MduZA: you can't even comprehend what you type yourself...who am I to address your nonsense!
Never mind what I can comprehend. I asked a question.
You say Foreigners are infiltrating your country and causing disruptions.
Why are your Zulu Xenophones not marching all the way to Camps bay to flush out all the "White Foreigners" who live there and for many years have been setting up bed and breakfast facilities, employing cheap black foreigners as well.
Is it because your news media doesn't show it to you on T. V?
MduZA: unfortunately the government of SA was doing the brotherhood thing so that poor people from other African countries can also get a piece of cake...it backfired ultimately
Parolee: What jobs are they taking - cutting peoples hair, running brothels, selling sweets and cigarettes by the roadside? That is not important. We do not care about this. [/quoe]
Then why are your illiterates reiterating this in their complaints to government.
[quote author=Parolee post=33315712]Here is the problem: your people came here and created no go areas for SAns in their own land with their bully behavior and criminal dealings. Hillbrow Jhb, Sunnyside Pta, Point Road Dbn and other places have been completely taken over by ruthless foreign criminals to such a point that these areas you have to avoid them completely.....better still if it were SAns carrying on like that - now its foreigners? Would you accept that in your own country, huh? Most of your people are behaving badly and SAns have had it with this! Not anymore.
We have no problem if you want to clean up your streets, by every means go ahead and do so. However educate your illiterate Zulu Xenophobes that there are innocent people who live in these areas who are getting by and foreign communites often cluster in certain areas within a country. Nothing unsual about that. Congolese, Ethiopians. Somali and the likes do this. What is problem. Do you want the whole of South Africa to yourself?
Jewish people control the Western cape and discriminate against your people living in their communities which are no go zones, you are not going there to riot?
Parolee: I remember the other day in Dec 2013 early on a Sunday morning in the Joburg Station area - a group of Nigerians fighting amongst themselves, going up and down the street - it was ugly...it was scary. If people can come all the way from so far off and begin to do that among themselves - what about you as a SAn? Most of your people here behave badly and we have had it about that. Instead of you guys accepting this and talking to them to tone down whatever you choose to lambaste us - just talk to your people down here to tone it down and just behave, please.
We give you permission to flush out Drug dealers and miscreants within immigrant communities. I don't think anyone will ever have a problem with this.
What next now, YOu want us to greet all of you in the morning when we see you. You want us to stand behind you in line as well.
You can take the people out of Apatheid attitudes but you can't take APatheid out of the people
MduZA: you can't stand on one topic because you are clueless...you are worried about white foreigners buying properties in SA...if I may ask you...who owns eko Atlantic?
No I force you to think outside the small box your brain operates in. Don't avoid the statement. Address it instead of digressing about Eko Atlantic.
MduZA: you better give that advice to your fellow young Nigerians to stop flocking to SA for our varsity education
Very Weak comeback.
I am disappointed.
Those Africans in your University are an asset to your system but you lack enough common sense to realize that cause you feel you just got back the country 20 years ago and are adamant on not sharing the spoils with these "black Foreigners".
Meanwhile since 20 years "White foreigners" have been buying up property and land in your country, pricing you out of areas like Camps bay and the likes.
MduZA: this thing of foreigners taking our jobs is neither here nor there...the two major causes of xenophobia in SA are 1.foreigners without proper documentation 2.foreigners committing crimes
I disagree the underlying issues of Xenophobia stem from the following
1. High level of unemployment.
2. Resentment that government services are being consumed by these foreigners
3. the isolation of Township blacks who have been living amongst themselves since Apatheid and have a view that these foreigners are coming in to come enjoy the Freedom they fought for.
4. The perception that foreigners are stealing their women. ( odd since All other AFricans in the rest of the continent have no problem with this)
5. After effcts of APatheid on people who have been subjected to Violence and so act out with this same effect on strangers they want to control .
Now move forward from toi toing and tell your government to revamp your educational system cause Apatheid is gone, no more Jan van riebeeck and Paul Kruger.
Replace the knowledge with people like Jomo Kenyatta, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Thomas Sankara, Patrice Lumumba, Mobutu Sese seko and the likes.
Can you also be fair and report that this was a reciprocal act when the Ghanaian govt did the same to Nigeria in the 70's.
Plus posting that Nigerians committed this act in the past simply shows that SA is still very infantile when it comes to history of AFrica in terms of cases in Rwanda, Ivory Coast, CAR and so with your ZUlu chief using words like "lice" or "cockroaches" to describe foreign nationals.
Voicefilter: I have always known this. You will never hear Nigerian top brass defending their contribution to the struggle. That is because they know the truth and our govt is only protecting the little integrity they have by not exposing their lies publicly.
At this point who cares what was contributed to South AFrica or not. The fact that you people refuse to face the Underlying effects of Apatheid and the fact that the Master/Slave system known as Apatheid instituted a system and mind set that you are still suffering the after effects of is your true problem not whether Nigeria contributed anything to your "struggle" or if there are drug dealers hanging around in Hilbrow.
Get a passport, go and visit other "African" countries and maybe you might just be able to answer those questions for your self instead of hiding in the PSeudo African state known as SOUTH AFRICA which technically by your own admission is not really Africa or technically has an entirely different history from most AFrican countries.
WE DO NOT WATN BRAINWASHED SO CLLED AFRICANS TO LEAD THIS GREAT CONTINENT!
14: nigerians living in SA are not painting nigeria good. Although they are good Nigerians, most of them are involved in shaddy business. Drugs, fraud, prostitution, human trafficking, fake pastors. Its so unfortunate that in those comments, its all about generilization, but you can understand the frustrations. Nigerians dont have a good trek record in SA.
Approximately 10 million Diasporan Nigerians outside the country
Approximately 500,000 Nigerians in South Africa ( if they are that many)
Extrapolate the women and children from that number you get about 250,000 Nigerian men
Extrapolate the semi skilled ones, the barbers, the mechanics, the shop and restaurant owners, the ones in Universities, the Engineers and the wealthy who have the means to relocate.
You are left with about 5% of the 250,000
These are the ones who you say represent an entire population of 160 million people.
Simply because your perception of Nigerians is skewed by their clusters in Hilbrow and sunnyside, what your media feeds you and what your drunk shebeen brothers discuss doesn't make it reality.
RSA: http://www.nytimes.com/1985/05/05/world ... d=tw-share Published: May 5, 1985 LAGOS, Nigeria, May 4— Thousands of illegal aliens, carrying mattresses, clothing and cooking utensils, poured back across the borders to their homelands today, ordered out by Nigeria's military rulers. The foreigners had been attracted to Nigeria in part by an oil boom in the 1970's, but now the West African nation has deep economic problems and an increasing crime rate, which it attributes in large measure to the immigrants. On Friday, the Government opened its borders to speed the expulsion of 700,000 foreigners. It was the first time Nigeria's borders with Benin, Niger, Chad and Cameroon were open since April 1984, when the Government closed them to combat the black market in the country's ailing currency, the naira. The aliens, who were ordered out last month, were part of the second wave of foreigners to be forced from Nigeria by the Government in three years. Reporters at the western border with Benin today said Nigerian customs officials were searching the departing foreigners closely and refusing to let tiem carry out more than the 20 naira, or $17.65, allowed by law. They also said bus drivers were doing a brisk business charging twice the normal fare to carry passengers across the border. The illegal immigrants were among the millions of West Africans, mostly from Ghana, who flooded into Nigeria in hopes of benefiting from the country's oil-based economy. But world demand for oil has waned and the price has dropped, sending Nigeria into a steep economic decline and swelling its foreign debt. In January 1983, the civilian Government of President Shehu Shagari ordered out about two million foreigners, blaming them for widespread unemployment and crime. Roads to the border were clogged with people carrying personal belongings. Maj. Gen. Mohammed Buhari overthrew Mr. Shagari in December 1983, and last month the Buhari Government announced it was giving the remaining illegal aliens until May 10 to leave. But until the Government opened the borders on Friday, only small groups were reported to have left on planes and ships. The state-controlled Lagos radio reported Friday that Interior Minister Mohammed Magoro had met with ambassadors from neighboring countries whose citizens were affected by the expulsion order. The radio quoted ministry officials as saying foreigners would be driven to the borders in ministry vehicles or allowed to buy airline tickets with Nigerian currency. Ordinarily, foreigners must pay in foreign currency. Ghanaian officials said about 300,000 of the 700,000 foreigners were migrant workers from Ghana. Officials said 100,000 were from Niger and most of the rest from Chad and Cameroon. In addition to the attraction of Nigeria's oil boom, many of the non-Ghanaians came to Nigeria to escape drought and the threat of famine in their home countries. ---- BENIN BLOCKS HUNDREDS COTONOU, Benin, May 4 (Reuters) - Several hundred illegal aliens, expelled from Nigeria and barred from entering Benin, camped Friday night in a no-man's land between the two countries, witnesses said today. Benin border officials, who turned non-Benin nationals away, said that Nigeria's opening of the border had surprised them and that they had received ''no clear instructions'' on how to deal with the influx of aliens. Benin officials said they were justified in rejecting non-Benin nationals since many of the aliens might try to stay in Benin because they had no money to continue their journey. No vehicles were officially reported to have crossed the frontier Friday, but witnesses reported that many minibuses and private cars with Nigerian license plates had entered Benin along isolated bush tracks. Foreigners who went through the bush will now have to obtain permits to travel through Benin, a tightly controlled Marxist nation, if they are to reach their final destination.
Parolee: I don't think SA wants to be like Nigeria at all - no!!!!! You are saying - your being seen as the GIANT of Africa takes away some attention from SA? I beg to differ. Right now as I type this the Commonwealth Games inspection team is in Durban inspecting facilities in preparation to award the 2022 games to Durbs.......that alone is proof enough we have enough attention as it is. Need I mention other notable events that will prove to you that SA has got nothing to worry about in terms of attention? You may want to tell me that investors are looking at Nigeria more than they do SA because of Nigeria's big population etc......got news for you, once we complete strengthening our power sector (which for the moment limits investments in the manufacturing sphere) - just sit back and watch in awe the investments that will be made in the manufacturing sector.... Having huge numbers in terms of the population may give you some advantage, yes (attention) - but rest assured it is what you can do even when you have not such a huge population that counts - and in that regard nobody comes close to SA yet. We do a whole lot. That is why we are not concerned about attention. So yes - we are not at all worried about being overlooked - it's just not possible that SA can be overlooked in global matters. You can't even begin to talk about Africa and make references about this and that without citing SA in your sentence.... Oppose this lets hear!
A country that are Xenphobic, have never spilt blood for their fellow Africans and its citizens take the law into their own hands in front of the World to see will never lead this great continent. Africa
smokie: I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry these theatrics. In South Africa we say "Siyaqhuba"(loosely translated, "we're moving"...So if Nigerians have energy to protested in the streets, and act like baffoons that's their issue...we've moved on. There will be no commissions of inquiry, there'll be no investigation, we will move on. The only thing South Africans are demanding is that there be stricter law enforcement, especially on illegal aliens. If you don't have any papers, you have no business being in South Africa.
Why are there theatrics. The protest did not happen yesterday but while the attacks were still going on in JHB and jeppestown so put your statement in perspective.
THe so called moving on is your governments quick attempt to brush these activities under the rug as usual and get on with business of corruption since they know a bad image will definitely cause concern for foreign investors.
14: Market cap is what the company is worth, just like Dangote, he is worth $14billion, that does not mean he has $14billion in his bank account, he could be having less than $1billion in his bank account, hence he still goes and borrows money to expand his business. With regardbto mtn, even if they remove the profit they make in Nigetia, its not like they will close shops the next day. They still make lots of money world wide.
its like saying if you remove every KFC shop in South Africa this will not affect the companies balance sheet, stock price and ergo its Market Cap.
****Shaking my head again****
You are lucky I no be PResido, I for show you mathematics here now!
14: go to their website and check their financial report. Based on the bilateral agreement signed between nigeria and SA, companies investing in africa are immuned from paying tax remittance. google agreement signed in 2013 in cape town. I dont just write staff up without facts my man.
I don't need to read it, common sense would entail that a Double taxation policy or tax shelter would be in effect, where the governments recognizes the taxes paid by an indigenous company to a Foreign state thereby reducing the tax burden in its home country or vice versa.
The company is INDIRECTLY taxed regardless as far as its operations are concerned but is not taxed DIRECTLY on profits.
Let me break it down to you like this. A spaza shop owner does not pay direct taxes on his profits to the government however in order to operate he will pay permits to setup shop, He will pay rent, he will pay electricity , he will pay for movment of goods , he will pay to setup his shop, he will pay for transportation to and fro his shop, he will pay to feed his family, He will buy food to eat etc etc etc!!!
Market capitalization only reflects how much in the market place a company is worth which does not include its SALES OR TOTAL ASSESTS but more or less its stock price!
14: maybe you need to go to their website and check their financial report, then you will wake up from this scary dream. MTN has operations in more than 30 countries, you see its not a small company, with a market cap of $40Billion. multichoice have operations in 42 countries, they make less than 10% of NASPERS profit, which has Market cap of roughly $100Billion SABMILLER has operations world wide, with market cap of $100Billion SASOL, which operates in 36 countries world wide, with a market cap of $34Billion. Its building a catalytic cracker plant in the USA at a cost of $20Billion You can google if you dispute those facts Nigeria cannot hurt South Africa economically
MR economics, so market cap now translates to Sales, profits or income statement.
Tell MTN to remove profits it makes from Nigeria and see what happens to its Market cap!

14: Did you say collapse? You probably doing sleep talking. Maybe you need to just do some research on SA companies. It seems you think SA is surviving on profit companies make in Nigeria. You must get your facts right my man, most SA companies that have invested in Nigeria are global companies. So nigeria could be jaking only 2 to 5% of their revanue. And thise revanue dont add any valu to SA economy because they only pay tax for their operations in SA, not outside of SA. Shoprite have closed 10 stores in east africa and they never felt a single pain. SO you think they will collapse if they shut 23 stores in nigeria, while they have 4 000 in SA.
***SHAKING MY HEAD****
Nigeria is MTN's largest profit maker in Africa and you say it won't affect tax remittance. Olodo!
andrewza: There are over 2 million legally owened firearms in south African civilians hands. More than every armerd government employee. Most are owned by white people. A African living in SA Is a easy target since they isolated and unarmed.
Hmm let see about 5 million Whites in SA. extrapolate the adult male population from that number and you probably get about 1.5 million which means pretty much all of you have guns awaiting.
