A combination of artillery strikes and air strikes by the Gripens and Hawks. Can destroy that. South Africa armed forces can be flexible during a conventional war cause of the air force,SAAF's helicopters can move an entire battalion with a single flight. No,they had superior training in long range gunnery using the WW2 centurion MBT against the T-55,T-35(used as artillery,dugged up) and T-62. Watch the Discovery world documentary where all the capabilities of the tanks are explained(from gun diameter,range,mussel velocity and all that). The USSR helped rearm Egypt,remember when some Israel reported seeing Egyptian troops with strange tubes and bags(ATMs). During the initial attack and this were portable USSR made SAMs. Israel fought alone on the ground the USA flown supplies and provided Israel with intelligence,and Israel wasn't fighting Egypt alone it was the whole Arab world From Iraq to Morocco. Egypt was fearful of the Israel air force,they created an umbrella of SAM batteries. They had advanced tanks and the wire guided sagger missile which was used to a devastating results on the Israelis....And yes,I'm watching that series,It doesn't go into detail about the quality of equipment fielded during that war.

The only front Israel had it easy was the Syrian front. the Syrians would have marched unto Israel after they made Israel retreated from the golan, but Assad was such a foolish leader who ordered the attack be delayed which gave Israel enough time to regroup and set a trap that incapacitated Syrian best armoured division.
Egypt almost embarrassed Israel but for US intervention. Israeli airforce lost almost all their jets to the Egyptians, all their attacks against Egypt were successfully repelled and many Israeli soldiers and commanders were captured. Israel was in a dilemma before US intervened in favour of Israel.

Have you watched Discovery world's Greatest tank battles,about that war?. The documentary on Al jazeera doesn't go into detail about the battle on the ground,Israeli tanks didn't have night vision capabilities but like T-62 using their long range gunnery skills managed to hold down their own against the whole "Arab army" ......Look both countries had backers(the USA and USSR). Israel was outnumbered but performed well. Here are the numbers Israel had 358 fighter jets,2100 tanks and 37 naval vessels while the had 998 fighter jets,4350 tanks and 137 naval vessels.

Egypt had USSR backers then....Not the black bird spy plane only. The USA flown supplies to Israel too like the TOW missile,which was fielded in the closing days of the war. But have you seen the Discovery world documentary(Greatest tank battles)? The Israelis tank crews are trained in long range gunnery. But it would an interesting one,if both got to a war now. I mean Egypt has the Abram MBT and Israel has Merkava,which can fire missiles,carry troops and the latest fitted with the active trophy system which destroy incoming rounds and missiles.
