andyanders: That road I by passed from Shagamu through Ogijo to Ikorudu on my way to Lagos, is what one can tag as the worst road on earth.
The former Minister of Works, then Ogunlewe was so stupid that he failed to do that road when I asked if any government official EVER came from that area. Obasanjo also as I was told failed during his reign to EVER impact on the people within that area.
Worst is the case of their light as PHCN as I was informed do not give light to the area and most of their transformers are not working as most f them were installed in the eighties. I was even informed that they stay without light for more than 8 months.

Amosun and Fashola has even failed to look into the plight of the people with that area because they NEVER see any reason only blaming the Federal government as they refer the road as Federal road. Must the people suffer to stay alive? No good road, no water, no light and when these politicians needs vote, they will find their way to these areas to get their vote and off they go.

There are lots of companies situated along the road from Shagamu to Ikorodu.

Jonathan should look at the plight of these people and reconstruct this road for them as it will help reduce the journey of people travelling to Lagos if they should go though Shagamu-Ikorodu through the NNPC at Fasnmi depot.

Fresh Air is coming to that Road soon... Eko will not Baje because Jonathan is involved..

One can still recall how OBJ strangled Lagos state for four years, just to bring it to its knees!
WHY: Because state allocation was tied to number of local Govts (which should rightly be tied to population size) ..and Lagos rightly felt that with a population of about 20-million, it deserves more local Govt than some states in the North with a quarter of that population but has more Local Govts than Lagos state!

A sensible OBJ would have said, l will only give you what you earn currently, irrespective of the number of lOcal Govt you "arbitrarily create" by yourself. End of story.
But the idiotic baboon chose to deny the state, its Federal allocation till the Eediot was disgraced out of power while trying to change the constitution ala-Mobutu style, for a third term!

*When Yar Ardua came to power, it was agreed that since the F.G is noted for its looting of funds meant for infrastructure, states which construct roads that belong to the F.G (due t urgent need) should be reimbursed, states like Lagos, which are ruled by thieving Governors like Tinubu, felt it was an opportunity to "extort money" from the F.G!

---Lagos repaired some F.G road but inflated the Bill ... and expectedly, the moaning F.G refused to pay!
Even where the cost was not inflated, the F.G saw it as another opportunity to strangulate the state (opposition-party ruled state!) so as to give them a bad name, make the citizens of the state grumble and be disgruntled so that possibly, they can switch their allegiance to the F.G party (PDP).

*Now, if anyone comes here and tell you that "Tinubu" did not contribute to this problem with his brazen stealing of state funds, that person is simply an "Ostrich".
Any sane President would think twice before doling out any more money to Lagos state, seeing the way the Tinubu has cornered ACN and the allocation of Lagos state, even to the extent of demanding by threat, allocations to Local govts! (I would not even bother to go into details of the roguery and shenanigans of this master-looter!Posterity will write his/their history and it will be damning!)

Having "analysed the genesis of the problem", l will expect that sane people )in government and the masses alike) will look at the problem and proffer a SOLUTION WHICH ADDRESSES AND SOLVE THE PROBLEM!

PROBLEM: Bad roads in lagos (most F.G Roads) and the dying thousands of Nigerians (Yes, not only Lagosians die on those roads, trust me on that) dying daily on such roads.

SOLUTION: FIX THE DAMN ROADS ASAP! Simple and straight forward enough, right?

PROCESS:
1.) [b]Get "QUALIFIED EXPERTS and ACTUARIES to determine the "STANDARD AND COST OF EXECUTING EACH ROAD PROJECT".[/b]
2.) Tie jail terms and possible executions by firing squads, to anyone who sabotages such National infrastructure by embezzling the funds and not doing the projects on time, properly and to order.
Whether Mr. President has the courage to do these or whether those useless Assembly (Sin-nators and Reps) have the ball to hold him accountable is another factor)

3.) By Public tender, give the road to the best Coy available; if need be, give it to foreign Coys leek Julius Berger, Guffanti, e.t.c. I recall that one of the roads (Ile-Ife road was given to the company of the Ooni of Ife; that thieving and disgrace of an Oba did a shoddy work and embezzled the money! Ofcourse, the contract was payment for his infamous "the man is talking sense saga" during the IBB must go and Abiola must die era!
Same Ooni of Ife said Yar Adua was doing 50-push-ups per day when he is already kaput, weeks ago!
Such a "disgrace to the Yorubas and everything Tradition stands for". He is a THIEF!)

4.) Realization that no matter the political differences between parties, who rules where or where the road lies, Nigerians must not be allowed to be dying like chicken, on our roads NEEDLESSLY!
Thus, whatever it takes, those roads MUST be repaired and re-constructed.

5.) Finally, we the Stewpid and gullible masses:
How long shall we be at each others throat, defending shyte, defending thieves and treasury looters, just to make a silly point? Dont we realize that we are all in the same "sinking Boat"?
Dont we realize, as Micheal Jackson will put it, "They (Politicians) dont really care about us"?
They only care about how much they can steal, buy Private Jets (to ensure that they never have anything to do with those roads) and go abroad for medical check-up when they fail to build and repair Hospitals in Nigeria!
How stewpid can we be (as seen on this thread), by "taking sides" and defending them with all sorts of stewpid and up-side-down "logic"??

Roads/Transports affects everything and everybody! ...even if you dont drive on it, the food you buy, the provisions you use are transported on that road! What about your extended family members? What about your Gateman and his family? What about your office worker who lives and plies that road?
Maybe Madam (Dame) Patience Mother would still be alive today, if she had told her husband (Mr. President), the "home truth" about the state of that road? ...[b]what goes around will eventually come around.

You supported Federal government for hindering Lasg from constructing this road due your claims of Lasg inflating the price, and also blaming Lagos for not Constructing the road.

Akainzo: For all the rantings you have above there, remember this: Patience Jonathan's mum died on a stretch of FG road (Eleme - Uyo Road) that the same FGN has refused Amaechi to fix. Currently the traffic in Elelenwo axis is so much as people have to divert into Elelenwo to avoid the Eleme highway.

As noted, sometimes the politics of the FGN comes into play in the roads that the states are allowed to fix on behalf of FGN. So you might want to do more digging to ascertain why that road is being abandoned.

ba7man: So your definition of common sense is when the FG corners well over 50percent of Nigeria's generated income and shares the remaining over 36 states.

The states with their various responsibilities still have to help the FG fix the roads while the FG blocks their efforts without plans of fixing it.

Akwa-Ibom can comfortably fix Federal Roads because their population is barely 5million but they receive almost the highest allocation in Nigeria.

Lagos with a population almost 4 times that of Akwa-Ibom is still fixing Ikorodu Road and Badagry Expressway, Abandoned responsibilities of the FG and they still want to add more to it. Face it, FG is a failure.

If the State Governments come together to fix it, the FG will try to scuttle their attempt and some people will scream that they're politicizing it and they should face fixing feeder roads instead.

Its classic "Pull him down syndrom" of the blackman. But its also through difficulties that sucess is made.

Its these difficulties caused by the FG that has resulted in the Southwest being the most innovative and progressive.
