Three weeks to the April 9 presidential election, the four contenders to the presidency have upped their campaign efforts and are spending incredibly large sums of money in the process.

Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is leading the pack with the use of all kinds of vehicles for himself and his supporters, including hired aircraft and helicopters, each costing at least $10,000 (NI.5 million) per hour, as his campaign train moves from one state to the other.

Tragedy struck along the Benin-Lagos Road, yesterday, when an 18-seater bus, traveling from Lagos to the East, plunged into the Igbese river, the border between Edo and Ondo State . The entire 18 passengers were feared dead.

It was learnt that the accident, which occurred at about 12:30 p.m., happened when the driver of the bus lost control of the vehicle and ran into the river.

Reacting to the series of accidents witnessed along the road of recent, the national coordinator of Save Accidents Victims of Nigeria (SAVAN) disclosed to journalists that, at least, 200 persons have died along the Benin-Lagos Road in the past few months as a result of accidents associated with the bad state of the road.

Not an excuse, but an realistic view to performance at the debate. I feel JG or his silly advisors should have at least done a collabo with NN24 and BON. In any case, ACN (in reality Tinubu and his family, since his son-in-law and and wife + cousins are all now cashing in on the largesse) is hinging its presidential hopes on one man - BRF - a man they blackmailed, vilified, and oppressed, and thats the party thats calling the PDP corrupt, common!

This was a very good opportunity for Nigerians to get a different glimpse of thier potential leader, unfortunately Goodluck didnt show up, which in my mind shows an element of disrespect to the other candidates and Nigerians in general. Renew the system for all your care, as long as corruption persist, we will be at the juncture come 4yrs from now. Like most(all )crumbling sectors, corruption remains the single most damaging factor

Is there really a problem with the system as such, or a problem with the implementation of se out process. We might find that resource allocation might not be the problem, but corruption prevent resources from reaching where they are desperately needed.
