Is the mark on forehead from sujud a sign of piety?

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah preserve him) was asked: is there any report to indicate that the mark on the forehead caused by sujood is a sign of the righteous?

He replied:

This is not one of the signs of the righteous; the sign is the light (noor ) which appears on the face, and being content and at peace, a good attitude, and the like.

As for the mark made by sujood on the face, it may appear on the faces of people who do not even pray the obligatory prayers, if their skin is very soft and sensitive, and it may not appear of the faces of people who pray a lot and make lengthy sujood.

I have always wondered about this topic because sometimes you'd says some good deeds to encourage others to follow but then is it considered showing off? Does it decrease reward when a deed is done openly? I am usually afraid that people will think I am better than I actually am. Aren't deeds done in secrete better than those done openly?

Wa alaykum Salam wa rahmatullah wa barakatu

You don't have to name your child Ramadan. People will adjust to whatever you name your child or Ramadan may end up becoming a nickname. Regadless, you don't have to add Ramadan to the list.

Btw congratulations! May Allah bless your son and make him the coolness of your eyes. Ameen

The lady was wrong. She was frustrated. She shouldn't have taken the job. I am not supporting what she did.

I am just giving an explanation to what possibly happened.
It still doesn't justify her actions.

If a child is too 'difficult to handle', she has the choice of recommending someone else.

What are you talking about? The woman was hard on the kid. But if you look at it again you will see that she was possibly having a hard time curtailing the kid.

Kids with his medical condition are hard to handle.
Are you serious?

She is a physiotherapist and she paid to do her job.

This is NOT the way a child should be treated! She is trained to handle children that are 'hard to handle'.

Just mind my business and do the best that I can. Let my work speak for itself

Is it better for a woman to pray Taraweeh at home or in the Mosque?

Shaykh Ibn Baaz (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked: What is the ruling on a woman praying Taraweeh in the mosque?

He replied:

The basic principle is that it is preferable and better for a woman to pray in her house, but if she thinks that there is some interest to be served by praying in the mosque, so long as she is covered and conducts herself properly, because it is more motivating for her, or because she will listen and benefit from the lessons, then there is nothing wrong with that, praise be to Allah, and it is also good because of the great benefits in that and because it encourages one to do righteous deeds.

He was also asked:

Is it permissible for a woman to pray Taraweeh in the mosque with the men?

He replied:

Yes, that is mustahabb in her case if she is afraid that she will become lazy at home, otherwise her house is better. But if there is a need for that, then there is nothing wrong with it. The women used to offer the five daily prayers with the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), although he said: “Their houses are better for them.”

But some women may become lazy and lose motivation at home, so if a woman goes out to the mosque, properly covered, wearing hijab and avoiding making a wanton display, for the purpose of praying and listening to the people of knowledge, she will be rewarded for that, because this is a good purpose. End quote.

The scholars of the Standing Committee also said:

A woman’s praying in her house is better for her than her praying in the mosque, whether it is an obligatory or supererogatory prayer, Taraweeh or otherwise.

End quote from Fataawa al-Lajnah ad-Daa’imah – vol. 1 (7/201)

*Sheikh Al Bani (rahimahullah) had a different opinion where he mentioned that it is recommended for women to pray Taraweeh prayer in the masjid .

The Messenger (peace be upon him) said:

Indeed the first people who will be judged on the Day of Resurrection are: a man who died as a martyr. He will be brought forth, and He (Allah) will make His favors known to him and he will acknowledge them. Allah will say: What did you do with them? He will say: I fought in Your cause until I died as a martyr. Allah will say: You have lied. Rather, you fought in order to be said that you are brave, and that was said. Then a command will be passed regarding him and he will be dragged along on his face until he is cast into Hellfire.

And a man who acquired knowledge and taught it (to others), and learned the Qur’an and taught it (to others). He will be brought forth, and He (Allah) will make His favors known to him and he will acknowledge them. Allah will say: What did you do with them? He will say: I obtained knowledge and taught it and recited the Qur’an for Your sake. Allah will say: you have lied. Rather, you acquired knowledge so as to be said that you are a knowledgeable man and recited the Qur’an so as to be said that you are a reciter, and that was said. Then a command will be passed regarding him and he will be dragged along on his face until he is cast into Hellfire.

And a man whom Allah increased his provision and granted every type of wealth. He will be brought forth, and He (Allah) will make His favors known to him and he will acknowledge them. Allah will say: What did you do with them? He will say: I left no way in which You like money to be spent without spending in it for Your sake. Allah will say: you have lied. Rather, you did that in order to be said that you are a generous man, and that was said. Then a command will be passed regarding him and he will be dragged along on his face until he is cast into Hellfire.[Reported by Muslim (1905) from the narration of Abu Hurairah radhi Allaahu anhu]
