Until Nigerians are will to hold their leaders to account; until political leaders understand that they are public servants and have no choice but to work in the best interests of the people; until they fear for their lives, then this will keep happening.

1. There is only one person that will decide, so the decisions are made quickly and there are fewer arguments regarding the new policies to be imposed.
2. Monarchy reduces the heavy amount of expenditures of the nation in the elections and campaigns as there is no need to elect the next ruler; Even in an Elective Monarchy like in Yorubaland
3. The masses have great respect to their king or queen as Head of State than an elected president as he/ she will rule for a term only. This promotes patriotism
4. Countries ruled by a monarch government have less corruption. Rulers know that their leadership is not for a term period, so they have no lust for money. They do not have the intentions to misuse their authority for corruption.
5. there is greater accountability and no blaming the "opposition". The Monarch is less distracted and the people not deceived by political tricks
Thailand is a monarchy and is mired in political chaos, has been for a few years now. Thailand is notoriously corrupt. People don't respect the monarchy in Thailand, they fear the monarchy because honest discourse about the head of state can lead to a prison term. Anyone found in possession of books critical of the monarchy faces three years in prison:

Brunei hasn't moved forward at all in the past 20 years and they are a monarchy with a small population and large oil reserves but you wouldn't know it if you were there. Where is the evidence of speed of thought an action here? A tiny country such as this should have surged past everyone, including/especially the democratic Singapore. The reality is that the reverse is true.

Saudi Arabia is a monarchy with the largest known reserves of oil; the country has huge (yet depleting) financial reserves; is the seat of Islam drawing millions of tourists and billions of dollars from pilgrims. They have barely moved forward as a society since the discovery of their oil reserves and the monarchy has had to struggle to force through simple reforms, such as female education. In 2016 Saudi women cannot leave their homes unless permitted by a male relative. Women cannot drive. And if you want to talk about corruption and waste you need look no further than the Saudi princes. Saudi also cracks down heavily on 'dissent':

Corruption in Saudi Arabia:
http://www.business-anti-corruption.com/country-profiles/middle-east-north-africa/saudi-arabia/snapshot.aspx
http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/gulf/sa-corruption.htm

Bahrain isn't corrupt? Why were people protesting in 2011? Why were people being attacked by security forces? Because they love their system of government? Because they feel that their concerns are being listened to? Because the government is progressive?

Northern Nigeria has emirs and yet it is one of the worst places in the world to live. Explain how monarchy has made that society better? Tell me how it has allowed that region to become more progressive? Where is the evidence of the speed of thought and decision making in northern Nigeria?

Where is the accountability in monarchies? Most claim to have divined their power from a deity, deities that they cannot prove exist. That in itself is a fraudulent claim so how does one build a system of honesty and integrity on a foundation of lies? If that isn't a trick then what is it?

Monarchy is the antithesis of accountable government. There is nothing to stop them from abusing their power or misusing funds.

Transparency is the answer to corruption, not opaque government. Monarchy is a throwback to a bygone era. The constitutional monarchies of Europe are tolerated for now because they have largely been pushed to the background. Representative national governments and the EU make the important decisions in those nations, not the monarchs. It's important to not here that there is a movement to eradicate many of them:
http://www.aerm.org/
https://republic.org.uk/

Monarchy sets a bad tone for a society if those people are trying to move forward. It encourages slavish dedication to an individual who has been elevated above the rest, not by account of their achievements. If a people are trying to be progressive and forward thinking it is imperative that they embrace ideals that allow everyone to contribute to the fullest of their abilities. No one should be able to jump ahead of another because they are family of royalty, that is what leads to the incompetence that plagues regions such as northern Nigeria, the GCC and Thailand. Meritocracy and transparency should be universal values if we are to be a free and fair.

China has pulled more people out of poverty in the past 30 years than any nation in history. Has developed quicker than any nation in history. Is the engine of economic growth globally, all this without being a monarchy. The previous record holder was the USA, again, not a monarchy.

I'm fabricating stories? The US army was called in to hunt for Boko Horam camps and rescue the Chibok girls that were believed to be in Nigeria and Cameroon. Since Boko Horam is only in Nigeria why search in Cameroon as well? Or is the fact that innocent people are only being killed in Nigeria by Boko Horam is something to be proud of?

You know what, may the rest of the World is fabricating all those stories that about Nigerians being caught at airports and other ports of entry concealing drugs. Funny enough some of them are published on nairaland. So Nigerians are now fabricating stories about whats really going in Nigeria?

So because there are people willing to buy drugs, those that sell them should go unpunished? If that law operates in your country? Why does EFCC keep arresting Nigerian scammers if internet and credit card fraud doesn't really exist in Nigeria?

Apartheid existed in South Africa the same way Colonialism existed in Nigeria, but there was never a time that over 200 underage females were abducted from a school and forced to marry insurgents or used as suicide bombers during Apartheid now was there? But then again I'm sure you would find that more humane.

Im sorry for fabricating about things i read on nairaland everyday in the politics and crime sections.
Where did I say that Boko Haram was only in Nigeria? They've spread to Cameroon because there's nowhere for them to go in Nigeria, the armed forces there have pinned them back.

And you should be smarter than to believe everything that you read.

You should also be smart enough to understand that colonialism whilst destructive was not the same as apartheid. At least Nigeria got the Brits to go away, the British and Dutch crooks are still in South Africa feeding fat from stolen wealth.

P.S.
The drugs market is international, likewise fraud and cybercrime. Most of the chaos caused by western appetites for illicit substances are felt in Mexico, not Nigeria.

In Nigeria US $24billion simply vanished without explanation, Boko Horam continuously spreading, Fulani herdsmen attacking travellers, Igbos being well known for drug trafficking and murdering people for ritual purposes, Yorubas being known for fraud. Uncle please, what exactly is right about your legal system?
If you're talking about the money that Sanusi claimed was missing - that matter was simply a case of someone speaking without thought. He once claimed that close to $50 billion was missing before someone pointed out that wasn't even possible, that was when he decided that $21 billion had vanished. Then he claimed the number was $2 billion, then changed it again to $12 billion. The international press caught onto the 'story' after the minister for finance and PWC had shown that nothing was missing.

Boko Haram has been cornered in Nigeria, don't spread lies.

A lot of people sell drugs because even more people take drugs. Do you drink alcohol? Even more people commit act of fraud.

None of what you've listed even comes close to the crime committed by the Boers and British against the people of South Africa for which they were forgiven without being made to make restitution for their evil deeds. Maybe you should face those problems instead of fabricating Nigerian stories.

It isn't one of the best road networks, it is the best. I just wish that the AKS and CRS governments would work together to build a good highway between Calabar and Uyo because the roads built by those state governments are always much better than those built by the FG or the NDDC. When AKS and CRS governments work on a project they tend to do it to the highest standards.

AKS and CRS are why I believe regional governments are needed. AKS generates sufficient power for its needs but has to feed that power back into the national grid and provide power for places that do not contribute any power. The same can be said of the Federal budget in general.

OP is right about people in CRS and AKS being neat. Definitely the cleanest part of Nigeria.

OP is wrong about the accent. Their English is fine, they speak the language better than most Nigerians, especially the ones who think that by shouting they are being clearer. Ask certain people west of the Niger to pronounce any word with the letter 'H' or 'CH' and you will see what I mean. Besides, I've never heard anyone in AKS or CRS speak English as poorly as Buhari.

Pally, it is the other way round. It is tribe and religion that formented, necessitated 'sharing'. Religion and tongue has been in existence since the Tower of Babel, generations before Nigeria got her indepdence. It is the way we have used it to degrade ourselves from man to animal that is baffling. Are we the only multi-cultural, multi-religious society. India is a typical example. We were at par economically as recently as the eighties. I had Indians as teachers throughout elementary school and as collegues at college. Today they are the engine room of global economic growth, the fastest growing large economy and is on course to hit the top three soon. They are also the largest democracy with a voting population of half a billion. They have religious populations of Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims and Christians each larger than the entire population of Nigeria, yet they can organise themselves, elect their goverments and run their country to prosperity in a just, satisfactory manner. And by the way they don't have allocations. Why is Nigeria different. What is wrong with us.
India suffers from religious violence and inter tribal violence.

And for a nation of over 1 billion people they punch well below their weight. They are nowhere near the level of China with similar population.

They do not have a good track record of organization, most Indian cities are testament to this fact.

India is both the malnutrition and diabetes capital of the world - how does that play into your 'prosperous India' myth?

And 'allocations' from tax receipts is very different from the federal government requisitioning the whole pie from one industry and then sharing the money with people who refuse to use their own resources.

It isn't the 'norm' for that to happen. I've never seen that happen and I don't know anyone that has happened to.

Keep deceiving yourself if you wish but it's clear, by all indices that the North was not (and still is not) ready to be an independent nation. Unfortunately we have a system in place that allows them to push their useless 'leaders' on the nation at large.

This is why I understand why IPOB and the Biafra agitators are so irritated and why I believe the only solution for Nigeria's ailment is full federalism.

P.S.
When Anthony Enahoro was calling for indepdence in the 1950s it was the North that said they were not ready. They were still not ready in the 1960s when they murdered southerners in the tens of thousands. Every senseless pogrom since has shown they are not ready.

Islam throughout much of West Africa tends to be very liberal and considerate to the point where you can't always readily identify who is Muslim and who is not - this is a good thing.

The biggest exception to this rule are those Muslims in northern Nigeria who wear their religion on their sleeve and use it as an unclad tool of oppression.

Amaechi is the Minister for Transport, he may decide to scupper the old plans for the railway.

During GEJ Akwa Ibom and Cross River states did well. There was a lot of construction going on in Bayelsa too.

It's not for the President to do everything - the states are responsible for most areas. It's only for the President to sign laws into effect and direct policies that will create an enabling environment for business to flourish. That happened under GEJ, that isn't happening now.

Ideally the states would be more powerful and the federal government smaller and weaker, sadly some people don't want that because they like having one man to blame for problems he neither caused nor is responsible for.

Building schools for people whose parents refuse to send them to school
Building universities (in the North)
Dealing with Islamic insurgents in the North
Making deals for the renovation of the rail network
Selling Nigeria's potential at the World Economic Forum

You forget that these Niger Delta states have governors. Akwa Ibom and Cross River State have used their resources well, you can see the work that has been done.
