Ernesttoby30: Good morning all. Please I'm about to buy a Nigerian used honda civic car for e-hailing, but i really need your suggestions.
1) Is there any significant difference between civic 2007 and that of 2008 Especially in terms of fuel consumption?
2) Also as a novice in auto world, what should i look out for when buying a Nigerian used car?
I came across the two model (2007/2008) but i can't afford the 2008 for now due to the amount involved. It's actually difference of over 200k. Please your suggestion will go a long way. Thanks Stick to dru's 03 - 05 bullet proof model. I will strongly advise you to avoid the 08 series.

Pearl1910: Lolz...so we should be writing proposals to all ehailing companies in d world to come to naija so we can achieve better work conditions? What if they come and do what they find is obtainable in Nigeria. Or do u think the MO of Uber/Bolt in Nigeria is same with their Europe and America branches? What is this better work conditions, that you are desirous for drivers? Competition breeds innovation, it is either Lyft or other ehailing giants come with innovative ideas or they exit the market, my argument is that the completion to retain drivers on their app will be to the benefit of the drivers. Let me repeat, We don't need another bureaucratic structure masquerading as Union to make this happen. Have you asked yourself an honest question why some of the indigenous apps backed by the so called mushroom ehailing unions with covert support from Mc Oxxxxx and co..., have failed to stand the test of time. |

Felicity001: This and many more are reasons I'm beginning to accept the fact that we as ehailing drivers need a union... I was reading a post on FB the other day and saw how a driver was arrested at the ajao estate riot that happened last week it was some security guards that helped him secured his car while he was been whisked away by policemen he called pedca or what ever their name is and the exco members came for his release. I don't know if the young man has been release yet.
The guy that was arrested along Igando is another issue, how about the once that was given a drug package to deliver and was arrested in airport sometimes early this year, time will fail me to list those that have been killed or car snatched. A young man was shoot in the eyes at ojuelegba last year by some gang... A rider explained this to me while on a ride his girlfriend married him out of pity after the incident.
The fact is clear we all need an umbrella to stand in when rain and sun come otherwise these app companies will keep making a mess out of us as a people.
Doctors have union Engineers do Accountants do Truck drivers have union Even market women have union Why can't ehailing drivers have a union to challenges the battle be falling us as a people
Its time we all begin to think not just how to earn a living but how to make a good living with pride, dignity and in a safe environment and to be regarded as humans and not mere animals.
Together we stand, divine we fall. We don't need a union, and certainly don't want another animal farm . .. the only thing that can guarantee drivers welfare is more competition... imagine Lyft and other international ehailing coy starting operation in Nigeria. The bonuses that would be offered to drivers would be insane.... This is what we should channel our energies into making a reality. |

If you have no physical impairment, uber will give you more value than buying a piece of land. Within 12 to 18 months if you are ready to work hard, you should be able to make N1.8m to buy another piece of land and you can use the cash flow form uber to develop the land... |

CheerfulGiver: Dont change anything you're doing... It will regulate itself. To add, don't speak unless spoken to.
As long as bolt is concerned, even if you drive a 2021 Rolls Royce, you can't maintain 5.00. I recall back then reading a negative comment on uber, that I was rather quiet during the trip.. so she wanted me to be her mc basket-mouth. If you politely tell a rider you can not wait that long and he/she should order another cab, some will automatically dash you 1 star. Tell a rider you can not enter their gated apartment, at night, they give you this look, like other drivers do, so what is do special about you... the rating loading for you will surely not be 5 stars. |

davit: So you see the shitty fares I was referring to the other day? I use the app sparingly these days. Abeg, go do your bolt stuff nah Please we should not get emotional about indriver pricing model, it is to meet the needs of certain segment of commuters. There must be a reason, why you and I still have the app on our phones. Drivers use indrive to move from dead zone to hot / surge zones, to get to their preferred destination. Please what ever bonuses you are enjoying on Bolt or Uber do not discount the "indriver effect". |

Felicity001: Divers like me will never want to partner with a prospective partners like this because it looks like a trap and problem ahead
Don't go into a business because you're having financial challenges, simply sell the car outrightly instead of relying on 50k that may not be enough to solve your financial needs or put the car in good shape for the driver to work wifh productively and effectively. You may end up using that upfront payment to solve problem when it enters your hands and from there problem start btw u and the driver.
This is not a tokunbo car by the way so what makes you think 50k will make it uber standard? No it wont. Even direct tok need a minimum of 150k to bring it up to standard let alone a 9ja used.
Best option is outright sale. Save yourself some stress. No pampering, just the brutal honest truth... good advice |

Crime › Re: Passengers Strangle Lagos Doctor-Turned Uber Driver, Steal Car by MoonlightDrive: 11:16am On Sep 09, 2021 |
I won't be surprised if these boys work for a syndicate. I suspect this may not have been their first car hijacking... Their error of judgment was that they were unable to trace the car tracker... so they were sure the car had no tracker... that is why they went to celebrate. kudos to the guy that installed the tracker... I recalled when a tracker was about to be installed the guy doing the installation told me to leave the car, reason being in case of robbery incident i will not point out the car tracker wiring system.
The mechanic should also face the same punishment as the boys. The intended buyer should also be fished out...
The practice of tinting uber cars should also he looked into... if you are a uber driver and your car is tinted it is advisable you do not work at night. If you are engaged in any form of struggle other road users would not be aware and so can't raise alarm or help you out.
A red flag is when pick up point is at a bus stop and also drop off is another bussrop or public relaxation hotzone, when it is at night, my advice is to avoid such orders when the passenger are 2 males.
RIP. |
