ProphetUdeme:It was pertinent to his point - I would not have looked at her profile otherwise. He has only spoken that which is true. Why are you so intent with hiding evidence/truth? Why are you content in your ignorance? |
ibibiogrl:I didn't mention Efiks. Nonetheless I find the whole thing quite stupid and unfortunate - a true sign that some people do not understand how unhelpful these petty divisions are, and they are very petty. The differences in the language between Annang and Ibibio is what happens with any language when there is no written form, it becomes distorted over distance - that is still not enough for it be anything other than a dialect. My overriding point is this - these petty squabbles are something that should be seen as an embarrassment, not something noble to be defended. The differences are accentuated so as to call for new states and the greater division of the nation - not for anyone's long term benefit. We should be trying to do away with as many of these peculiar barriers as we can, not support them - what good have they done anyone in Nigeria? |
Blossom023:I have called the Muslims to task too - check my posts. I laugh at Mormons, especially the African variety. I also find Scientologists tragically amusing. I think Buddhists are as crazy as their Christian brethren. I pity Jehovah's Witnesses. Christianity is no different from any of the other religions aside from the fact that in Nigeria (and many western nations) Christianity gets a free ride whilst Islam has been questioned a lot, especially since 9/11 - there is no difference between the lies. A lie unchallenged might be seen to be true, something I find to be morally reprehensible. |
It is socially irresponsible to allow lies to thrive. |
Private educational institutions the world over are better than publicly funded - he's not saying anything new. Just as publicly funded hospitals are not as good as private hospitals. When your ability to survive depends on the quality of the service that you provide then it stands to reason that you will eradicate waste and adopt the best practices. Otherwise you cease to exist. |
StepTwo:He is not concerned. None of those crooked northern leaders are - that is why they are okay with child marriage; gross illiteracy; malnutrition and some of the worst poverty rates on the planet. If they don't care about those issues why would they care if the people are dying? |
Another useless northern leader. |
ibibiogrl:I've read your links - it just looks like someone scratching around trying to establish some form of superiority or separatism than showing any genuine differences. English is a hybrid language with elements from German but also other languages, such as French and Latin because those are the people who have dominated political life in England over the centuries. The difference between Anang and Ibibio is much less than that. Native English speakers do not understand French, Latin or German, unless they have been taught the language - this is not the case with Anang and Ibibio. I'm not sure what you hope to achieve by further dividing Nigerian peoples into smaller factions - it seems like an odd quest with no benefit for anyone. When did the term 'Anang' come to mean a separate group or language? Who was it that created the term and for what purpose? |
ibibiogrl:Because the people wear their clothes slightly differently and they pronounce a few words differently, that makes them a different ethnic group? That is the most asinine reason ever. German has many dialects and different modes of dress. Likewise Italian. British English has various different accents/dialects. No one is calling them different languages or representing different ethnic groups. I'm not sure what people like you think will be gained by constantly subdividing people, especially on such spurious grounds. |
omojeesu:Those people are called liars. |
Some people are remarkably foolish. Why does your all loving god need so much money? Is it not the thieving pastor who will spend the money? |
omojeesu:Not opinion - what you have said is supported by the Qu'ran. |
abduljabbar4:You are not an intelligent man/woman, at all. What he said is true - northerners fear the truth. Your leaders have tried to hold back the country as a whole - just as they have done with their own states. Rivers state and Imo state may have issues but they are not amongst the most poverty ridden places on the planet as the northern states are. Those states do not have issues with child marriage. They do not have a large proportion of children out of school. They do not have children on the street begging - those that you do see come from the north, or Niger. Learn to see what is right in front of you. |
http://afritechnet..ae/2015/06/how-to-hack-whatsapp-account.html How to hack a Whatsapp Account Whatsapp was purchased by Facebook for over $20 billion last year as a result of its popularity. It is this user popularity that has made it a prime target for hackers looking to make their mark. It is now understood that a Whatsapp account can be hijacked without unlocking or knowing a device password - something that should be of grave concern to the hundreds of millions Whatsapp users. The following trick will allow anyone in the vicinity of a Whatsapp user to potentially gain control over the victim's Whatsapp account with just the phone number and access to the phone for just a few seconds, even if it's locked: Download Whatsapp and create a new account When creating the new account use your victim’s number In the process of creating the account ask WhatsApp to call the victim number to provide you with the PIN code. Accept the Whatsapp call from the victim's phone Although it affects all Whatsapp users irregardless of OS, the hack is made easier if the victim is an iPhone user with Siri authentication from the lock screen. In such a scenario the victim's contact details will be made available to access Siri's settings, meaning that an attacker can access them sans PIN code. This simplifies the process of finding out the victim's phone number. http://afritechnet..com/2015/06/how-to-hack-whatsapp-account.html |
http://afritechnet..ae/2015/06/online-data-security-why-how.html Criminals are stealing data in order to use personal information for identify theft scams. According to the latest ISTR 20 report there was a 23% increase in the number of data breaches in 2014. Cyber criminals were found to look for the following (in order number of breaches exposing the data): Real names Government ID information (e.g. SSN) Home addresses Financial information Birth dates Medical records Phone numbers Email addresses User name/password combinations Insurance details Hackers often make use of system vulnerabilities, or rather users' reluctance to update software with latest security patches, weak passwords SQL injections and targeted malware attacks, to glean information. SQL injections install malware onto a device without the user doing anything proactive. Targeted malware attacks usually come as a result of phishing campaigns - whereby the user is deceived into revealing personal information about themselves or downloads malware via a suspect link. How to Protect Data? Users are advised to use strong passwords for each account, avoid replicating passwords - that is how multiple breaches happen on the back of one slip up. Utilities such as LastPass Password Manager assist in keeping track of the various passwords. Keeping abreast of financial accounts, monitoring often, should allow users to act quickly should there be any suspicious activity. This will minimize any initial losses and allow for a quicker resolution. Users are also advised to sign up for any text message notification alerts for transactions - they are more secure than email. http://afritechnet..com/2015/06/online-data-security-why-how.html |

http://afritechnet..com/2015/05/dating-apps-as-security-risk.html IBM experts concluded that 63% of all apps have security flaws - any cyber-criminal with the right know-how could thus access a user's personal information as well as corporate details. The same study found that 73% of dating apps collect users' GPS coordinates. Potential attackers could use such information to draw up a summary of where the user resides, works and socializes. Users' camera phones and microphones may also be compromised by exploiting the security loopholes in a number of these apps. Credit card information is vulnerable with such apps. In conjunction with the location profile it would make it easier for a potential fraudster to complete successful 'carding' exercises. Users are advised: To take special care with their passwords, follow the oft repeated (but often ignored) advice to mix letters, numbers, lower and upper case. Apply latest updates and patches to apps at the earliest possible opportunity Refrain from using untrusted/unsecured Wi-Fi connections Review app permissions prior to installation and after any software upgrade Promptly uninstall apps that you deem to be untrustworthy http://afritechnet..ae/2015/05/dating-apps-as-security-risk.html |
About time Nigerians learn to appreciate each other. |
http://afritechnet..com/2015/06/fake-google-chrome-video-installer.html A file named "ChromeSetup.exe" is being offered for download on various websites, the link appears to be legitimately hosted on Facebook and Google domains. Once the malware is executed, it relays the IP address and operating system version to one of two command-and-control servers, then downloads a configuration file. The malware then intercepts any HTTP requests should the machine be used to make contact with a banking website - in such a scenario the user will face a pop up a dialog box informing the user that new security software will be installed. Users are advised to ensure that their anti-virus software is up to date and to refrain from downloading software from unofficial sources. Also, be careful of the fake Google Chrome Video Installer doing the rounds on Facebook - http://afritechnet..com/2015/06/fake-google-chrome-video-installer_6.html |
stephano100:You can get a VPN plan from another company and then set up with OpenVPN - that's what I do. I don't personally know of any free VPN services that I would trust - http://afritechnet..ae/2015/05/hola-vpn-exposed-as-botnet.html. |
http://afritechnet..ae/2015/06/network-tips-for-smes.html Black hat hackers can be found online offering their services for as little as $20 per day to launch DDOS attacks at any target, repeatedly. This is a frequent ploy used to nullify a competitor by destroying their search engine ranking and thus increasing the prominence of the competitor’s online presence. A severe hack could wipe out the entire database of an online store or brochure website, many small businesses have not even allowed for backups of their online assets. A destroyed online presence is as bad as no online presence, the overriding result - lost business. There are some common sense, affordable tactics that small businesses may deploy in order to ward off the most common threats: Put firewalls in place on your website and your company systems Use IP restrictions and “black IP blockers” to ward off the most common attacks Anti-virus and anti-phishing solutions integrated into mail and company servers http://afritechnet..com |
They will get you because the rules are skewed in their favor. The can (and do) deny defendant's evidence at will, whilst presenting prosecutary evidence that has been garnered by suspect means. |
StepTwo:The problem is that teams in the league are run by those who are also squandering state resources in other arenas. If they were forced to be lean and efficient then wastage and misconduct is unlikely to be tolerated, or at least to the same degree. If you were running a football club as a business you would do everything to ensure that everyone at the show that is football was safe. It's not enough to respond to a act, there has to be proaction in preventing the prohibited act. |
StepTwo:If you invest, you invest in security and you put in place a code of behavior so that those that breach the code are sanctioned. |
ednut1:That is a farcical statement - to say that there is no money to made. You might as well argue that there is no money to be made by Nigerian musical artistes because Nigerians like listening to Jay-Z and Beyonce. Or that Nollywood films won't make money because there are so many big budget Hollywood and Bollywood films. There's enough room for both. If the game is marketed right then there is a lot of money to be made. Make it safe, make it clean, make it look exciting and people will come. |
http://afritechnet..ae/2015/06/ross-ulbricht-trial-what-did-we-learn.html Ross Ulbricht has been handed a double life sentence for his role as mastermind of the infamous 'Silk Road' website - a place where anything from guns and illicit drugs to hitmen and hackers for hire could be found. The public gallery that is the internet has observed as this self-proclaimed Libertarian was charged (and then convicted) of narcotics trafficking, computer hacking and money laundering as a result of his online communications. From 2011 - 2013 the Silk Road boasted $1.6 billion in sales. The courts have since ordered Ulbricht forfeit assets worth $184 million, a figure based upon the transactional records of the website in question. For those wondering how it came to be that Ulbricht was caught, here are some of the security flaws in his operation that were exploited by the Federal law enforcement and could have left him vulnerable to other criminals: 1. Ulbricht made a post on a public forum under with an account linked to a personal gmail account that revealed his real name and details 2. US Customs intercepted a package containing 9 pieces of counterfeit ID. All 9 had photos of Ross Ulbricht with different names 3. Ulbricht posted on Stack Overflow using his real name, asking “How can I connect to a Tor hidden service using curl in php?”. One minute later he changed his username to “frosty”, but a subpoena shows the original name. This case should drive home the message that once a message or image goes online it is in the public domain, forever. Additionally, Tor is designed for anonymity, not security and even then it falls short - decryption is possible. http://afritechnet..com/2015/06/ross-ulbricht-trial-what-did-we-learn.html |
Ravenwolf:Worse than the IOC? Or the Red Cross? Or the various crooked banks? |
Buhari is a fool if he believes the Americans are coming to 'help'. Show me an instance in the past 20 years where American intervention has not caused greater chaos or been used as a reason for occupation? |
seankafor:It's only foolish people who say that corruption is an epidemic particular to Nigeria. The most crooked organizations in the world are banks, they create the money supply and bribe government officials by way of post public office roles so that legislation is written in their favor. Hence, why even after the great recession not one of the major heads of a US bank has gone to prison. Or why in spite of the numerous money laundering charges leveled against Swiss bankers, none go to prison. At least in Nigeria Cecilia Ibru and co. were held to account for what they did. Siemens and Halliburton have also been exposed as being crooked - neither is a Nigerian company. |
http://afritechnet..ae/2015/06/what-is-botnet.html A botnet is a group of computers that are controlled from a single source and run related software. Originally, botnets were created as a tool with valid purposes in Internet relay chat (IRC) channels. Eventually, hackers exploited the vulnerabilities in IRC networks and developed bots to perform malicious activities such as password theft, keystroke logging. An attacker will often target computers not safeguarded with firewalls and/or anti-virus software. A botnet manipulator may get control of a computer usually by one of two ways: drive-by downloads and email. Drive-by download infections require the attacker to find a popular website with an exploitable vulnerability. The attacker then loads his own malicious code on the site and rigs it to exploit a vulnerability in a common browser such as Google Chrome or Internet Explorer. This code will then redirect the user’s browser to another site controlled by the attacker where the bot code will be downloaded and installed on the user’s machine. The email infection vector is easier. The attacker sends out a large batch of spam that includes either a file such as a Word document or PDF with malicious code in it, or a link to a site where the malicious code is hosted. In either case, once the attacker’s code is on the user’s machine, that PC is now part of the botnet. The attacker can issue remote commands to the PC, upload data from the machine, download new components and generally do what he wants with it. Botnets are significant because they have become tools that both hackers and organized crime use to perform illegal activities online. For example, hackers use botnets to launch coordinated denial-of-service attacks, while organized crime uses botnets as ways to spam, or send a phishing attack that is then used for identify theft. Users are reminded on the importance of effective anti-virus and firewall software to safeguard their connections. http://afritechnet..ae/2015/06/what-is-botnet.html |
Rogue and compromised Facebook accounts are being used to share a phoney 'Facebook recovery' message that contains a page designed to defraud Facebook users of their login details, initially and, ultimately, their bank details. Most of the users affected so far have been located in north America and Asia. However, all users are potentially vulnerable and should pay attention to any messages pertaining to come from Facebook that are written in broken English with links to non-Facebook related urls. For the images: http://afritechnet..ae/2015/06/new-facebook-phishing-scam.html |
A denial-of-service attack is characterized by an explicit attempt by attackers to prevent legitimate users of a service from using that service. There are two general forms of DoS attacks: ICMP Flood An ICMP flood attack is carried out by bombarding a network with network packages, using up resources and crashing it. One type of attack is a Ping Flood, a simple DoS attack where the attacker effectively overwhelms its target with ‘ping’ packets. The idea here is that the attacker’s bandwidth is larger than its target’s. A Smurf attack is a smarter way of ICMP flooding. Some networks let network clients broadcast messages to all other clients by sending it to a single broadcast address. A Smurf attack targets this broadcast address and makes its packages look as if they came from within the target. The target broadcasts these packages to all network clients, effectively serving as an amplifier for the attack. As a means of protecting servers, user should consider configuring individual hosts and routers to not respond to ICMP requests. Alternatively, they might configure routers to not forward packets directed to broadcast addresses. SYN Flood SYN floods entail the sending of a succession of requests to a target's system in an attempt to consume enough server resources to make the system unresponsive to legitimate traffic. SYN is short for "synchronize" and is the first step in establishing communication between two systems over the TCP/IP protocol. When a server receives a SYN request, it responds with a SYN-ACK (synchronize acknowledge) message. The computer then responds with an ACK (acknowledge) message that establishes a connection between the two systems. In a SYN flood attack, a computer sends a large number of SYN requests, but does not send back any ACK messages. Therefore, the server ends up waiting for multiple responses, tying up system resources. If the queue of response requests grows large enough, the server may not be able respond to legitimate requests. This results in a slow or unresponsive server. Since SYN flooding is a common type of DoS attack, most server software has the capability to detect and stop SYN floods before they have a noticeable effect on the server. For example, if a server receives a large number of SYN requests from the same IP address in a short period of time, it may temporarily block all requests from that location. Distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks can be limited by using SYN caching or implementing SYN cookies. Both of these methods record IP addresses used for flood attacks. The system then limits the resources the computer will use to respond to requests from these locations. This type of SYN flood protection can be configured directly on server or on a network firewall. Most DoS attacks involve forging of IP sender addresses so that the location of the attacking machines cannot easily be identified and to prevent filtering of the packets based on the source address. Users should be aware that DDoS attacks may also include the execution of malware that: Max out the processor's usage, preventing any work from occurring. Trigger errors in the microcode of the machine. Trigger errors in the sequencing of instructions, so as to force the computer into an unstable state or lock-up. Exploit errors in the operating system, causing resource starvation and/or thrashing, i.e. to use up all available facilities so no real work can be accomplished or it can crash the system itself Crash the operating system itself. http://afritechnet..ae/2015/06/different-modes-of-ddos-attacks.html |

But they are not! As German & English are not the same, despite speaking a similar language, so Annang Efik & Ibibio are just like German & English
