My spousal visa application was granted. Got my passport this morning. Glory to God. Thanks for everyone on his platform for their help and submissions so far. I have been a silent reader and used and follow everything I've read on here.

Whew!!! What a long wait.
Country - Nigeria (TLS)
Biometrics - August 9th
Type of Application - Standard
Email confirming Information sent by TLS- August 9th

No Emails received in between application.

DHL Phone call to pick up my package at their office( quite strange as I received no notification from TLS or immigrations) - October 28

Date of decision - October 23rd

Glory to God. Travelling in 3weeks.

But I have a question. The validity of my stay on the attached letter states 30th October 2019- 30th July 2022. That's 2yrs9months. I thought it should be 2yrs5months?

Thanks

Learnt a lot from here. Was a silent member for a long time. Thanks for the resources available for intending applicants.
Good news await those still waiting. Amen!
Congratulations. Pls is it NARIC you use for your test of English? If yes please how much did you spend for NARIC?

Good day house. Please I am asking on behalf of a friend. My friend wants to do court marriage in Bariga registry in Lagos to use it for her spouse visa application, she has gone to the registry and she was told the certificate is very authentic and can be used internationally. But the problem now is that some of her friends told her that local registry is not acceptable by UK Embassy only federal registry at Ikoyi. Please house how true is this? She is a confused. And beside the money for Ikoyi registry is higher, they were charging 60k while Bariga is charging only 15k. I will appreciate your suggestions please. Thank you.

This is my story as attached, I can say I came, I saw and I conquered all to the Glory of God almighty.

I thank everyone on this great platform, respect to you all, especially @justwise, though we had some rough patch, but I must comend your effort and contributions.

Let me quickly add that, though I did not pay any lawyer to have this refusal over turned, but I actually paid for information and base on trust, I never regreted doing so, cause information is power.

And I will also mention that, there is review and once you have a solid case and you can prove it, they always over turn their decesion, because the home office know cases that can get to court and they will lose, they don't try it, cause in judicial review, the loser actually pays the winner.

Thank you house, thank you all, I wish everyone on this great platform all the best in all we do. Appreciate.

God bless you all mightily.
Congratulations guy! I like y courage. Happy you got it

Hello justwise and all the gurus in the house, please am putting together documents for my mums interview, i have attached her 6 months bank statement which shows her salary but she also runs an unregistered side business which i explained in her cover letter as the source of extra incomes in her account and i will love to attach invoices issued to her customers as proof of this business, i will like to know if one month is enough or do i need to add 6 months of invoice too ? I would really appreciate any response.
No interview. Just submission of documents.

You need six months of invoices. Infact all the documents issed to her customers. Depending , y mum can issue invoice three times in a month to her customers. I will advise that you scan all the invoices and paste them on Microsoft word and write on the heading INVOICES FOR GOODS/ SERVICES or any heading of y choice.

i am so grateful to God almighty that my uk visa application was succesful though i don't believe in prayer over visas,if our country is good no one will be desperate to leave.
i stated in my application that my budgetted expenses for the 14days trip is 2m and the visa was granted.no relatives in uk,will stay in hotel.

i am writing these maybe it can help others in their applications and also help the ones refused in their reviews.

i intend to travel dec14,though the visa starts from october i'll appreciate suggestions from the ogas in the house on how to arrange and package myself in these areas----airline/ticket,transportations,location to choose and places to visit.so the journey could be a memorable one.
thanks
Congratulations! Happy for you

U mean your estimated budget was 2M for 14days trip? shocked
i.e flight fare return, accommodation, living expenses and shopping?

OR u have buget of 2M as your closing balance? A bit confused here. Kindly explain.

There are so many beautiful places to visit in central London, just goggle it.

i was refused 2007, i made the application through an agent back then, all information used by the agent then was fake even my international passport was not having my correct info except my name. i was so furious after the refusal seeing those errors,i had to do another passport with my real details aftewards,i applied to us twice and i was also refused, after reading alot about people's experiences and a word of encouragement from justwise i decided to give a try,
i did my biometrics on 30th of july and i was sent a mail on 23rd of august to pick up my passport, i was given 6month on my virgin passport

i did all the application on my own even with my mobile phone
i don't have personal account except my coporate and i run all my expenses with the account, though i stated that in my cover letter.

documents submitted.

cac cert.
property doc (survey and family receipt)
nepa bill
lawma bill

Mail that application was not straight forward on 7th June, 2019
Refusal letter through email (sensitive in subject) on 17th June, 2019
Collected Passport email on 19th June, 2019

Documents submitted:
Intro letter from work
Five months’ pay slip (salary of 1400 cedis thus about 88,683.04 Naira)
Work id card
Her fixed deposit certificate rolled over every quarter 12,000 cedis (798,346.98)
Her side business registration documents. Note that she uses her savings account to run this business. She did not add any tax documents
Sale and purchase Receipts from her diapers business
Salary account statement: with a closing balance of 1.86 cedis (123.74 Naira). We explained this balance because they are advised at work to move their funds from salary to their savings account
Savings account statement: with a closing balance of 18,000 cedis (1,197,520.47 Naira)
Husbands consent letter
Marriage certificate
Birth certificate of her children
Flight Itenary from tap Portugal which was very cheap so it reduced her budget to 630 pounds
I also added my passport details because I have traveled to USA, Portugal, UK (3 times) to visit our sister who provided her the invitation and her documents

After all these and she was refused. Well even though her salary was not that mush she was truthful and she only wanted to visit the UK for a short period. She was actually sponsoring herself so the budget was 630 pounds. From the refusal reason, I knew it would be difficult for her to re-apply and counter the refusal reasons because they were mostly subjective based on that the ECO and they might use the same reasons to refuse her again if we re-applied that’s why we opted for the Judicial review because I was made aware that with this method they might review the application without requested for additional documents
I then got a contact of a solicitor in London through a facebook post of someone who had gotten his refusal overturned because he wanted to go for British army assessment. I contacted them and they assisted us through the judicial review. I have just attached the concluding part of the pre-action protocol which is a pre-requisite for a judicial review.

Timelines for the Judicial review:
1. Went into agreement with solicitor and sent all documents and refusal letter to solicitor on 18th July, 2019
2. Solicitor sent the Pre-Action Protocol to home office on 24th July
3. He sent me a mail he received from UK home office which I have attached here
4. The same day he sent me the email, our sister in london said an officer called her and asked her soo many questions about my sister her. They asked about the work she does and also asked her about the side business (start date and what she sells)
5. Visa Officer called my sister here on 22rd August, 2019 that her application had been re-assessed so she should take her passport to the British embassy
6. She took it to the embassy and the visa was stamped into her passport whiles she was there and she said me a picture of it.

I thank God that the arguments raised by the lawyer who also made references to some similar immigration case made sense to them so there was no need to proceed to the next stage of the judicial review which involved filling the motion in court.
I can send you more screenshots on how the refusals was challenged if it’s allowed on this portal. At least people will also learn one or two things from it. The joy on her face makes me soo happy that I was able to get her refusal overturned as a big brother

Attached are the refusal letter, a screenshot of just a part of the pre-action protocol sent to home office, email from home office

Thanks be to God
Wow! Massive congratulations!!!! Good news . Courage and determination. Well done!!

TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by Monmarri: 6:03am On Aug 24, 2019
Thank you for your explanatory response. At times, I wonder why some ECOs don’t scrutinise visa application very well. I only stated in the application that I will visit for only 6 days, from 8th to 14th September.

The large withdrawals were monies for a building project which I embarked on and also payments for my Postgraduate program. 1.Though I never thought it could be an issue as I would have submitted receipts as evidenced if the withdrawals.

2. How do I establish savings from my previous salary? I have been earning salary since 2012, hence the opening balance.

That is bad of the ECO. Atimes they make mistakes too. My advice when you apply, highlight the six days from either your hotel reservation or any place you stated the six days and make clarification that u stated 6 days not 14days.

1. Same here, never knew that withdrawals will be an issue. Even in my previous visa I have made large withdrawals than my stated monthly disposal and my visa was successful. "God's favour" .I taught is mostly on large credits they are concerned. We all need to be careful bc eco are looking for slightest thing to refuse visa. In next application try to explain the reasons for large withdrawals with prove and be careful not to withdraw more than you stated in monthly disposal. I will advise that u made use of the narration in your mobile app when making debit transactions. E.g monthly expenses & savings OR just monthly expenses. This usually reflect on y statement when u print and mark as proof too.

2. You can't establish savings from your previous job.

Saving is income not spent, or deferred consumption. Methods of saving include putting money aside in, for example, a deposit account, a pension account, an investment fund, or as cash.
U can only start to make savings for atleast six months or one year bf u apply. And the savings must be explained. E.g you earn 380k, every month you withdraw 100k for monthly expenses and you withdraw again 50k and deposit it in another saving account without withdrawing from it for complete six months or one year. That is how u can establish savings. And this need to be explained to eco to convince the eco that the savings are genuine. E.g from all my source of income every month I make 380k which is the only credit entries in my salary account. There are debit transaction every month which is 100k for my monthly disposal/ expenses and debit transaction of 50k transferred to my GTB account as my savings which is only the credit entries. Note: you can not use another source of income not explained as your savings bc ECO will like to know how, and where the source of your savings is coming from.

Why the ECO lay emphasis on savings, is because the large withdrawal u made can not give you that amount u stated in the opening and closing balance. So when you withdraw that large amount, it means towards the visa process, u started making credit entries and u said you have no other income. So where do the money comes from to make up the closing balance if such withdrawals was made. The same with opening balance. This ECO are very professional and your application was not decided by one eco, it was collectively.

Moreover, they are not concerned so much about the final balance. They want to see how the flows through the account map in to your personal circumstances and lifestyle.

In next application take your time and work on your mistakes especially the personal and financial circumstances. I believe u will be successful. All d best
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by Monmarri: 11:20pm On Aug 23, 2019
Please dear house for those of us that their visa is successful kindly let us know your opening and closing balance. And supporting documents submitted while those that are not successful should kindly post refusal to get advice on next application. We also learn alot from these refusals and to make adjustments where necessary.

My observation from a refusal letter I read, we should all be careful of withdrawals now. Pls let us be careful of large withdrawals from our account, like the way we are careful with credit entries. Make sure that you did not withdraw more than the stated monthly disposal u wrote in y application. ECO are looking for slightest way to deny visa, let us be careful! The way we work on our credit entries let us do so to our withdrawals.

TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by Monmarri: 10:10pm On Aug 23, 2019
ancestorial:
Please kindly analyse and proffer solution to this refusal letter. Thanks
So sorry about your refusal. Your application was refused under paragraph v4.2( a) and( c)
(a) The Eco is not satisfied that u will leave the UK at the end of your visit
(b) That u are genuinely seeking entry as a visitor.

In next application try to convince the ECO that you are genuinely seeking entry as a visitor and you will leave the UK as soon as y vacation is over. Give prove of ties, your family and job to convince eco that you have strong ties that will make u returned home.

Your personal and financial circumstances was what was used to evaluate your application and supporting documents.

You said " you are planning to spend 420k (£931) on your visit to the UK and that no one else is contributing towards the costs" That is 14 days trip.

Your budget is not sufficient for a 14days trip to the UK.
How much is your flight ticket returned, your accommodation, living expenses and shopping?
Let me assume this estimate
Flight fare= 260k
Accommodation= 100k ( Hostel for 14 nights)
260+100k= 360k
420 - 360 = 60k
So u are left with 60k which is like £140. Not sufficient enough for living expenses, tourist attractions fees and shopping. The ECO expects you to make available sufficient budget for your trip. He doesn't want you to come and be stranded which leads you to depend on public funds or try to work. My advice in your next application increase your budget if you are making a 14days trips which will be sponsored by U. U earn good salary so your budget should not be managed, or bin selfish to your your self. Make a budget that will make life comfortable for u in your visit.

There are number of large withdrawals made from y account e.g 400k which is more than the stated monthly expenses you stated. You stated 70k as monthly expenses.
You also stated that you have no saving or any income in the application. This makes the ECO not satisfied how your opening bank statement is 1,730,560 when u claimed you have no saving. Eco is not able to identify how these funds have accumulated given your monthly disposable income. So ECO have used the large withdrawals to evaluate you on your financial circumstances.
My advice in your next application try to increase your monthly expenses aleast 100k, money that u know is very sufficient to take care of all your needs in a month. You earn a good salary, atleast let the ECO know that u are not been stigin to your self. That is where the consider your personal circumstances. U earn 380, atleast, if u comfortably spent 100k and save the remaining 280k, not bad at all.

Finally in next application, be careful on your withdrawals, d'nt withdraw more than your stated monthly disposal. And if you also have credit entries that are large, apart from your salary try to explain to eco in cover letter with prove.
