TravelWhy Don't Africans Spend Their Holidays More In Africa by morpheus24(op): 5:43pm On Feb 15, 2010
Europeans spend their time traveling their continent which keeps the currency within their region, creates different culturela awareness, helps create a tourist industry and promotes jobs,

The Americans are the same way and would tavel more within the US that say taking a trip to South Africa.

Why don't we a Africans promote tourism more within our borders and keep the currency within these borders.

I mean theres lots of tourist destinations within the continent

I miss intellectuals like BIKO who were real gems in the South African populous. People who could argue political and social issues with a reasonable IQ not the ones who keep comparing skyscrapers, how many tourists come to the country and how westernized their societies appear.

I haven't seen any leaders in your ANC who possess such intellecutal prowess and are able to chart or present a vision for the future of your country yet.

Some of you have become disllusioned Uncle tom's who are now content on Nando's chicken  and driving the latest cars, the rest are scrambling for money and power trying to become the new BEE elite.

Steven BIKO WHERE ARE YOU, ASIMBONANGA!!?

Lagos has been listed as the fifth worst city in the world
Lagos City

The city of Lagos has been listed as the fifth worst city in the world, following a survey carried out recently by the Economist Intelligence Unit. This was made known in a statement published online on Friday by Reuters.

According to the survey, 140 cities were ranked 30 factors, such as healthcare, environment, culture, education, and security, to mention but a few.

The Canadian coastal city of Vancouver tops the list of 10 most liveable cities in the world, closely followed by Vienna, Melbourne and Toronto. The others include Calgary, Helsinki, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Auckland.

African cities dominate the list of less liveable cities with Johannesburg, one of the designated venues of the 2010 World Cup occupying the 92nd position.

WHICH ONE IS BETTER THAN THE OTHER? CHECK THE LIST AND STOP MAKING NOISE
You know that is why you mofo's can't think outside the box much. who is defining the meaning of "livable" in this context. Aren't ther 150 milliion people living there. Have they droppeddown and died.

If you are accepting the definition of "livable' in the western context then bro you might as well peel your skin white so you can become 'acceptable' as well in the hierachy of definitions provided by your masters.
i dont see how the critics are wrong to be concerned about safety in Africa when Africans themselves complain about lack of safety all the time.

and yes, much of the world is biased against Africa but considering what goes on there, wouldnt any ordinary person feel scared? huh

Both Sepp Blatter and the anti-Africa critics have a point.

Sometimes we should look at ourselves honestly although that's impossible.
The reporting should be balanced. If you see any report about SA it usual centers around crime in very popular crime ridden areas that are usually avoided by most sensible people at odd times of the day.

This should be accompanied with the beautiful views of tourist running around the cape, the safaris and so on to give a wholistic viewof the country. imean anyone who watched last years attack would think this was something that was occuring everywhere.

I don't think you would see such a sight inside in Sandton for instance.

Its like showing pics of Ojuelegba and orile all day without balancing the coverage of nice areas in Abuja, Calabar, yankari game reserve and so on.

America and britain have ghetto spots too.
SportsRe: Sepp Blatter Calls Critics 'anti Africa' by morpheus24: 8:08pm On Feb 11, 2010
ignorance for the westerners is simpler than really understanding the truths about Africa.

The whole continent is painted as a cesspol of hungry and dying people.

it is very obvious that for people who have never been to this part of the world and simply get their information from media stories will think everyone that lives here are wretched.

It truly is annoying and something I will continue to advocate against.

I think these ppl are southern migrants of an earlier Sahel civilization that probably predated egypt.
when the desert started to form in the area that was once a tropical oasis, ppls migrated north (north africa and south nigeria/west africa)
i think the carried with them knowledge of iron working and introduced it to the peoples they encountered.

ironworking sites are more numerous and early in nigeria then the rest of west africa. and the yoruba tradition speaks of a god that came to them with knowledge of iron and trimmed the bushes.

i believe that after the Nok civilization fell or even during its existence a group of Nok ppl travelled further south to yoruba land and met with the local natives. i think they did so with edo ppl as well because their art is ironically similar, which is proof of being from a common stock.

idk about their link to igbos though and i doubt it, but the igbos had knowledge of iron working as well, and they say the igbo/cameroon areas are the first places were bantu culture evolved and went on to spread across the continent with their iron tool based roots farming culture and languages.
I concur with the above hypothesis,The Nok are very likely the firts migrations to that part of Africa during the desertification process as far as the dating is concerned. However I believe there had to be a reason for further migration south into the Edo lands and would tie the reminants of the Nok culture to Edo affinities more likely transfering there in to the Yoruba. Thats just logical.

As far as the the south south ethnic groups are concerned, based on language genetics and cultural affinities it is very likely the so called "Proto-Bantu" speakers originated somwhere central of Africa and then there were small pockets of migrations West ,the larger versions towards the east and eventually to the south of Africa.

RSA no man theres no jealousy anywhere but as a figment of your imaginations. lets look outside NL. i also frequent a lot of forums such as oboma social network and topix which also have a large number of Nigerian and SA users. and i tell ya the SA-Naija beef here is childs play compared to what goes down there and in most cases always initiated by the SAs. you cant deny that a lot of black SAs still have a long way to go when it comes to exposure! and xenophobia has always been entrenched in the SA society. the july 2008 incidents only happen to have caught the attention of the world media.
Dem no like  the way Naija dey ginger their swagga.  You see if the 'whiteman' or an Arabian prince, even Chinese man has swagga its comprehensible since thats is the norm for many a black people.

However its dumbfounding that the audacity for a Naija man despite the state of his "country" to have the same swagga + JARA is just incomprehensible since in one's thought process a blackman who doesn't swagga like a whiteman is not capable of such flamboyancy in such situations.

exception being South Africans or AA's who have paid a heafty price for their swagga.

Possibe reason for their "disappearance"could be assimulation into other incoming ethnic groups

Displacement as a result of war stemming from encroachment by  other cultures.

or they simply just died out.

Question is where did they go or what Nigerian ethnic group assimulated them.

I wish they could dig up human fossils and date back as at the same time they are speculated to have existed. would have been nice to comapre them to general DNA date on West or North sahel Africans.

Dude, seriously??!! The only reason a person should visit SA is for the World Cup. I have done my fair share of travel around the world, I have witnessed different cultures, lived in SA for a bit (4 years), and the South African blacks are the most xenophobic & uncongenial people I have ever met in my life, Botswana comes in a close 2nd. Zim, Malawi, Zambia, Angola, Namibia - surprisingly different. It's really baffling, and I've never stop wondering why the 2 countries are so different. I really wonder what's missing.
The diffference is the two countries are still suffering from a lasting effect of isolationism from other African countries until recent. The rest of the countries you mention above are relatively aware of general African Affairs which is why they don't exihibit the fear of dominance inherent in cultures that have been repressed. Its a sad truth and I have long given up on how tocomeup with solutions to breaching the gap because like my pops used to say you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. The Saffers have to come around ie if they ever will.

You really want me to read all that nonsense about some bogus MTV Africa awards to prove that "Nigerian music" is dominant in Ghana? Oh, why is Alicia Keyes in the lineup, but not a gazillion of other US stars? She must be Nigerian I suppose. Believe me, Ghanaians don't follow all that nonsense. We love our High Life, Hip Life, Reggae, R&B, Country & Western, Hip Hop & Rock regardless of nationalities of the artistes. Nigerians just feel so gratified and exalted that we've included their stars in our playlist.
You know its just now I am noticing no Ghana artist at the MTV Afrian awards.CHEi!!!!

There isn't a damn thing called Nigerian music! All that you have left right now are a group of wannabes trying to emulate Americana. All those silly names spouted off by switch47 sounds so ridiculous, especially if read out loud by someone who has never heard of them. Honestly, most Ghanaians don't know who the fvck D'banj AKA Koko master or Banky W are. If your so-called "9ja music" was so popular here, we'd all know them.

When most Nigerians visit Ghana, the place feels familiar to them (albeit without the crime and with prettier women). Aspects of Ghana reminds them of Nigeria, so they just conclude Nigerians dominate Ghana. I've had American friends visit Ghana for the first time and they too noticed and felt quite a bit of Americana, but they just took it for what it was -- diffusion of culture. Geographical boundries are merely lines on paper. Why are you surprised that music made by Nigerian artistes gets played in a Ghana night club?
HA! HA! HA!  see this guy you need to go drink some hatorade bros. You are proving more daft by the minute. Seriously stop before you blow one kind lie you cannot recover from.

Abrantie the fibber grin grin I fear you OOO !!!! I was in Ghana for three months recently up until December . I stayed just near the Chicken Republic. I was in the Batsonaa Total filling station internet Cafe almost every day . I certainly did not come across what you claim to witness . I also use the recently opened Cafe at the Coastal Junction of Spintex road sometimes and did not see "hordes of my kinsmen" at any time . I use Sharpnet at Osu too and the story is the same there also !!! In any case , how would you know they "crowd the internet cafes with Ghanaian names" ? Are you going around the Cafe viewing what everyone is browsing? Or are you a sakawa practitioner yourself ? Once again you are caught making generalisations that defy logic !!! Don't you know when to quit taking your hate juice?

One can always trust insecure Ghanaians to perpetuate lies that suit their agenda of blind hatred against others. I will concede that , a few years ago , a sizeable amount of Nigerians could be spotted in Cafe's accross Accra hurdled over their monitors furtively . That is not the case now and you know it !!! All the Nigerian fraudsters have virtually left mainly because (1) 419 is now largely dead and (2) the Nigerian ambassador to Ghana , assisted by upright Nigerians , has been doing a decent job undermining the criminal Nigerians who wish to tarnish Nigeria's image in Ghana. One has to praise the good effort of the Ghanaian police as well. It might interest you to know that this same Ambassador has inaugurated a registration system for Nigerians in Ghana to ensure that all legitimate Nigerians are known and identified while the few bad eggs are isolated and exposed .

I never said Ghanaians want to be Nigerians. I think it is clear I implied that Ghanaians find themselves unable to resist some Nigerian influence , e.g Music , perhaps because they find it better or more attractive than what they have always known. Town is dead today. Why not take your girl out to a club on Friday . Make sure you pay particular attention to the music played wink wink
