Y1nka: Lol.....
Well, I'm an active uber/Bolt driver, 27Years, i joined when I needed to raise more money to assist my business in tourism with my car (Hyundai elantra 2009) , and yes I love driving too, with an activity score of 96% , and 4.55 ratings.... Here is my advice:
YOUR JOB: most people think the job is about driving, but driving drunk people night from ikeja to lekki, or driving someone late for a business meeting from lekki to ikoyi is not just about handling the steering wheel, its more ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE behind the wheel. Patience, and plenty preserverance. Trust me you can drive someone so good sometimes and still get a poor rating. Dont give up though, there are still nice riders out there.
*Car TYPE*: choose cars that are both FUEL EFFICIENT AND DURABLE at the same time. Corolla, Hyundai Elantra, Camry and hyundai accent are good choice. Honda civic, kia Rio or nissan sunny as last options.
*FARE*: don't expect to build a house in one year whike driving bruh. A trip from ikeja to lekki would normally cost from 2,500- 3,500. Deduct fuel (about 400-700naira fuel if in traffic with my elantra ) and commsion (25% from uber , 15% from bolt). Such trip may come just like 5 -7 times a day (due to high pool of drivers) you'll realise the money just isnt that much, but sometimes its enough..... For upkeep.
*About maps* : start with them because you dont know the roads but be VERY VERY VERY cautious of one way. Police , task force, traffic warden , local government task force (mostly around mushing and unila) are always waiting patiently for you to make mistakes. There are plenty roads on the map that are actually one way, so watch the signs a lot....... Or beg the officals with 3k to 10k for bribe (calculate how many ride that is).
Road signs:ALWAYS FOLLOW THEM NO MATTER WHAT THE RIDER SAYS.
EXTRA : hot zones are : unilag ,surulere, mushin, ogudu , and lekki.
Good luck Thanks for the refresher... But make Dru no hear say you call his beloved bullet proof civic as last option |

clemils1: Good morning guys . I need your advise. I work from Mondays to Fridays and closing time is around 5pm and 7. But I am considering using my closure hours to run Uber with my car including my weekends. I need your opinion if this pattern would be profitable for someone like me. If you work in such companies where the toughest job you do on a daily basis, is walking to get another cup of coffee, i think you can use your closure hours to run uber. |

nwizu042: Heard same story last week buy didnt take it seriously... I think i now do Bolt increasing commission, i will find it hard to believe, with the anaconda grip uber now has on Lagos. Bolt is barely grasping for breath, what i expect Bolt to do is lower commission and improve drivers' experience. The 15% commission is really for what, customer service is dead on arrival, no verification of drivers' current documents, lack of timely or non resolution of drivers' complaints, the list of Bolt Naija (formerly Taxify) woes are endless. |

Gentlelife50: Na so, I was coming back from Ibadan one year like that around 2007 and this Mazda bus driver was behaving like an animal on the road. He got to one police check point and even turn of his lights and chased the police men out of confusion they all ran and leave the road some even entered bush. Lol, I was enjoying the whole show. He turn towards me and said with all seriousness "I am a terror on the in the night" though I was scared because it was late in the night I had to maintain and since then I always say to myself I will be a terror while handling the wheels whether day or night. If they succeed in blocking me I won't open door or wind down I will be begging and block the road until they get tired or I see space to run. My eyes are always on my head, God have been with me too. Na only once I enter CBD guys hand since then I swore not to fall for any of them unless I had no option, I go to CMS anytime of the day and pick riders sometimes they come I run while sometimes they will just be there we will be looking at each other eye to eye. Oboy na jungle we dey ooo Sorry to bust your bubble at the bolded. As drivers improve their defensive strategy, so the crooked cops, lga touts have upgraded their offensive tactics. Once they see that you refuse to wind down your glass or open your doors, the next thing is to yank off your plate number. This happened to me some months back, my first experience, i was on a trip to mushin, you know the traffic lights which leads you straight on to mushin and detour to to fatai atere way, My offence was that i formed a double lane, how do you form a double lane on an express, and i was obstructing vehicles that should be turning to enter fatai atere, but the funny thing is that the vehicle that wanted to enter fatai atere were able to, so i was not obstructing, i refused to wind down, and there was already backlog of traffic, suddenly the police officer just yanked off my drivers' plate, i drove off, used the car like that for the day, by removing the back plate number and putting it in front, to avoid lastma and police check point wahala. when i weighed the pros and cons of getting a replacement or making a replica plate number, i had to swallow my pride went there the next day with my brother, he was the middle man, who sorted out the crooked cop. I just could not imagine giving the cop anything. As the cop was trying to bring out my license plate number from among a pile of plate numbers, he suffered a deep cut on his finger, because there was a broken bottle which he did not see, my brother told him sorry, you should see the look on his face as he was now reluctant to collect the bribe. He collected the money, but all that money may end up in treating that finger, the amount of curses these people receive, should be enough for them to receive common sense. |

oluwaseunla: Some things are wrong in that write up. For a 5W-30 oil, the "5W" talks about condition in winter, agreed, the W stands for winter anyways. The "30", however stands for viscosity at a very hot temperature, typically believed to be 100°C, typical engine operating temperature range of most vehicles.
What it means is that, if a manufacturer recommends 0W-30, and you are in Nigeria, you can use 0W-30, 5W-30, 10W-30. This is because you don't have winter conditions where you are. But it is highly recommended you stick to " 30" graded oil if you want a proper lubrication of your engine.
For oil filters, Fram has never been regarded as a premium filter, it doesn't mean there are no high mileage filters out there.
Oh, for those cars without something written on their oil caps, their owner's manual still indicate the right oil most times. Now i understand better. Thanks |

holyflame: Hello all Pls I need info on how to get of line ehailing requests My uber app is still awaiting aproval Pls anyone with useful info should help Things are getting rather tight down here Thanks for tour kind responses I believe you meant offline request. Think Social Media. Post your request on uber/bolt platforms on nairaland. Join as much facebook,whatsapp/telegram ehailing groups. Post your offline request on twitter search for some of the popular naija traffic sites on twitter Build a cordial relationship with each rider you pick, send them weekly or monthly sms, with discount for their next offline trip. A motivational quote/appreciation message sent to all your riders monthly. Ensure your car is neat and tidy. Since you would be doing offline often, ensure proper verification of your riders, we dont want to hear story that touches the heart! |

tojahh: As school resumes. I got an offline to drop 3kids that lives in my compound off their school and back. 7:30/4pm. Parents say they'd pay 40k monthly. But deal doesn't sound well with me for the following reason.
1. It will disturb my 5am morning runs. 2. What about when I'm not closed to their vicinity after close hour? 3. The mum said she'll go with them a few days because one of the kid is still very young. (1/5mnths). This means I'll bring her back before going my way. 4. The mum might want to stop stop and buy buy on the way as we journey to/from school. 5. 40k is not a big pay for such duty because the children school bus, they were paying 68k per child when it was just two of the kids in the school tho. 6. Uber/Bolt distance for the trip is 800. Hence to and fro for one month is 32k.
Now I don't know how to handle this. I haven't responded to their deal yet. Told them I'll get back to them. How una see am? Because like this.... Local man cannot can. When they tell you they ordered for cappuccino and you are serving them black tea I will advise you to walk on by! |
Who will rate you low will rate you low no matter how much you please them, you heard someone here who rider told she rates all drivers 3 stars. What money are they giving out that is not easy? The token we are collecting compared to the service we are rendering that is not easy. You should know how much they were paying for the same services before arrival of ehailing[/quote] Do your best and leave the rest... Even on short trips of less than N500, i occasionally say thank you to the paying rider.. i too have now and then told some riders, when they complain about the fare, that with the level of comfort that they are getting the fare is more than reasonable, no yellow cab operator would collect such a low fare (it actually takes the grace of God to keep my annoyance from showing). Imagine picking someone with wife and kids from international airport (with luggage) and dropping them off at Anthony for less than N1,000.., When i told them the fare, they were surprised and told me to keep the change . In all things let us be thankful! |

ofime123: pls can someone explain this to me I don't understand why uber is reviewing this fare when the rider have paid me. I carry the guy from skymall sangotedo to computer village then I waited for almost 3 hours for him then back to skymall again so what is uber reviewing when I have already collected money and the fare is no longer on my dashboard. Such a review can give someone HBP... what phone are u using, and keep us in the loop as per uber's response. |
