Wapgod: What does this mean? I don't really get it? Isn't all earnings attributed to all shareholders in proration to their shareholdings? Look at the two results below, from q3 2020 and q3 2021 you will notice the part of profit attributable to owners of parent company on both results. Note the difference for each year.

They retain large part of their profit to finance expansions and debt servicing But one thing to note is that In time past, much of Transcorp earnings had been attributed to non controlling owners unlike in recent results. |

yMcy56: Aside the businesses mentioned by Obagadaffi, some of these companies also invest in other instruments that generates steady incomes. Remember they are financial company with lots of top notch financial experts that research the market for them and give them the best advice on investments.
Some of them invest in other good companies too.......example is the case of FBNH that invested in Airtel and HW, which they now opted to sell at huge premium. Who knows maybe FBNH picked Honeywell @ 60k or thereabout self. Don't be surprised that some of these financial companies and some other ones invest in Crypto/BTC and all those money spinning investments. International markets are also there..... Let me stop here.......
Don't mind my amateurish way of looking at various means whereby they can generate fund. Just thinking out of the box. Do you know if fbnh completed the sale of their stake in airtel and Hw last year? Will it reflect in their result for 2021? |

emmasoft: Please note there are many factors that determine price movement of stocks at the NGX, not just availability of products alone.
Some of them like investor's or market sentiments are not tangible factors, you may not be able to measure them but they are there.
Another factor is share holding structure of a company, if a company shares are not readily available just as the case of Bua right now the price is bound to move up because it will be scarce. Bua food shares are own basically by one person at listing. Hence it's scarce.
Sometimes it's just a mere new entry factor as we can see with Bua foods investors just want to see what is up.
Also note that there are some investors who knew a company prelisting period and so they know the worth and can stake their money for it and see the listing as an opportunity to have a share of the goodies
The sector and personality behind the listed company plays a major part as well.
I can tell you today at any time a company affiliated with Dangote/Jim/Tony and the likes for example will do the same crazy movement at the point of listing.
There are some companies that was listed at the NGX in time past the market may seems not to be aware just because no positive sentiment towards it.
Another factor is past experience. Many people made millions when Bua cement was listed so many believe same will be repeated with the Bua foods.
The list is not exhaustive.
However, don't bother, water will always take its level that is what market always do to all stocks. Very soon Mr market will put the right price tag on Bua foods when the numbers and figures (financial reports) starts to come out from the operations of the company. it's a matter of time.
"Be fearful when others are greedy. Be greedy when others are fearful" - Warren Buffet My brother, everything about Bua looks somehow. Their cement shares eps and dividend yield dont match their price. This their food company with 18billion shares I wonder how the earnings will look like |

I wait to see the new direction this core investor will pursue But there are free floating rules that may be broken. A single shareholder having 89% stake in a company may not be allowed in the exchange. |

Speculations has it that the Titan will pay as much as #15 for each share of union they will buy from the core investors. They agreed to pay a sum in the region of 1billion $ for the 89% Who knows what the offer will be for the minority shareholders for the remaining 10%. |

IYGEAL: Seeing that TTB is a new bank and not listed on NGX, acquiring majority shares of UBN means they would either buy out minority shareholders at a premium or list on the Exchange at a premium as well.
If they have enough money to buy the majority shares, why not the minority? We haven't read all of it yet.
My 2 Cents. Hmmm. Minority shareholders should get a wonderful deal. They already have over 89% of the total outstanding ding shares and they would have to buy off the remaining 10%. I think the offer should be great |

You can request for your CSCS statement from your broking firm and you will find your bonus included in the list and even others you might not be aware of How do you then explain the fact that you find it on cscs but not on your acct with the broker? Thats something i have experienced personally. For now registrar has done the needful , cscs has it reflected but its not on broker's platform. But it needs to be on the platform cos you dont trade with cscs but the broker's site. |

Justcul: For the sake of newbies getting into the stock market.. It is actually not wise to compare stock prices but market capitalization of companies..
According to my personal watch list on bloomberg.com, you can see that, at current prices, Zenith is more expensive compared to gtbank..
Please invest wisely! My brother, that's not the way to compare or determine the value(which is more expensive) of stocks. Market capitalization is a whole different thing from what you are talking about. If we go by ur method then all we will be buying will be insurance sector cos they have some of the lowest market capitalization on NSE. Market capitalization is only a function of the total outstanding shares of a company multiplied by the unit price per share. Value looks at a company's profitability, fundamentals, sentiments*, dividend yield etc in relation to the price of the stock. Pls don't get them twisted. |
