Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Autoscanning For All Satellites by microgiant: 10:53am On Sep 16, 2010
You can scan all at the same time, there is always an option to select satellites you want to scan in automatic and blindscan modes of satellite receivers.

I have not used a Technosat before but under scan - you should highlight each sat and press the "OK" or "Enter" button on your remote before giving the scan command.

Loop Through is poor - If I loop through from the strong SRT 4669x and it's on standby the opticum receives from all dishes and transponders, but if you reverse, i.e. loop through from opticum to strong, you only get the same transponders and when on standby no transponder.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 5 - The Final Part) by microgiant: 3:21pm On Aug 02, 2010
I am just curious why all the Nigerian TV Channels on satellite cannot be received on KU here as is applicable the world over the local channels on satellite are receivable with small dishes, BBCs in UK, DW in Germany, France TVs in France, back to Africa; SABC is beamed free to South Africa, KBC, K24, NTV etc beamed free to the East Africans respectively, GTV to Ghanians, STV1 to Cameroon, RTS to Senega, LCF, LC2, Canal2, Canal3 etc to Togo/Benin, just don't have time to list all.  But come to Nigeria; AIT, NTA, MiTV, NTA Lagos, etc only on DSTV, MyTV, HiTV platforms (all paythieves) now on Startimes.

Note: GTV, SABC, LCF, LC2, RTS, KBC, NTVU, NTV, STV1, etc are all on one paytv platform or the other yet can still be received on KU with small dishes by their citizens. huh

which channel(s) did yu pick with this?
A transponder being active does not mean there are live channels on it. It simply means that the transponder turns green or whichever colour is displayed by the receiver when you hit a receivable bird.

Active transponders on Astra 2B (No Channels)

12597 H 12.999
12615 H 9.999

@ blexxonmak

I think it is good news in some ways.  With the advent of cardsharing, most of the coders stopped making keys and emus, everybody started switching over to cardsharing.

@ my main  man Pwr VU is compromised and the numbers are already out. Just remaining for the products emu fm to be released.

and the coders will also start working on the almighty N that deprived us of Etv and Sabc.

So I think the toroidal sat theory is wrong and Spaceman's explanation is actually closer to the mark. The elevation is so high that the azimuth makes the dish seem like a plate that is receiving the signal direct from the sky, so no matter the azimuth (within reasonable variation), you still hit green.
sorry my bad, I didn't understand the original post before replying. Since he mentioned HiTv direction and I saw the HiTV dish, my understanding was that it was the HiTV dish receiving the signal, not the 1m dish.

tracking Hotbird is a little bit easier than nilesat. The signal is ok on 2.4m.The only problem is that most of the channels are encrypted.
It is common knowledge that the European and Middle East Sats are the most porous. most people over there work only seven hours a day, plus no weekend work, so they have enough time to play with FTA grin

you can ask the gurus badaru, olofofo et al, for direction cool

It's possible. Haven't you heard of Toroidal dish? facing one direction and receiving from both directions.  The Sirius dish is creating a Toroidal effect on the HiTv dish due to the closeness.

Yes EPG is possible but it has to be done by star tv, in fact interactive services are possible with digital terrestrial tv. If you check most of the tv remote controls, there is button for teletext, but in africa broadcasters have not been utilizing teletext capabilities.
