E do. sweetheart don’t worry. You dey complicate matters more. This statement bolded is not a must
Lol. If you say so. I am not complicating matter, just been honest. As far as I know u must earn sufficient salary or have additional job to be able to shoulder all expenses by your self.

How much would be fair for me to budget living expenses and ticket?
Budget atleast 400k for 10 OR 14days trip.

Flight =270k
The remaining amount for living expenses.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by Monmarri: 10:37pm On Aug 07, 2019
giselle237:
you said minimum every one should budget is 400k excluding accommodation and living expenses... hmmm
So by the time we add accommodation and living expenses how much will be evry one’s travel budget... maybe 600k ... hmmmm
Sweetheart I never said minimum every one should budget is 400k. Every body case is different. Your budget depends on your monthly salary. I am referring to the poster budget. We are trying to reduce the budget because of his two month salary is not not sufficient for the trip. He earns 155k . For two months is 310k. After removing 270k or 280k for flight money is remaining 40k or 30k which is small.

So by the time we add accommodation and living expenses how much will be evry one’s travel budget... maybe 600k ..

Your budget depends on the duration you want to spend in the UK. Usually booking for accommodation can make your budget go up. But there are alternatives ways u can reduce it.
1. you can book a cheaper hostel instead of hotel.
2. You can reduce the number of your stay. E.g If you want to stay for three weeks, u can reduce it to two weeks to reduce your budget.( Make sure u stay the duration of time stated in the application)
3. If you have a relative or friend that can invite you, and take care of your accommodation and living expenses, it reduces your budget.

Moreso, before you want to take care of all expenses by your self, u must be earning above 250k monthly to take care of all expenses for your trip.

E.g A person earning 300k monthly and decide to travel to the UK for 2weeks. The person have to make atleast a budget of 500 to 600k

Total cost of trip to the uk is 600k
Flight fare= 270k
Accommodation= 76k
The remaining amount for living expenses, visiting sightseeing, tourist attractions and shopping.

please I feel budgets are subjective.

Every applicant should focus on making their cases solid, prove essentially your STRONG ties with Nigeria to the ECO and pray to God.
I don’t know about 300k travel budget.. that is low
My dear balancing the both is very important, especially the financial aspect. Even if you have all the solid ties here in Nigeria and you did not make available sufficient budget for your trip, ECO will refuse your application. The fianance requirement is very important and if one is not very careful and calculative on it , the person gets straight refusal. The poster is concerned about the budget. The ties can be job or family or money, e.g pension money. which he can explain in the cover letter. Many have gotten visa with just their job as tie. All one need to focus on is convincing the ECO that you will definitely return back to your own country after your vacation is over, because you respect immigration laws and will not like to leave your good job and family and stay as illegal immigrant in the UK. This alone have convinced the ECO.

My salary is 155k

Opening balance is 3 million

Closing balance is 1.1 million
Since your closing balance is 1.1M it is just enough for u to travel and still have more left in your account. Since you have this amount and working why not u take care of some of the budget by your self, then if you are going on invitation, the person inviting you takes care of accommodation and living expenses, with this u have cut down y buget. But your budget should not exceed two months of y salary.

If you are bugeting 300k as a tourist it is not enough.

Estimate:-
Flight fare return= 270k
The remaining money left is 30k which is £65 and this is not encouraging as a tourist. U should be thinking of a budget of atleast 400k excluding accommodation and living expenses. The remaining money after the flight deduction will be for shopping, transport fare to visit tourist attractions and money to hold for hand.

Since the budget of 400k is more than your two months salary, your sponsor might take care of your flight ticket and the rest of your estimate goes to living expenses and shopping.

Many thanks Monmarri, I am indeed very happy too smiley

For the applicant's employment details, what was submitted was:

(1) Bank statement (also to show financial details between the couple) - (Section (4n) in my Application Outline summary)
(2) Employment letter - (Section (8d) in my Application Outline summary)
(3) A breakdown of salary entries (this was done to also address previous Visit Visa refusals - (Section (Appendix A(i)) in my Application Outline summary)

I did not submit payslips and/or staff ID card (but I don't think submitting them would do any harm).

I hope this helps... Best Wishes!
Many thanks . I appreciate your response. Please I will keep intouch for future application.

Ladies and gents, good day
Has anyone had the experience of the spouse getting a spouse visa and then staying in Nigeria for a year to do something like Law school?

For example; get spouse visa in October 2019, visit the UK to collect biometric, go back to Nigeria to start Law school in November

Can this affect extension later?

It will definitely affect it. It will affect the further leave to remain (FLR) and might even make home office to cancel the visa. My advice why not the spouse visit the partner with visiting visa, go for law school, then after law school u apply for spouse visa.

He can also apply to settle in the Uk if he has a EU spouse regardless of the number of years that the EU spouse has spent in the Uk. He gets six month Eu family visa and once he gets to the Uk, he will apply for settlement under the EU settlement scheme which will give him five years residence permit.
Thanks for your contribution.

I never said it’s impossible to reapply and be granted, I said it’s a hard coz he was once told to leave UK. You should know being told to leave UK means 2things either the person made application to home office to stay in UK or caught by immigration, otherwise he or she won’t have such record in Home Office. Whoever that didn’t apply to stay in UK or caught and left UK after their visa expired won’t have record with Home Office of told to leave.

Anyone can reapply and be granted irregardless of their situation before but we should be honest about the chances he or she has got.
All these messages u are passing across is enof. Every body have different cases. Nothing like been honest with his chances of getting visa. Many had worst case than him. Even if one apply again and get refused , there are still chances of getting tourist visa. Let us try to be positive, period! Enof of all these messages please.

Good evening justwise and gurus in the house. Please I need someone to send me a sample of a cover letter urgently. Thank you.
Cover letter is just making explanation of what u want the ECO to know. This guidance will give us glue on what to write.

Date
Address of UK Embassy in Lagos or Abuja
Dear sir/madam

Cover letter for tourist visa
Name, date of birth, nationality, passport number, standard visiting visa.

I am writing in support of my application. You start to discuss every details in paragraph. Write what u feel the ECO should know about. For example:-

Inflows of cash
My salary is my main source of income that enters my account, explain any big credit entries if you have any.

Savings
If you have savings explain

Other assets if you have

Itinerary
Talk about your itinerary (attached as well).

Accommodation
Talk about your accommodation if someone else is taking care of accommodation for u.

budget
Air ticket
Accommodation
Living expenses
Shopping / Miscellaneous

Total estimate of xxxxx which will be funded from my savings account or salary from first bank and GTB.

Mention your supporting documents.

Finally convince the ECO that u are a genuine visitor only seeking entry for a tourist visa as stated in your application and will definitely return to your own country after your vacation is over. Give ties you have in Nigeria that will convince the ECO that u will come bk home.

Thank you

This is what i receiced today, can somebody please tell me what to do because i want to reapply

ECO did not complain about insufficient funds in my last application, i wonder why it was stated in this refusal letter

I also mention about receiving rent in my previous application and also submitted rent receipts and other documents as evidence.

I'm tired of these people.
Sorry about the refusal. Well I have read your refusal and all the objections that the ECO gave. From what i can see ECO was not satisfied with your personal and financial circumstances. Not satified with the authenticity of the property. I will advice you stay away from UK application for now at least one year, give then time so that they will not see u as bin desperate. travel to other countries, build up a comprehensive statement of account and try to make next application straight and simple. Please try to get ready all the documents to support your previous refusal on the property when making next application. All the best in future application.

There’s different between banned for 10years, overstayed and told to leave. Don’t mix it up

Banned is you submitted or used fake documents to gain entry into UK
Overstayed is you overstayed your visa
Told to leave is the person probably made application to stay in UK and refused or caught by immigration.

Told to leave might have something to do with deportation, people do make application to stay in UK and refused and told to leave, some will run away or get deported or the person will voluntarily leave UK

For such person to reapply for visit visa and be granted, his reason must be very strong genuine and relating to family.

@Justblow I wish you good luck in all, it’s a tough situation and never give up in everything you wish for, there’s always a solution.
I never mix up anything. Read my first paragraph well. There are pple with 10years ban, overstay their visa and still apply to get visiting visa. It is still very possible for any one that falls under that category to get visiting visa with a genuine reason. The person might be refused at first application but not impossible to get visiting visa. The only options is for person to distance making application for one or two years, come out clean and truth.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by Monmarri: 8:38am On Aug 02, 2019
Victor4visahelp:
I do understand you are so angry with the ECO blunders but put into considerations other reasons by The ECO, first reading your refusal letter, uve probably overstayed in UK before or otherwise and told to leave. If you keep applying, you will be refused, the only solution for you to enter UK is through settlement visa, right to family life will override that bad record of you been told to leave UK. You only concerned about the ECO blunder on your income calculations but you are not worried you have been told to leave UK in 2008.
Not true. Every body case is different. There are some that have been told to leave, overstay, banned for 10 years they still apply for visa and come out honest, apologize to ECO, make fresh application, the ECO still pardon and give visa. At first it might be refused but not impossible to get tourist visa again.

For the settlement visa u mentioned, he can only apply to settle in the UK if he gets married to either British citizen or a person that have indenfite leave to remain. (ILR). He will still have to come out honest again concerning his previous application. If he is in Nigeria making application for settlement visa just note that he can only apply for settlement visa 2ru spouse, fiancé and ancestry visa. More so there is age limit on one applying for some settlement visa from Nigeria (i.e if any of the parent are British and want to bring in a child, the child must not be more than 18years old) He can only make application in the UK if only he got married to British, ILR,have kids in UK, have stayed a long time in UK, that is where he can put application based on family life.

My advice to @Justblow is to admit some of the objections that the ECO raised. He should give himself one year before making another fresh application, travel to other countries and also make apologies for overstaying in the uk, I am sure by God's grace u will be granted visa& another opportunity to visit again.

Hello sir.
Please a question; is it ok to indicate on the UK visa application that you have a relative in the UK(uncle) even though you would be staying in an hotel during your visit? Is it safe to answer; NO in that part or YES?

Please guys it's urgent.
Thanks as always
Always be honest in y application. If you know you are in a very good relationship with y uncle, he is legal in the uk, he will give you permission to put his details in your application put YES, but if you have no much information on him ,no good relationship, unable to give you permission just put NO. It is better to put family you are very sure of in y application.

Please, I need help with this.

How does one with siblings who are citizens in the UK, apply to join them?
UK is not like USA where one can apply for immigrant visa for your family to join u. UK d'nt do that. I think it is only EU and their family members are allowed settlement in the UK. The only thing u can get from UK settlement visa are spouse visa, fiancé visa and ancestry visa. However if ones mum or dad are UK citizen and the child is in Nigeria, the dad or mum can apply for the child to join. Note: There is age limit, the child must not be more than 18 years. If more than, the dad can not bring the child to join. I hope this answers your question

Hello guys!

Please for those that have applied;
What do i use to generate this figure for this session?

" Estimate the total amount of money you will be spending for this tripch month including accommodation, flight and everyday expenses. "

1) In the question above, please should I add my tuition to get the total cost or just the accommodation, flight and miscellaneous?

2) And for questions that has currencies as GBP or NGN, which is best I use all through?

3) how do I calculate this? "What is the total amount of money you spend each month?"

Please guys, your urgent response to this 3 questions are vital to me.. thanks as always
1. What do you mean by " my tuition"? The total amount you will be spending on your trip include your accommodation+flight ticket return+ living expenses which mean, your feeding, drinks, transportation fare to visit tourist attractions and then shopping ( If you wish) Calculate the money you will spend in all these and give ECO the estimate. Meanwhile the estimate depends on the duration of your stay.

2. The one that is much easier for you to calculate. I will prefer using NGN.

3. The amount you spend every Month on your self as you receive salary notification. Feeding+ DStv or gotv monthly charge+transportation+dependant ( If you have)+fuel+shopping etc. Just calculate how much you spend every month and write the figure in d application.

Good all@ Justwise and other.

.I am widow with to 2kids, will like to go on vacation with my kids to UK .I am scared to state am a widow so it wont look like am running away .

Do i travel alone to show am coming back. I am gainfully employed with the federal govt.

I have all the document to prove i can travel and come back. I have never travel before OR do i apply for the three of us.

please I need your advice
Please ma be honest in your application I beg you in the name of God. There is nothing like telling the truth in visa applications. Click on the widow button on the application when asked. U can never be refuse a UK visa bc u are a widow and beside if you give the ECO genuine reason of traveling and convince him that you will definitely return back to your home after your vacation is over I don't see reason ECO will refuse u visa. If you meet all their UK immigration requirements and rules for tourist visa you will be given visa.

Since you have a stable job and sufficient income to travel weigh your salary, buget and income in y account, if is very sufficient for three of u to travel no worries, but if it is not just travel alone.

your job is your tie and if you have asset u can also include it as tie. All you need to do is to explain to ECO that you have a strong tie which is your job and your family, that you can not abandon your job and family to choose to be illegal immigrant in the UK. Just convince the ECO why you are a genuine traveller only seeking entry as a visitor. More so you can attach any proof to show y husband is late. All the best

Hello house, I bring good news. My mum and brother just got their visit visa valid for 6 months cheesy. My mum is retired and self-employed, this will be her 2nd time visiting the UK. While my brother has 2 years work experience in IT but no travel history and first time applying for any visa.
I put a budget of 3K for 2-weeks stay for both of them (fully sponsored by me).

Timeline (Standard): TLS Lagos VI
20th June: Submitted online application (document self-upload)
26th June: Biometrics
18th July: Call from UKVI (asked if I was inviting anyone and how long they are staying, if I am fully sponsoring and how much, my brother's job title and company he works for, my immigration status in the UK and my job title...I think that was all)
19th July: Received email stating 'Application Concluded'
23rd July: Passport ready for pickup
Picked up passports same day with both visas approved

These are the documents we submitted with their application:

Mine:
1. Invitation Letter for both of them (electronic copy with a scanned picture of my signature)
2. Copy of BRP and my passport data page
3. Tenancy agreement (scanned copy with signatures)
4. 6-months payslip (e-copy)
5. 6-months bank statement salary account (downloaded from my online account with no bank stamp)

Mum:
1. Cover letter - highlighted my mum's sources of income, she collects pension and is also self-employed. I also highlighted how much she has currently in her savings)
2. Copy of previous UK visa
3. Company CAC certificate
4. Pension Letter
5. C of O of residential house
6. Land C of O
7. 6-months bank statement (the one that her pension and income from her business comes into)
8. Excel table explaining deposits into her account, with 4 columns - Date, Amount, Sender and Purpose of transfer (we highlighted any inflow greater than 50K)

Brother:
1. Cover letter - highlighted his job, how much he earns and how much he currently has in his savings)
2. HR Letter of introduction
3. Work Offer Letter
4. Work ID card
5. 6-months payslips
6. 6-months bank statement (both salary and savings accounts)
7. Excel table explaining deposits into his account, with 4 columns - Date, Amount, Sender and Purpose of transfer(we highlighted any inflow greater than 50K)
*I was a bit worried about the fact that we didn't include tenancy agreement for my brother because he shares a flat with his colleague and his name is not on the agreement but thank God that it didn't seem to matter. We didn't include tax cards either.

Thanks to everyone who contributes here, especially to giselle237 & MadameW for taking the time to answer my questions. God bless you all!
Congrats. Happy news. One thing with UK if your application is straight forward u will be given visa. Congrats to y family. Moreso for the tax card no worries provided your brother pay slips are showing tax deduction, so that is why ECO no worry of tax card
