If its a large company, then online application may not actually be a waste of time because they have a large number of persons in their Hr Department who would go through almost every Cv, also the application would not be the ''send to mailbox but details about you would be requested to be filled in the form they would provide you online, if you see this type of application,chances are high that you would be called if you satisfy the requirments. But smaller companies that tell you to send your Cv to a mail or sometimes free emails like gmail.com or yahoo.com is just another waste of internet data and your precious time.
