Good incentives, thats the key.In Kenya, domestic tourists saved the tourism sector from collapse after the election violence. This was due to the fact that Kenya has a new middle class and these vacations were not affordable before. Also citizens and those of EA member states pay lower rates in hotels, parks etc.The response was encouraging and they decided to make the lower rates permanent, not to mention we can travel and settle anywhere in East Africa thanks to the new regional passport. cheesy
Good, now if some of you will change your attitudes and stereotypes against West Africans(particularly Nigerians) more of us might visit your lands on vacation

I have said it over and over, until we learn from the EU and make the AU visa free, I won't bother myself visiting any African Country. I would be the last man to pay for a visa to any African Country. I could, say, pay for a UK visa, US visa, Chinese visa etc but to pay for a an Ethopian visa, plllssss! Asides that, my friends say Tanzania is a NO NO for Nigerian visitors. What about Kenya and Egypt?? Fact is we are too primitive in how we treat fellow Africans and for someone that values courtesy, I will only go where I would be respected. Period!

If you feel the British or the Americans treat Africans poorly, I can only say this: your treatment was a product of your comportment!!!
Visa within Africa are not necessary evils and there are certain blocks within Africa usually according to region who do not have this process. e.g ecowas, eastern block consisting of tanzania kenya and ugande, the southern African countries consisting of namibia, mozmabic, botswana, South Africa and a couple of others so that's not an excuse.

As far as Tanzania is concerned. Some ignorant east Africans do have a stereotypical view of Nigerians as usual but on a one on one basis are normal as they come to Africans in general so if the issue is with Nigerians then we definitely have an image problem we need to deal withother Africans do travel around their continent apar tform Nigerians
Morpheus24 is wright, its difficult here. The days of hustling are over. Nigerians used to hustle on the streets and any where from the nineties to around 2006/7. The unemployment rate is around 20% and you will be competing with locals on jobs if you are coming to find work. Not only you will be hustling for work with locals, there are other foreigners also. You have around 5 million Zimbabweans who are also looking for work desperately, on the other hand you have around 1 million Somalians who dominate the informal trading. Around 1 million Mozambiqans, 1 million Congoleses(DRC), 500 000 Sudaneses, 1 million Nigerians who are hustling, Camerounian, Ivorians, Ghanian, Senegalese, Angolans, Malawians. You can see its a scrumble for resources. All of these people are looking for work, competing with the locals. Its not Surprise when you see the Unemploymnet at around 20%.

The employment sector also absorbs the foreigners in some low paying jobs like Security Gourds, Gardeners and domestic workers which are dominated by people from Mozambique and Zimbabwe. Informal trading dominated by Somalians. Nigerians no body knows what they do. I am just giving you a summary of the whole picture. When you are here you wont be coming into contact with South Africans only, you will meet all sorts of people from mostly African countries and Asia. There is lots of Pakistanis, Indians and chinese. There is just too many foreigner who are scrumbling for resources to survive. Its a concrete gungle, it can eat you up and spit you out.

DO SOME RESEARCH BEFORE YOU COME. WE DONT WANT TO SEE YOU BECOMING STATISTIC.
I couldn't help but start laughing at the bolded part you mentioned

Don't worry we will soon share our sangoma with you one of these days. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

OMG you went on the journey I dream of doing! I can imagine the memories you still have.

Driving from SA to Zambia via Botswana you encounter groups of elephants right on the highway shocked you haven't lived until you've had a grumpy bull elephant try to intimidate you knowing fully well that it can just flip your car over effortlessly, but we were lucky, they moved off the road and let us pass grin There's so much to see in this region (Southern Africa), booze cruize on the mighty Zambezi wink , skiing in Lesotho if you like to ski; if luxury is your thing then luxury cruise ships from Durban to Bazaruto Islands or Mozambican Islands, or from Durbs to CT; visit the sand dunes in the oldest desert (Namib); Mozambique for the great beaches and seafood; Lake Malawi, I could go on and on.

North African countries - I haven't been to Egypt but in Morocco I met the friendliest people, great food, snake charmers in the souks shocked ; I went up into the High Atlas mountains and over to the other side to the edge of the Sahara, visited old castles, even the village where the movie Gladiator was shot; shopped for carpets; rode camels; etc Africa has got a lot to offer the adventurous traveller.
I din't know you could go sking in lesotho. Now on my list,
My kind of African,  cheesy

Dont try to discourage me, just tell me the simple truth that i need to know about SA.
How can I be discouraging you when I told you to visit first and see for yourself how things work before going over there to hustle.

The hustling of any kind of job you are talking about is not as easy as you may think. The only place left where people can hustle without being continually harrassed by the indigenes and the government I am sad to say is the USA and Canada. Although they are gradually tightening their laws.

The unemployment rate in SA is well above 20%. that of the us is steady at 10%. That should give you and idea of what is going on right now
why say so? Can u plz advise me more, sincerely speaking i have no bleeping idea about all this. Plz tell me wht u feel that's better for me to do.
You must be a fairly young lad. The hustling days of Nigerians in South Africa are over. If yo uhave family or firends there whou can school you or have legitimate businesses there then they maybe be able to support you while you try to go to school and increase your skill level and value.

The key is you need TO GO TO SCHOOL!! or create an avenue to become skilled. If you don't have tha skill already it will be very diffcult for you.

The South Africans are not very friendly to Nigerians who are competing with them for limited unskilled labor.

Why do't you go on holiday. Scout the place out for yourself before jumping in with both feet
