ZZ22: False comparison? I don't even know where you are driving but let me tell you, you can't defend Nigeria without looking stupid(I'm not saying you are stupid) How much is Nigeria's budget for education and how is that of Canada? How much is Nigeria's cost of governance and how much is that of Canada? do the comparison and see the kind of country you are trying to defend. A country still operating military constitution while they deceive themselves with democracy I already said I'm not defending it, yes if you compare things relative to those factors you have in mind, you will get to the truth |

drlateef: the shame of nothing to show relatives for many years of living and working abroad. Majority of Nigerians do menial jobs like cleaning, healthcare assistants, office assistant etc. Their salaries are not enough to pay bills and save for home coming. You can add security guard and making hair (not owning the salon) ... All those jobs are enough to be somebody in Nigeria, it depends on personal expenditure. Except now that ad-hoc contracting is affecting employment, it may be more difficult but not impossible |

I really don't know why a lady would decide to b lesb? Dont they want children, real sex enjoyment, manly strength, financial inducement fom d man, respect and all that? They don't decide it, it's their sexual persuasion... Hopefully nobody harms them since they have decided to go public with this... |

ZZ22: Your colonizers don't want you to do shit, respect yourself, put your house in place and watch colonizers treat you with utmost respect. Things are really bad in Nigeria and there's no future for the coming generation with the way things are going. We have to tell ourselves the truth because shying away from it will further sink Nigeria in to pit. Nobody is exaggerating the situation of the country rather it is our local media controlled by same demonic government underrate how deep the country has sunk in all standard. Telling yourself the truth is the first step to solving your problems and being truthful is not exaggeration. Yes you are right, I am only making the point that you should compare the same pieces of data and not make false comparisons |

olujastro: The actual reasons Nigerians find themselves stuck abroad are:
2. Crime is increasing in Nigeria by the day so those abroad don't want to return and get kidnapped. . If you return and keep a reasonably low profile do you think you stand any more chance than a normal citizen of being kidnapped? A genuine question and not a rebuttal This is what jidenna tried to say all those years ago and he still hasn't fully recovered I can't imagine it could be a real risk unless the person comes back and makes too much noise or wanders into a bad area |

Zero suitable accommodation and not enough funds to build any for themselves
Or
Sending money back home to dubious relatives, architects and contractors who will collect the money and build absolutely nothing or else a substandard building that will fall down in during udu mmiri
Hence mockery for coming back with "nothing to show for it" and hostility from relatives who see them as a burden |

ZZ22: From this thread you will discover that there are demons among us that have started seeing the chains in their hands as bracelets. How can a sane person defend a thing very useless as Nigeria? to them Nigeria is very OK the way it is today, they will even come against you for trying to remove their chains by revolution forgetting that most countries with good standard of living have numerously revolted against their leaders. Nigeria is a shame but most Nigerians defending the status quo is a bigger shame. Not defending the status quo but avoiding unfair comparisons. That things are bad does not mean we should exaggerate our problems or take on a defeatist attitude, that's what the people who colonised us want us to do |

AK481: This post is slightly misleading.
Op how much is your school fees let’s compare it with the classes in AUN .
Fee for fee Structure for structure Class for class.
Then the discussion will start. Are you going to compare it fee for fee with an international student at AUN? That's the only way it will be fair because those schools always use international students to fund their courses and build their libraries...their international fees are always out of this world because the citizens there can't pay the money |

Daviddson: Well I attended a federal university where we paid nearly next to nothing (some very "local" PRIMARY SCHOOLS charge as much as N20K per term which translate to N60K per year while my UNIVERSITY was charging less than N30K per year!), but our classrooms were air-conditioned (at least my faculty).
As far as I know, public education is the only free gift we're enjoying in Nigeria. The small fees we pay are just for formalities. That's a proper utilisation of taxes, if people would just try and leave a little when they're stealing from the coffers it would help everybody more |

AgreatMan: Actually, this is not a fair comparison.
International students pay an average of 3million naira in Canada per year but Nigerian schools charge an average of say 100k. (Rough estimates)
It's called getting exactly what you pay for. Good class rooms, but it's no big deal. But you can't deny the effect that embezzlement and bad character has on our educational institutions. A hall with enough seats and a lecturer who doesn't want to sleep with you or fail you because you do not belong to his tribe are not too much to ask even if your school fees are N20 By the way you shouldn't be comparing the fees of a international student with a home student in Nigeria, of course it will be more. You should rather quote the average Canadian home students fees. It will still be more but it's still important And some places have free university because their taxes are utilised efficiently without too much embezzlement |

crackhouse: The problem we have here is Nigerians. I bet u if that place were to be in Nigeria. Those toilets would be an eyesore by now. The students would have messed it up big time that you can't even step in let alone urinating. The toilets will still get messed up, the difference is that the toilet attendant will come and clean it several times a Day A lot of toilet attendant staff here will not clean anything even if it's their job Shoprite toilets are always clean, even though hundreds of people use them every day, that's because the toilet attendants are on hand and present inside the restroom On second thoughts I do agree with you to an extent, we don't have good toilet culture in fact plenty of people have never seen one before or if they have, can't see the difference between that and the bush. Therefore they just mess anyhow so there are two sides to it |
