase automatically without adjusting the DSTV LNB. 4. Post pictures of your dish setup. |
I will use your picture to illustrate With MultiTV(popular called JoyTV) @28.2E as your primary LNB, Eutelsat 7 (DSTV) @ 36E will be on top just like you have fixed it (approximately 5cm above Astra 2F) Then Amos5/W3C can be gotten below, attached to the LNB holder arm. Note. Search for JoyTV first, then DSTV comes on top remember the LNB should slightly face to your right (while standing in front of the dish) Lastly Amos5/W3C comes next to the right side of the LNB arm also facing towards your left. There are no hard and fast rules. You have to search for the signal first and fix the LNB at the point you receive the signal.
|
The limitation is the surface of the dish that sees the signal. A 90cm dish can pick multiple signals that can be received with 60cm up to 97% conveniently. But where the signal is not stable on 90cm it becomes difficult to receive it on an attached LNB, in which case you make the satellite with the weakest signal your primary LNB and others, attachment. ![]() |
4llerbuntu for you to get another satellite, while your primary lnb is facing let say 36E (DSTV) position, MultiTV is on 28.2E that is to the right of DSTV while standing at the back of the dish. You can search for the signal to the left while standing at the back of the dish if you are facing the dish, you search to the right because the signal is coming in from the left side and using Law of the Reflection, the signal is reflected towards the right side. see image below for clarification. after getting MultiTV and DSTV, to search for 16/17 while facing the dish search to the right of MultiTV. first image is courtesy http://www.brymar.co.uk/acatalog/copy_of_LNBs_and_Dishes_5.html Second image is courtesy http://www.austech.info/newbie-satellite/62430-multi-lnb-setup.html
|
Satellite signal (which is a radio signal) obeys the Physics Law of Reflection http://www.physicsclassroom.com/class/refln/u13l1c.cfm To track satellites to the East from DSTV position, that is right movement, the dish should be moving down, while tracking to the West the dish will the moving up till you get to 0 degrees at which point the dish will be facing up, then start coming down again as you continue to move West. next image is courtesy http://www.satelliteforcaravans.co.uk/skewetc.htm Last is courtesy www.rv.net

4llerbuntu: about splitting the lnbs actually I'm using just one decoder..... I'm trying to aim at different sats to be hooked via a DisEqc.4llerbuntu, you dish is already facing pointed to DSTV direction, to track other satellites from that position when you are behind the dish moving it to your left means moving to West, while the other way round is moving to East. |
George_D tried calling you, but was being transferred and the call dropped without connecting. |
Yinka4dad: Am not intrested in the zimbo but iy is my mbc that come in day and goes @ night that's whyi will advise you forget about the Zimbo, and fine tune the MBC signal to be stable. Once the MBC signal is stable and Zimbo is still showing you have no problem. Tweak till you can get between 60-63% on MBC. But if you are using 1-LNB for 4.8E and 7E that is the maximum signal at which you can receive both satellites. If you increase the MBC signal you will lose 4.8E. It depends on your priority |
obnelly: You cant get ait on hotbird ,it should be amos 17e.The original installer must have used hotbird satellite in the STB. Dinobenson: Good day to u my brother, hope u are in the best of health.i have a problem getting nta and ait networks on hotbird.i used this frequency 12.217v27.500 to track, but after blind scanning i got some stations including 9ja tv,but couldnt get ait and nta.pls what do i need to do or which frequency do i need to use.will be expecting ur prompt response, tanx and God bless.u can inbox me @ dondinobensen@gmail.com,most grateful.Try and increase your signal.
