Orikinla, Mr man you have no idea what you are talking about, most of those surveys are done by older generation, who feel that times have changed.Your assertion that Nigeria is safer than Britain is laughable at best.Britain is a very safe country, emergency services, police, ambulance, fire brigade arrived within minutes of getting a call. You don't have to post a thread about everything that you read on the net,Advice No Be Curse! |
Engr17, Thanking you so much,I had a very good laugh . |
Ugly face with a nice body is having Beyonce Body with Whoopi Goldberg face Before I get stabbed,no disrespect to Whoopi.

I actually give credit to Nollywood producers for what they have done so far but no industry especially entertainment can survive without active criticism. A few of the things I find annoying is 1.Phony American and British accents, even Nigerians living in these countries don't talk like that. 2.Most of the movies showcase either extremely rich people on extreme poverty. No middle class i.e nurses, teachers or civil servants. 3.Some of the the story lines don't add up,why would people be talking about S Class Mercedes in a movie set in 1980? 4.Wrong actors for some roles, how can they cast a mid thirties actor as a teenager in secondary school. 5.Why are babies born in nollywood movies always boys! all rich families always have Only Child Syndrome but in reality Nigerian rich men are baby machines with childen from multiple women Its really easy for outsiders to watch Nigerian movies because they are looking into another culture but for Nigerian we see things that are not real. |
Chocolatte, Hi,I feel your pain, its really sad what you have suffered.I know its no small feat raising a child single handed in Europe, even when you do have access the social services it still not easy.My advice to you is this, play hard ball. 1.He must acknowledge that the Son is His,by way of a DNA test since he refused to accept that the boy was his. 2.His family and wife must know about the situation, please don't play hide and seek game with him,if he wants to see his son you must know his details i.e where he works, lives, please don't play any hide and seek game with him because he hi s stranger to you and your son. 3.He must pay child support,he must have his papers sorted so he can and should pay for child support. 4.If he doesn't agree and keeps buzzing you, call the Met on his A$$ I really hope you meet a better person in future to share your life with.Take care of your son and yourself, keep your head up at all times, don't let him humiliate you,you are not a teen anymore. Cheers |
Nairalanders, You guys are counting your chickens before they hatch,I think before you start negotiating how much you want for your script, the producer/director must like the story and wish to produce it.There is no point talking how much you charge per script if you haven't written one. |
Most of what people post here FOR or AGAINST is all hearsay,no proof whatsoever either way.If anybody has got an actual experience with Ogboni or Reformed Ogboni they should state that.Knowledge is power,am curious about things I don't know. There is no need for Bible bashing. Cheers |
I'm not surprised at the high moral brigade on Nairaland.Amputating limbs is perfectly legal in Nigeria and am trying to reduce the suffering of People who are not properly amputated by Sharia Magistrates by importing state of th art machines.Anyone with the info should please supply it. |
Nairalanders, Thank you very much for your compliments, what can I say am really flattered.I have a few ideas about other stories but am finding it difficult developing a story line. 1.About young Nigerians starting a revelution to change Nigeria for the better. The revulution would be bloody,it will be televised and the revulution will not fail. 2.Forbidden Love.Love between a Lady Pastor and a Muslim Activist. They are drawn to each other but have to deal with their different faiths and what their friends and family would say and do. 3.Trials and Tribulations of a young Nigerian Graduate In Europe. Guys please be patient am working hard for you. Thanking all the women on this forum am glad you liked the story and am taking all your advice seriously. Cheers |
Nutter:I am so proud that she did that, getting Nigerian out of a war zone, who would have thought that Nigerian government care about Nigerians, its really sad that she is gone, but am happy she left with her dignity. She is one of the Presidents that Nigeria never had. |
Superman, To me the only Nigerian movie that has hit home was Super Story with Suaray,Abike and my favourite Toyin Tomato,it dealt with real issues like unemployment, sexual harassment, poverty etc and not fetish. I give a lot of kudos to Nollywood directors and actors but you have to agree that there is overacting, too much shouting and crying, phony accents, silly story lines.I remember watching a Nollywood movie set in the 1970s but they were talking about their Mercedes Benz S Class and in the sitting room you can see a DVD machine. I don't think that some of the story lines are well thought out. |
http://www.youthemanager.co.uk/CleverTV/tmg/themirror/clienthome.do?competitionId=15693 there is no limit on how many teams you can enter, last season i had 5 teams |
Orikinla, As a writer and publisher you need to accept criticism, all publishers have their own criteria for the kind of books they publish, when writers can't find publishers willing to take a risk on them thats when they turn to self publish. The internet has opened the door to a lot of writers/musicians as you don't need big coperations anymore.Mamaput's story on this forum is a kind of self publishing though she is not making any money. |
You can have the best team but the real issue is the bloody Budget £60 million.Do you go for goal scoring midfielders and cheap defenders or great strikers with a a strong defense.the permutations are endless.am still entering 10 teams this season |
The problem I have Nollywood movies is its mostly advertisement for Made In Nigeria Churches and Pastors, all problems in Nigerian movies can only be solved by a Babalawo or Tongue Speaking Pastor. The story are always the same,Rich vs Poor love stories, its never about a nurse being in love with a school teacher, the most annoying aspect is all the leading female characters don't have a job, they always at home, the best thing they do is open a shop.If you didn't know better you'll think that most Nigerian women get a career only when they marry, all they think about in getting married asap and their families are always dirt poor, |
I love this story, beer parlor parliament .more more. Am enjoying this |
The problem with satire with lots of images is you loose the reader easily, you probably need a teacher/lecturer to make you understand what the writer is trying to potray.I read Animal Farm so many times than I care to remember before I understood what its all about. In this generation of Electronic Media you loose your readers with too many imageries nobody wants to spend time interpreting the intension of the writer, they just click on the next link. |
Mamaput, Strange story for children,I doubt if any kindergarten would like your story!Animal rights rights people would probably sue you for suggesting pigs have beers in their fridge,I want to see how the story develops. Keep the story coming Mama |
Bagoma, I can't wait for your comments,I really need helpful suggestions to write better stories. Thanking you in advance Cheers |
I think that people should put their money where their mouth, last season I played fantasy football "You are the Manager" but Roy Keane.Henry and Ashley Cole's absence cost me a lot.I'm entering 5 teams again and would wait until 2hrs before 12.30pm on the August 19 before making a final team selection. Maybe we should organise a mini league to sort the men from the boys |
Odeku, The whole point of revealing your email address and YIM/MSN Id's is you don't mind being contacted outside this forum,I have met a few like minded people from this forum and some stupid ones as well. The whole experience has being quite revealing as to who we meet just from being a member here.I don't regret revealing my details here. If you don't wish any contact remove your details from your profile. Cheers |
Finally a Nigerian with self respect has done the right thing,Resign I have a lot of respect for Mrs Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala,its sad that she was moved from Finance Ministry to Foreign Affairs.I wish more people like her would have the opportunity to serve. |
Bagoma, I understand where you are coming from, you would prefer if I wrote "they made love all night long"the problem is some people would still find it too raw. I like saying it as it is,I present sex as it should be,explicit as it comes. In describing a sex scene its important to give the reader a ring side seat, make the reader understand how two consenting adults explored each other. I made the fight scene between Esther and Iya Sikira as realistic as possible and it would be unfair to make leave the sex scene to the imagination.Just saying they made love doesn't say they enjoyed it or described how they felt after "making love". Thanks for your comments, Cheers |
Damest09,Ikamefa, Damest09:I would like to write another story but I can't think of any title/idea right now,if any member is interested we could write a chain story. Its where one member starts a story and other contributing members take the story in a different direction,it creates a lot of suspense.Seun,Damsal,Ikamefa,Damest09 and other writers are welcomed to join this experiment. |
@cutiee_xx,niterider,ikamefa,didisky, Thank you all for your compliments, this story has an eye opener to hardwork writers around the world,I would not be quick critic Nollywood again, its not easy coming up with a good story. I could write for an African audience because thats my roots but I don't think that many African stories have a happy ending. Ikamefa, thanks,I need all the vaseline I can get. |
Afeni, Afeni:You can be funny sometimes,thanks ![]() |
